Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ Pokémon Animé _ When did you stop watching Pokemon?

Posted by: pokemaster43 Jun 16 2009, 11:33 AM

When did you guys stop watching Pokemon? For me it was when Misty left and May came.

Posted by: criimson butterflii Jun 16 2009, 11:39 AM

Shockingly, I still watch it. o.o

In the morning times when I get up and it's on cartoon network at seven to seven thirty.

...not sure why I still watch it though.

Posted by: Usagi Zakura Jun 16 2009, 12:49 PM

I stopped watching for a while when it was just too hard to find on TV (or just ran early in the morning when I was too lazy to get out)
Now I just watch the episodes I want to see on AnimeCrazy, so I can skip anything that focuses on Team Rocket but still see the Pokčmon I like.

Posted by: Gati Jun 16 2009, 01:25 PM

I stopped at the end of the first season (or around there)... but then started reading the manga (I'm getting bored of the manga too)...

I started watching the anime again, but no, it was worst than the first.

Posted by: Thlowe Jun 16 2009, 01:50 PM

I never started. bucktooth.gif
I am a huge fan of Pokemon, just not the television series or the films.

Posted by: Vanilla Villa Jun 16 2009, 03:53 PM

I used to watch it when I was little.
Then it became less about Pokemon and more about travelling around getting Gym badges and doing the same thing every episode sad.gif
I suppose I sort of grew out of it really.

iStopped Watching When The Hoenn Region Came Out
Something Strange Happened And It Pissed Me Off
Wasnt That The Region Were Brock Left And Came Back Almost Immediately?

Posted by: Flamer Jun 16 2009, 04:25 PM

At the begining of the Johto series. Just kinda grew out of it.

Posted by: Renji Tsukyomi Jun 16 2009, 04:34 PM

Orange Islands, dude. I stopped watching after the Orange Islands started.

Posted by: Aeronea Jun 16 2009, 05:51 PM

I think...when they got to sinnoh? Maybe?
I liked Kanto and Jhoto. Hoenn was alright. But sinnoh just kind of failed.

I mean I'll still watch it if there's nothing better on. But I just won't enjoy it like the Kanto episodes...

Posted by: Ulquiorra Cifer Jun 17 2009, 12:37 PM

I stopped watching the show at some point during the second reason.

Posted by: davinia Jun 17 2009, 01:05 PM

i pretty much stopped after 1st gen

Posted by: Justice Jun 17 2009, 03:04 PM

Hm. Right around the beginning of the Hoenn series, I believe. I just lost interest in waking up early every morning to watch it on Kids WB. That channel doesn't even exist anymore, if I'm not mistaken. It's called something else...but I forget what. If I saw it on, I'd watch it but I don't long for it now like I used to. It just isn't the same anymore.

I prefer to watch my Kanto and Johto cassettes. ^^

Posted by: yuna359 Jun 17 2009, 03:24 PM

when they got to Sinnoh. Ash winning every battle is getting annoying. Most of his good pokemon are MIA and Dawn is a crappy coordinator.

Posted by: PokemaniacDave Jun 19 2009, 03:21 PM

I true Pokemaniac like me never stops watching so I still watch almost every week.

Kind of upset I missed 2 or 3 episodes in all so far and one happened to be when
he battled Byron. Darn I wish I saw that battle so guess I'll try to find it online.

Posted by: Shaymin Girl Jun 19 2009, 08:21 PM

Watched a bunch of Kanto episodes, forgot when it was on. Watched like, all the Johto series on the internet, skipped hoenn except for a few episodes (was on too early) and now I watch Sinnoh every week. No matter how much it fails, I'll never stop watching. The failure makes me laugh. xD I did skip like, a bunch of Dp Battle Dimension episodes..cause...I was tired...or away..

Posted by: AuraAshley Jun 19 2009, 09:06 PM

i stopped watching it when it started becoming repetitive and that was back at the johnto series

Posted by: Poopsy Jun 21 2009, 03:50 PM

I stopped when they began adding more Pokemon. I was so used to the original 150, it broke my widdle heart sad.gif

Posted by: kubes Jun 21 2009, 03:53 PM

I stopped watching it after first season but I still watch the new stuff sometimes

Posted by: LT8 Jun 21 2009, 03:58 PM

I stopped after about the first 10 episodes of the Hoenn region. Then I started to watch it again when D/P came around. And now I still watch it.

Posted by: Purple no baka Jun 21 2009, 04:03 PM

When D/P started. Seriously guys, first you change Ashy's voice and now you add Miss Miniskirt?! No more Misty, no more May, no more Drew or Harley... God, why dontcha just stab me in the eyes now. And they !#@$ed up Gary's character!

"Friends 'till the end?"

PUKE. I puked. It was disgusting! (shivers)

Posted by: Serenity1863 Jun 25 2009, 11:23 AM

I stopped watching it when they changed the voices. To me that just ruined the show.

Posted by: Karl3328 Jun 25 2009, 05:24 PM

I still watch it here and there....I stopped watching every episode after Misty left, because then it wasn't the show I loved anymore :/

Posted by: Alxndr914 Jun 25 2009, 06:30 PM

Well, I stopped when Sinnoh came out, actually I stopped in Hoenn but still watched when didnt have anything better to do rolleyes.gif

Edit: I also hate that Dawn and the fact that Ash always wins everything... If he lost the first one, in the second he wins...

Oh and that Paul is the only one that is totally intelligent and kick Ash´s Butt

Posted by: Dirtyjerry Jun 26 2009, 02:07 AM

after the third season

Posted by: Sublastic Jun 27 2009, 03:15 AM

I stopped watching at the start of the Sinnoh region. It's boring, repetitive, Ash wins every battle, the animating is crappy, the voice actors are crappy, and too many new concepts. They really let me down.

Posted by: takeru Jun 27 2009, 03:37 AM

i still watch and not shure will i ever stop XD

same for me

Posted by: Mr PBJ Jul 2 2009, 09:42 PM

Pokemon Premiered when I was 4, it was awesome and the reason I got the games (up until Iwas like 8, I thought the games were based off the Anime :/), I watched until Johto ended, when Hoenn started, I watched the first few epsiodes and got to a time where barely watched it and eventually grew bored. The show pretty much went downhill after they dropped Misty...

