So Iron Blooded Orphans is the newest gundam series and I'm wondering if anyone else is keeping up with it? Two episodes in and I'm loving it a lot. It feels very different to every other gundam series.

The basic plot is that Mars has been divided by the earth sphere's power blocs which have led to certain tension and turmoil. This division has also caused Mars' economy to be wholly dependent on the earth and has led to massive poverty everywhere, including horrific treatment of children.

The Third Corps of the CGS (Chryse Security Guard - Chryse being a city in Mars) are a bunch of orphans that were given nanomachines via surgery so that they could fight in the military. They're basically left to the dust and treated as cannon fodder by the entire CGS; the CGS leaves them to die on many missions and they come back alive. Their goal is strictly to survive and keep one another alive.

A politician's daughter, Kudelia Aina Bernstein, is basically the spokeswoman for the people of Mars and she's the symbol of their independence movement from the Earth Sphere, and she's set to be escorted by the Third Corps only to be ambushed by the Gyallerhorn, the Earth Sphere's autonomous military peacekeeping force. They are quite powerful, being armed with mobile suits and they attack parts of Mars to destroy any sense of rebellion to keep Mars under their thumb.

You can watch it subbed and for free (legally) at Daisuki and it is released every Sunday afternoon in Japan (which is 4:30am EST). Subs are up within a few hours of the initial airing.

Here's a snippet from episode 1 that actually got a bunch of my friends convinced to watch this: https://vid.me/v18P

And if you want to know here's the OP (Raise Your Flag by Man With A Mission): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PUOQ6QdTpM

And the ED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PmwgJOIksY

What do you guys think? Anyone seen it? Anyone interested in seeing it? Now's the perfect time - only two episodes released. You do not need any previous Gundam shows to watch this; it's standalone and exists within its own universe.

Dang, 3 episodes in and I'm thoroughly enjoying this. Never watched a Gundam series before, but I'm totally sold on this one. I don't think I've watched a super gritty anime series since original Fullmetal Alchemist.

So Season 1 has officially ended and it ended on a pretty good note. Unlike other season 1 endings in the series *cough00cough* *coughzetacough* i believed in the sign of zeta for 50 episodes and that's what I got sad.gif
