Final Fantasy XIII. Who else has it for XBOX 360 or PS3? Who is your favorite character, what is the worst boss you've encountered, and why do you like this game?

My favorite is Fang, so far I've gotten up to the Midlight Reaper which is a total bitch to kill, I got it down to 30k health and it railgun'd Sazh. I love this game because it really was quite intricate. I like the detail put into it, really.

I like Final Fantasy XIII in the same way I liked Transformers 3. All the stupid crap was expected by this point. It's going to be stupid in this way, stupid in this way, and I came to terms with it. I almost felt like I was congratulating them for using a fork all by themselves.

I mean, it's not as bad as how some of the other games have been bad, but in other ways... No unskippable cutscenes, no junctioning, both fantastic voice acting and translation, no minimal laughable character design, settings that blend together well, conservative fanservice, no tedious and unrewarding minigames, etc. However we have our annoying characters, an unintentionally silly and boring plot that doesn't fully clarify itself, overly linear gameplay with nothing but hallways to walk through, and a battle system that we don't get to fully experience 'till Disc 3.

I do have hopes for the sequel, however. I don't really have high expectations, but they're very aware of the mixed reaction they got from XIII and they seem to be addressing some of the more major problems. I'm willing to check it out.

I really liked Final Fantasy XIII. I'm excited for the next game, I hope it will be better.

Hope was my favorite character. He was the most realistic one there, not by appearance, but by character. Most players I've met hated him, because he was a "momma's boy." (SO WAS SEPHIROTH LOLOLOLOL) For me, he was the most well developed character in the game. I mean, how would you feel if the only person in your family you spent time with died? How would you feel if you became something which everyone hates? People also disliked him because of the fact he didn't kill Snow when he got the chance. Dude, he's just a kid. Do you expect him to really kill Snow? Taking someone's soul isn't easy. As the story progresses, Hope actually becomes more valiant and somewhat meaningful. He was actually the one that helped Lightning become a better person.

I don't know why people didn't really like this game. The battle system was good, the story was good, and the soundtrack kicks ass. One of the bad things of the game is that it takes away your freedom, but it was necessary because of what was happening. Sure, it may not be as good as the older games, but it's still a great game.

and a ps, most of the time FF isn't really stupid about its plot, it's just something that deals with whether or not you like the style of plot or if you don't like taking the time to analyzing it. I'm not really one of those plot fanboys (almost close) but it gets weird to process when you have a very realistic sort of character development mixed with a fantasy setting (like the fact that I can connect with Squall's mindset because it really does happen to people in real life).

Double posting with an update of sorts and with permission from... well, myself, before anyone accuses me of power abusing (you guys can get permission to double post too if it's valid!) But anyways... parts of the soundtrack have been released (battle theme and archylte steppe, can't think of what the latter battle theme reminds me of) and I am wondering what you guys think?

I love the released music, the music for FFXIII was great, but this... it's pretty dang good. Imo, of course.

That cover art is sexy. It's not too different from FF13's in a way- it has Lightning on the left side instead, facing backwards... and this time she shows a very regal sort of beauty. It's very fitting considering the general tone this game seems to have.

Also, A Song for Time's Poem, also pretty great.

I really like the idea behind FFXIII. The characters were amazing and the graphics, oh god. The gameplay was a bit odd, but I liked it as well. My most unfavorite boss was Barthandelus. I hate him. I haven't beaten the game yet though; I need to soon.

I think I'm going to like FFXIII-2 way more than the first one. I can't wait till it comes out; I think I'm going to get the collector's edition, but I don't know which store I'll get it from since they're offering different rewards depending on where you buy it from. Probably won't be Gamestop; Either best buy or amazon. A new costume just doesn't seem as nice compared to the other bonuses, even though I hate Serah's default costume.

My top 3 fave characters are Sazh *down to earth kind of guy* Lightening and Vanille *She has some nice quotes and I'm probably the only person not to be annoyed with her voice. Her running? not so much*

I'm a big Final Fantasy nut in general, but XIII I love especially. I love how well they did the whole girl power thing in XIII versus X-2 (as much as I love X-2, they kinda failed in that respect). I adored all 3 girls. The guys on the other hand.... Sahz was the only one I really liked. Snow and Hope were almost hopeless (pun intended).

I haven't had a chance to get XIII-2 yet, but I'm hoping to sometime this month. Can't wait.

Final Fantasy XIII was actually the reason I got my XBox 360 (well, I'd been planning to get one eventually, this just made me get it sooner). I saw the game and really thought it looked awesome, and I was right. It's one of my favorite games. I really liked the story and the stories behind the characters.
My favorite character would have to be Vanille, she's adorable. I love her upbeat and childish attitude. I just wish it'd ended differently.
My least favorite boss - Enki and Enlil. I HATED fighting them. The gave me a lot of trouble.
I have beaten it and cleared all the missions, though not with 5 stars for them all. I haven't played in a while. I'll have to play it again soon.

Being one of the few that actually liked XIII, even I admit that XIII-2 is a huge improvement, in so many areas. People say XIII was very linear. X was very linear; XIII was just a straight line from start to finish. However, I got so blended in with the graphics and stuff I never really noticed xD. I did like its story. XIII-2 is unlinear to the point of frustration (at times). :P To me, though, linearityingness has always been more of a style, as opposed to a flaw. So I don't really mind playing those types of games.

xiii wasn't a straight line in gran pulse

if the entire game were like gran pulse it'd be phenomenal. I still really love FFXIII, but there was a good (plot related) reason for it being linear.
