Can You Feel The Bass Pumpin'?

Music, nothing is as diverse as music.

With an infinity of genres and sub-genres in almost every language imaginable, there's something for everyone.

In fact, it is so diverse that, sometimes, fans of different genres get violent between each other.

That is what happens when something gets too diverse.

However, what happens when all those genres have to work together towards a common goal?

With those darned Beat Blasters, only time will tell.

They won't last, they are too different to stay together.

And then... the world will be mine and mine alone!

We're in 2839. Now, I know what you might think. Teleporters, flying cars and all that shit. Well, you'd better slap yourself a few times, 'cause that's definitly not true. In fact, today isn't much different from 830 years ago. Well, maybe a little. Everything looks leaner and neater and shinier, but that's about it. Oh yeah! We have robots too, forgot about them. Pretty boring, huh? That's what you think.

While the normal world developped itself slowly, slowly, slowly; the world of music did the exact opposite: it developped extremely quickly. So quickly, in fact, that it essentially went, for some reason, backwards. Pretty weird, don't you think? Music from 830 years ago resurfaced and became popular again. Metal, Techno, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Alternative Rock, Emo, Gothic Rock, Punk, Rap, Grunge and even Disco and Classical all reemerged from the musical underground, among others. What we listened to before that event, you ask? Sincerely, I don't know how that shit was called but, lemme tell ya, it was booooooring compared to what we have now. Nothing like the music you guys know. I don't even know how to explain that crap.

Anyways, that's beside the point. Bands like Metallica, Slayer, Nickelback, The Killers, Coldplay, Disturbed, among many, many, many, many others, reappeared and regained their original, gigantic fanbases even though the band members were long dead. Same with lone artists and DJs. It was pretty impressive to see all those people, who originally didn't listen to music, separate themselves into all the different henres and sub-genres of the past.

Now, you may wonder what's so important about this, right? Well, the thing is that, around 2832, these "new old genres" were all the people were talking about, except, of course, politics and all the other important stuff. However, there was one guy, a scientist to be exact, who grew tired of hearing about music day after day. He was very intelligent, a genius even. There was something special about him though, he was blind. That's right, a blind scientist. However, all his other senses had been dramatically increased, meaning that he didn't even need to see to be a successful scientist. How that happened? He created a machine to that effect. Crazy, no? Additionally, this granted him almost superhuman reflexes, strength, speed and endurance, basically making him a blind genius battle machine.

Now, his name was only known as Balthazar. Despite being a genius, he just had to have the traditional "madman" scientist mindset. Hey, at least he had a good excuse! The machine he had created to make his senses stronger had destabilised his brain, granting him perfect insanity. So, being tired of music and, for some reason, deciding that he wanted to rule the world, he started creating a machine to make everyone's brain "shut down" and make the world enter a perpetual trance-like state in which they'd only listen to him. In 2836, he finished it and, when he used it, a gigantic flash of light erupted from the machine but, apparently, nothing had happened, greatly infuriating him. However, a small group of people, each a fan of a different genre of music, coincidentially, could hear him yell in frustration, saying that the world would be his and that he would make another machine that would deafen the whole planet, enabling him to use another machine to make them listen to him and him only, effectively making him rule the world.

That, however, only happened at night so they all didn't hear him, instead dreaming of him. One girl wasn't sleeping at 5:03 AM, Molly Ferguson, also known as DJ Clarissa. She was partying at the discothèque that she always was, being the usual disc jockey of the evening. She heard everything he said and this worried her, especially since hearing voices in your head wasn't very common, even in 2836. She dreamed about it for a few weeks, even seeing Balthazar on multiple occasions.

Finally deciding that this wasn't a joke, she searched for information about Balthazar, having heard him say his name while he was enraged. She learned that he was an once-famous scientist that had mysteriously dissapeared. The day after that, she learned that she had gotten some powers thanks to the flash and, using her logic, thought that others must've seen the flash and heard Balthazar before gaining powers of their own. She set out to find those "chosen ones", as she liked to call them.

She found the first one after two years of alternating between being a DJ and going to school along with searching for them. Her name was Lee Yari, who revealed that she had dreamed about Balthazar multiple times since the flash. Molly told her everything she had found and asked the guitarist, because, yes, Lee was a guitarist, if she could join her to save the world. It took a good deal of convincing though, since Lee saw this as a foolish goal that was too weird and "fucking wacked in the head". After being convinced by the DJ, the two formed a small group called the Beat Blasters, courtesy of Molly, and continued recruiting more "chosen ones".

