Ewwwwww Stephen King, I grew up reading Dean Koontz. Been reading him since I was 12. I think King and Koontz are completely different authors, people are stupid for comparing the two, and imo, Dean Koontz is much better

Hold on, isn't Erin Hunter three different women under the pen name "Erin Hunter"? That's what my classmates said. Anyway there was an era where the whole...(what was it that time...?) third, I think, grade was addicted to Warriors. Well it faded away. I was part of it, but now I find it pretty repetitive...you can hear a few girls sharing a quick chat about it once in awhile, though.
As for me, I'm twelve and into Christopher Paolini because of the fact that he was so successful at such a young age. I like to write, see, so he's a bit of an inspiration. Also, despite him being the youngest of the authors I read and enjoy books of, he also had the widest vocabulary. Because I only realized "eyrie" and "flotsam" were real words through Inheritance. *rolls eyes* Thanks a lot, Neopets. "Flaccid." What a wonderful word, don't you think? -------------------- Might return to activity sometime soon. I have to get back to GPX, too...

J.K. Rowling, Cornelia Funke, Rick Riordan, Christopher Paolini, the Erin Hunter's, Jerry Spinelli, Louis Sachar (hey, Wayside's funny -in a really strange/weird/off/random way- , and Holes is awesome ), Gary Paulsen, and Judy Blume are all awesome.

Neil Gaiman, Bill Bryson, Michael Crichton, Douglas Adams, Mo Hayder, Shaun Hutson.. and then some.
There are likely more who more than deserve to be listed here, but I won't, because I've forgotten who they are. -------------------- |

I've always loved TS Eliot's poetry. I'm pretty sure The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock made me retroactively enjoy Hamlet...well, that, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.
As far as writers of modern fiction, I really like Libba Bray, Sara Gruen, Philip Pullman, and Jonathan Stroud. -------------------- |

Gaiman, Bradbury, and Barker are definitely seconded here. A good hunk of my library is reserved for them. I'd also highly recommend Terry Pratchett, P.G. Wodehouse, and R.A. Salvatore. Currently, I'm trying to get though the first three novels of the Chronicles of the Black Company by Glenn Cook. Very interesting series. Again, highly recommended. He's fast becoming a favorite.
And I'm going to throw Cervantes in there as well. Recently re-read Don Quixote for a Western World Lit course and realized just how clever the man was. |

Do I hear STEPHEN KING? No? I come from the same state as Stephen King... X] So naturally I hate him for making me scared of my own home XD But he writes some good stuff, I LOVED Pet Sematary. Anyway, my favorite author of all time is D.J. MacHale. The Pendragon series pretty much helped me grow up, and his new series is really neat. Plus he answers his fan mail >w< Douglas Adams, pretty much for his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, but Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul was really good too. Isaac Asimov is SUCH A GOOD WRITER AUGH. I love his sci-fi stuff. Holly Black is really great too, her modern faery tale series is awesome (Tithe, Ironside, Valiant) And I love JK Rowling, I hope she writes something more than the Harry Potter books. -------------------- |

I'm a big fantasy fan when it comes to books. I have most of David & Leigh Eddings books. Terry Brooks, R.A. Salvatore, Margret Weis, Tracy Hickman, Richard A. Knaak. Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker books are great too.

Richard A Knaak is definitely one of my favorites. He mostly writes fantasy novels for DragonLance as well as stories based on Blizzard games. I like his style though, and he definitely knows how to capture awesome battles in writing.
