This is Furoh as we know it as of right now. A little explanation of what everything is:

Petropolis: Our booming metropolis, and also a major manufacturer of goods and power. There is a lake in the middle of the city which all the sewage and pollution is dumped into. A man-made river carries the sewage downstream to meet up with the natural river, which then branches off to our run-down place in the south east. There is a gym here.

Lenoilia: The remains of the second largest city on Furoh. Due to pollution carried downstream from the metropolis, the whole town had to be evacuated and moved underground. The river that runs through the town is polluted. Outcasts live here. It's also a hotspot for dark, ghost, and poison pokemon.

Gigarte: The Underground city is basically a city in a dome with vents bringing in fresh air from above. They do everything as naturally as possible down there to prevent pollution after what had happened to their town previously. There is a gym here.

Mount Carello: Our stereotypical pokemon mountain. There town of Arasam is based in a large crater in the western side of the mountain. The mountain is also a dormant volcano with many caves still warm enough for fire pokemon to thrive. It's very tall and is all snow at the peak, great for ice pokemon. There is a gym in the town.

Barley: A port town. A ferry sails from this town to the champ's place and to the island to the west. It's also the island's main fish exporter.

Fidona: A small, quiet town. There isn't much there besides a gym. However, the island itself is home to rare pokemon you won't find on the mainland.

Daioh: A mechanical island/city that floats on the water. It's the region's science and technology capital. Deal with all types of things, like the pokeball designs, pokemon storage, and transportation vehicle design. The pokemon champ lives here.

The yellow lines are the main routes, the blue lines are rivers, and the blue all around is obviously ocean. The light green is fields or plains, and the dark green is rainforest.

Edit by Spamm: I can't begin enough to apologize, but I forgot to address sizing issues (I forgot to address a lot of things ._.). Just to clarify, Petropolis is a little bigger than NYC or Beijing. The island/continent itself is massive. I'd like to think it's the size of Canada. Fidona is quite small compared to the rest of that break off island though. 10 000 people tops. Barley can be compared to Vancouver, Lenoilia could be big as Detroit, Gigarte is what you get if you move Toronto underground, and Arasam is Orlando built into the side of a gargantuan volcano/range of mountains.

I'm really sorry for not mentioning this earlier. Since the backstory of the place wasn't really solidified we couldn't explain why everyone was so far away from each other. But yeah, the cities are VERY far away from each other, and those are just the main ones. There can be all kinds of little towns and villages in between that you yourselves are allowed to make up. Just nothing as big or important as what we've already got.

And a Golurk

Updated map with new locales! Credit to Kilvaer for the original, Alex Slasher for developing the new one, and myself for making it bigger.

1. Petropolis- The largest city on the mainland, Petropolis is the major manufacturing center of Furoh. Giant skyscrapers can be seen for miles around, creating quite a sight. However, the great city comes at a cost: pollution is a massive problem. There is a lake in the middle of the city which all the sewage and pollution is dumped into. A man-made river carries the sewage downstream to meet up with the natural river, which then branches off to our run-down place in the southeast. There’s also a gym, contest hall, and pokeathlon dome.

2. Gigarte- In the wake of the Lenolia disaster, the former residents founded this underground city to live as naturally as possible. It is essentially a glass dome with filtered air vents and artificial lighting to mimic the outside world. There’s plenty of grass and trees around, and the flower gardens rival those of Floaroma town! There’s also a gym, contest hall, and pokeathlon dome.

3. Lenolia- The pollution from Petropolis has left the city of Lenolia a desolate place. Not only has it become a haven for poison, ghost, and dark pokemon, but gangs and criminals have also made the city their home. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

4. Port Barley- This is the major port of Furoh. It’s often called the “Gateway to Furoh,” for most of the foreign trainers pass through its streets. As a port, there is plenty of fine shopping and dining on the boardwalk. There’s also a beach, a pokemon fan club, and a warehouse district (though it’s not exactly the safest place around). Port Barley does not have it’s own gym or hall, but they do have a pokeathlon dome.