Sadly, these news managed to reach the blind scientist who, at first, dismissed the Beat Blasters as a true threat. However, as the group got bigger and bigger, he started keeping his guard up and being skeptic of people he heard.

As of 2839, Balthazar has developped many, many different kind of machines to stop the Beat Blasters, which he has grown very paranoid of. Meanwhile, the Beat Blasters have grown a lot, even having a base of some sort.

The stage is set, a group of musicians wanting to save the world facing a crazy ass mo-fo who wants to rule the world by controlling everyone after deafening it. Will the blind scientist succeed or will the Beat Blasters manage to put aside their differences and save the world? Only time shall tell us the outcome of this battle...

As you may've guessed, the story will develop more and more as the RP advances. This time, slots won't be limited until I find that all the main genres have been used. Since the characters also like some sub-genres of their primary style, there won't be any characters that will be accepted with, for example, Extreme Metal or Noise Rock as their main genre. However, some sub-genres are fairly popular, like Alternative Rock, so these are accepted. Since the Beat Blasters are ever-growing, the RP may start with registration still active.

Power: Can release powerful shockwaves by touching surfaces with any part of her body. (Techno is often characterised with its loud, booming bass that, if played loud enough, can make the ground shake by its velocity. That's what Molly can do.)

Appearance: DJ Clarissa isn't a really tall or imposing girl, being 5"6' and weighing around 123 pounds. Her hair is blonde and reaches her mid-back. Her bangs almost go over her eyes, sometimes even going over them and forcing her to remove them from there. Her eyes are a bright green and they seem to sparkle most of the time. She always wears big headphones over her ears, even if she isn't listening to anything. There's also a microphone on it, so she can talk to a large population if she plugs them somewhere.

She has a white necklace around her neck that she always wears for some reason. She wears a simple black t-shirt with a heart with angel wings on it, right where her breasts are. The shirt is a little tight, as shown by the stretch marks over her breasts and on her sides. She doesn't care though. She keeps her nails long too.

For lower wear, she has a pair of slightly tattered jeans that are held by a brown leather belt with a round silver buckle. The knees are white because they are worn out. They also seem a little dirty. She has grey and brown sneakers, which were once white. They are this colour because of all the dirt accumulated on them.

Personality: Molly is, normally, a cheerful ball of energy. She's almost always excited and hyperactive, the result of listening to too much techno. She talks and thinks too fast, sometimes getting royally off-subject. She sometimes has to repeat what she said because she spoke too fast. She doesn't realise it most of the time so it annoys her to repeat herself.

She seems to be oblivious to many things and, as such, is careless and carefree. Even if the danger is obvious, such as lasers or cameras, she'll just walk right into them, thinking it's nothing. Of course, when she gets caught in a trap or something similar, she'll be surprised and beg to be helped. Since she's hyperactive, she's also highly impatient. If she isn't good at something, she'll get fed up and quit because it'll take too long to be good at it.

She's very nice and helpful though, when she's not annoyed. She'd do anything to help one of her fellow Beat Blasters. After all, she is their leader. She knows it and, despite her many faults, does a pretty good job at being a leader. However, she often needs the other Blasters' assistance since she's bad at making decisions. She often hesitates despite her ability to think abnormally quickly, even though this often makes her think of something completely unrelated to the current situation.

Even though she might be nice and helpful, she's a compulsive liar. It's hard to know when she says the truth and, as such, it's hard to completely believe her. The only time you can believe her is when she swears that she's telling the truth. Even though this may seem like a bad thing at first, this aspect of her can be used for good. She can manipulate others to follow or help her or the Blasters with her lies. Whenever she does something wrong, she panics a little before inventing a reason or an excuse as to why she did it.

She's easily annoyed or irritated too. Whenever something doesn't go the way she wants it, she becomes annoyed. This is where her Little Teenage Bitch nickname comes from. She absolutely detests being mocked or insulted and she'll snap at whoever does so. Well, except Lee. She's pretty much her best friend and they have a very friendly relationship. Her relationship with the other Blasters is also fairly good, except for a few.

History: Molly was born in a fairly rich family. However, her parents weren't the typical rich ones. She had to work to get what she wanted. As such, she never really was snobby. As soon as she became 3, she got into Techno. She has never let it go ever since.

When she was six, she was popular at school and, even at that age, attended to parties. She, of course, had to sneak out of the house to do so. That was when she developped her lying abilities. She always invented very plausible stories whenever her parents caught her. She continued going to party for a long time, never getting caught once.

Her popularity kept going up at school and, eventually, she was one of the most popular girl at her school. Furthermore, she passed all her subjects easily even if she partied almost every night and almost never slept. Her body was used to it by the time she was 9.

