Has anyone ever given up on a Shiny hunt? If so, how many eggs did you hatch before deciding to call it quits?
I participated in the Site-wide Shiny Burmy hunt and got my shiny after 146 eggs. But now I'm doing a personal one for a shiny Amaura, I've hatched 117 eggs, and I feel like this one has taken at least twice as long with no end in sight. I'm getting really frustrated, but Amaura is one of my favorites and I love it's shiny version... I just don't know if I have the heart to keep going :\ Edit: Alternately, on average, how many eggs did you have to hatch before you got the Shiny you were after? Not really. I've cancelled one hunt actively to to get the achievement. Other than that, all my cancelled hunts are either lost shiny races that got cancelled without me having anything to say about it or because I didn't pay attention to the setting for auto cancel, or they are SWSHs that I had running for pokemon I already had shiny and didn't hunt for any other reason than the SWSH itself.

I think the only time I intentionally canceled a hunt was for that one achievement.

I cancelled my first shiny hunt as soon as I hatched enough eggs to get my achievement. Though I did start it just to test how shiny hunts and Honey+ works.
Besides that, the only one I cancelled was my third SWSH shiny hunt. And I probably shouldn't have. -------------------- |

I usually quit all of my SWSH hunts that lingers after the SWSH itself ends. Otherwise, no, I usually try to see my Shiny Hunts through.
Though I'm starting to become tempted to hunt this Deino hunt. -------------------- |

I quit hunts if people stop breeding or aren't breeding that Pokemon. Unless I like that Pokemon, I don't want to waste space in my hunting log

117 eggs? That's nothing! I spent 1,210 eggs getting my Furfrou, and 805 eggs getting my Cubchoo. I've got multiple hunts of over 600.
You just have to keep going. Especially if you want all your Arceus forms. |

The only times I've ever cancelled hunts were when I needed the achievement for a one-egg shiny hunt and when I'd find a hatched shiny of whatever I was hunting. The latter doesn't apply as much now, though, as I like to finish hunts no matter what.

No matter how long your hunt's been going, your shiny could hatch with the next one.
The only real reason to give up on a hunt is if you don't have room for the Site-Wide Shiny Hunt when it comes up. |

Canceld a Burmy hunt for the sake of the achievment. Other than that I am never giving up!

Never. Not even for the achievement.
