RP: Skyscrapers Of Petropolis

Petropolise is a huge industrial city, with buildings that soar upwards in every direction. It is easy for newcomers to get lost in the urban maze, and as Erin discovers, it isn't the best place to have lost your bearings. Along with being completely unaware of where she is, it appears a scheming pokemon theif has started to operate in the area. Navigating her waythrough the maze of buildings and avoiding the pokemon theif will be a tough challenge, one that is perhaps too much for a novice trainer to handle alone...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The spray of the vibrant sea splashed against the sides of the large ferry ship that was bound for Petropolis city, a huge industrial jungle. Erin gazed out from the sea at the looming mass of tall buildings, her brown eyes squinting slightly from the glaring rays of the sun. A gentle hand raised above her eyes so she could view the approaching landscape easier; the skyscrapers looking like strange outcrops on the horizon. She couldn't wait to begin her pokemon journey here, but she wasn't used to cities. Her idea of a journey was visiting homely towns and villages, travelling along roads and through wildlife; not a trek through technological dwellings. As the ferry drew ever closer to Petropolis, Erin felt the fondness of Fushia city grow. Sure, her home WAS a city, but it was much greener than what she saw Petropolis to be. A spray of seawater, blown into a damp wind crossed the girls face, shaking her from her thoughts.

If the spray hadn't, the docking would have brought her back to reality. The ferry grinded against the white-stone walls of the port, fitting perfectly and rather roughly in. Erin fell forwards slightly, stopping herself from falling into a gentleman who was standing in front of her. There were two floors to the ferry, Erin being on the bottom floor. Before she could make her way safetly onto the ground, she felt a surge of people rush eitherside, and soon behind her. Struggling to find her footing in the mass of people, she tried eagerly to find a place where she might catch her breath and not be pushed around. After several moments of aimlessly wandering in the depths of the speedy crowd, Erin soon managed to squeeze out. As she watched the ferry riders scatter off into the metropolis, she felt as though she'd stepped into another world. The sea was nowhere in sight; all that she saw were the towering buildings, some of which she couldn't see the tops of due to the persistent glare of the sun. All of the buildings were either black, grey or white in colour; sometimes a mixture, and many were littered with glass windows of varying size.

Brushing her creased clothes down, the young trainer decided city folk were fairly rude. The sidewalks were covered in people, as Erin realised she was actually standing in what she assumed was a road; not that there were many vehicles in it. There seemed to be more people in the roads that on the sidewalks, and Erin thought how mad it must have been to drive around here. That soon became the least of her worries as she had no clue where she was. She had thought of asking for directions at the port, but she didn't have time before being whisked off in the crowd. besides her worry, she also noted that she hadn't seen many pokemon around; not what she had expected.

"This isn't a very good start..." She mumbled to herself, fiddling with the strap on her pink backpack, just waiting for anything that would help her out of her predicament.

Tuesday's Pack

It was huge.

HUGE!

Tuesday stood in the center of the walkway, staring straight up, her head tilted so far back that her neck was screaming with pain. Still, however, no matter how much she squinted her eyes, she couldn't see the tops of the buildings. It was disconcerting, and it made her feel very small.

She was not unaccustomed to feeling like a tiny grain of sand amidst the beach that was the world. She had grown up with small houses and open fields, and she had seen the tall mountains that put even these great beasts of manmade art to shame.

But when they made her feel small, she still felt as though she was a part of that world.

Here, amidst steel and glass, she felt decidedly out of place. The buildings were grey and emotionless. Tall, straight, and perfectly crafted by the hands of man. But there was no passion within the stone and metal that made up their forms. They simply were, and it caused her to shiver. How could a place so full of people feel so... empty?

"Move it, kid!"

Tuesday stumbled as someone brushed roughly past her, and she straightened after a moment of disorientation, her eyes back on level with the rest of the world. She shook her head lightly and looked around at all of the people. There was a mass of them, swarming like bees toward their hive, or cows toward the farm.

A herd of men, she mused. It was odd, to note how similar everyone acted to cattle.

Shivering despite the warmth - the suffocating heat, rather - of the city, Tuesday began to pick her way through the crowd as best she could. She grit her teeth as people jostled her rudely, uncaring that they kept shoving her into those around them as though this was all a giant ratrace and she was the weapon used to slow their opponents down.

Using her small stature to her advantage, Tuesday ducked beneath a man's arm as he swung his suitcase in an exaggerated motion, and darted around the corner of a building. Releasing a sigh at a moment of peace, Tuesday paused, looking around to see where she was, exactly.

"Hey!" she cried with indignant surprise, as her moment of peaceful searching was interrupted by someone roughly shoving her against the side of a building. She looked up in time to see a group of five or six late-teens walk briskly past, not even sparing her a glance as they continued on their way. Biting her lip, Tuesday let her shoulders fall, wondering what had possessed her to start here of all places. She had never liked cities. She preferred small towns and open country. She must have been possessed by something.

You listened to your sister, she admitted to herself, mental voice devoid of emotion.

Same difference, she replied, deadpan. Sighing and shaking her head to dislodge any intentions of furthering the conversation with herself, Tuesday stayed close to the wall as she looked for signs that might lead her to the Pokemon Center.

"Okay," she muttered in a defeated tone, after a few minutes of fruitless searching, "I am completely lost."

In response to her comment, more likely than not, one of the pokeballs on her belt gave a click and then whooshed as it released its charge. There was a moment when the red light of the pokeball's containing mechanism revealed no hint of the identity of the creature, but it wasn't that hard to figure out when the yellow and brown blur shot through the air, hit the wall of the building, and rebounded to land gracefully on Tuesday's left shoulder.