Being pretty much a star at her school, she enjoyed every moment of it, having hundreds of friends. Pretty much everybody knew her. However, she didn't let it get to her head; she just wanted to have fun. She even started to do her own parties when she was around 11, earning the name of DJ Clarissa in the process. She became famous for her DJing skills, which boosted her already high popularity higher. She, of course, never let it get to her head.

Already a fairly famous DJ upon reaching 14, she held regular parties at her very own discothèque. Her parents just let her have fun since she passed all her subjects anyways. One night though, while playing Waves by DJ Satomi around 5 AM, she heard a strange voice. An angry, frustrated voice yelling. Worried by this, she went to sleep after the song finished. She was deeply troubled by this and needed time to think.

Over the next few days, she heard it again and again. Eventually, she heard a name: Balthazar. Intrigued, she quickly researched him and found out he was a once-famous scientist who had mysteriously dissapeared. She spent all day researching on the blind scientist, falling asleep from exhaustion since she had a party too.

The next day, when she went to get her breakfast, she pounded the counter in frustration when she noticed there was no more bread. As soon as her fist touched the counter, a huge blast of sound sent everything flying. Surprised by this, she looked at her hand before hitting the counter again, making another shockwave. Confused by this sudden power, she spent all that day trying to control it, which she did. Then, since there was a flash when she heard the voices, she figured that there were others like her, who heard Balthazar and his plans.

She searched for those "chosen ones", as she called them, for over two years without success. After all, she still held almost daily parties and raves at her discothèque and she still had to go to school. However, she finally found her first "chosen one": Lee Yari. It took a great deal of convincing to get the guitarist to believe her but she managed to do it. Then, the two agreed to create a group whose goal was to stop Balthazar. She was the one who got the idea of naming it "Beat Blasters".

She and Lee, one year later, decided to make a base connected to Lee's apartment and they did just that. Lee's demons helped a lot too. She dropped out of school that year, the guitarist influencing her greatly. Now she spends her time outside the base, searching for other Blasters or organising her raves at her discothèque.

Power: Can summon demons and skeletons with guitar solos. (Metal is often said to be the music of Satan by religious people, hence why Lee can summon demons)

Appearance: Lee, even though she looks a lot like a boy, is a girl. She's 5"9' and weighs 132 pounds. She has dyed red hair that barely reaches her neck. She doesn't take care of it and, as such, it's all stringy and messy. However, she always wears a loose pale yellow toque so you can't really see her hair that much. Her eyes' irises are olive green. She, like Molly, always has headphones with her. However, unlike her, she keeps them around her neck unless she's actually listening to something.

She wears clothing that a typical metalhead would wear. She wears a dark red and black biker jacket with a large skull printed behind it above black flames. She leaves it unzipped, showing a crimson shirt with black guitars on it. She wears a black wristband on her left wrist. She often has a spiky black guitar (first on the left) slung on her back. The guitar has a built in amp, meaning that she doesn't need to plug it to one to make it work.

For lower wear, she has pale blue jeans held by a thin brown leather belt with a silver buckle. In her right back pocket, she keeps a full wallet inside. There's a chain on it that circles her right leg. She wears black and white sneakers at all time, refusing to wear anything else for footwear.

Personality: Lee looks and acts like a boy, resulting in her getting mistaken for one regularly. This often annoys her because, according to herself, she obviously looks like a girl. At times, even her voice can be mistaken for a boy's since it's quite deep for a girl. She's extremely tomboyish too, not being afraid to get dirty and being an overall rough and tough person. Her name doesn't help figuring out her gender either as it is a typically male name that can be used for girls.

She's normally calm, cool and collected, which sharply contrasts with her best friend, Molly. She's often relaxed and she sleeps a lot. She very rarely gets angry at someone, often getting only mildly annoyed or irritated. If she does get angry though, she gets very vulgar and physical. She has a hugely competitive spirit too. She has a hard time refusing a challenge, no matter what it is.

She has the strange habit of calling people by their nicknames or stage names. For example, she calls Molly "Clarissa" and "LTB" most of the time, the latter being her own nickname for her. Very rarely will she call anyone by their real name. Her style of speech is very loose and decontracted too. Despite her Japanese family, she doesn't have a Japanese accent. She has the good old regular American accent.

Her two nicknames come from the fact that she's the spiritual leader of the Beat Blasters, as opposed to Molly who's the physical leader. She gives good advice too, often said in lyrics. She's also a former stoner, which makes her more apt to give advice. She's a wonderful songwriter, guitar player and, surprisingly, singer. However, her singing isn't a traditional girl's singing; she changes her voice to make it seem male. She can even sing by growling, even though it greatly hurts her throat. People are often amazed at her ability to sing and growl like a male despite being a girl.

