So this new thingy seems like something that could possibly help the site in terms of getting more users. However, users are already complaining about the impact it has on their loading times, especially while clicking.
So, what I wanted to suggest is to make it only appear on the poketch page. Then, it would still be on a page that we go to most of the time, but not be on the type of pages that we open loads of tabs of. --------------------   All my stuff is viewable by everyone on my public page. Make trinket offers faster  The Discord chat is a nice way to hang out with other users. |

I'd prefer a hide option as well, especially since I already +1'd and now it seems like when I load tabs, Opera just keeps deciding to crash.

I noticed this when I added it to my site as well. I think it's one of those things that only needs to be on certain pages, like the Pokétch, main page and maybe Stats or something.

I second the hiding suggestion. The button keeps causing Opera to crash!

First of all, it cannot cause lag at all with the site itself. The button API is being pulled directly from Google's servers, and only after everything else on the page loads. The button may take 1-2 seconds to appear, which you can call lag, but that's only for the button itself and not the site.
However, I have no idea about the supposed Opera crashes. Opera really needs to get their act together with things if that's true. Anyways, because of the complaints, I made it so that the button only shows on the Lab, Pokétch, Stats and Help pages. This way it doesn't interfere with your clicking. I could have created a callback function that's triggered when someone +1's the site, and had it hide it for that user, but what if it was faulty or if they later undo it elsewhere? I wouldn't be able to reshow it at all. I'm not interested in adding this in anyways, or adding more to the Settings tab to hide it. Not sure what was causing the lag then if the button couldn't, but my tabs are no longer loading/closing crazy slow like they were earlier, so something worked, thanks for this.

I'd prefer having an option to hide it, personally. I know you don't seem to be interested in adding it, but frankly, I don't even have a google account, nor do I really care to get one, so the button is completely and utterly useless to me, like the facebook buttons before it. I can see the benefit for those who have accounts (which I'm not sure google accounts are really all that widespread among GPXers, but any bit of promotion helps, I guess), but for those who don't have them or don't care to have them, it's just there... taking up space when it's not wanted, especially since it's being loaded every time we refresh on one of those pages... :/
Plus, the settings tab is already obscenely long, not like one extra option to consider is going to break the camel's back. -T- -------------------- |

._. I don't see why you guys are complaining. After all, it's only on the tabs which we don't use AS much as the others, and Nick has even changed it so it only shows up on specific pages.
It's only there, not like it's affecting you claiming eggs from the Daycare/Lab/Shelter or w/e