"Pi," the Pikachu uttered softly by way of greeting, her tail twitching gently.

"Heya, Tempest," Tuesday greeted, flicking one of the Pikachu's brown-tipped ears affectionately. "Decided to keep me company?"

"Chu," Tempest replied, with a gentle nod and a few twitches of the ears.

"Thanks, pal," she said softly, and the electric rodent seemed to tighten her grip on Tuesday's shoulder. A moment later, another group of people walked past. The pokemon's eyes followed them without pause, making sure none of them doubled back or slowed to a suspicious rate. As this common event reoccurred, Tuesday quietly admired the determined face of her pokemon, and her protective grip on Tuesday's shoulder. Like her Charmander, Dante, the Pikachu was very loyal to her. Unfortunately, she didn't trust other trainers, which could lead to problems.

Tuesday was too grateful for the company at the moment to care, though.

The small, brown bandanna tied around Tempest's neck fluttered lightly in the breeze of someone's passing, and she let out a growling "Chuuu" as the person walked too close for comfort. Glancing back momentarily at the obviously-unhappy Pikachu, the man wisely sped up his departure.

"Come on, 'Pest," Tuesday said, using the nickname with utmost affection. "Maybe if we head back toward the docks, we can find a map that'll show us where the Pokemon Center is." Or get a ship to take us some place with buildings shorter than Mt. Moon.

Alex sighed as she looked around at the city. 'What am I doing here? Where's Oran when I need him?'

She was utterly lost in Petropolis, and she didn't even have Chi or Shi for company-she was too fearful of them getting stamped on to let them free. There was a lot of hustle and bustle, and Alex was not used to it. Beginning to panic, the girl stood to one side and took a deep breath. And then another. And a third. It wasn't calming her down. Tears began to fill her eyes, and when someone put a hand on her shoulder, she screamed and ran away.

After she'd run for a few minutes, she stopped, panting. The tears were now flowing freely, and Alex span around looking for somewhere to take shelter. Luckily, she saw a red roof, and, realising that it was a Pokemon Centre, she began to make her way there. She kept her head down, and walked purposefully towards the Centre. As she arrived, she breathed a sigh of relief, and let her two pokemon out of their Pokeballs. Sensing her discomfort, both Chi and Shi tried to nuzzle up to her, and ended up bumping heads. Alex giggled and picked them both up. Immediately she felt better, and she went to the rest room to wash her face. Splashing some water on both her Pokemon, they growled, and she laughed again, before drying off and exiting the rest room.

Tuesday's Pack

Tuesday had turned around and started walking back the exact way that she came. She was certain of this. Tempest hadn't been out before, so she couldn't back Tuesday up on this note, but it wasn't often that the girl forgot which way she had come. She was positive that she had come in this direction.

Obviously, something was off, because she didn't recognize anything about the area in which she stood.

I've been here for less than an hour and I already hate this city, she grumbled internally.

"PIKA!" Tempest squeaked delightedly. Startled by her rather rare display of exuberance, Tuesday turned and very nearly cried at the sight before her.

"Good eyes, 'Pest," she encouraged her Pikachu, and darted through the throng of people to the red-roofed building. Maybe it's a good thing that I got lost, she mused. That is the only time you get found, I suppose. She reached the Pokemon Centre and gave the wall of the building a happy pat, extremely pleased to see at least one familiar structure, before pushing through the door.

She nearly fell over, expecting a crowd of people like what she had just left on the street. Rather, she found herself in a spacious lobby, with a waiting area generously loaded with occupied couches and chairs, but it was nowhere near as crowded as it was outside.

Sighing with relief, she stepped further into the building and glanced around. White, white, white... everywhere. Ugh... she groaned mentally. Tempest, from the look on her face, seemed to share her opinion. Well, beggars can't be choosers, as they say, and I'm happy we finally got here. She scanned the lobby for some helpful-looking person, as Nurse Joy was currently busy with a trainer. I wonder if there's anyone here who knows how to get out of this city... OH!

Tuesday spotted a girl who must have been a few years older than her (though everyone looked older than she did, she was so small for her age). The girl was very pretty, with long brown hair and deep chocolate eyes, from what Tuesday could see. She also caught sight of a Chikorita and... some other pokemon that Tuesday wasn't very familiar with. Professor Oak showed me a picture of one of them before. It's a... a Stinx? Sphinx? No, no, Shinx, that's right. Electric-type, I think. She grinned. Thank you, Professor Oak.

Smiling to herself, trying to bury both her nervousness at talking to a complete stranger, and the knowledge that she rarely ever made the first move, Tuesday made her way over to the tall girl. Along the way, she recalled Tempest to her pokeball, knowing that the Pikachu wouldn't take kindly to Tuesday's speaking with a strange trainer. Smiling, she swallowed a lump in her throat and met the girl's eyes.

"H-Hi," she began, mentally berating herself for stammering. "I'm- um... I'm Tuesday. I was wondering... c-could you tell me how to get out of this city?" She gave a sheepish grin, an embarrassed blush covering her face. "I am so lost right now, it isn't even funny."

Soon, Erin became finicky after trying to gather her bearings from her spot in the road. She edged her way past people who were now walking in front of her path so that she could navigate her way to the sidewalk. Almost onto the crowded pavement, the trainer heard many people shouting down the road. Almost like a wave, people in the road dived to the side, a small black van zooming right through. The driver spared no thought for the safety of the citizens as he drove at high speed down the road. The van swerved wildly, avoiding clumps of people that couldn't get onto the sidewalk in time. For the second time during her presence here, Erin was shoved along with the crowd. However, this time she felt herself fall to the floor.

