Okay, so, here's a random question, but...
Say you have one of the Male Pikachu with the move Fly, from Yellow Forest, and you breed it. Will fly pass on to it's children like other HMs are suppose to? Or have they blocked it? If anyone knows and has, or can, test this, I'd love to know. -------------------- |

I can't say for sure since I don't have it but when it comes to breeding mechanics the game selects moves based on what they can learn.
If they can learn it via TM and HM, and if both parents have one of it's level up moves while breeding, they can learn it. Then there's egg moves. If the father has Wish, it passes to the offspring since Wish is an egg move. To put this in perspective: The PBR Pikachu, AKA the only surfing Pikachu obtainable outside Japan at the moment. (and a certain event.) Sure she's female, but if she breeds with a Marril with Surf, then by theory the resulting Pichu would have it, since offspring learn moves both parents can learn. But the result is null and void, Pichu cannot learn Surf by any other means. (Otherwise I'd be on cloud nine with a Timid Male Raichu with Surf that I can nickname.) So, it's safe to say that since Pichu cannot learn Fly by HM, that even if you breed a Flying Pikachu from Yellow Forest, the resulting offspring will not have Fly as a move. |

I don't know where or how you did that, but since Pichu can't learn ANY HM, I find it highly unlikely that a Pikachu can breed a Pichu with Surf or Fly. Still, that would be pretty awesome if it could...

I'm still attempting to get a Pikachu with Fly. All I'm finding are normal ones. But once I get a flying one, I'll test it. ^w^

After doing some more research I'm going to have to say that no, breeding a Flying Pikachu does not mean you get a Pichu with Fly.
It can only be bred with the moves it can learn via level up, the TM moves it can learn if taught and these select moves: -Bide -Charge -DoubleSlap -Encore -Fake Out -Present -Flail -Reversal -ThunderPunch -Tickle -Volt Tackle -Wish This post has been edited by Drunkenwhale: Dec 1 2009, 01:00 PM |

Was it seriously necessary to make your entire post purple? That is so annoying. Colors should only be used for emphasizing a point.

Illegitimately, yes, it is possible for a Pikachu to inherit the HM Fly from its parents. But if you're willing to put time and effort into hunting down a legit Pikachu in the forest that knows Fly, then go ahead and be my guest~