5. Fidona- Both the island and the capital share the same name, and both were founded by an alliance of Amazon tribes. Once a fortress against outsiders, the capital is now populated with tourists and trainers looking for their next adventure. The dense rainforests provide homes for pokemon found nowhere else in Furoh. Its beaches are among the most beautiful around, some are well-kept secrets. There’s also a gym, contest hall, and pokeathlon dome, though the dome is further north on the island.

6. Arasam- Carved into the west side of Mt. Carello, Arasam is a testament to the might of its founder. The city proves to be a mining town, extracting gold and valuable ores from the dormant volcano. It also serves as a popular rest stop for those attempting to reach the peak of Mt. Carello. There’s also a gym, contest hall, and pokeathlon dome.

7. Daioh- The scientific capital of Furoh is built on a manmade island that floats in the ocean. As a model for the future, Daioh is home to the latest technology. It’s not uncommon to see several flying cars cruising through the forest of skyscrapers.

8. Aridana- An oasis in the middle of the desert, Aridana was founded by a band of lost travelers who found refuge at a large pond. This pond happened to be on top of a large reservoir of ground water. The town was built around the body of water, becoming a central attraction for visitors. It’s famous for it’s water park and crops of dates and coconuts.

9. Baccate- A quiet town in the east, Baccate is the premier source for berries and apricorns. The residents here pride themselves in their botany skills, forming rumors of an intense rivalry with Gigarte botanists. The town is centered around the famous Bloomfield Plantation, whose family ensures the harvests are in tip-top shape.

10. Daas (Created by Alex Slasher)- Situated on the south coast of Furoh, Daas would be the perfect holiday destination. However, the residents do not wish their home to become an urbanized location, so have made the effort to keep the beauty of where they live a secret. Luckily, it has worked; Daas only gets a couple of groups of visitors per year, and these are mainly good friends or family of the residents.
In Daas there are quite a few houses, and altogether the number of residents is about fifty. The town is sufficiently large enough to have a Pokemon center and seeing as many youngsters are brought up to want to be trainers, there is also a small Laboratory, where the usual starters are. However, there is no shop in the town, partly because there are lots of people who make their own items, such as Alex Slasher's mum, who makes berry smoothies.
To the north of Daas, there is Daas forest, a small forest with quite a few Pokemon who are abundant. Examples include Heracross, Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Spinarak and Wurmple, although other species often migrate here in the colder part of the year.
Daas beach, which is an extension of the town itself, is sunny for most of the year. just a little east of Daas is a cave known to the residents as Jukka cave. It's a very small cave, but is rather scary, and only the bravest of trainers choose to enter it. Inside live Zubats, Shelloses, Sandshrews and the occasional Gastly.

11. Daigake (Created by Nogster)- Daigake is a small oceanside village atop a tall cliff. Some houses are built in the cliff wall and on outcroppings in the cliff along a metal walkway that goes all the way down to the ocean. At the base of the cliff, there is a small beach and a partly unexplored cave, which holds an underground lake.
Daigake is known for it's big red lighthouse, which towers above the other buildings atop the cliff. On the cliff-side there's an old man, living in a hut, which very much resembles a wepear berry. This man is the Name Rater of Furoh and even though he's gone somewhat bananas and looks like he's got the mentality of a slowpoke, he still sees the difference between a good, a bad and a marvelous pokémon nickname.

12. Jillius (Created by Alex Slasher)- Jillius is a small town on the North coast of Furoh. It's very serene and quiet, and as Tyson Parker commented, many people have described it as quaint.
Jillius is in many ways similar to Daas. It's situated on the coast, it's a lovely holiday destination, but still managed to stay rather quiet. The little town has a small Pokemon center and a small shop.
Unlike Daas, Jillius is on the north coast, so is quite cold for most of the year apart from summer where the beach and sea are populated by to odd travelling trainer.
In the town lives a famous trainer, Marc Thomas. He was the first person the defeat all four trainers in Furoh. However, he didn't want to be Champion, so decided to retire to a Jillius where he still lives, happy to battle any young hotshot trainer.