Dazed slightly from the push, she raised her head to discover she was in the middle of the road. She panicked, knowing the speeding vehicle was heading her way. Turning her head, she saw the black van approaching, and it didn't look like it was going to get out of her way. Instinctively she covered her face with her arm, huddling in hopes the van would miss her. A blast of wind made her scream, before she realised that the van had missed her; but not by far. Shocked, she didn't move from the road, still lying down as she heard typres skid against the gravel beyond. Moments later she heard sirens, which stopped right beside her.

"Hey, are you alright?!" The woman asked as she got out of the car. Erin looked up to discover it was Officer Jenny and she slowly got to her feet.

"Y-yeah, looks like i was lucky..." She replied, trembling slightly as she stood up. Jenny looked off into the distance.

"We won't catch him now..." The officer muttered to herself. Almost as if she were reading Erin's mind, she continued; "A Pokemon theif, he's been driving around in that van of his, stealing pokemon just like that, thats why nobody's got theirs out."

"Oh, thats awful." Erin said, her fingers tracing over her Pokeballs just to check she still had them. "I know this is a bad time... but could you tell me where the pokemon center is?"

"Of course! We wouldn't have got him anyway; hes too reckless. Hop in." Jenny gestured as she got back into the cop car. Erin cautiously got into the passengers seat, not suprised to see that the citizens had already gotten back to normal.

It took several minutes for the police car to stop outside the familiar red roof of the pokemon center; a sign Erin was pleased to see. She climbed out of the car, making sure to shut the door behind her. As she began thanking Jenny, the officer was already heading over to the doors of the center, and Erin ran to enter the building behind her. Straight away, a fresh, clean smell entered her nose; a stark contrast to the stench of the city. the trainer was also delighted to see that it was quite empty inside, several other trainers populating the lobby, along with a Nurse Joy.

"Joy, We spotted him again, be on the lookout!" Jenny shouted, breaking the reasonably quiet atmosphere of the center. Not even waiting for a reply, the officer walked back through the automatic doors. Erin wandered whether Jenny even remembered that she was there with her. Glad that she was now in a familiar place, she walked in further to sit in a chair near two other girls. She felt slightly embarrased, as Jenny's shouting meant her entrance here didn't go unnoticed.

Tuesday's Pack

"Joy, We spotted him again, be on the lookout!"

Tuesday knew it was rude to begin a conversation and wander off before receiving a reply or offer a farewell, but she deemed this a special case. For starters, seeing an officer was something that she had never associated with anything good. She had only seen Officer Jenny (why oh why did they all have the same name?) when something horrible had occurred. And that one time, her brother...

Tuesday shook her head, dislodging the thought. It only led to depression, and now was not the time.

A young girl, probably about the same age as Tuesday, had come in with the officer, but she hadn't left when Jenny did. Rather, the girl had sat down in a chair quite near where she was standing with the older girl. The girl appeared to be shaken, as though something unexpected had occurred, but she hadn't run to Nurse Joy for help with a pokemon, so Tuesday was fairly certain that her pokemon were well. She hoped so, at least.

Still, there was no reason that she shouldn't go and see if she could help. Maybe this girl was lost, too. Even if neither of them could find their way out of the city, it was always better to be in a group. Smiling in apology to the girl she had begun speaking to, she offered a soft, "Just a moment," before wandering over to the girl sitting on the chair. Plopping down in the one next to her, she peered at the girl's face and asked softly, "Hey, are you all right?"

Sitting for a moment, Erin tried to gather her thoughts, such as what to do now she finally had some bearings. Her mother had said there was a gym here, but she doubted that she had the experience of strength to challenge there. While she pondered silently, the girl closest of the two that were sitting near her approached, reseating next to her. Erin looked up and the girl spoke;

"Hey, are you all right?"
she asked, and Erin was taken aback slightly by her concern. Composing herself quickly, she replied as politely as she could.

"Oh, yes, thankyou. I just had a bit of a mishap out on the street, its quite dangerous out there." Erin replied to the girl, trying her best not to let her voice shake. She was glad that she'd found someone more human in this city of cold technology. This in mind, she decided to let her know about what Jenny had said.

"By the way, Jenny told me she was chasing after a pokemon thief; and that was the person who i got into trouble with... so, please be careful if your planning to go back out there." She paused for a second, thinking that maybe she should have introduced herself first. "Ahh... my name is Erin Gardner and ive only just started my pokemon journey here." she managed a smile for her new acquaitance, feeling she should make an effort for the only person besides the dutiful Jenny who had taken an interest in her well-being.

Tuesday's Pack

Tuesday resisted the urge to break out into a rant on how rude the people were in Petropolis. Instead, she settled with, "I know. The people are really pushy, and it's unnecessary. Everyone seems to be quite rude. You're one of the first pleasant people that I've had a chance to speak with," she admitted, smiling softly.

Tuesday felt a cold wind sweep over her when the girl mentioned that she had been in trouble with a pokemon thief. She wondered if the girl hadn't had her pokemon stolen, and that was why she looked so shaky, and hadn't run to Nurse Joy. She wondered if it would be all right to ask, but before she had a chance, the girl introduced herself, sounding like she thought she had been rude for not doing so in the first place.

Reaching out her hand and happily shaking the girl's, she replied, "I'm Tuesday, but you can call me Silence - everyone does. Even my brother." She grinned, but then her smile faded, and she couldn't resist asking, "You're... were your pokemon stolen by that thief? Is that why you look so down?" She restrained herself from adding that she would help the girl trace down the man and get her pokemon back. Such enthusiasm sometimes threw people off, and Tuesday liked this girl. Most people either teased her or ran from her presence for whatever reason, and she didn't want that to happen - not on her first day in an entirely new place.