Oh, and recently I decided to give it a chance and watched the first episode of D&P. it sucked. Haven't watched it ever since...

Posted by: TheFinalBlues Jul 2 2009, 10:20 PM

Stopped watching it religiously after the beginning of Hoenn. Nowadays I'll watch it if I see it's on, but I don't find it nearly as good.

Posted by: falloutboyfan Jul 2 2009, 10:27 PM

I stopped watching it a little after May and Max joined the journey, not because I got bored of the show but because cartoon network started playing it instead of WB and I didn't have cartoon network. When I'm over someone else's house I sometimes watch it and I've been thinking when I get more free time I may start reading the manga or watch the anime online....

Posted by: Legendarypikachu11 Jul 2 2009, 11:35 PM

After hoenn started. -x-'

I sometimes still watch it though. wink.gif

You stopped watching okemon for religious reasons yet are on a forum about it? LOL

Posted by: Lieutenant Sadism Jul 3 2009, 02:13 AM

When D/P arrived.
I have to agree with Purple no Baka. It was just...ugh..and Gary was my favorite! :<

Posted by: Xerias Jul 3 2009, 08:37 AM

I stopped after misty was gone.

Posted by: Contestshipping Pikachu Jul 3 2009, 08:45 AM

I've watched Pokemon since the first episode of the first season and I'm still watching it now. I'm going crazy looking all over the place for a Battle Dimension DVD. I admit, Dawn is a stupid coordinator and I like May as a coordinator much better, but still, it's fun to watch how her humongous Mamoswine used to disobey her (even as a Piloswine) just like Ash's Charizard did.

I'm a Dawn-hater. Basically, she's the only main coordinator that has lost at the Appeal Round twice in a row. Jessie did lose, but only once. Even May wasn't that bad. I was mortified when I discovered that Dawn beat May in the Wallace Cup.

Of course, I still watch through Sinnoh because the Pokemon there are both cool and weird. I still like Ash's Gym Battles and Dawn's epic failure.

EDIT: I just remembered this, but most people are probably going to kill me. I hate Misty and I was so happy to see her gone which was why I bought the Hoenn DVDs here and there. Of course, since they got rid of May too I got pissed off at Dawn, but oh well.

I agree too, Gary just got a personality make-up. Actually, there are a LOT of things I hate about the D/P season, but I still watch it because I love Pokemon so much.

Posted by: Lolly Jul 5 2009, 08:09 PM

The last episode I watched was when Dawn was introduced. Ugh

Posted by: Avegaille Jul 6 2009, 09:43 AM

I stopped watching when Pokemon started going HD. sad.gif

The episodes are too big to download. Plus it'll kill my computer if I try to watch it. xP

Posted by: bigmac Jul 6 2009, 11:00 AM

i still watch it! im a pokemon fan 100% and it wont stop! ill watch it until they really mess it up so bad that you couldnt watch it. but i dont think that will happen so until its over completly!thats when i will stop!

Posted by: Sheria Jul 6 2009, 11:05 AM

Lol, I didn't xD
I don't watch it all the time, just sometimes if I catch it about to start otherwise im a total gamer geek awesome.gif

Posted by: Roanax Jul 7 2009, 09:18 AM

I watched Kanto as a child and loved it, watched the Orange Islands and loved it more (sometimes I feel like I'm the only Tracey fan in existence), watched parts of Johto and liked the new Pokémon ... and then when it got to Hoenn, and I got to secondary school, I just politely flipped the animé series off and went on my merry way. I've never gone back, and seeing how bad the series has become as of late, I'm glad I stayed clear of it.

Posted by: Crup Jul 7 2009, 06:02 PM

I stopped watching them like in a row when May started then I would tune in whatever because her and her brother annoyed me :/ and then I tuned in one day and their voices changed O__O it was horrible. Like I know it is for kids and the dubbing is probably off but ugh. the voicesss. X: And then D/P started and I was DONE. O_o the RAP at the beginning of it just turned me off right away.

Posted by: Folgore Jul 7 2009, 06:10 PM

I stopped after 1st gen ...but i still see it from time to time...

Posted by: Lindley Jul 9 2009, 07:47 AM

When we stopped having a tv lience. Don't watch screened tv anymore, only DVDs.

I'll still watch Pokemon on youtube or myspace when I'm feeling ill and in need of cheering up, though. Gold/Silver and the first half of Advance Generation turned me off - never would have thought May would become my favourite trainer - but I still love it now as much as I did the classic episodes. I really like that Ash is prepared to take a backseat to Dawn now he's grown as a trainer. And the episode with Jesse and Cassidy having a pokemon mecha battle and Pachirisu stuck in a hippowdon was cuter and funnier than anything even from the first season.

ETA: I know it's blasphemy, but... I kind of prefer the new cast. shuckle.gif

Posted by: Tabatha Jul 9 2009, 11:15 AM

I still watch Pokemon....well not really on a regular basis or on TV....I started the entire show over again on the internet, I'm currently on season 5 =)

Posted by: supergoten Jul 9 2009, 08:27 PM

I stopped watching when Advanced started, but I started rewatching the whole series on the internet a couple months ago.

I'm not going to go stop now until I finish, I'm in the beginning of the Advanced Battle season now.

Posted by: VickyDragon Jul 15 2009, 08:28 AM

i pretty much stopped half way through the hoenn region. seriously the whole contest thing got on my nerves and the new series is pretty bad i think

Posted by: TamamaFox Jul 24 2009, 04:27 PM

The only season I really watched through was The first season then I flipped on and off but once Dawn came in I was went "Ok that's it" and never watched it again

Posted by: FlameWar Jul 24 2009, 09:42 PM

I stopped around the middle where Ash goes to Hoenn.

Posted by: Mogtaki Jul 25 2009, 10:15 AM

When the voice actors changed.

WHY JESSE AND JAMES?! WHYYYY.....*crash*

Posted by: Firepaw Jul 25 2009, 01:32 PM

I stopped at Hoenn

Posted by: opal pikachu13 Jul 25 2009, 08:00 PM

I stopped during Johto, and started watching it again during Hoenn. I am currently watching the D/P series.

Posted by: supergoten Jul 25 2009, 08:45 PM

I finally got to the Battle Frontier season and I HATEEEE the new voices, but I'll keep watching.

