As soon as possible? Obviously if it has all the moves you want, then making its stats go much higher would be better than leaving it in a weak stage.

I hope this isn't considered bumping a dead topic, but I don't want to post a whole new topic just for this set...
@Focus Sash Jolly 252 Attack / 252 HP / 4Def -Toxic Spikes -Counter -Sucker Punch -Earthquake I designed this set for a Bruno themed team, and I needed a Toxic Spiker, and this was the only Pokemon there was. I figured that he had decent enough Speed to get both down if I was facing a typical suicide lead (SRocks followed by Boom). However, it has access to a pretty devastating combo in Counter and Sucker Punch. Also, I've come across a few DDMence and DDos leads lately on Shoddy that focus solely on statting up to try and get a decent sweep early game. However, after Spiking, Nidoking can Counter their attack, survive, and then outspeeed and KO with Sucker Punch (obviously this is only required if they have Focus Sashes themselves, which they rarely do.) It's a gimmick, but it's good fun. Roserade is the clear superior choice, but in UU, (Roserade's still OU, right?) King does this fairly well, I feel. -------------------- |

It seems that this thread is basically inactive, but I'll post here first to avoid rule infringements.
Pokemon: Level 100 Articuno (shiny, not that it affects anything, but that makes it way more awesome) Stats: HP - 367 Attack - 209 Defense - 234 Sp. Attack - 183 Sp. Defense - 257 Speed - 260 Moves: Ice Beam Blizzard Sheer Cold Mind Reader Held Item: Still to be decided. Considering Focus Band/Sash, NeverMeltIce/Icicle Plate, Leftovers, or some berry. Suggestions welcome. Note: This is on my Platinum game, migrated from FireRed, I think. It's going to be used for battling at Pokemon League (real life weekly meeting to battle, trade, compete, and team up.) Right now I've got an offensive moveset for it, but I'm considering teaching it Rest or Recover. With Articuno's above average defensive capabilities, I'm thinking Mind Reader-Sheer Cold should take out just about anything. -------------------- |

Uhhh...no need for both Ice Beam and Blizzard. And Sheer Cold is one of those banned moves. Which makes Mind Reader useless. So now you are down to one move. Ice Beam or Blizzard. Take Ice Beam, since it has more PP, which is more suitable for a wall like Articuno.
This...also seems to be an in-game Pokemon. Not competitive. Your stats, to put it bluntly, suck. Your Special Attack stat isn't even legal. The lowest possible Special Attack for an Articuno is 203. You have 183. Anyways, Leftover is really the only good item for Articuno. So now we've decided that. Unfortunately, you didn't post your nature, which was kinda required. So I can't say anything about that. Looks pretty helpless, actually. It's shiny, which means you probably don't want to give it up. So whatever nature it has now is permanent. Anyways, onto...whatever you can do with it. Give it Ice Beam, Toxic, Roost, and maybe Hidden Power if you're lucky to get a good type. If not, then Substitute or Reflect. Honestly, Articuno sucks. It's not suited for offensive play, and defensively it's pretty useless. I wouldn't use it if I were you. -------------------- |

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Sand Veil Adamant 252 Attack/252 Speed/4 HP - Dragon Claw - Earthquake - Crunch - Fire Fang This is for the Battle Tower, single battle. Sneaking in an Uber... heheh. Anyway, he's a physical sweeper without any support from other Pokemon. Dragon Claw is for Salamence, Dragonite, other Garchomp, and other expected Dragon-type Pokemon, a long with STAB. Earthquake serves as a stronger attack that also has STAB. It also helps with higher defensive Rock and Steel-type Pokemon. Crunch is probably the least helpful of Garchomp's attacks. Mainly for type coverage, it adds Psychic and Ghost to the super-effective list. Fire Fang was originally to help against Ice-types, but I haven't encountered very many Ice-type Pokemon, so that plan failed. It has proven to be helpful against Shedinja and has sped-up battles against Grass-types. I'm pondering on whether I should replace this with Brick Break. Brick Break's more powerful, would help counter support Ninjask, it - unlike Fire Fang - is normal effective against Ice, but doesn't help much in terms of super-effectiveness. -------------------- I say... whatever it is I'm saying.

This saves me from making a whole new thread! [Latios] @ [NeverMeltIce] [Levitate] [Serious] [EVs- um I'm not sure] -[Dragon Claw] -[Psychic] -[Ice Beam] -[Thunderbolt] [Description of Pokemon] This is a pokemon i'm using in Emerald, so I cant use Items like Wise glasses or expert belt. It's really hard to get a timid nature for an one-off runaway like latios so I guess I'm stuck with serious. Anyways, Latios is my Special sweeper, good for things like Heracross. Since I'm using him in the Battle fronteir, I won't run into things like Blissys, at least for normal people. A lot of the moves are self explanitory: Dragon claw and Phychic for stab, Ice beam to pwn dragons and thunderbolt to stop water types who usually know ice beam. I;m worried about status effects and things. One small thing like thunder wave can put a dent in Latios' sweeping. Advice? I would replace ice beam/dragon claw for safegaurd.(dragon types are weak to dragons and safegaurd stops the status) -------------------- |

Kingdra@life orb
Mild Swift Swim 120 Atk / 230 SpA / 156speed DRAGON DANCE Outrage Hydro Pump Dragon Pulse This is a moveset, I plan to use when I buy SoulSilver and a new DS. I have been out of battling for ages, but I would like to know, would this set actually work? The main part of this set, is the special moves, I suppose I could take out some EVs out of spattack and put them into attack because of the nature. Hydro Pump is for raw power, instead of surf. Draco Meteor isn't there because I want this to not just be a hit and run pokemon, but something that can stay in for a while. I may consider taking some EVs out, of speed and putting it into HP, to make it a little bit more bulkier. This set is meant to be a mixed bulkly sweeper. I think its a neat jynx) Ability: Static (for annoyance) Nature: Bold Moveset: Thunderpunch Rock Climb Discharge Signal Beam HP: Hrmm... about 124? Attack: Suppose... 101? Defense: Say... 104? Sp. Attack: 144 Sp defense: 123 Speed: 100 By the way, don't harshly insult me on it. I'm very proud of it. After all, it's my piggybank $$$! |

Thunderpunch and Rock Climb are useless on a Pokemon without any physical attacking stat. There's not much to replace it with. Thunder Wave helps your entire team out. I'm not sure what else you could use. Focus Blast, maybe. Keep Signal Beam and replace Discharge with Thunderbolt.

How about this Shuckle?? Shuckle (Chuck) Item: Leftovers Ability: Sturdy Nature: Relaxed (+Def/-Speed) EVs: 6 Hp, 252 Def, 252 SpDef -Toxic -Protect -Gyro Ball -Power Trick Shuckle really needs all the HP it can get. I don't know how well Power Trick works, but it seems like a gimmick move to me. Maybe Encore or Stealth Rocks could replace it, but if it works for you then that's fine. EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 28 SpD I agree with u on the power trick thing, if he really wants a move like that, he needs to use power share, its like the better power trick (i think ) here is a vid of TFS using a shuckle with power share: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXvVMzXiQjo it begins at: 4:59 but i suggest watching the whole vid |