Even though she's a huge Metal fan, she still knows quite a bit about other genres. Even Rap, which she despises. She dislikes it because it often talks about sex and drugs being good and treats women as sex objects. Even though she's normally rough and, for some, scary, she gives most of the money she earns to charity.

Lee is really perceptive too, being able to tell when Molly lies. She's pretty much the only one who can do that. She can see things that others probably won't see, most likely a result of her former drug usage. She's also resourceful.

The demons she can summon have a good relationship with her, even though she often orders them around since they're her slaves in a way. She does treat them nicely though. She respects them and they do the same to her. The strange thing is that, depending on the guitar solo, the demon might be like your classical, stereotypical red demon while another one might just look like a human being with wings and/or horns. Others are completely different too, looking nothing like what a demon normally looks. She can summon both male and female demons, each with their specific utility. Some respect and obey her while others need to be convinced before obeying her. Similarly, she has befriended some of them while she hates the rest. (See Extra Info)

History: Born in an American family and adopted by a Japanese family, who decided to give her a Chinese name, it's safe to say that Lee's early life was pretty strange. She looked nothing like her "parents" and had a Chinese name. This, along with the fact that she acted like a boy, made her the target of teasing. Of course, this annoyed her greatly.

The teasing continued until she was 10, where she learned how to play guitar. She got into Metal and music as a whole at that age and, surprisingly, the teasing stopped. She quickly got a lot of friends who didn't seem to care about her screwed up family. Happy with that, Lee's life was good up until she turned 13.

On her thirteenth birthday, she got accepted in her school's band, which made her popularity higher. Everything went well for a few months until one of her bandmates, the drummer, introduced her to the world of drugs. She instantly became hooked and managed to take them without her parents noticing. Everything went "well" for more than two years.

That was, until she was busted. The police caught her and, being high, she kept insulting them and even knocked one of them out. She was sent to court and, instead of doing prison, she was sent to a desintoxication center, courtesy of her parents. Seeing that they did care about her, Lee, who at first didn't want to go there, decided to try and get rid of her habits, even though it would be hard.

And it was hard. At first, she was really uncooperative, even fighting the officials there. She even thrashed the whole place once, even though it was more because the officials pissed her off. After the first eventful days, she calmed down and, about a year later, she was released from there. Happy with that, she had a small celebration held for her, which is where she got her trademark guitar.

However, a few days after she got released, she was playing her guitar alone at home and, when she did a specific solo, she summoned a strange, hunchback demon: Meno. Scared of the peculiar demon at first, she just sat there, eyes greatly widened as Meno kept asking where he was. After snapping out of it, she socialised with him and, surprisingly, became his friend. She had trouble understanding him though, even though she can understand him perfectly now. Strangely, she had a strange nightmare the night before, about a blind and crazy scientist yelling at himself.

When Meno went back to his realm, she continued playing her guitar and played the same solo, resummoning him. This surprised the two of them before they understood what happened. When Lee played a solo, it summoned a demon! Meno urged her to do another solo, which she did. The one she summoned was Annuwa, an extremely snobby and vain blue female demon. Since the two had conflicting personalities, they quickly started an argument which almost got physical. Luckily, Meno seperated the two and managed to talk Annuwa out of the mess. Lee then sent the two back to their realm since her parents were home.

For the next two years, she alternated between playing for a new band, socialising with all the demons she could summon, getting to know them all better, and going to charity events and schools to talk about drugs. When she was 18, a girl around her age approached and started babbling about some blind scientist who wanted to rule the world and all that. Not believing a word of it at first, she just ignored her. However, when the girl, who had revealed herself as Molly Ferguson, persisted, Lee gave in and decided to listen to her, making her repeat a lot because she spoke too fast.

After a few hours of convincing, Lee finally accepted, seeing that she had nothing to do except play her guitar since she had dropped out of school. She eventually warmed up to the disc jockey and she became her best friend. She eventually became the Beat Blasters' second leader, Molly being the first. She was the one who had the idea of creating a base for them and to connect it with her small apartment, since she had moved out of her parents' house. Almost all of her demons helped her build it, with the exception of Annuwa and The Jujuka, for obvious reasons.

Now 19, she often stays in the Beat Blasters' base, only getting out to go to reunions or shows with her band, Anemone Seven. She has learned a lot about Balthazar during the past year too, being the one who learned that he was creating a lot of machines to get rid of her and the rest of the Beat Blasters.