Posted by: Myou Jul 26 2009, 12:51 AM

I kind of fell out of the series partway through sinnoh (i believe somewhere around the hippowdon episode)... and not because i hated what was going on, but because my only means of watching it here is on the internet, and some episodes are difficult to find with the copyright battles going on (i've seen it on a few sites i go to, but i haven't been motivated to watch them... maybe when classes are done for the semester...)

Posted by: duncan Jul 26 2009, 01:24 AM

I haven't stopped watching pokemon! xD It's awesome!

Posted by: Aesthetic Jul 26 2009, 03:34 AM

When Misty left and May came along...
That's when the anime started going downhill...

At least Ash finally went through puberty and got a deeper voice xD
(But I hate the new voices.)

I have to admit I sometimes watch D/P with my brother. But only because that's how we bond. And I swear I do NOT enjoy it. (The show, not the brother-sister bonding) xP

Posted by: MR Bubbles Jul 26 2009, 03:43 AM

I still watch it but i HATE the new voices

Posted by: Darvy Jul 26 2009, 01:46 PM

When Misty left.
Now and then I stumble upon the newer series to laugh at Ash's voice.

Posted by: Neko Wolf San Jul 26 2009, 06:28 PM

I use to watch the series on Jetix out of boredom, but now we've got broadband I can't watch the channel anymore. rolleyes.gif I still watch some episodes on Youtube, though, but only the one's that actually catch my interest, especially the movies, cause the movies are 10 times better than the series. smugnod.gif

But overall, I hate Ash's new voice! It's annoying, and his old one had a lot more emotion in it! pinch.gif

Posted by: bookist Jul 30 2009, 10:45 AM

I stopped watching it around Hoen because I felt it was not as good as the other seasons.

Posted by: HitomiNoRyu Jul 31 2009, 09:05 AM

I stopped watching after the Johto saga but I watch once in a while just for Paul.

He reminds me too much how I treat Pokemon in the game...

Posted by: Mister Jul 31 2009, 11:46 AM

Never gonna stop watching it. Fan for life.

Posted by: Unkeko Aug 2 2009, 10:23 AM

After Kanto haha. Well yes I did watch Johto too, but I always missed episodes because my memory's like a piece of swiss cheese. After a while I didn't even try, because it started to taste like wood - Ash & co come to the forest, they spend sme time in the forest, they come out of the forest, they meet some nice/unnice fellow who usually is the gymleader, Ash challenges him/her, usually loses at first and spends next episode angsting about it, comes up with some brilliant tactic, wins the leader, and they go back to the woods. And let's not forget about ever-failing Team Rocket.

Or maybe I just always saw the wrong episodes. no.gif

Posted by: Aura Master Aug 4 2009, 01:20 PM

I don't really remember when I stopped watching.

I guess I stopped watching when they were somewhere in Hoenn, and I completely stopped watching before they reached Sinnoh.

But I didn't stop watch the movies.

Posted by: Takato Aug 4 2009, 01:28 PM

I stopped when I was without the Cartoon Network -_-.gif"
but how I watch now pokémon? O.o
It's difficult to say in the english now ^^"

Posted by: Kittyxthexkitsune Aug 21 2009, 12:41 PM

I think it was around the Hoenn season.Maybe late in the Johto season.

Posted by: Xemone Aug 23 2009, 08:05 PM

Mmmm, I stopped watching like a little while after Misty left. The show was already losing steam at that point and MISTY LEFT!! noes.gif I tried to get used to May and Max and I actually did make it through a little while with the added Pokemon Contest factors but I just couldn't take it anymore.

Now that they've changed all the voice actors as well, it REALLY doesn't hold my interest anymore. Everyone sounds absolutely terrible now. Especially Ash, Brock and Meowth.

Posted by: neorago Aug 23 2009, 09:31 PM

Heh, that's a good question, I really don't know when I stopped but I guess it was around the time that I was 10, 11, or 12. If I thought that the series was any good now, I would probably still be watching it, but I love the old eps the best of all.

Posted by: jeremiahsauce Aug 23 2009, 10:14 PM

I really stopped watching it regularly after johto. I was on and off with it, but now that they changed the dubbing team, i'm done with it.

Posted by: Protoman exe Aug 23 2009, 10:21 PM

I stopped watching it when i missed a season D/P battle dimensions

Posted by: Stantler Aug 24 2009, 08:01 AM

For those of you who complained about Ashs voice changing, of course his voice would change! Pokemon started in 1995, and now its 2009, Im pretty sure Ashs voice would change within those 14 years. (Though his appearance seems to never change that much...)

Posted by: Darkrow Aug 24 2009, 10:56 AM

I stopped watching it after Johto. I still watch the movies though.

Posted by: Messa Aug 24 2009, 05:01 PM

It was back then when I got too lazy to wake up early on weekend, haha.

More precisely it was around early or mid Johto. I lost track because all the slice and hack of the episodes. They would suddenly skip several TENS of episodes with no notice at all. I think our dub skipped half of the johto gym badges. It was pretty confusing how we suddenly jumped from Falkner to Whitney. Not to mention how whole seasons were absent. Dub voices also changed continously and pretty much all original voices were gone by then. So, due all that and other things, I slowly just lost my interest.

Tho I still tend to check few first episodes of each new (regional) season as japanese raws - just for that tiny piece of curiosity I still got.

Posted by: SleepySami Aug 31 2009, 03:55 PM

I stoped watching after Misty left...I got bord when she left...

Posted by: MelodyTakiashi Aug 31 2009, 04:09 PM

About mid-Johto is when my love for Pokemon got converted into love for Yugioh. I still watched Pokemon, but not as much. Then, Misty left. Then, Yugioh started getting boring. Then, I stopped watching both altogether.
Years passed... and here I am now, and now I watch both. More Pokemon than Yugioh atm though.

Posted by: Zalfor Sep 1 2009, 08:40 AM

Stopped jjjuuusssttt before the "Advanced Generation" series. As time went on the storyline seemed to dwindle after the climaxes in the show so I just moved onto other anime that gave my brain a challenge again. It was fun at times when it lasted, but when catching Pokemon comes second and boring sidequests or random interactions instead of battles come into the light more, well, it does get boring.

