All Johto lines were the best but this line is awesome. Meganium is at the top of my favorites list. However it's annoying that it's a defensive pokemon and the Nintendo gave him such an awful move set.

Meganium is powerful and cool, but after playing SoulSilver, I prefer Typhlosion.

It has quite a balanced design, plus it was my first lvl 100 when i first played gold some 10 years ago.

The design is okay but...the truth is that its color scheme repels me. That green is painful combined with pink and yellow, at least in my opinion.

I liked the movesets of a Meganium in the game Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness because it could receive the move Frenzy Plant and even with a 6 to 8 level difference on Mt Battle, it's powerful enough to take down a level 65 ◙ Quagsire who has a quad weakness to the grass. It has 150 power and only 90 accuracy. I favor in a lot of the powerful Grass moves such as Solar Beam which requires a charge turn on the first turn unless there's sunlight which has a power of 120 and 100 accuracy. The only thing I hate about it is when it was on Cipher Admin Lovrina's side, it was holding Brightpower and my level 60 Rapidash's Flamethrower missed. How could Flamethrower miss? We all trained to level 60 to take part in the Orre Colosseum. All of Lovrina's Pokemon had moves that could stall and thanks to my Gameshark, if I ever manage to train my team to level 100, it's possible for me to get a Meganium with 364 max HP, 4 more than Typhlosion's and 291 Special Attack but I had a Docile Nature Meganium in my last game. Kind of random. I've seen other people on Colosseum with a Serious nature Meganium and a Naughty Nature Flygon with all Special Attacks when that nature is beneficial to Attack. If I plan on using a Johto starter, I'd make it part of my team and have all my friends battle them with good movesets.

If you were talking about movesets and whatnot, I'd shoot down Meganium for Venusaur, Sceptile or Torterra. Serperior is okay... defensively and pretty much a terror with Contrary, but that's not what we're talking about.
Design-wise, however, I give Meganium one thumbs up. I can see the dinosaur aspect they were going for in the design, and... Well, I was a huge fan of dinosaurs and whatnot. Nowadays, it just looks kinda odd, but still okay. The plant, necklace thing is a bit out of place, to be honest. I don't know how, but it just looks off to me. I do like Meganium. It's absolutely adorable and I love the design. Though I tend to prefer the other two starters when I play.

Meganium/Chikorita is my least liked starter. I never really fancied grass types, with the exception of Torterra, Ferrothorn, and Lilligant.

Loved the way it was bulky and could use both Reflect and Light Screen. It's a good supporter but not so hot on the offensive side of things.

Meganium is cool because it is an evolution of Chikorita, the cutest Pokemon ever.
In all seriousness though, I like Meganium a lot, both Screens and Aromatherapy and all the other great support stuff, it's just a pity that it's not very good competitively. Leaf Guard by Dream World, Game Freak? Really? That's almost as bad as Damp for Swampert >_> -------------------- PANE (click to show ) |

My name-change history being a hint, I love meganium. It's one of my alter-egos. I have fun trying to replicate it on Spore.

It's not that I don't like Meganium, it's just that I prefer the other two starters in the Johto lineup. Meganium is nice, though; I like the overall design (don't care for the middle stage, but those tend to be hit or miss for me. For example, I love Quilava but don't care for Croconaw), I just wish he had some better moves. :/
After months of half-heartedly soft resetting for a shiny starter in my HG game (because I couldn't decide between Toto or Cynda), I came across this thread and picked up a Chikorita! Named him Otis, lol. Edit: Well hey, what do you know? Otie caught Pokerus! It's the first time I've ever actually gotten the virus. Thank you, Meganium thread haha. c: -------------------- |

I have a Meganium on my Nuzlocke. I totally adore it now, probably more than Thyplosion even (and before my nuzlocke I never deviated from the fire starter).