Extra Info: Lee can summon a total of 26 Demons, all with a different name and personality. She has a different relationship with all of them and they all have a different purpose.

• Ramoria has an iffy relationship with Lee. She sometimes accepts orders and sometimes she doesn't. She's often used to keep things under control if Lee summons too many demons.
• Drague respects Lee greatly and does whatever she asks her to do, even though she might ask for reasons. She's used in battles.
• Ragnag is like Lee's personal bodyguard. He'll do anything to protect her. He's very polite too. He's used in battles.
• Arora is a young, brave demon. She doesn't even need to be told to fight. As you may've guessed, she's used in battles most of the times.
• Egyuran is a very serious demon. She speaks very harshly and says everyone's faults. She helps Lee often though. She's often used for advice in tough situations.
• Erat is a tall and big demon who doesn't talk much. He obeys without question to Lee's orders. He's used for battles most of the time.
• Esama is a young, mischievous demon who obeys Lee without question. She's often used as a messenger due to her natural agility.
• Saryan is a tall, menacing demon who loves fighting and proving his stength. He only accepts fighting orders. As such, he's only used for battles.
• Beel is an arrogant demon who thinks he's the best at everything. Due to this, he's a multi-purpose demon who would do anything to make his pride bigger.
• Kandreza is a young but powerful demon who fights thanks to two large metallic-looking snakes attached to her abdomen. She's used for battles and to reach abnormally high things.
• Dren is a shy and depressed demon who can control darkness. Due to her shyness, she accepts orders without question. She's used as a multi-purpose demon.
• Kyan is a metallic-looking demon who's full of pep. Her cheerfulness doesn't make her oblivious though. She's used as a messenger and for battles.
• Nagasuke is a summoner. She has control over 4 larger, more powerful creatures. She's, of course, used for battles and transport.
• Suka is a very vain demon. She fancies herself over her beauty and uses it to her advantage. As such, she's used as a distraction on male enemies.
• Napish is a thunder demon. Very quick-witted, she makes a wonderful multi-purpose demon. She's on good term with Lee too.
• Helga is, like her sister Dren, shy. However, she controls light instead of darkness. She's often used with her sister in fights, even though they don't look alike at all. She is often with Lee since her appearance is very human-like, allowing her to be thought as only a friend and a human.
• Annuwa is a very snobby demon. She thinks she's not worth Lee's time and, as such, doesn't obey her a lot. When she does though, she's extremely powerful. She's used for battles.

• Fiega is a quiet, intimidating woman who fights with a large scythe. She obeys Lee without question and is used for battles.

• Yama is a frightening demon who can paralyse others with his high-pitched maniacal screeches. He's pretty much insane and sometimes turns on Lee only to be called back to his realm. He's used for battles.
• Meno is a peculiar hunchback demon with a strange way of speaking. He's a good friend of Lee and he's often summoned out of his realm. He's a multi-purpose demon.
• The Jujuka is a gigantic beast who fights for Lee, its master. It does not listen to anyone else and, if Lee doesn't say that it can't smash something, it will destroy it. It's used for difficult battles.
• Desdemona is a powerful demon who has an iffy relationship with her master. She often taunts Lee and, as such, is only summoned in times of crisis. She's a multi-purpose demon mainly used for battle.
• Fagore is a sadistic demon who greatly enjoys pain, whether it be inflicted to him or the contrary. He fights with the blood from his numerous scars. He's extremely powerful since he loves pain. He has a good relationship with Lee and obeys her. He's used for battles.
• Gargand is a savage demon who has no sense of honor. He destroys anything he's ordered to, no matter the size. He gets angry if he can't destroy it. He's used mainly for battles.

Most Hated Genre: Country

Power: Renea can cause shockwaves, sound waves, to appear and move outward in a ripple motion from any part of her body, mostly her feet and hands. If she wishes to use her abilities, when she touches something a different pitched note will sound as the waves move. The speed of the waves as well as the frequency of the note determines the beat. The beat allows Renae to alter the speed of time corresponding to those factors.
A drummer keeps the beat and is pretty much the timer of a band. Pop is whatever is good on the charts at the time but the notes and lyrics flow evenly, requiring precise timing.

