While SAO is an entertaining watch, it takes itself too seriously. The show is supposed to be about life and death situations but essentially, it's mostly filler episodes with characters that are more underdeveloped than a zygote and a steryotypical romance that seems like it was written by a 10-year-old. Kirito is way too overpowered given his solo-player status and everything always goes his way no matter what the situation is or who he's battling. Asuna, who was intoduced as this badass goddes turns into a weak female that can't do anything without him, and the same thing happens for every female Kirito meets. The anime itself started out looing like an action/adventure but then turned into scy-fi then turned into romance then turned into... whatever the heck season two was. Major questions like "why did the creator trap all of those people inside the video game in the first place?" were never answered. And the second season "boss" was pathetic. (This is usually the part where I write an awesome closing sentence but I'm terrible at those.)

While I agree that Kirito is fairly overpowered, that's sort of the point. It's supposed to tell the story of the person who defeated SAO. I would rather watch the story of the overpowered Kirito than the story of some merchant type who simply sits around all day, filling in orders for the fighters (unless they make that somehow interesting). If Kirito wasn't overpowered, he probably wouldn't have been able to win at all, and would have died quickly.

About Asuna: I do agree that she becomes overly-dependent on Kirito, but I saw that more as a character flaw than a flaw in the show itself. Well, that's in season one, at least. As far as season two goes, it's impossible to disagree with the point that her "damsel in distress" role crosses the line and breaks character. Strong, yet overly-dependent? Believable. Strong, yet incapable of escaping from that stupid pervert on her own and filling the 'damsel in distress' role to a T? That's a stretch. I think they were trying to give Kirito something to work towards, and they spent a bit too much on the plot and not enough on staying true to Asuna. She probably would have tried harder instead of just "Kirito will save me, whateves," no matter how dependent she was in the last season. As for "other females"... most of them seemed to start out weak or with little to no battling skills, and while that doesn't exactly sit very well with me, I don't think Kirito turned them into weak girls. Like, Silica (the one with the dragon). She didn't really have any fighting skills in the first place. Although I think they stressed her lack of skill too much, Kirito didn't make her weak. She was already like that. And Elizabeth. She was a blacksmith, not a fighter. Although I do think it was very odd how she suddenly turned from aloof to madly in love, I can't say she was necessarily a "strong" character in the first place, since she doesn't even fight.

I can't say the character development was particularly impressive at all, either, but I don't think it was straight-up shit. I don't think that characters that only show up in one episode need to be developed that much. I mean, they're only there for a little while, so they don't need to be completely round. As long as we get enough of a feel for the one-time-appearing character to understand the plot and their motives, it seems fine to me. Sure, I wouldn't rate it "great" or "excellent" by any standards, it just seemed sufficient: no more, no less. (Although some more round/dynamic recurring would be nice.)

The unanswered questions were pretty irking, but I think that they were trying to show the dynamic nature of the game's creator, as well as leaving the topic open-ended for the viewer to try to figure out for themself. Based off of the show, it seems fairly implied that it was some workings in the gamemaster's mind, as opposed to financial or business reasons of some kind. If they would have gone into his mind's motives, they could have easily crossed into stereotypical territory. What I mean is: "I don't even remember what this cursed death game was for..." shows a dynamic change in the character. "I did this for my dead wife/son/daughter/parent(s)/best friend" or "I did this because I hate the world and you all needed to pay!" or something like that would just fall into a stereotypical villain complex, and right now we'd both be criticizing the stupid reason that he trapped them instead of what we're saying now.

Your points are very valid, but many are also very subjective. There's no really "right" way to look at them. So, we can debate them (which is what this post is ), but a lot of the things you bring up seem to also be matters of personal preference and opinion, in which case, nothing is really incorrect. There seems to be sound logic behind many of these points, though, which I can definitely appreciate more than "Ew SAO". //Glares over at Shadow, as always//

Oh, and (for some reason, idk why) you've got me really curious: What is/are your opinion(s) on Kirito's sister? Gee, I forget her name, but in-game it's Leafa-chan.

I've read the spoilers, and you do make valid points. While I agree that the "Fairy Arc" was garbage, the main reason Kirito is overpowered is because Kayaba Akihikio was the creator of the game and had every possible resource. He could make himself immortal. And if Kirito didn't know that, when he fought Kayaba in the final battle, he would have died without taking Kayaba with him.

Kirito said himself that he was level 78.
Those bandits probably weren't much higher than 20.
If you've played Skyrim, or at least watched a video about it, you'd know that you barely take any damage from low level enemies if you're a higher level. Now, perhaps Skyrim isn't exactly the best example because I know not everyone has played it, number one, and number two, it's not an MMORPG. However, the example fits well.

Actually, that logic is present in every video game that has character levels. And I was merely trying to say that, as a single player, Kirito shouldn't be at level 78. Well, actually, that's debatable. The time skips are so massive that anything could have happened. Then comes the party where I point out the time skip filler flaw and someone defends it which leads too another argument and the cycle continues.

I concur with Mr. L here. Not counting those nuts strategies that some people use (Starly+Endeavor+Focus Sash or whatever it is), my level 20 Zangoose is not going to take out your level 78 Zangoose. When there's a level difference that great, the lower level just doesn't win.

@Flare: I don't follow the logic that a solo player shouldn't be able to get to level 78. It's hard, but it's not impossible, and I don't doubt that he did a lot of grinding to get there.

Just watched the Corpse Party anime... It was alright, not as good as some other horror anime. I keep wanting to watch Deadman Wonderland, but always end up not looking for it and watching something I find on Crunchy Roll. lol

I hated the ending to the Corpse Party anime. Everyone died except for the two girls I don't remember the names of. The anime wasn't bad, I just wished Satoshi had lived at least. He was the main character, after all. I also loved the intro song, too.

Right now Attack on Titan is my favorite. That, and SAO II, which is off to a great start. despite Kirito looking like a girl
