Well, now that Project M is out, Jeff has moved to yet another project with a much more ominous sounding name.
Project V.
(Because we all know that the closer to X the projects name is, the more evil it is.)
Personally I think it's Project Very awesome Bidoofs that randomly and spontaneously burst into flames and explosions because we all know that is AWESOME.
A.K.A. Project VABTRASBIFAEBWAKTIA. (And if you can't tell I'm being sarcastic here, you fail.)

It's pretty obvious what Project V is, for one thing, V is the Roman numeral for 5, in other words, it's Generation 5, they're adding in the 5th Gen Pokemon (well, it had to be sooner or later).....

They said in older threads when people asked, they would add their names, and put in the English names when they are released. I'm pretty sure BlackIce said they weren't gonna wait for the English names...

I think it could be early prep for Generation 5. However it would only be prep because Jeff promised release would be in Spring.

The only other thing I could think of would be something dealing with Victini, who has "V" written all over itself, metaphorically speaking. I don't think this has anything to do with Gen. 5 either, unless there might be a special Exploration that introduces it into the site to start off, and the rest of the Gen. 5 Pokemon get here in Spring as originally intended.
The only reason I suggested Christmas/Hanukkah/etc. was because I was assuming that V didn't stand for anything and it was just an arbitrary project name, and the holidays are rapidly approaching.
What's really on my mind is the possibility of a new site mechanic, although I don't have too many ideas on what one could be.

We are not waiting for English names, but egg designs instead...
Regardless, I don't think it's gen V pokemon...but it /could/ be gen V related...
In any case, right now V stands for "vague" and I'm not going to guess anymore xD

Well, we all know that the admins always make us look stupid with these guess threads, so the only way to beat them will be something random. If M stood for mobile, V could be the well guessed 5th generation. OR, it could be the GPX+ Video games revived.
The video games, Zerxer and Wymsy versions, were a hot topic and was VERY eagerly awaited project. Before it could be released, however, the project died. It could easily be that they might revive these as well as Gen. 5 pokemon. But because they said they wouldn't do that until English names, I am doubtful of the first option.

People keep saying that but I don't remember that being said anywhere.

I remember Wymsy specifically said that she won't wait so they're most likely making them now. Just search Wymsy's posts, you'll find the post eventually.

I don't see the point of people's concern about spoiling the gen 5 pokemon before the English release. The hard truth is that the game is and there is no sense in waiting simply because of English names. This isn't to say that V can refer to some other project, but all I'm saying is that avoiding spoiling is absolutely not a reasonable answer to why hold off gen 5. Now if you want to say copyright issues, match it with the English release, or other valid reason fine. I'm just sick and tired of people complaining about not wanting to be "spoiled" when the game is already out.

I remember Wymsy saying she hates waiting and isn't going to wait until the English version. Of course, that doesn't mean they will be released before it. It will be released whenever the hell they finish it and if that's before the English version then fine, if it's after then fine too.
That also doesn't mean Project V isn't Gen V. They do have to release it sooner or later and it could very well be soon. I think Project V will be Gen V but I'm not as sure about it as others seem to be. I'm terrible with speculation because I'm always wrong so I'm just going to wait and see.

V... victory... Victini... HEY it could be the introduction to Victini! Victini is a pokemon that while it has a national dex number it actually has no gen 5 number unless you count 000 as a number.

I agree with Numbuh 893. The V obviously stands for vanilla because the staff has ice cream and are not sharing. 
On a more serious note, I looked on dictionary.com for "V" and this is one of the things that came up:
V definition
Upper case V, ASCII character 86, known in INTERCAL as book.
1. A testbed for distributed system research.
Since BB programs, this may be significant. Any thoughts?

It's probably something pointless like changing the way pages are viewed, even though the way we view the pages is perfect the way it is.....

Nope, they never said that. I mentioned it in chat once and I was quickly corrected. The new Pokemon will be added when they're added, regardless of when the egg sprites are finished. I also clearly remember hearing that if they are added before the English names are out, they'll just use the Japanese names until the English names are publicly revealed.

^ Did everyone ignore this? You're all still going on about gen 5 when he just said that Steakhouse is onto something with their "it's probably something completely unrelated to gen 5" post. I know everyone's so hyped up with gen 5 because it was recently released in Japan, but maybe set that unhealthy obsession aside for a moment to think about something else?

Secondly, BB could have very well been talking about the "trolling" part..rather than unrelated to gen V thing..since multiple people said it probably wasn't related to gen V beforehand.....
Honestly, I don't /think/ it's gen V related either..BUT..I'm not completely cutting it out...hopeless dreaming..maybe? But the truth is no one knows for sure what project v is and thus no one can say for sure it's one thing or another...I don't take BB's comments as doctrine for he could very well be twisting our words...He seems the time to want to "troll" us..as Steakhouse said in their comment...

I'm not saying that it's definitely NOT gen 5, because I agree (and said earlier in the thread) that no one can say with any certainty what it is or isn't, but the thread is a bit boring when 9 out of every 10 posts is saying "OMG IT'S GEN 5, IT HAS TO BE". We were all caught off guard with "M" being "Mobile," even though he'd said a couple times before that he was working on it, so it seems more likely that it's not gen 5 at all, and very, VERY few people in the thread can think of anything except gen 5.
@Masterge: Which three, if I may ask?
EDIT: Art isn't even Bidoof's department, is it?