Appearance: Renae
Renae has long blonde hair with a few natural streaks of dark amber that reaches just below her waist. Her eyes are bright blue but they have flecks of darker blue around the pupil. Her skin is fair but she has a few freckles on her cheeks and arms, other than that her skin is clean of marks. Except for one cut along the back of her hand from the base of her thumb to a little shorter than the base of her pointer finger, about an inch in length. This cut has healed over though and shows as a scar.
Her figure is average and tall as she is 5’ 7”. She has normal shoulders, not broad, and her hips show at an average size. For her cloths, she first of all wears a hat on her head. It is a navy blue hat with darker blue lines on it running around the edge. She wears it backwards so it flairs out in the back but isn’t a baseball cap. It is more like a beret but more fitting to the head. On the left side of the beret is a little orange kitty head.
Her shirt is a tank top that ends underneath her chest. It has overall straps that hook to the bottom of the tank top and go across the shoulder straps. On the front of the shirt, which is black and white, is a smiling kitty face. Underneath her shirt is a cream colored pocket pouch that does not wrap around her waist but is attached to the overall straps. She also has a band about an inch thick on her left arm, just below the elbow.
She wears a thick belt that holds up her blue jeans, which aren’t in perfect condition. On her hip, attached to the belt, are three chains. One is has large beads on it while the other two are two different types of chain link. They are connected to the third loop and wrap around her to connect to the first loop on the back of her waist. They have at least six pockets, the basic front two and back two, along with two on the left side of the jeans, but where else would she put her drum sticks? On her right knee, just below, there is a rip that has turned into a hole. The jeans flare out at the bottom so that when walking cover half her feet. Her shoes are sandals that have a single strap to hold them on her feet.

Personality: Renae is outgoing and fun loving but serious about certain things. Cats are her favorite type of animal, obviously by the amount on her cloths. She isn’t always the brightest one of the bunch but she tries her best and is determined when it comes to anything that she does. One of her must haves are her drum sticks. She never goes anywhere without them and stores them in the extra pockets on her jeans. As a habit, she fiddles with her drum sticks often and sometimes plays the notes on whatever around her when thinking.
Other than that she wants to make friends and loves adventure, being one of her hobbies is hiking and riding. Her personality is normally bright and cheerful but her feelings can be hurt. When alone she just thinks to herself, but when around others she tends to talk a lot at times. She doesn’t like country all that much but loves the drums in almost any genre. One of her greatest fears are sharks, don’t ask why, they just are.

History: Renae grew up like most other kids, a mom, a dad, one loving family. She went to school and learned plenty of things she would never need but of course a few things she might actually use for once. She made decent grades, normally an A, the range was never certain though. One of her favorite things to do though was to play in a band. She had been on the high schools’ band but she only liked using the Quad Drums but she didn’t like the genre they played all of the time.
After a while she quit Band class and moved on to playing the drum in a little band. They weren’t much and it was more for kicks as they all were friends and needed something to do when homework became too boring. Renae would always play the drums, maybe a little bass or guitar, but normally not. Whenever they weren’t practicing, she would sometimes find herself fiddling with her drum sticks and playing the notes on whatever was in front of her, a little habit it turned into.
At the time that Balthazar's experiment failed, Renae was practicing her drums, yes in the middle of the night she was banging on them, bothering the neighbors. At the time one of the street cats jumped in through her window and knocked over a bowl. The bowl started to fall to the ground, causing her to dash toward it. At this moment one of the shockwaves were produced and the bowl slowed down eventually shattering on the floor. Renae was surprised at first but learned about it more clearly when she heard the voice of the scientist.
It surprised her however that she could hear the scientist at all, but his words chilled her. She felt the need to find out more about the words that she heard but she couldn’t just leave her home. Therefore, she packed up over the weekends and searched for anyone else like her. Over this time she learned how to control her power’s quite well but thankfully she was unnoticed as different. Because her power was to alter time no one would notice when she used it unless there was a great change over the time.
But after about a year, she still hadn’t found out anything about that scientist. She ended up moving to Chicago to work on her band skills instead of focusing on the scientist. Not making many friends however she preferred to work outdoors were she could do whatever she wanted and not be bothered. Now, more time has passed and she has almost forgotten the whole point of setting out in the first place until she met a girl, Molly. Molly seemed different as well as she too had a power.
Renae was pleased that she had found someone else like her, but Molly spoke of tracking down the scientist and stopping him. She was unsure if she wanted to join in on this adventure, but she couldn’t help herself and agreed to travel with Molly as the Beat Blasters.

Power: Ghost has the marvelous ability to make any electronic device that she touches either work perfectly or explode when she uses her voice. She's learned that when she's well balanced and content, then good things happen, and when she's off beat, then things blow up, crash, and burn. (One of the main themes of steampunk is mad scientists. Mad scientists make things blow up. 8D )

Appearance: Probably the most average sort of person one can find, Rei has long, dirty blonde hair that she keep out of the way in a loose ponytail or a tight braid at all times. Her eyes are a light steel blue, but tend to darken to an almost blackish blue-green when she's particularly angry. Her face in general is slightly wolfish in appearance, with a roman nose, high cheek bones, and a stern jaw and brow. Despite the fact that she bathes regularly, she is always dirty from moving through crawlspaces or on dusty catwalks to get to any malfunctioning lights, cables, curtains, wiring, etc. If it weren't for that, she'd probably be very pretty.