Sitting quietly, she dearly hoped that the girl hadn't had her pokemon stolen. But even if she hadn't, the fact that there was a Pokemon Thief running around made Tuesday like this place even less, and wonder if she shouldn't leave right away.

Erin was elated when Tuesday, or 'silence' as she would refer to her; shook her hand. she was definately friend material in her eyes. After she had provided Erin with her name, she seemed to struggle to speak. She was going to enquire why, but then Tuesday asked if her pokemon had been stolen.

"Oh no, luckily he wasn't around enough for that... he just drove away in his black van and almost ran me over. Though i think that might have been worse, hehe..." Erin laughed uneasily; it wasn't really funny. Once again, Tuesday had shown her concern, and Erin was glad for it. "These are mine." she said, releasing her two pokemon from their balls. Caterpie called happily, energetically crawling up his trainer's body to curl around her shoulder. Ledyba stretched its six arms and wings before waddling to stand behind her; it wasn't too used to people yet. She patted her gently before returning her attention to Tuesday.

Erin recalled that Tuesday had also commented on how apart from herself, she had met hardly any kind people here. At that moment, she leaned forward to look at the girl Tuesday was talking to earlier.

"And who might you be?" She asked, trying to be friendly.

Tuesday's Pack

Tuesday nearly sagged with relief when the girl admitted that her pokemon hadn't been stolen. "That's great!" she admitted, and then went red in the face in embarrassment. "I mean, not that you were almost run over, but that you're pokemon weren't stolen. Personally, I'd rather be hit by a tank than lose my pokemon."

Tuesday grinned when Erin released her pokemon. The Caterpie seemed full of energy, and the Ledyba looked fairly shy. Tuesday offered both pokemon a gentle smile, before returning her attention to Erin. "I haven't seen too many people who have bug pokemon as starters," she admitted. She unhooked a pokeball from her belt and tossed it into the air, watching in amusement as the red light burst open, revealing a red-skinned reptilian creature with a flame on its tail.

"Char! Char!" the Charmander declared, extremely happy to be free of his pokeball. Tuesday had explained to the small dinosaur-like pokemon that she had to keep him in his pokeball as she wandered the city, as the streets were too crowded for him to walk around with his tail flame. He'd been reluctant, but had understood. Tuesday had no intention of returning him to his pokeball until she was forced to, though. Life was always so much easier when he was around.

"This is Dante," she introduced. "Dante, this is Erin."

Dante did a sort of happy dance at being introduced, his tail wagging back and force as he jumped from foot to foot, waving excitedly. Tuesday never could understand why he did that, but he seemed happy, so she just smiled and shook her head.

"Dante was my first pokemon. My second pokemon is Tempest, but she's not really a people-person."

Apparently, however, Tempest didn't like being left out, as the pokeball on Tuesday's belt suddenly burst open. The Pikachu that materialized from the red light darted up to sit on her shoulder, glaring across at Erin. Tuesday sighed. "Erin, this is Tempest. Tempest, be nice, okay?"

"Chuu..." Tempest mumbled, tail twitching.

"I know," Tuesday replied softly, nudging the Pikachu lightly in the side with her head, causing her to giggle, sparks dancing from her cheeks.

"Tempest doesn't really trust other trainers, so... yeah." She gave a rather sheepish grin. She usually left the rodent pokemon in her pokeball around other people, because trainers had a habit of reaching out to pet the Pikachu, thereby resulting in them getting electrocuted. Some people were stupid enough not to heed her warnings, but this girl seemed to be rather intelligent, which made Tuesday happy.

She felt rather guilty when Erin turned to face the girl that Tuesday had begun talking to, but then left not moments after. She gave a guilty smile of embarrassment when Erin asked who the girl was. Scratching Tempest's ear, she said, "Sorry about just... leaving," she apologized to the girl. "I'm Tuesday, and this is Erin." She didn't know if the girl would have heard their introductions or not. "And I wasn't kidding earlier. I really am completely lost."

Alex hadn't been waiting long when a girl came over and introduced herself. However, moments later, before Alex responded, another girl had arrived and the first went over to speak to her. Feeling slightly annoyed, Alex didn't really pay attention to their conversation, instead preferrinig to seethe with annoyance. However, she did catch two words..."Pokemon Thief."

Alex instinctively pulled her two pokemon closer to her. The two girls came over and reintroduced theirselves to Alex. One was called Tuesday, and one was called Erin. Alex smiled, and said "I'm Alex. As for being lost...I don't know where things are either. So...y'know."

The girl shrugged, and chuckled. She stroked her two pokemon, and said: "Pokemon thief? We should be careful...what does he/she look like?"

"I guess Erin here just got a look at his car when she was almost run down," Tuesday said, trying to make light of the situation. She smiled, but it quickly turned into a serious expression. "The idea of a Pokemon Thief running around just makes me want to leave this place faster, so I think I'm going to head out. I'd like to get on the road to Lenoilia and away from all of these buildings. This is exactly my style, and I know I'm not ready to face the gym leader here, yet."

She scratched Tempest's ears, the Pikachu letting out a sound of contentment. "Would either of you care to join me? Safety in numbers and all that, of course." She smiled.

Tuesday seemed happy at the sight of her Caterpie and Ledyba, but then said how it was strange for a person to start with bugs.

