What with the implementation of getting a shard every time you hatch a shiny, has this affected what shinies you hunt for? Have you targeted certain types to pursue shinies of since this happened?
What factors do you consider when deciding what shinies to hunt? Figured this could make for good discussion. -------------------- |

Nope, they didn't impact my shiny hunt choices at all. I pretty much hunt whatever now, especially since I already hunted my favorite things and the ones with the shiny colors I like the most.
If I get a plate out of it, then great. -------------------- Check my GPXPlus journal to see what I contributed to the site! Interested in a commission? PM me. |

Eh not really.
Half my huntss are legendary/novelty but the ones I'm hunting are mostly for megas at the moment. I'll probably start towards getting shards for plates I don't have yet when I can, though Maybe I'll go finish my Flame Plate or Zap Plate next.. -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself. It hasn't really changed how I hunt, I just grab whatever i'm hunting.
And if I get a shard, awesome, if not, there's a lot of time and pokemon. xD -------------------- |

It just so happens my hunts match up with my shards fairly well, like the mountain of Pichu for Zap, or my Vullaby and Sableye for Dread.

Nope, I started almost all of my current hunts long before Shards were a thing. Sigh.

Shortly after I returned to GPX, I completed my old Mudkip SWSH as a sort of welcome-home present to myself, and then I was like, "Welp. Water Arceus, here I come!" Then I decided to do the Flabebe SWSH, completed it, and accidentally hatched a shiny Togepi.
Now? I think I'm just trying to go for whatever species has the most eggs available in the shelter. No Cleffa eggs, look for Corsola. No Corsola, go for Luvdisc. Hoping for a Fairy Arceus soon, though! -------------------- |

I got a few Ghost Shards without even trying and decided to hunt the rest of them, then I tried to get Water Arceus (my favorite). Not sure if I'll focus on finishing plates or hunting future mega shinies now.

I try to merge them - I'm shiny hunting everything but make my basic choices on whatever's up for my next plate.

I focused on specifics types in the beginning, because I wanted Splash Arceus and Dark Arceus. And then the pixie plate happened because of the SWSH. Next, I'll probably focus on Zap plate, since I already have two shards. From there, I'm not sure.

Since my next objective is shiny hunt everything (except Unowns), nop. But I usually hunt a certain type when I get the first shard of that same type.

I started most of my hunts before shards were a thing. With this SWSH though I've pulled in 3 pixie shards, so I'm probably going to go with a couple different fairy types for my next shiny hunts.

I almost quit my Frufro hunt because of shards.

Actually, I like to hunt for Shinies that have a high number of alternate forms that I can change them into - like Furfrou, Scatterbug and Castform initially, but now I'm doing those with three evolutions.
But yeah, I don't hunt shinies if I don't need the shard I can get for them. |

My hunts are well influenced by plates and shards. While currently being at 0 plates and 2 shards this is probably the only common response. Additionally, SWSH fuels a bit of shard hunting. But again, I have also kept a provision for other hunts as well. Like, I have Zap and Spooky Shard but am still hunting for a frillish.

Yes and no.
I'm hunting for Paras mostly because I only need one more shard for an Insect Plate, and if I hatch a random shiny (and get a plate out of it) I focus on grabbing Normal-type Pokemon eggs the rest of the day, but otherwise I focus on my current hunts, which include going after Pokemon in Pokedex order. -------------------- [align=center]add me for daily clicks [735/1000]

I try to do what makes sense. Though I think I only have two hunts that are purely for a shard (Magnemite and Snorunt). I like to keep a couple for a plate I already have in case I already collected a shard that day (Sableye, Psyduck, Beldum, which are all for friends), then the rest are friends and shards (Vulpix, Zubat, Murkrow).
If Vulpix hatches shiny next then I'll hunt another fire type in its place. Ditto for Zubat/Murkrow/Magnemite/Snorunt and their respective types. Sableye/Psyduck/Beldum would be replaced by a friend hunt (which I'm going for another Psyduck and 3 Poliwags). -------------------- |

I like to have one Normal shiny hunt at a time, so that I can hunt that if I hatch a Shard.

Not really but my hunts are lining up well since most of them are water types