She is strong enough for someone of her 5'5", and can at least push her weight around a little when she needs to. Her arms, though thin, are well muscled from practicing staff-fighting and Tai Chi. She moves with refined steps and quick reflexes, and is usually fairly light on her feet when she needs to be. She doesn't eat much, often forgetting that she needs food while working on projects. Then her grumbling stomach reminds her that she needs food, and she eats heartily enough to shame a cow (when enough food is available). Though she's not the lightest person around, she can handle herself well above ground, namely when performing acrobatics or working as a roadie.

She most often wears a dark brown turtleneck with elbow-length sleeves, well-worn, scratched, and patched-many-times-over tan cargo pants with extra pockets hand-sewn in convenient locations (hence one of her many nicknames), and knee-high black boots. She usually wears a slightly worn-out looking leather belt and half-belt that have many extra loops and d-rings on them. It has multiple gadgets and gizmos attached, including her knife, small bottles with weird-looking fluids in them (some are energy drinks, some are grease or cleaning fluid, only she knows which is which), etc. She always keeps a pair of beat-up goggles around her neck, though nobody really knows what they're for, and she looks ridiculous and somehow unnervingly scary when they're covering her eyes.

Personality: Rei is a rather strange character, shrewd and cunning as well as gentle and kind. Her personality seems to shift depending on who she's around, and so no one believes they've seen the real her. When she's alone, thoughts that would most likely seem cruel or malicious run through her head, though there is really no negative emotion behind them at all. She is very open-minded about many things, expecting others to be as well, and believes that the past is the past, you can't do much about it. Though she generally seems rather abrasive, those who know her find that she's truly a devoted and loyal friend, never meaning any person harm unless they do her or her friends serious harm, whether physically, spiritually, emotionally, or mentally. She does her best in any job that she's given, and if given the supplies and a fair amount of time, she can do just about anything she sets her mind to. She has a very child-like demeanor, really, in both her facial expressions, her curiosity, and when learning how something works.

Clinically depressed, but seemingly quite content with her lot in life, she never puts herself above others unless they do something truly down and dirty. She'll defend anyone and everyone, even her few enemies, as long as their side of things doesn't hurt anyone or take away their rights. She was raised in a strongly religious family, and is probably one of the few people who, despite questioning many of the details, takes all of the moral lessons to heart. This includes God's smiting of sinners. It is not her place to do so, and instead of thinking herself above all she believes herself to be one of the worst and will do anything to help others become better than herself, even going so far as to ridicule herself and make people hate her so that they can move forward. She's made herself the object of many jokes when it comes to things like this, saying that she might make God cry, but at least she'll give the Devil a few laughs.

History: Rei grew up in a fairly average household, with multiple cats and dogs around her at all times, and later on with a younger sister who she hated and loved all at once. Her childhood was fairly simple, never having to worry about going hungry. Though she was one of the smartest people in her class, she had below average grades (nobody likes homework, and she was terrible with keeping track of it).

Her father worked with computers, probably one of the most qualified people for any techie position, and taught his daughter everything that he knew when she was little. Because of him she has her knowledge of how things work, and can often build off of that in extreme ways. However, though she didn't realize it until her teens, he was a heavy drinker and there were very few times when he was sober. He was constantly furious with all of her family, accusing her mother of cheating whenever she wanted to go out with friends, and though he never beat any of them, it was always Rei's greatest fear. She seemed to be the only member of the family that took his problems seriously.

Her mother was constantly babying her children, trying to make up for the harshness of their father, and though she'd never admit to it, despaired that she'd ever married the man. She was, however, a very religious woman, and despite all her threats would never leave her husband. Both parents were quite strict with their children when it came to teaching them about God and the Devil, but only Rei took it to heart. She questioned her religion, never aloud but mostly in prayer, and even asked 'God' several times if he was real. When she wasn't asking, she did in fact see the smallest little signs that seemed to her signs from him, and though she continues to doubt and question, she does not doubt the existence of a higher power that listens to her prayers.

