Instead of doing a normal event this time, we came up with this idea. An egg colouring contest!

If you come in this thread and complain about how this contest is unfair or anything ridiculous like that, you will be warned.

When?

You have almost the entire week to think up an egg design. You will then be able to submit your entry on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (24th-26th). Voting shall take place during Saturday through Thursday next week (27th-1st).

No names will be listed at all during voting, in order to keep it anonymous.

Are there prizes?

Yes, there certainly are! You only get one prize. So if you made it all the way to round 4, you'd get only Egg Voucher 2.

Round 1: Nugget (Basically, if your entry was approved but you didn't pass round 1 you get this)
Round 2: Deoxys Voucher (Passing round 1 but ending here)
Round 3: Egg Voucher 1 - Any Legendary or Breedable Novelty (Passing round 2 but ending here)
Round 4: Egg Voucher 2 - Any Legendary or Novelty (Passing round 3 but ending here)
Round 5: Egg Voucher 3 - Any egg (Passing round 4 but ending here)
Round 6: Shiny Voucher - Any egg, shiny (Passing round 5 but ending here)
Finals: Both people get the special prize, but the one winner will have their egg design used as the default egg sprite (like in the Lab) during Easter weekend

Prizes will be handed out tomorrow or Sunday.

Voting

Remember the rule about not advertising your entry! Do not post an image or very specific stats about your entry!

Round 1 over - Anything that placed 20 or better advanced to the next round
Round 2 over - Anything that placed 10 or better advanced to the next round
Round 3 over - Anything that placed 8 or better advanced to the next round
Round 4 over - Anything that placed 4 or better advanced to the next round
Round 5 over - Anything that placed 2 or better advanced to the next round
Round 6 over - Top 1 moved onto the finals

And, of course, the rules!

1. No inappropriate designs.
2. No designs that match current designs or are slight deviations of ones used on the site.
3. Your design must be a sprite.
4. Your design must actually be yours and made from scratch using the given template below.
5. It has to be the size of the template. No changing the size of the template.
6. Do NOT use the .jpg format. The preferred format for your entry is .png.
7. Do not advertise your entry and/or tell people to vote for it.
8. Do not make an animation. Still pictures only, please.
9. Do not ask about the status of your entry, it will be approved or denied when the staff has the opportunity to do so. Asking will get it disqualified.

All submitted entries will go through an approval process before voting begins. If yours doesn't make it because you broke one of the above rules, don't say you weren't warned.

I've been noticing a pattern in some of the entries having ungodly amounts of colours. Because of this, the submission process will be reset (that means anybody who was denied now has a second chance and that everybody must re-uploaded their entry). It was already reset shortly after the submissions opened.

There will be a strict 64 colour limit. If your entry goes even one colour beyond that, it will be automatically denied. Most programmes have the ability to check the amount of colours in the image, however if yours doesn't, or you are unsure on how to do it, then you can upload your image to iaza and it will tell you, (directly underneath the image).

So, where's my template then?



This is your template. Remember to stay within the dimensions of it (28x30) when you are working on your design. And as a little tip, using pure black is not recommended. You are not required to give your egg a transparent background.

Go wild with your design, do whatever! Be creative! You don't have to base the design on a Pokémon, you can do anything within the rules. You can only submit one egg, so make sure the one you enter is your best.

There will be a special page on the site you will submit your entry to. A link will be posted once it is time to submit your entries.

IMPORTANT ENTRY NOTICE!

After something was brought up to me, I have to make an important notice about designs.

Your entry must still be egg shaped. If your entry hardly resembles an egg shape at all, it will not be accepted. Yes, you can use the corners around the template in your design, but be very careful in how you do this. There is also no distorting the shape of the template. You can, however, play around with the shading of the template.



1st egg (green): This would be allowed, it is still very obviously egg shaped. However, you would want to avoid colouring the green areas to make it look like as if it were part of the egg's general shape, because it would distort the egg shape quite a bit.
2nd egg (blue): This wouldn't be allowed, it does not look egg shaped anymore.
3rd egg (red): This would be allowed, it is still very obviously egg shaped.
4th egg: This isn't allowed. You aren't allowed to edit the actual shape of the template in a way like as shown in the picture. Say if you wanted something like a small spike sticking out the egg though.... that would be fine so long as it does not take away from the required egg shape your entry must have.

So, the space around the template is recommended to be used for "props" for your egg (sparkles, etc.) and not to change the shape of the template so drastically that it does not look like an egg anymore.

Now I know this will get me a ton of messages, so if you are using the area around your egg and are unsure if it would count as an egg shape or not, show me your entry via PM on the forums, PM on the IRC Channel (Wymsy), or IMing me via AIM (Wymsy). I leave my computer on all of the time, so sometimes I might not actually be there if you try and contact me. When you contact me, please give me a link to the image of your entry and tell me your username on the site.