"Well, Caterpie and I and been friends for a few years now... and i came upon this Ledyba by chance. But they are both quite dear to me." Erin said, giggling as Caterpie wriggled on her shoulders. Tuesday soon released her pokemon; a Charmander named Dante and later a Pikachu called Tempest, which came out of its Pokeball of its own will. They both had very unique personalities, but Tuesday soon gave warnings about Tempest. Erin heeded her words with consideration; she knew Pikachu could be quite nasty. What also suprised the girl was that Tuesdya had given both her Pokemon names, something she hadn't even thought about doing to hers yet. She'd always just seen them as Caterpie and Ledyba.

Following the introduction of Pokemon, Tuesday introduced them both to the other trainer. Erin felt bad that she had cut into their conversation so soon that they hadn't had time to exchange names. On the brink of apology, she stopped when she said her name was Alex. Erin smiled back, hoping she could get along with Alex too. She recognised her pokemon as Chikorita and Shinx, making her doubt the variety of her own pokemon even more. However, tuesday soon brought attention to other matters. The mention of being far away from the industrial city made her eager.

"That sounds wonderful." Erin said in response, then turning to Alex; "And if we're going to be lost, it would be better if there was three of us, right?" Tuesday's words seems to exact what Erin was deciding upon doing. "As long as we keep our Pokemon hidden from the theif, we should be fine." She finished, standing to stretch as Caterpie hopped to the floor, mimicking his Trainer's motions. Somehow, Erin couldn't help but think that they would run into trouble, as that would just about sum up her first day.

Tuesday's Pack

Tuesday resisted the urge to dance at the prospect of having some company on her journey out of the city. Dante, however, had no such qualms about embarrassing himself in public, and he jigged from one foot to the other in excitement. Tuesday smiled at him, but turned her attention to Tempest when the rodent pokemon growled in defiance at the idea of hiding from someone.

"Hush, 'Pest," Tuesday whispered. "I don't want to lose you, but I promise I won't keep you in the pokeball any more than is necessary, all right?" There was more to it than just her being trapped in the pokeball or the idea that she was too weak to defend herself. Tempest was very protective of Tuesday and the idea of here wandering around in unfamiliar, dangerous territory, and Tempest with no way to protect her, did not bode well for the Pikachu.

Danta, finished with his dance, tilted his head back and peered up at Tuesday. She pulled the pokeball off of her belt and held it out. "We're heading back into the streets, Dante," she explained. "I'll call you out when we're away from the crowds."

Dante was reluctant, of course, but he agreed, reaching up with a claw and pressing the button on the pokeball. With a soft, "Char!" he disappeared in a flash of red light, and Tuesday stuck the ball into her pocket, rather than hooking it back in its place on the belt. With a pokemon thief running around, she didn't want to risk losing Dante.

"'Pest," she said, holding out the ball, and Tempest let out a reluctantly agreeable "Chu," and Tuesday clicked the ball, sucking the Pikachu back in.

Tempest's ball she did hook back on her belt. If anyone got hold of Tempest's pokeball, they would be in for a nasty surprise. The Pikachu could easily escape her pokeball whenever she so chose, and only remained in it because she was loyal to Tuesday. If there was a fierce movement - anything suspicious - then Tuesday knew that Tempest would burst free. And if the situation claimed that someone had taken her pokeball, they would be at the mercy of a very irate Pikachu who distrusted all trainers.

"Well," Tuesday said, adjusting the strap of her messenger bag over her shoulder, "let's head off and see how far we can get through this over-sized maze." She looked at Alex as she headed for the door with Erin. "You wanna come with us, Alex?"

The other two girls wanted to leave the city, and Alex couldn't blame them. They asked Alex to join them, and not having anything better to do, she said: "Sure. We need to be on our guard from this pokemon thief too."

Looking down at her pokemon, she smiled grimly, and said:

"Maybe we should put the Pokemon back in their pokeballs, then put them in our packs until we leave the city."

Shi made noises of protestation when she heard this, and Alex quickly put her hand behind her head, scratching her neck to calm her down. Looking down, she muttered "Do you want to stay with me? I'm just concerned about your safety. Besides, it won't be for very long."

Shi looked up at her with wide eyes, seemingly to understand what Alex said, and she squealed "INX", as some kind of assertion of agreement. Chi hadn't said anything, she was looking at Erin's Caterpie. Taking the opportunity whilst she was distracted, Alex opened up a pokeball, and Chi flew into it. Shi tried to jump away from Alex, but the trainer was too quick, catching her Shinx in the ball. Placing both in her pack, she smiled at Tuesday and Erin and said: "Ready Or do you want to get some supplies?"

Tuesday's Pack

"Maybe we should get some supplies," Tuesday admitted. She was embarrassed that she hadn't thought of it. She didn't have a great deal of anything with her. Her most important possessions were her pokemon and her sketchbook, as well as the stationary she used to write letters to Brone. It would be a good idea to stock up, considering that once she left the city, she'd be practically resigned to the wild until she reached Lenoilia.

This Pokemon Thief worried her, as well. Tempest and Dante meant the world to her, and they were her two closest friends, along with her brother and Professor Oak. She didn't think that she would be able to handle it, if she lost either of them.

"I guess the PokeMart should be nearby. I've never heard of a city that didn't have that particular layout, so all we'll have to do is not get lost walking around the block." She glared out of the window at the ever-busy street. "I really wonder how easy it's going to be, though, to lose our bearings in his... place." She was very tempted to say Purgatory, but she didn't know if that would lead to a need to explain what Purgatory was, as so often was the case. Sometimes she hated being the twelve-year-old bookworm.

She was about to suggest that they head out while she noticed a small lull in the crowd (hopefully one that would last for a while), when there was a rush of wind behind her, and she heard a cry of "SWELL!"

Turning, Tuesday regarded the Swellow with surprise. He was watching her with intelligent eyes, seemingly waiting.