Posted by: LexDoom Sep 1 2009, 04:39 PM

i never stop but i started watching when misty left because she was never hot and also she almost did nothing but be a gym leader but i still watch the movie when she was in it but still she has bad water pokemon that can be easily beat by pikachu and i did stop after i lost cartoon net work but i found where i can see what i miss but then i started liking bakugan then so i stop getting the cards and now

but i like the d/p because some of the boys are hot and some of my guy friends like mars and dawn and other people because there hot but to me ash paul ( alittle ) and kenny ( ranger ) and pikachu ( dont judge me i love pokemon )

Posted by: Lunazero Sep 5 2009, 08:58 AM

I watched some Kanto episodes...then most Johto episodes..Hoenn I watched the whole series, and right after the last battle with Brandon I left.

Posted by: Pizzakun Sep 5 2009, 08:31 PM

Meh, I just watch bits and pieces of the anime from time to time.

Posted by: SilvakuStreak Sep 5 2009, 09:22 PM

I stoped watching because the channel I watched it on went out of service. I was about half-way through the advenced generation when that happened.

Posted by: Hinata Hyuuga Sep 5 2009, 09:25 PM

I never stopped but when Arbok and Weezing left I was very tempted. But I keep watching for Paul and those small Ikarishipping moments. But I miss the old Team Rocket pokemon. I wish they stopped releasing the good pokemon!

Posted by: Snap Sep 6 2009, 10:00 PM

When the Orange Islands ended, that was when I realized that the anime wasn't going to change. It didn't matter whether they pulled the "ooh, one of his traveling buddies is leaving! Who will be the next?" again, because they'd already done that before. I knew it was going to be a very long time before our hero became a master, and I wasn't about to put up with 300 more episodes of characters of the day and Team Rocket being blasted off again.

Like I said up there, I stopped after the second season, so I've seen very little past that (except for what I've occasionally caught on TV from time to time), but what I HAVE heard about Gary in D/P is... very unsettling, especially since he's my favorite rival in the series. What happened to the badass, snarky brat that was always on your case? I miss the days when they actually had attitude.

But I hated it so much when Misty left so I got out of it a lot from there..

Posted by: MEWZ Sep 19 2009, 09:02 AM

I stopped watching the show towards the end of the Johto series, I never saw the final episode. I just got bored of it. I've seen a few Sinnoh episodes and I personally can't stand them, they actor's roles seem way too childish for me. I still watch the movies but I think they are getting poorer in quality as the move along.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEE THE ENDING TO THE FIRST SEASON!

gaah, I'm such a wimp. I got to the part where Ash lost the first pokemon tournament (Yeah, like, first season). I saw a few later episodes in the johto series and even later, but MAN I was disappointed.

Posted by: Sadixe Oct 4 2009, 02:06 PM

I watched a little back when it was only the first 151
but then Ash finally evolved his Pidgeotto into Pidgeot(my favourite pokemon!).
And then he........ LET IT GO IN THE SAME EPISODE!!!!

I'll never stop watching Pokemon, not until the day I die..... yourmove.gif
When you like something a lot, you keep it in your head, for all eternity, until it dies, or you die. The show lost many good qualities, but I guess getting newer Pokemon and newer Pokemon shows couldn't hurt, unless they get rid of Jesse and James.

Posted by: Party For One Oct 10 2009, 03:59 PM

I think I stopped watching after the Johto season...
I can't stand the newer seasons. :[

When 1st gen stopped but i still own like 7-15 episodes of 1 st gen on vhs watched them not to long ago lol they were funny adventerous and about training pokemon and there love for pokemon and teaching others how dumb they are XD

Posted by: Blackjack Gabbiani Oct 11 2009, 03:16 AM

For me, it wasn't lack of interest, but that they changed the time to be uncomfortably early. Now I'll just get the box sets. It'll be worth it to buy the needed sleep. I'll get up if there's something I *really* want to see, though.

Posted by: OrangeCookie Oct 19 2009, 02:39 PM

*sigh* I tried to watch every episode of the original series, I loved watching Pokemon. I stopped watching during the first season of D/P I think the show has become worse and worse over the years.

Posted by: Alexis Duit Oct 26 2009, 08:11 PM

I stopped because where I live it's only on cable, and I don't have cable. crying.gif

Posted by: MondoTR Oct 26 2009, 08:16 PM

End of Johto. Not cause Misty left, though I wasn't too please about that. I just didn't have as much time as before. I still try to watch eps when they're on but it barely happens. I've seen less than 50 eps of Hoenn, Sinnoh, the Chronicles, and Battle Frontier combined.

I had a break from watching pokemon after jolto, but I never stopped. Lol. I am doing a complte rewatch with all the dvds.

I took a break from the anime when the series became Johto: The Endless Fillers, right after Ash fought Chuck and went to that side island is when I was like "Screw this show." I came back for the League fight and Advanced Generation. I stuck around for Diamond and Pearl.

I stopped watching when Sinnoh started, about after the first gym, first of all, I liked May, Dawn just basically is a failed clone of May, and Dawn barely has any personality, she's unoriginal, May was an original character, and Dawn Pachirisu, basically a direct clone of Mays Skitty in personality, just a diffrent type, also, the plotlines are unoriginal anymore, it's the same recycled plot every single episode.

There is no plot anymore like the previous seasons, just helping people who do not really need help if any, collecting badges, winning basically every battle, and Team Rocket still fails to catch anything, can't they just stop following Ash, Giovanni is more intrested in the legendaries and super powerful Pokemon, not a worthless electric rat, so they should just get out of the twerps hair for once and steal someone ELSES pokemon without having to go around where Ash is

Next, is Brock and his love for all the girls, it was funny in the past, but now it's just...... old

Also, in earlier seasons, the characters had morals and personality, now the show has no morals but to become the best (vanity), the games and manga have morals and characters with personality, the anime lacks that

The anime is also very childish, the games are more mature than what the anime does, heck, even most cartoons today are more mature than that, EVEN SPONGEBOB

The movies have actual, original plots, and are darker and more mature than the main anime, because Ash actually DOES something important for once, like save peoples and Pokemons lives

i stopped on ep 51 of D/P grin.gif

Posted by: Poppun Nov 7 2009, 03:18 PM

At some point before the Hoen series started (I never saw even the episode where Misty left) but I still watched the movies for a while then I stopped and now I've started watching it again (by the way, if you can I recommend watching the original Japanese version of each episode). I'm not really sure why so many people don't like the newer series, true the older one was really great and the dub was probably better than it is now and yes there are alot of things that are similar to things from older seasons, but then again, look how many episodes they've made so far, is it really surprising that there'd be some repeatition? As for the issue of Dawn and May being girly compared to Misty, don't forget that she was there for several seasons so what they are probably doing balencing it out so for the first several seasons they had the tomboyish Misty then they had the more feminine May and Dawn (who actually don't really seem all that girly, just because their main focus isn't doing actual fights and at least one of them only wears skirts dosen't mean that it's necisarily a bad thing) now they are planning to add a 2nd heroine to the series and she will probably be more like Misty, then we'll have a male and female who focus on battling Pokemon and a male and female who focus on other things.

