I wouldn't be able to decide. The one problem with salamance is he's fat. BUT my friend is making/has one that is good against 12 types, so I might have to say salamance is a better battler. Flygon's like a mantis, though.

Type-wise, Garchomp wins...

Garchomp is first on everyone's priority list nowadays to be booted up to Ubers, if anything is to go up. Salamence is nowhere near.

It depends on the person. Most people who are into competitive battling prefers Salamence, but I personally prefer Flygon. It also depends how the person want to use it in battle. Flygon provides great speed, but Salamence provide great power.

Flygon. Salamence looks really cool, but I can't stand those suedo legandaries. At least he isn't as bad as Garchomp, but he's still used by noobs all around the world.

Not true.
In fact, the choice between Flygon and Salamence is not down to base stats, rather down to their movepool and typing.
While they both have a x 4 weakness to ice, flygon is immune to both electric (thunder wave) and ground (levitate).
This means it has an easier time switching in and an easier time switching out as it has access to U-Turn, somehtin other dragons only wish they had.
Also, I'm into competitive battling but I despise Salamence, I'd always use Flygon > Salamence xD

It's obviously a OHKO type pokemon.

Flygon Stats:

Speed: 4/5

Not very good stats...

So Salamence is the stronger pokemon. But I would rather have a Flygon in my party.

Flygon, hands down. Salamence is frigging hideous and is ANOTHER redundant Dragon/Flying. Flygon on the other hand is not only much easier on the eyes, it's also a nice type combination while still having the levitating quality.

Oh and for the record Flygon isn't a dragonfly. It's more based on an ant-lion, hence the wtf "larval" stage, Trapinch. Adult ant-lions resemble dragonflies, that's where the resemblance ends (nevermind the fact that it looks more like a case of convergent evolution of archosaurid and insectoid as a whole, but eh).

I am going to say Salamence. Was a complete favorite before Garchomp came into play, now I don't know which one i like best. =D

Flygon. I used to dislike it at first, but since having it on my Emerald team, I love it to pieces~ I like it's design better than Salamence.


... I hate Salamence, actually. It looked stupid in the anime how it just kinda... hovered, rather than actually use its wings. e_e;

My Salamence is one of my favorite pkmns, and i spent quite a while in his breeding and training...took me quite a bit for it to breed with the attacks, gender, personality that I wanted. So yeah i do prefer Salamence. However flygon aint that bad either Im considering to keep him on my Platinum party.

Salamance all the way. When i first discovered that pokemon, i was all over that dragon. Flygon is cool, and i love his goggle type eye covers, but salamance is still better in my eyes

I like Flygon way more. Up until fifth gen he has always been my favorite dragon, especially since he's based off an ant-lion instead of just some stereotypical dragon.

I got to say, Salamence and Flygon have same speed according to Bulbapedia.org, and i like Flygon despite his weaker physical and special attack stats because he has STAB on earthquake, levitate, and access to u-turn, making him a powerful asset when used properly. And plus i hate overused, and i would rather have Garchomp or Dragonite over Salamence, and definitely Flygon over Salamence, because i prefer finesse over brute strength.

I certainly have to go with Salamence.

Unlike Flygon, it's a pseudo-legendary. Also, as others claim that it's a brute-force Pokémon, that's the best part about Salamence. Salamence is also Über-awesome. Because of this Smogon had to contain its awesomeness by throwing it in the Über section, putting the Über in its Über-awesomeness.

Flygon. It's cuter and has better typing. It can't be hit by ground type attacks and rock type attacks aren't very effective. The two things my team is weak to.

I have to say flygon, but only because I really don't like Salamence. Flygon looks more nicer and graceful, both normal and shiny. I haven't used either of them in battle, so I can't judge on that department.

I think Flygon can win against Salamance, both can use Dragon-Attacks and can use the weakness of the other one. It depends of who gets the first strike...

And I like Flygon more than Salamance anyway. Salamance looks just... weird.

That's really hard question.

They both are cute, honestly. I actually caught both bagon(shelgon now, male) and trapinch(vibrava, female) in emerald.
But I guess I'll use vibrava, only a couple of levels and it will evolve - it's also the only pokemon in my team who knows ground-type moves so I can't really delete her anymore. It would have ben too easy with salamence anyways

Before I actually thought that Flygon was bug/dragon type.. It would really suit much better.

But like I said, awesome pokemon, both of them. ♥