"Er... hello?" she asked.

"Swell," the large bird pokemon replied, holding out a letter for her.

Tuesday blinked and took the letter, a little confused. She usually only ever received mail from Brone or Professor Oak, and both of them generally sent the letters through the Pokemon Centres. As Tuesday opened the letter, however, she saw that it was handwritten, and not in the precise, almost block-type lettering that was Professor Oak's style.

"Um... you must have sent this to me by mistake," she admitted, holding the folded letter back to the Swellow so he could return it to its proper recipient. "It's-"

"Swell," the Swellow interrupted. Tuesday blinked and the large bird waved a wing at the letter in her hands.

Tuesday thought about it for a moment, and then looked at Erin and Alex apologetically. "Hold on a moment, please," she said politely. "This may be important." It hadn't occurred to her before that moment, but the letter might have been about her brother. Tuesday wasn't so foolish as to believe that if she ignored the fact that her brother was ill, it would go away. Brone had always been a sickly child, and his blindness complicated some matters. Of course, he had Cassandra, but if something had happened...

More worried than she was only seconds before, Tuesday opened the letter and began to read.

Jaima's Letter (written by Jaima) (click to show)

Tuesday sighed in relief as she folded up the letter. Her letter to Brone had merely been received by the wrong party, which was a welcome alternative to what she had been thinking. She looked up at the Swellow and smiled. "Thank you."

"Swell," the bird replied. She saw another letter in his grasp and recognized the sand-colored paper as her favorite stationary. He also held the letter that she had been meaning to send to Brone, and he didn't look like he expected her to take it.

"Are you planning to-"

"Swell," he interrupted, and she was sure she could see something akin to a grin in his eyes. He spread his wings, turned, and flew off.

"Well, that was interesting," Tuesday muttered, tucking the letter from Jaima into her side bag with the intention of writing a response at a more convenient time. Turning to her two companions, she blushed lightly. "Sorry about that," she admitted, "but I was worried that it might have been about... my family." She smiled. "Anyways, you guys ready to go?"

~*~

Far away, in the small town of Pallet, a large Swellow swooped into the bedroom of one Brone Berdison, a letter in his grasp. The Kadabra present in the room had locked eyes with the mysterious bird and, as the letter changed hands, the Kadabra let out a laugh that startled the wild-haired boy in her presence.

As he heard the delivery bird swooping away, he asked, "What's so funny, Cassandra?"

"Oh, nothing, my Brone," Cassandra replied telepathically to her partner. "It's just amusing how some pokemon know just what to do to help out their trainers."

Then it was settled; the three of them would find their way out of this place together. That set quite a few worries in Erin's mind aside; there was safety in numbers. Alex suggested they return their pokemon to their balls, which seemed to be the safest way to keep them out of harms way. Adressing her Caterpie, and ledyba, she explained to them that they were in possible danger of being stolen, and without much hassle they were soon in their pokeballs.

"Hmm, i could probably get by without them, but if you two need to, then thats fine." Erin said to her two companions, just before a large blue swallow pokemon dropped from the height of the buildings to greet tuesday. Erin had never seen a delivery Pokemon before, wandering what it took to train one. She couldn't help but giggle at the thought of her Ledyba with postbags tied to each of its legs. For a moment, Tuesday was engrossed in her letter, and Erin hoped it was nothing serious, as her friend had said it might have been important. Finishing the letter, Tuesday explained the letter may have concerned her family. She also seemed a bit embarrased. Erin stepped closer as if to find out what was wrong, but Tuesday soon piped up again;

"Anyways, you guys ready to go?"

"Yes, the sooner we leave here the better!" She said, sure that her new companions felt exactly the same way.

Erin wasn't sure whether it was just psychological, but the streets of Pertropolis seemed a lot easier to navigate now that she belonged to a group of three. It was quickly noticeable how people were less careless when approaching the three, as opposed to trying to walk right through them. Without the more prominent threat of being knocked off of your feet, it was slightly easier to keep bearings. Erin, Alex and Tuesday wandered around for a while, still searching for the elusive blue roof of the Poke'mart. Erin ran her hands through her tied hair, making it fall back against her back when she finished. She gazed around for a little, noticing a glimmer far beyond a crowd... She took a moment to look closer, and saw the flash of a man, the glint coming from a pair of sunglasses. She couldn't help but assume the worst.

However, she tried to remain logical; I'm being silly; why would he target us three, what makes us so different from anybody else? her thoughts snapped as she heard a short, resonating yell nearby. It sounded like that of a childs.

"Oh, someones in trouble?" Erin told Tuesday and Alex, before heading through small crowds to reach the source. her eyes came upon a boy, who must have been about 12, standing in the road. The first thing she noticed was his attire, which couldn't have come cheap. He was wearing a navy blue shirt, which seemed to shimmer in the light, probably made from a high quality material. A black tie sat loosely around his neck, reaching down to his stomach. From what she could see, his white trousers were made out of a similar material, and his shoes were deep black, obviously of the finest make. he was definately well off. Erin mde her way over to the boy, who was slightly smaller than her.

"Umm, are you alright?" She asked, trying to be friendly.

"No, No I'm not! My Prized Pokemon's been stolen! My father is going to be fuming; it costed thousands!" The boy whined; manners weren't his strong suite.

Tuesday's Pack

Ugh... he bought his pokemon. Tuesday flushed, embarrassed by her thoughts. Don't judge others! she reprimanded herself sternly.

Tuesday stepped forward, calling for the boy's attention. "What kind of pokemon was it?"

The boy rolled his eyes airily. "I said it cost thousands," he returned snarkily. "Therefore the best pokemon in the world."