Given her situation, Rei found sanctuary and solitude in walks and in books very early in life, and was reading college-level books by the time she was in 2nd grade. This led her to be very shy, and the few human friends that she managed to make quietly fell away from her after meeting her parents, refusing to have anything to do with any of them. When she was 14, she began stepping out of her shell. A young man just barely older than her had asked her to be his girlfriend, and after introducing her to his small group of friends, she began to open up to people. Rei found that strangely enough, she was the most deep-thinking and mature of all her friends, though many times she acted like the most immature. She watched as her friends caused and got caught up in fights, drama, and various other situations that were just plain unreasonable, and even went so far as to act as the group's mother figure on many occasions, breaking up fights and explaining to people why they were wrong and she was right (always making it a joke of course).

By the time she was nearing her 17th birthday, she had opened up into a smart, friendly young woman that few people could ever make an enemy out of, and though her family several times sent her to a psychiatrist for her strange behaviors and depressing mannerisms, she always ended up going more to just have a friendly conversation rather than a therapy session. She secretly bought herself a beat-up old van, one of those with shag carpeting and swivel chairs in the back, and fixed it up with a window seat, a small couch, and even a mini fridge where a set of cupboards used to be.

Music had always been a very large part of her life, and ever since she was little girl one could find her humming or singing along to any song that she happened to hear. The only sort of music that she doesn't really like is rap, though there are a few songs that she doesn't particularly mind, and most songs with screaming in them seem just pointless to her. She learned how to play the violin while still in high school, and her old high school friends began a band, Thorn United, with her included as a violinist and vocalist. She's quite good at both, especially when it comes to harmonizing with others, and though she can't quite reach some of the lower notes, she can sing very clearly over a wide range.

She was singing along to a particularly interesting piece one afternoon when she was working on the van, when a strange voice seemed to enter her head. In almost a daydream, she imagined a weird old scientist rambling about taking over the world, and, believing it to be another weird quirk of her imagination (her brain was always coming up with things like that), she shrugged it off. After this, she found that while she tinkered, she was able to fix things to the point that they were nigh unbreakable. However, any time that Rei became angry or upset, anything she touched that was electronic would explode in a shower of sparks and minor shrapnel. Rei herself was miraculously never harmed, but anyone else in the area would be at least mildly scorched.

After a few bouts of confusion and despite anyone's reassurances or suspicions, Rei finally came to the conclusion that God himself was doing this, in an attempt to tell her that to become upset or to defend herself was wrong. She'd never gotten upset or angry at anyone before she started making real friends, so she had no other real explanation. This hurt her quite deeply on a sub-conscious level, but she'd learned at a young age that being passive was better than being aggressive. She got pretty skilled at controlling her emotions, and even got to the point where she became completely emotionless, but she took all the insults and jokes to heart and slowly became a more and more dysfunctional person. Very few people know exactly what's going on in her head at any one time, and given the fact that she thinks in images, sounds, and colors, it's often difficult to put words to her thoughts. When she fails to answer questions about what she's thinking, people will often get mad at her, shun her, or even make fun of her for it, enforcing her belief that she is abnormal and doesn't belong.

Just after her 17th birthday, she had saved up enough side money for herself and packed all of her belongings into a single knapsack and loaded gadgets and gizmos, as well as her many tools, into a harness she'd constructed for herself, and she left home in her van without another word. To this day she believes that her family is better off and happier without her, and the people in her town have a much easier life now that they don't have a freak among them. After she left home, she often worked as a mechanic and repair-girl for any bands who happened to need it, finding the life exciting despite the fact that her musical talent was rarely needed. She only sings out loud when she is by herself, or at least is the only person in the room, and doesn't play the violin for anyone anymore unless it's needed as a part in a song.

One evening, while fixing some lights that a group had busted while being a little too violent and pulling cords they shouldn't have, the lead singer began taunting her with rather tiring insults. Rei was fine with ignoring them at first, but as he began taunting her more and more, and she began shooting blank, emotionless retorts at him. As he continued, she finally snapped and yelled at him, scaring him quite badly when every light in the complex burst. He and the rest of the group proceeded to call her a freak, and she left without another word, leaving them to try to fix the mess themselves. Outside, a girl she'd never seen before started talking to her about some guy named Balthazar, and how he was trying to take over the world. Listening halfheartedly, Rei didn't really believe her story, but agreed to join the group as a roadie anyway. She's been with them ever since, and has never been more than annoyed since she joined. She sings sometimes, able to manipulate her voice fairly well to accommodate different musical styles, and will play the violin as back-up, but more often works on equipment and lights, making sure that everything is in perfect working order.


Balthazar actually sounds like he'd get along with Rei, if it weren't for the whole...get rid of music...thing...and 12 rules is way too many x3