As soon as Ash's voice actor changed which I think was sometime in the third generation. I was already getting pissed that:
1. Charizard had lost to this wierd, but cool looking new Fire type (Blaziken)
2. He didn't catch that Larvitar
3. The concept of another whole generation after Johto at the time seemed too retarded and dragging out the series. I was ok with Johto existing because that was clearly the case from the second episode (Ho-oh's appearance) but suddenly introducing another whole region that no one had ever heard of, (what did no one have phones until Ash arrived?) yet has clearly existed for thousands of years because of all the ruins and elders and history that Ash and co meet.
4. He ditched all of his cool new Pokemon for repeats of ones he already had. Heracross and Pidgeot + 1st and 2nd gen starters rocked.

/End speech

Johto.

Those episodes were so bland and mostly filler.

I only watch the anime now when big battles take place.

Posted by: Keri Nov 11 2009, 12:31 PM

I stopped watching the series after Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, but I've kept watching movies... that's all I've been able to handle. I miss the original VAs

Posted by: Harmy Nov 11 2009, 01:04 PM

I stopped watching cause i don't have cable Dx

Posted by: skibbereenfarms Nov 11 2009, 01:12 PM

I never stopped.

I just put the TV on mute and make up my own dialogue. Let me say, it's way better.

Posted by: BloodyMantis Nov 12 2009, 12:06 AM

Lets see... I watched every episode from the beginning up until 3rd gen where I just caught a few episode once in a while when i was bored and stopped after it got to the 4th gen. I just got tired of the team rocket repetitiveness in every episode.... you would think after 4 generations other people would be tired of the same thing also. I still watch the movies and I love the games... its just the anime I can't stand.

Posted by: kidacakes Nov 18 2009, 03:58 PM

I was never a fan of the anime really. I stopped watching after episode one and only have seen a couple random ones since then.

Posted by: eevee64 Nov 18 2009, 11:50 PM

I think i stopped watching it after the first season with may and max in it. The first season with ash, misty and brock in it was the best =)

Posted by: Netbug009 Nov 20 2009, 08:37 AM

I stopped watching? Then what is this on my TV with the red and white orbs people throw to send monsters out and battle? o.O;

xD In all seriousness, I feel out for a while in the middle of Jhoto. I think hearing some stuff about D/P got me back into it.

Posted by: XhitachiinfanX Jan 5 2010, 10:21 AM

I never stopped watching the series. I technically stopped when Hoenn started (because I hate May, reasons can't be explained) but then I got back in it when Advanced Battle came on (yes I watched the episoded I didn't see before) and continued watching it. But at Battle Frontier I wanted to stop because of the new voices, but I never did. It's hard for me to let go of something I grew up with, you know? I'm gonna cry when the series ends...

Posted by: Momoko Jan 9 2010, 09:14 PM

Well i stop it when i was 16... not because i doesn't like it anymore but well first i haven't tiome for it and later our beloved damn television station RTL2 always brings old ones and the dub was horrible at the new ones... >> well all animes on RTL2 are crap dub and cuting ^--^

It is actually on cartoon network i forget what time though. I have a DVR so it records whenever it's on....but a new episode is on every saturday morning, and older episodes are on in the late afternoon. Although 4kids doesn't do the voices anymore. it's not actually that bad, you know you're a true pokemon fan if you continue to watch it ^.^ (even though you hate it...try the Japanese version, their openings are better XD)

    It just wasn't the same..
It comes on too early for me to get up and watch it dry.gif *Sleeps in as late as possible*

Officialy, when they changed the Voice Actors; but with the way my high school and all my after school activites were going, I actualy stopped watching around the middle of Hoenn.

And then I saw Sawn first time I wanted to leave it

i stopped watching somewere in the middle of the season with may and max in it and then after a long time of not watching i started watching it again when dawn first came (cuz i was so exctied abotu the new pokemon new region thing) but then after a while i stopped watching it =P

Posted by: Fiddle411 Feb 15 2010, 04:41 AM

I first stopped liking pokemon and watching the anime just before Jhoto. I began to watch it again when they introduced Hoenn (Pokemon Advance). Then I stopped watching the anime when we went to DP.

Posted by: Kingstar Feb 15 2010, 04:47 AM

Stopped watchin it wen i was 7 coz it showed early in the mornin.
But then i started watching DP

Posted by: SoraAK Feb 18 2010, 11:54 PM

I think I stopped regularly watching during Johto, before Chikorita evolved, because I remember being surprised to see Bayleef when I saw one of the Pikachu shorts while watching one of the movies on video/DVD at a friend's. It wasn't really a conscious decision to stop watching or anything, just not being able to find it on TV/being busy with other things/etc..

I really never started watching it regularly again (seen a few AG but no DP), but I kept watching the movies even when I hadn't watched the anime in ages. Not sure why, I've just always liked the movies.

Posted by: Thale Feb 19 2010, 12:24 AM

I quit watching Pokemon when I was 10, around the start of fifth grade. I think we were in the Hoenn saga.

I guess I just got bored of it, especially Ash. Ugh.

I have never wanted to start watching again, mostly because I can't stand the DP saga. Dawn and the other new characters to me are facepalm.gif

Posted by: Blazaking Feb 27 2010, 01:39 AM

I stopped watching around DP. It just didn't seem as interesting anymore. I still watch it every now and then for the eventful episodes.