"Namely?" Tuesday asked calmly.

"A Totodile."

Tuesday felt a shiver run through her. Of course it was a Totodile. Just pile on the bad luck here, Fate.

Forcing herself not to go into hysterics, she asked, "Did you see which way the man went?" Man? Why did you assume it was a man?

"I'm not a complete idiot," the boy snapped.

No. Complete idiots tend to be a tad more polite out of stupidity.

He pointed off behind them. "He ran off that way with my pokemon. Who does he think he is, anyway? The sun isn't shining bright enough to be wearing sunglasses, and how dare he steal my pokemon. Mine! He should have gone for some commoner's, like yours."

Tuesday took a deep, silent breath. How rude. She really loathed people like this.

"Well?" he asked, looking at them expectantly. "Are you going to go fetch my Totodile or not?"

I am not a dog. I do not fetch.

However, she couldn't admit that the desire to help others that had somehow, and for some reason, ingrained itself with her soul, wanted to get this boy's pokemon back. Ignoring the fact that the boy was rude beyond comparison, and that Totodile was a... it was the base form of Feraligatr, a huge beast of a lizard with cruel, cruel eyes...

Do not judge them.

Right, right. Cassandra had said that three pokemon couldn't be the basis of judgment on an entire species, and she was right, of course. This wasn't that Feraligatr. This was a boy's Totodile. A poor pokemon who had been kidnapped from its trainer.

Tuesday turned to Erin and Alex. "Well, what do you think?"

Tuesday's Pack

There were no apparent objections to try and rescue the boy's pokemon, so the three had headed off. It had seemed like a good idea at the time. Sure, this was an adult they were talking about, likely, a criminal, but it would be three against one. They could take him. Of course, there would no problems. Simple outnumbering and out-powering.

Yeah. Yeah, she should have known better.

I'm such an idiot, she mused in self-loathing. Sure, it had seemed like a good idea. The problem being that it wasn't a good idea.

Tuesday had gotten lost. Again.

Only this time, she had been with two other girls, and now she wasn't. They had been split up in the crowd, Tuesday falling behind with her smaller stature, easily pushed around by the mass of people. She had seen Erin and Alex continue walking, oblivious to her calls, and she had finally lost sight of them.

And now she had no idea where she was.

Pathetic. She hadn't even made it to the Pokemon Mart.

"Well, well, well, what have we here?"

Gasping in surprise, Tuesday spun around to come face to face with an older gentlemen wearing a pair of black sunglasses and a ball cap that didn't suit him. He was rubbing his hands together constantly, his eyes travelling from her face to the pokeball visible on her belt.

Is this him? she wondered. Is this the pokemon thief?

"Tell me, child," the man said, reaching out to grab her hands, but she pulled away slightly and he returned to rubbing his hands together. "What sort of pokemon do you have, sweetheart? Do you have a fire type?"

What's it to ya, Bub? Tuesday mentally shook herself. No, no, too much X-Men. Now she was channeling Wolverine. Not a happy thought. She was dreadfully lacking in the man's area of expertise. She was a few adamantium blades short of a tempermental mutant.

"N-No," she stammered the lie, finding herself frightened by the man. What was it about him that made her want to run swiftly in the opposite direction? Sure, he looked a little strange, but she had always tried not to judge by looks. No, it was something else - a feeling. Something seemed to roll off of him in waves - a sickness that wasn't a sickness, but a cold darkness. She wanted away from it. Away!

"Oh?" the man asked, feigning innocence, but failing. Did he just run his tongue over his teeth as though he was hungry, or had she imagined it? "And what kind of pokemon do you have?" he asked.

"A...a - Pikachu," she whispered.

The man's eyes seemed to sparkle. "Pikachu. With a Thunderstone, yes, yes, a Thunderstone, it evolves into Raichu. Very beautiful, very powerful. I have a Thunderstone. Sell them. Like one, would you, for your Pikachu? Evolve it, make it more powerful. What do you say?"

Tuesday swallowed thickly. Was this the pokemon thief, or an overzealous salesman? She didn't like him, either way. She looked around, hoping that maybe Erin or Alex realized that she was missing and came to find her. To her disappointment (but not her surprise), she saw neither of them.

She turned back to the man and saw him leaning into a van, rustling through the compartment between the front seats. She saw a few pokeballs within the depths of the compartment - more than one usually carried at a time - and she didn't really have any more doubts about him being the thief.

But she couldn't take him by herself.

Brone, I wish you were here. You always know what to do. Her big brother was the strategist. Her sister was the act-first, plan-later type of person. Tuesday was the in-between, the outcast, the thorn on the rosebush that was her family. She didn't know how to strategize, and acting without thinking worried her. She was always thinking; she couldn't just shut off her brain.

But what was she supposed to do?

The man's chuckle brought her back to the present and she looked up just in time to see him dart away from her, Tempest's pokeball clutched in his hands. Tuesday didn't know whether to smirk or gulp in fear. He had just made the biggest mistake of his life.

He stepped into the van, dropping the pokeball into the between-seat compartment, expecting to make a clean getaway as he revved the engine.

He didn't expect the pokeball to burst open and a very angry Pikachu to appear, sparks flying from her cheeks. Tuesday winced at the high pitch of the scream that the man emitted, just before a flash of lightning erupted within the van, as Tempest let loose a ferocious electrical attack.

It wasn't enough to demolish the van, sadly. It wasn't even enough to incapacitate the thief, as Tuesday saw him running in the opposite direction, his arms hugging a thick sack of pokeballs to his chest as he retreated swiftly, trying not to get caught.