13. Loch Ranch- The only large-scale breeding and daycare center in Furoh. The ranch has vast fields and a variety of habitats to ensure its residents are happy and cared for. Many trainers send their extra pokemon to live on the pastures rather than sit in a computer box. The ranch is also famous for its hatchery; many scientists entrust their most valuable pokemon pairs to the staff. Mr. Loch is always welcoming to visitors; come early enough and you might get some breakfast.

14. Aridana Desert- The desert lies north of Mt. Carello and surrounds the town of Aridana. It is a harsh environment, with sweltering daytime highs and chilly nighttime lows. It is not a place for the inexperienced trainer. On top of the elements, travelers must also be wary of the various ground and rock pokemon. Still, trainers make a point to reach this desolate place for a chance to capture dragon pokemon like gible and vibrava.

15. Pokeringer Stadium- In honor of their flying pokemon heritage, Gigarte has set up a stadium for pokeringer competitions. The game involves flying pokemon attempting to grab a ring from a hot-air balloon and bring it to the targeted area. Competitors are matched in one-on-one matches until only one remains. The winner gets a shopping spree to various environmentally friendly boutiques, a free vegetarian buffet, and the title of “Wingmaster”.

16. Mt. Carello- The highest point in all of Furoh, Mt. Carello marks the center of the continent. It’s not actually a mountain, but a dormant volcano. It’s interior is home to cave-dwelling pokemon as well as fire pokemon seeking warmth. The peak is home to ice pokemon who love the year round snowfall. Surrounding the volcano is a huge area of highland rainforest brimming with pokemon species and other secrets.

17. Marowak Graveyard- On the outskirts of Lenolia lies the breeding grounds for wild Marowak. The ground is littered with the pokemons’ skulls, along with a population of cubone mourning their losses. Ghost and dark pokemon roam the area, keeping nosy humans away from the haunted site. It’s rumored that a mausoleum lies in the center, but no one has yet braved the gravesite.

18. Castle Vonmoto- On the peak of Mt. Carello, wealthy billionaire Alonzo Vonmoto has a winter residence. He hosts a random assortment of trainers to explore the variety of rooms in the castle. This serves to produce bonds of friendship among people who wouldn’t normally cross paths. It has recently finished rebuilding and is now open to travelers seeking shelter. Mr. Vonmoto, however, is not present.

19. Under Hill- Another underground town, Under Hill was once a science experiment funded by Daioh to support the prospect of underground living in the even of a disaster. Unlike Gigarte, the town kept its trademark rock walls and stalagmites/stalactites. People live and work in caves within the walls. They produce the finest mushroom crop around. Under Hill also provides an entrance/rest stop for travelers wanting to traverse the underground tunnels in search of spheres, fossils, evolution stones, and more.

20. Charizard Isle (Created by Xal)- Charizard Isle is a newly discovered volcanic island with huge cliffs, black sandy beaches and a large forest. Due to harsh weather conditions there has been little attempt to colonize it; there are few buildings besides a small port and pokémon center. This leaves the pokémon, two thirds of normal size, relatively undisturbed. Many pokémon live inside the mountain, which is accessible by a network of caves. Obviously, the island’s most well known residents are the charmanders, charmeleons, and the occasional charizard.

21. Arthro Town- Bordering the highland rainforests, Arthro Town is famous as a mecca for bug pokemon. It isn’t clear why so many bug pokemon call this area their home, which is why a research station was set up here. The scientists here hold bug-catching contests to study the number of species within the forest without the legwork. All participants get to keep one bug pokemon while the winner receives a bug net engraved with his/her name and the title “Netmaster”.

22. Windwhisper Island- A quiet island that provides a refuge for various water pokemon. During a massive hurricane, the island’s cove protected a pod of wailord and their young from the storm’s fury. Since then, the island has been a hotspot for whale watching (though the whale pokemon are protected from capture within the cove). This is also home to the Whirl Cup, a competition solely for water pokemon. Winners gain the Mystic Water pendant and the title of “Sea Hero of Furoh,” in honor of the island’s role as protector.