Posted by: Vox Feb 27 2010, 06:37 AM

I stopped watching when it got to Johto. I'd enjoyed the Orange Islands immensely, because we had a continuing theme running through it - the GS Ball, whereas before, it was just "get teh badgez and become pokemon mastah!" which got old kind of quickly - especially when they just skipped over everything in the games. I mean, where was the exciting trip round Celadon Game Corner, where Ash and the gang could have faced Giovanni for the first time - but no. They just...blipped over it.

So yeah, I figured Johto would be the same, and instead of having the awesome encounter with Ho-oh or Lugia at Tin Tower or Whirl Islands - we get some magical Togepi land, and the Hidden Dragon Realm or whatever it was, when they were with Clair.

It sucked.

And it's got worse. I mean, the Character-of-the-day has a Pokemon-of-the-day, and then team Rocket tries to steal it, before blasting off again.

It just sucks.

When you think of Digimon, how you could follow it and really relate to the characters that came in and out (I remember when Leomon died ;-; ) that was a decent anime for a kid. But Pokemon was just...rubbish.

So no, I don't watch it anymore, stopped after Ash defeated Drake. That was one awesome battle though. <3

Posted by: Lucario 98 Feb 27 2010, 06:59 PM

Hoenn, I saw a few episodes of it and it just killed it for me, and May was just freaking annoying and ugly. I especially hated when Ash got her bike destroyed, repeating a concept like that was just so irritating to me.

Although I saw some of Sinnoh as well on youtube and despite that it has its repeat concepts as well such as Ash obtaining turtwig the exact same way as bulbasaur it's actually a percent better. I might be interested to see more. I would have if Youtube hadn't appeared to have run out that day.

Posted by: LtNite Feb 28 2010, 05:48 PM

After the Orange Islands I believe and now only reason I don't is because I can't really find it on to watch anymore, still watch all the movies though!

Posted by: Desspy Feb 28 2010, 06:21 PM

I stopped watching after a few episodes of DP.

Posted by: RaveLegend Mar 1 2010, 10:20 PM

I stopped seriously watching right about when Misty left. She was the only girl I ever really liked. :c I still watch all the movies, though. :D

Posted by: Xal Mar 2 2010, 04:31 PM

Shortly after they went to Johto. I've started watching some of the new episodes though, and the way they've destroyed Brock is just criminal irritated.gif

After season one... and after I was near done watching all the Gligar/Gliscor episodes. =V

... *loads another one*

Posted by: serena9003 Mar 7 2010, 01:57 AM

I stopped watching about the time that may showed up. Then there were many times that there was nothing else on TV so I watched a few episodes. Then Dawn showed up and I stopped watching again. I think that the only way I will start watching again is if something exciting happens. Like for example, learning more about Ash's father since it is never talked about.

I never actually watched Hoenn, but I plan to. Other seasons were just alright, till Sinnoh.

Posted by: Blueflame Apr 26 2010, 03:59 PM

I stopped around the introduction of second generation because my parents banned me from it. >.>

I watched a few of the newer episodes years later until my parents decided to block Cartoon Network because of the adult shows at night. Now I'm in college and can't be bothered to ever watch TV anyway.

Posted by: BlacKOuT Apr 26 2010, 07:24 PM

I kinda stopped at around when they were in hoenn because it became to repetitive and just getting the badges not looking for new Pokemon or catching them or even evolving them which really pissed me off. I kinda watch the first 10-20 episodes of D/P but it was the same and i stopped watching it again but know i read the manga and watch the movies

I stopped around episode 20 or so of Sinnoh. Partly because I had outgrown it, partly because I discovered the games were way better.

Oh, and Ash's new voice. ...everyone's voice, as a matter of fact. It's terrible. :/

I stopped watching it around mid-Hoenn.

Mainly 'cause I couldn't get CN and the only channel that DID have it was local and they cut it off once they were bought out. xD
But not too long ago I saw a Sinnoh episode and I wanted to cry. :c

After the 1st series/season whatever.. Pokemon has just become the same now... team rocket pops up about halfway through, tries to steal pokemon.. fail.. rinse and repeat every episode -_-.gif And the fact it takes like 10 episodes to get from one city to the next is stupid

Posted by: Purnip Sep 24 2010, 03:45 PM

Stopped watching mid-first season. I've seen some episodes from the later seasons, but I actually just stopped following the show a long time ago. I got mad at Ash because he doesn't seem to know anything about anything and I called bs the moment Pikachu's Thundershock was able to work on Onix. I don't care if the sprinklers are on; electrical moves shouldn't work on a ground-type. >>

Another thing that annoyed me was how predictable every episode was, and the fact that even though by now Pikachu should be at level 100, he gets beaten all the time.

Posted by: Fuzzbucket Sep 24 2010, 03:52 PM

I loved the first leg of the Johto saga because the intro theme was brilliant, but then they changed it to that weird remix of the original theme and I lost interest.

I guess I was a pretty fickle kid.

i do still watch the movies though.

I never really stopped...just, I found the first season best, and most awesome. And I still have the set ♥

I recently watch the beginning of the 5th season, let's just say Iris is annyoing. And nurse Joy and officer Jenny changed. A lot. I like Nurse Joys new look, officer Jenny..eh, not so much. I just watch it to see the new pokemon.

Posted by: Hack Dec 6 2010, 12:02 PM

I stopped watching at the end of Johto, near the time the voice cast changed, that really killed it for me :c

Posted by: Killer Zylos Wolf Dec 7 2010, 03:07 PM

Never stopped really. I've always followed it to some degree. Although I watched Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn on TV so it depended on if they would show it or not, at some point or another I couldn't watch it on TV anymore. I then started watching it online for Sinnoh and now Unova.

Posted by: MidnightBlackbird Dec 7 2010, 03:12 PM

After season 5, a.k.a. when Misty left.

Posted by: Slyfur Dec 7 2010, 10:32 PM

IMO, Misty leaving was the best thing they could do for the series. Around season 4, she was essentially just a cheerleader, and a man in a woman's body. She seriously annoyed me after the frist thirty episodes anyway. I just don't like her...

Iris... I started watching online. OH. MY. SANITY. Iris is worse then Misty... Falling out of trees? Wut? She looks like The Jackson Five and the Mullet had a kid, and gosh is her hair huge... I swear it takes up half the screen. Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy have changed to, and I really don't like that either. (Except for Nurse Joy, she's fine. But Officer Jenny made me scratch my head.)