Tuesday considered running after him and letting Tempest vent her frustration, but she saw a pokeball lying on the ground - one that had fallen out of the thief's sack. Walking over to it, as Tempest came and jumped on her shoulder, Tuesday picked the pokeball up and studied it. Thoughtful and curious, she dropped the pokeball and watched it flash open.

She hadn't expected to see a Cyndaquil, and she took a swift step back.

Do not judge them.

Cyndaquil. Not Typhlosion. Not that Typhlosion.

The little rodent was shivering, and not likely with cold, seeing as the fire was burning brightly on her back. Swallowing, Tuesday stepped forward and knelt on the ground. "Hey, little flame," she whispered softly, "I bet you're a ways away from home, huh?"

"Cyn..." the pokemon replied nervously.

"It's all right. I won't hurt you, and that man is gone. He's running off like Gollum with his ring, but I doubt he'll get very far. There are police everywhere looking for him, and he's not too discrete, carrying around a sack of pokeballs. He'll kidnapped you, huh?"

"Quil..." the Cyndaquil replied, looking at the pokeball in Tuesday's hand and shivering.

Tuesday regarded the pokeball. "This isn't yours, is it?" she asked.

"Quil..." the voice sounded so sad.

"Well..." Tuesday thought for a long moment. "I'm planning on heading to Lenoilia next." The Cyndaquil's head jerked up. Tuesday blinked. "You know the name?" she asked. "Lenoilia?"

"Quil!" the Cyndaquil cried, with some enthusiasm, and perhaps it was delight. "Quil! Cyn-da-quil!"

Tuesday smiled. "Were you kidnapped at Lenoilia?" she asked.

"Quil!"

"Well then," Tuesday said, and grinned, "your trainer can't be too far from there, huh? You wanna stick with me for a while? We can find your trainer and get you back home. I'm sure someone's bound to have heard something about a kid's pokemon getting stolen."

"Quil!" Tuesday let out a yell of surprise when the Cyndaquil released a burst of flame at the pokeball in her hand. She dropped it to the ground, where the pokemon continued to batter it with furious attacks.

"Okay," Tuesday said, standing up, "I'm guessing this really isn't your pokeball."

"QUIL!" Cyndaquil demanded furiously.

"In that case," Tuesday replied happily, "I find nothing wrong with doing this." Then, to the Cyndaquil's surprise, she stomped down hard on the pokeball, breaking it in half.

For a long moment, the Cyndaquil did nothing. Tempest and Tuesday watched, waiting, and both grinned when the fire rodent began to dance happily from side to side.

"That's much better," Tuesday said, pleased by the pokemon's happiness. "So, Cyndaquil, would you like to come with me to Lenoilia? I'm sure we can find some information about your trainer there."

"Quil!" Cyndaquil replied happily, and Tuesday scooped the pokemon up in her arms. She wouldn't capture the rodent pokemon, as she knew the creature didn't belong to her. She had every intention of finding the Cyndaquil's true owner and returning her. Considering how happy the prospect made the pokemon, the trainer must have been very caring to her.

Somehow, Tuesday made it back to the Pokemon Center. Erin and Alex were nowhere in sight along the way, and the nurse hadn't seen them since they had all left together.

"Could you tell them I decided to head off on my own?" Tuesday asked. She felt a little bad, but decided that it was more important to get Cyndaquil back to her proper owner than dealing with a pokemon thief that the authorities could handle. Besides, if Erin and Alex were intent on confronting the man, they could handle him well without her help.

"Where are you headed to next?" Nurse Joy asked pleasantly, as she returned Tuesday's checked-over pokemon. She had been sitting, working on a letter to Jaima while she waited.

"Lenoilia," Tuesday replied. "I have to return this little girl to her trainer." She looked down at the pokemon in her arms.

"Quil!" Cyndaquil agreed happily.

Tuesday smiled. She was happy. The nurse gave her easy directions out of the city (luckily, the Pokemon Center was near the outskirts), and Tuesday was more than happy to follow them. She made her way swiftly from the tall buildings, to a dirt road and grassy meadows. She smiled as a breeze brushed her face, and Cyndaquil released a happy sound.

"One step closer to finding your trainer, little fire," Tuesday said, and began to walk.

Funny. If only she knew that she already knew him.

Spoiler (click to showhide)

This ends Tuesday's participation in this RP. She has moved on beyond Petropolis.

After the absurd accusations that the three girls should, and later would, search for this boy's pokemon, they headed off in search of the not so elusive pokemon thief. Erin was a little apprehensive about having to confront the man, as her experience in pokemon battling was embarrasingly low. However, with both Tuesday and Alex to assist in the confrontation, she did feel they had a much better chance. Once again wandering through the streets of the industrial city, they started their searching.

Erin became so content with avoiding the brash movements of the bustling city-folk, it was too late for her to realise that Tuesday was now out of sight. Alex was still trailing behind her, however.

"Silence??" She called out, her gentle voice swallowed by the sounds of the city. She felt quite upset; Tuesday had definately strung a high chord with her, and she felt they got along. However, searching for her now would most likely be fruitful, unless they went back to the center. Tuesday seemed to be the most confidence with direction, and Erin was not too sure if she could find her way back confidently. "Well, I don't think we'll be able to find her with all these people around... but we promised we'd rescue this boy's pokemon. I'm not really sure..." Wait, i can't think like this, we still have him outnumbered, and ive got to believe we can do this. She thought. "Well, what do you think Alex? we could always just try and leave town... but then theres the boy. and we may run into him anyway.

With the swirling effects of the skyscrapers and the rushing people aroudn them, Erin waited for Alex to help her decide what the two girls should do.