Though I can care less about those three, I just want to know the starter names for now, and no, I will not be accepting "Smugleaf" as one of the official names, I personally prefer "Ivyper" for Tsutaja than "Smugleaf", because it refers to what the Pokemon is actually based off of.....

I know everyone's so hyped up with gen 5 because it was recently released in Japan, but maybe set that unhealthy obsession aside for a moment to think about something else?

V does stand for a multitude of things, some I mentioned in an earlier post of mine.
Victory Road is a possibility, and honestly, the only one I can think of now.

I think we should be getting a new wave of speculation regarding gen5 in the next few days. They are planning to release the English names for the starters on Monday. If it is gen5 then I would prefer then releasing new pokes as the English names come out instead of doing one huge release. But yeah its all speculation........

Do you really think they'd work something that's obvious? Every update we've gotten as been a mystery and has led to threads such as this one. Also, do have a little more patience. It takes a while to program everything.

SO, I HAD A DREAM THAT THERE WAS A VIRUS ON GPX SO THAT MUST MEAN THAT THERE WILL BE A VIRUS YOU CAN GET ON GPX and then that I drew chickens and BB wanted to marry the chickens I drew and the site skin was turned into something really ugly and covered with black ribbons, so obviously this dream can be trusted
...Maybe the way you get Pokerus will change again? o.o That wasn't what my dream was hinting at but while writing it out it started to seem plausible.
Then again, I've also had dreams about it being the fifth gen and going to my school canteen (the lab in my dream) that was for some reason underground and lining up for fifth gen eggs, so my dreams only prove that I have no life.
Anyway, onto something that ACTUALLY HAPPENED;
Reset looked different today... could that be Project V and it was Project "View and click reset" or something? That'd kinda be a letdown.

Some Victini where handed out on the Christmas draw, I doubt it has to do with this. And BB's status message says its coming in january. Unless he's trying to throw us off the trail, it can't be Valentine either. Most of the 5th gen pokemon are going to be out on friday aside from a few legendaries, so I don't think 5th gen has anything to do with it.
Besides, (since it seems to be happening in january) it wouldn't be a 5th gen related thing because there are probably still people waiting for the games to come out in March before they start getting 5th gen pokemon here (12 days of christmas was an exception, they DID warn 5th gen was going to be used in it though. Also the draw - people who probably blocked 5th gens either got nothing or a christmas novelty)

You're probably right. That would be something he'd do. As for what it is... well, the gen V idea is pretty much moot now that all the eggs are obtainable. So an exploration would be a good idea.

The gen 5 idea was "moot" the day he announced it and he told us Project V was NOT gen 5.

1. The Jewels currently don't actually do anything except sit there and look pretty, so experimenting is pretty much a waste of your time.
2. This has nothing to do with Jeff's Project V.
3. This has nothing to do with obtaining and/or changing the forms of Legendary Pokémon.
4. Jewels are entirely my own thing.
5. Trust me, you won't have to worry about their quantity appearing as 1.
So now I'm confused. :<

I know this is waaaaaay too much going out on a limb, but perhaps Project V has something to do with the VDex Project. Yeah, probably not. I just think the site would be a lot more engaging if there was something more to it. The "journey around the world" part of vdex was fun until it became monotonous.

It is, But Shirogane, the Brains of the site, Did get most of her attention from a shop, then a Webcomic that was here on the forums. after the web comic moved to its own site and after its cancelation, she went on designing Vdex.
Still unlikely though. I think Shiro said she had no plans to design anything similar to GPX for her site

I don't think that this project is about the emotes... On BB's status, it says "Project V, coming to a GPX+ near you... in January". If it was the emotes for the forums, don't you think that it would have been "Project V, coming to a GTS+ near you... in January". No, whatever this is, it's for GPX+. Probably.

Guess we'll see what Project V is about soon. =D I'm excited. Though it said 'updates' as in plural so possibly also the exploration. I'd say the jewels also we got for christmas, but I won't hold my breath on that. Either way, I'm really excited.

Personally I think it has something to do with the Jewels. My wild prediction is that it's some sort of mini-game and that the jewels give you a different advantage for the game depending on what type you have. But at the same time I really have no clue. XD.

Nope, I'm pretty sure we've bled out every single clue. They really haven't given us much to work with. But if BB keeps his time table, we'll know by the end of the week.

The prizes were way more than fair, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
As for the other comment - you seriously need to chill out. They don't need to give us ANY of these updates. They didn't need to give everyone on the site an opportunity to get a Legendary Voucher +, or whatever Project V is, or this new Exploration, but they did. Maybe he was wrong about the time frame. O well. Be happy that this site is kept up so well and that they give us so many wonderful updates in the first place.
Anyway, as I said in the other thread, I think we'll laugh at how obvious it is, or at least should have been, when it's revealed, just like with Project M. I don't have any suggestions, though.