And Ash's eyes... Oh gosh his eyes. I won't even go into that. The writers are rushing his team, I hope he realeases a few things before the Region's over. (Soon I hope.)

I stopped watching after misty left :< not because i wasn't interested anymore. I still ATTEMPT to watch the episodes, but i just dont have time anymore. games and art devour my free time, not allowing me to sit down and watch series of anything.

Posted by: Banette Dec 17 2010, 11:34 AM

I stopped watching the DP episodes when I caught on to the pattern... and also, just because I despised Dawn (for her skirt, and the stupidity she frequently showed us). I started watching again when Best Wishes came out and haven't missed an episode yet. It's actually really good, but I'll never watch the English version.

Posted by: Anarchy Stocking Dec 19 2010, 06:13 PM

I keep up with Pokemon Best Wishes.

It is the best Pokemon season out there so far, with Roketto-dan finally buckling down and doing some things. Episode Twelve was also very well done. I hope it continues to be like this as time progresses. For those who are fans of the anime but stopped watching after the adventures in Shinnou, I think you should consider picking up this season--it's really been a good experience so far.

When Dawn beat May. That's just stupid.

Posted by: okpo May 4 2011, 02:48 PM

I havn`t stopped

Posted by: GLaD0S May 15 2011, 12:37 PM

the first season. >_>

i've watched a bunch of episodes after here and there, but not much.

i actually watched like 20 or more of the D/P episodes and IT MADE ME RAGE SO HARD!
i don't know, i guess there's so much about the anime that just seems so stupid to me now that i'm older =|

I've stop watched in Hoenn seasons, but came back in Sinnoh.

Posted by: Mars Adept Enten May 17 2011, 02:55 PM

Stopped watching when Pokémon Advanced came along. The VA changes, Ash's horribly ugly Hoenn outfit, and lack of interest in the Hoenn 'mons and games were the reasons. I'm a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GrumpyOldMan (everything else)/http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FanDumb (animé) in the fandom. Everything before Hoenn was great (even if I never got a chance to see the Orange Islands season); afterward, it sucked.

Posted by: amberfunk May 17 2011, 03:11 PM

I haven't stopped watching it. I just started watching all through from the first season again.

Posted by: xxmandapandaxx May 21 2011, 07:16 AM

I stopped when they moved it to cable...

Posted by: Khall May 25 2011, 10:45 PM

halfway through the hoenn season, i couldn't stand the way the show went, and i HATED dawn so no d/p/pt season for me either.
however i LOVE the new best wishes series and i set my alarm to get up and watch it every saturday. i hate cilan though, because of how he has to use these stupid descriptions related to food for everything. and i hate how iris thinks she's older than she really is.
besides all that, i love it. b/w got me watching pokemon again.

walloftext.gif 停止在第三季。。。因為學習很忙。。。不過以後我會繼續看的。
Stop in the third quarter. . . Because the study was busy. . . But I will continue to look after.

Ever since it stopped showing on free to air channels.
I know, I'm not fancy enough to afford Foxtel, and I can't be bothered or find enough time to watch on the computer.

Posted by: digit198801 May 27 2011, 12:45 AM

I stopped sometime during the Hoenn region.
But only because I was too busy to watch Pokemon.

I plan to rewatch from the beginning sometime soon.

Posted by: Rika Kitty May 31 2011, 01:11 PM

I stopped somewhere in the middle of Hoenn as well~ I think I just felt that I was "too old" for it at that point or something, it just no longer interested me :< Every once in a while I'll go back and watch an episode if it features a Pokemon I really like, but that's about it~

Posted by: draconitas Jun 1 2011, 12:33 PM

Around the middle-end of season 1, when I ran out of the VCDs, and was too lazy to wake up to catch it on free-to-air.

I must admit that while I will never be too old for the games, the anime bugs me sometimes, because Ash is honestly not one of the better trainers around, and given how long he's been at this (though I must get his Potion of Eternal Youth from him) he really should know better. Magically though, he always wins, even if e insists on using Thunderbolts on Ground types and generally ignoring game mechanics. The powering down of Pikachu at the start of every season also bugs me, as it has every season since season 2.

Predictably, every episode goes:

Scene 1:

*Tralalalalala, walking along.*

GANG: omg, a pokemon/person in need of help / oh look, the town we wanted to get to! Let us go help/battle the Gym Leader/take part in a Contest.

Case 1: LET US BATTLE/CONTEST
Scene 2: Battle/Contest. Ash/groupie loses. Cue noes.gif noes.gif noes.gif
Scene 3: Pokemon is stolen by Team Rocket. Hilarity ensues, Ash teams up with Opponent (from before) and Team Rocket's Blasting Off Again (TRBOA)
Scene 4: Battle again (optional). WE ARE BESTIES 4EVA. Ash wins.

Case 2: HELP ME/(POKEMON SOUNDS)
Scene 2: Rescue Pokemon/person from Rocket/Evil Things. Poor Pokemon, now we must return you to your family/ Hey Trainer Let Us Battle
Scene 3: OMG TEAM ROCKET STOLE (YOUR) POKEMON (optionally, and Pikachu!). CHASE SCENE
Scene 4: Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! - Oh No It Does Not Work - New Pokemon From Earlier, Use *Some Attack*! - NOW, Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! - TRBOA
Scene 5: Optionally, Battle, again. Ash wins.

I haven't stopped watching it. I just started watching all through from the first season again.

Same here! (there is someone like me in the other part of the world!) Chapter 22 Season 2

Posted by: Litoris Aug 2 2011, 02:36 AM

I stopped in the middle of season 2, because it got banned in my country, because some kid decided to jump out of the window yelling "Pikachu!!" while watching pokemon, and it made it to the news. This was around 2002, the latest season still airs here but it all looks too weird to me, the new trainers and all.

Posted by: Bomberx57 Aug 9 2011, 09:42 AM

When Cartoon Network decided to never show it ever again. ;.;

Posted by: Felly Aug 9 2011, 12:50 PM

I stopped watching it frequently after I finished middle school. I would watch the episodes in the morning as I was getting ready for school. That was when they were in Hoenn, and I believe they hit Sinnoh while I was still in middle school. I did watch the Labor Day marathon the day before my freshman year of high school, which was definitely Sinnoh, because I was up for it and nothing else was on.