23. Crystal Lake- The name is a misnomer, for it is actually a very large manmade pond. It was constructed by Petropolis in memory of the Lenolia disaster. The “lake” and surrounding wetlands provide a habitat for various water pokemon. Of course, there are plenty of lakeside homes for the upper middle class Petropolitans to make their home. Crystal Lake is also the site for the Fish-Catching Tourney. Whoever catches the biggest water pokemon is declared “Fishmaster”. Winners also receive a Super Rod engraved with his/her name, and all participants get to keep one water pokemon among their catch.

24. Safari Zone- Furoh’s Safari Zone lies on an island north of Fidona. The park was started by Lonnie Vonmoto, who wanted to create a place where trainers could form bonds with others, as well as catch rare pokemon. Trainers stay at the Safari Outpost Resort, while enjoying vast amenities on Wynaut Way. The biggest attraction is the Safari Zone, which is divided into several environments to support a wide variety of pokemon. Although all kinds of pokemon can be captured within the park, its main draw is being the only place in Furoh to catch rare Unova pokemon (as of this writing).

25. Demalr Cave: Demalr Cave formed not eons ago but a few weeks ago. A sinkhole appeared south of Gigarte after a tremor in the region. All sorts of fire pokemon have made their home here, perhaps former residents of the Carello caves. WHile people are excited about the prospect of a new hot spring spa, scientists are worried about the sudden increase in geothermal activity. Is Mt. Carello waking up? With the spring appearing so far from the dormant volcano, is it possible that the volcano is much larger than previously thought? How will the tremors affect the stability of Gigarte precious biosphere? If this cave isn't studied soon, thousands of lives could be at risk.

Note that since this is a sink hole, one would have to climb down the entrance rather than walk.

26. Starfall Field: Starfall Field is located northeast of Aridana Desert and southeast of Daigake. It was once a lush grassland dotted with meteorites. After the events of PokeCon, the grass was replaced by the fine purple-gray grains of stardust and many more meteorites, the remnants of the great meteor shower that rained down upon the area. It now resembles the surface of a moon, with very few plants around.

Close to the center of the field, there is a large statue depicting two abstract figures. One resembles a person, while the smaller figure appears to be some four-legged pokemon. It was built in memory of those lost in the giant meteor shower. Names of those lost are engraved on the base of the statue. It is custom for visiting trainers to leave an empty pokeball at the statue, signifying the undying bond between trainer and pokemon.

Despite its tragic past, Starfall Field remains a very popular destination for trainers and tourists alike. It’s a great place for stargazing, souvenir shops are cropping up, and a pokemon center has recently been built. There’s also an eclectic bunch of pokemon for trainers to go after, mainly within the two landmarks of the area.

27. Massive Meteor Mountain: In the center of Starfall field lays the giant space rock that nearly destroyed much of Furoh. With the help of the legendary Regis and the golurk army, the meteor was set down safely. As its name suggests, the meteor is huge: all of Arasam could fit inside. The rock is littered with tunnels used by Elgyem during the daytime. Trainers also venture inside, but the paths are treacherous. Tunnels can go straight up for several stories, or straight down. Those not paying attention could get lost or seriously hurt.

Spelunkers have reported that it becomes significantly cooler as one travels deeper within the meteor. No one is sure why, as there is no known access to the core of the meteor.

28. The Underworld: Beneath Starfall Field lays an ancient world recently rediscovered in modern times. It is a vast underground rainforest kept alive by a large lake and artificial sunlight from a volcarona hive. Pokemon once known as fossils thrive in this refuge, and trainers are sure to take advantage of this.

The area is also home to the Temples of the Regis. Three of the temples represent an element: rock, steel, or ice. Within these temples are puzzles and pokemon related to these elements, some quite deadly if one is not careful. Strangely, the Regis are not found; it is rumored they are responsible for changing the puzzles around. The last temple, Temple Gigas, is rather unknown. No one has explored the catacombs out of fear of the army of goletts and golurk that patrol the temple. Most visitors remain in the main room to bear witness to the dormant form of Regigigas sitting in his throne.