Now I rarely watch it. I've seen it a handful of times while they've been in Unova, but I've technically stopped religiously watching it.

Posted by: AyameHigono Aug 9 2011, 01:14 PM

I stopped watching it probably when they changed the voice actress for Ash. But since my brother is still young I occasionally watch it with him.

Posted by: KyoushiroTheSilver Aug 10 2011, 05:19 PM

I stopped watching it a few years ago, but about a month before the end of school I started watching Diamond and Pearl when I got home. I watched a couple of episodes of Black and White and then stopped again.

Posted by: Aurachi Aug 14 2011, 02:02 PM

I still watch it ! 8D

Posted by: Dark Heart Oct 19 2011, 02:56 AM

I stopped watching when the Hoenn series started then i restarted watching it during the Sinnoh series and i stopped watching recently when Black and White started.

Posted by: Lugia182 Oct 19 2011, 08:57 AM

I stopped before the end of the Indigo League series, and started watching again quite recently. I'm in the middle of watching Black and White, Sinnoh League Victors (I'm close to the end of that) and... I forget. He's still in Johto in the third one I'm watching though haha! It might be Master Quest... not sure.

Posted by: zorua9 Dec 11 2012, 08:59 PM

i watched it from time to time, so i didn't know what was happening.

Posted by: Wolf Link Dec 11 2012, 09:01 PM

I stopped around Platinum. I was pretty sick of their cheesy-ness. Though I never woke up early to watch a new episode... Only for the older ones. x3

Posted by: Like a spiral Dec 11 2012, 09:06 PM

Stopped watching after noticing how boring it started to get for me.

Posted by: SaraPiplup Jan 4 2013, 09:57 PM

The first episode of Unova. When the narrator said "10 year old Ash Ketchum" I was done. I flipped out and ranted for at least an hour about how Ash has gone through 4 regions with 100s of episodes and he has not had at least 1 birthday. Oh, and because they killed off Brock.

Posted by: Kontrazent Apr 9 2013, 07:27 PM

when I realized that its mostly sentimental.... (many years ago... )

I would like a reboot which is more serious, with a good storyline and such watchable things
but that will never happen....

Posted by: Lady Yuki Apr 22 2013, 07:46 PM

For me it ended after Johto - when Ash finally beat Gary, and Misty and Brock left. From that point on that's when it really seems to set in that the anime's never really going to end as long as the franchise keeps getting tons of money...

Posted by: Zigzagoon May 19 2013, 08:03 AM

I'm currently re-watching Kanto region.
I don't think I've really watched anything past when Misty left. I know I've seen a few of the episodes with May, but they were never the same. :C

Posted by: Lizzymon Jul 25 2013, 03:11 AM

I stopped watching after season 8, first episode. They stopping airing at on TV, i didn;t have my own computer, so i couldn't watch it. Ah well, maybe i should catch up somehow.

Posted by: Zer0hundred Jul 25 2013, 11:47 PM

I think i watched every episode of the first season multiple times because the season one re-runs used to air every night late at night on boomerang XD
but i dont remember any of them :/

I think i stopped watching after the season one re-run marathons stopped. I saw a few episodes here and there since then, and have collectively watched quite a few episodes, and i have watched quite a few (but not many) of the movies, like arceus and the jewel of life and that one where dialga and palkia where fighting (forgot it's name XD).

but i havent watched any of the gen 5 and most of the gen 4 episodes. I was thinking about catching up, but im too lazy, and i'm not much of a TV watcher anymore anyway.

Posted by: Mussolini the Party Genie Aug 7 2013, 02:36 PM

i stopped watching around pokemon dp galactic battles, it just got boring. although i should start watching the original pokemon episodes [i started watching around pokemon advanced challenge because thats when i started getting into pokemon]

Posted by: Deyula Oct 19 2013, 11:49 AM

I stopped watching after the 4th season, Master Quest. Just now, I have started rewatching from the beginning (Indigo League) and buying the movies before the original VAs are gone. I am planning to watch the seasons I missed (up until Diamond & Pearl, I...do not like the new voices...) Basically, once I reach Diamond & Pearl, I am done.

Posted by: Angelblah Oct 19 2013, 12:08 PM

Im stopped watching it when it was Sinnoh

It Just Didn't seem right to me...It Was missing something with Ash.

:/

Posted by: Alcor Oct 23 2013, 08:53 AM

I stopped watching around the time Sinnoh was coming around, Ash is still an idiot that feels like he hasn't learned anything going through 3 different regions, that and Dawn simply can't beat Misty, I did like Brock still, though.

I'm more of a genwunner with the anime, the first anime justified Ash's suckiness at Pokémon because he was new, and Misty and Brock were well designed characters that helped Ash along the way, these new episodes do nothing but yell in your face "WE GOT POKEMONS!"

Posted by: Thief Noctis Oct 23 2013, 08:58 AM

I only watched it a lot during the Kanto time. My interest dwindled around Johto for the whole series in general (including the games), but then before Hoenn arrived I was obsessed with it again. I think I stopped properly watching the anime after Hoenn, but still watch the odd episode here and there if it happens to be on.

Posted by: dededo1 May 7 2017, 01:49 PM

Black and White
I just couldn't take Ash's incompetence

Posted by: snapplefacts May 7 2017, 03:31 PM

initially, i stopped during the great 4kids purge. i had nothing against the new voice actors, or anything. it was just too bizarre for me. i came back to watch the first twenty or so episodes of diamond and pearl and enjoyed those, though! after that, i fell out of it again for a while, mostly because of my killer school + depression combo, but there was a point in high school where i tried to watch it all with subs. sadly, subbed pokemon episodes are super hard to find outside of illegal means, so i only got so far.

right now, my girlfriend and i are watching the entire series over again together, skipping between english dub and sub when we have to with a preference for sub. all in all, we've been having an awesome time, even though i think the english dubbed writing seriously suffers kanto battle frontier (again, 4kids purge) and on. team rocket's excessive rhyming in particular is.... super insufferable. and they're generally not as endearing as they used to be, which blows, because they were more or less the best part of each episode before. but that and sometimes repetitive character arcs aside, very fun! i'm glad i'm checking it out again as an adult. i'd recommend everybody give it a second chance, honestly. sun and moon is adorable.
