Hey guys! Did you all enjoy last month's thread? (: I hope so! Every month a new community thread will be made and the old one will be discarded into the archives. I don't want a super huge thread to continue to get even bigger, so I hope everyone is excited for a fresh start every month!

If you're new here then don't be shy! The community thread is the place to come and chat with fellow members of the site who share a common interest with you. Talk about whatever you want, whether it's GPX related or something going on in your personal life, just be sure to read the rules first before posting. There's always someone on the forums to read and respond to your posts, so chat away and maybe you'll meet some great people!

Rules
If any staff member catches word of anyone bullying other members there will be punishments; such as, not being able to be eligible for the drawing, and a warning of a percentage that staff seems suitable for the committed infraction. If I find out anything I will send you a message saying what I heard/saw while leaving everyone else anonymous — so have no fear if you need to report someone — and tell you what you did wrong and why you’re being punished in such a way. Fair enough? Please keep it civil!

• Regular forum rules still apply here. Basically don't double post. Don't ask for clicks every time you fill your party. Unless it gets out of hand*, I'm okay with you linking to an exploration Pokemon who needs a specific berry.
  
  *out of hand meaning I don't want to see Pokémon being linked just for leveling or if they need drinks for happiness. These kinds of interactions can be handled just fine by being in your parties and signatures.
  
  
• While posting an exploration Pokémon is A-OK, it is NOT okay to make those your only posts and have absolutely no other interaction in this thread. It's a community thread, not a personal dumping ground.
  
  
• Do not post your shinies here, there's a http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=5491 for that. Discussing them is OK though! Just make sure you add content to your post.
  
  
• Do not post your GPX+ gear grinders in this thread either. There's also a http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=49472 for that.
  
  
• Do not litter your post with swear words.
  
  
• DO NOT NOMINATE YOURSELF. If you send me a PM nominating yourself you'll receive a verbal warning. Do it again and you will be placed in the restricted group which will prevent you from being able to win an event egg during the duration of the event.
  
  
• Do not make this thread's nominations a popularity/clique group. Even if you don't like someone, send them a nomination if they're following the rules and being active in the thread. Please be fair!
  
  
• Do not suck up to staff who are participating in discussion. We will notice this. Not cool, man! (Talking and sucking up are two different things and we'll notice the difference, I promise. So don't be scared to talk to us!)
  
  
• No memes. Examples: Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, Bad Luck Brian, Socially Awkward Penguin, Awkward Moment Seal, etc. If you want to post an image to give imagery to your post, such as the kind of breed your dog or cat is, a screenshot of the villagers in your animal crossing game, your new haircut, etc. then that's fine. Put them in a spoiler though.
  
  
• Gifs are allowed, but don't overuse them. If the thread turns into nothing but gif replies, I'll give everyone a 10% warn that was involved because it's just plain out spam! If you feel that you know of a gif that is relevant to the conversation, such as dis gon be gud, then go ahead and put it in a spoiler tag. That's fine!
  
  
• No quote pyramids! Be sure to cut out everything that was before what you're replying to. They can get long and make a page annoying to scroll through, so be considerate to your fellow members!
  
  
• A post must be AT LEAST one sentence long. If you’re saying hi or bye to someone be sure to add something more to your post.

Nominations
What are nominations?
Nominations are a side thing of the community thread to encourage participation. Anyone who gets a nomination from any user is entered into a monthly raffle where the winners (there are 3 of them) get to choose a legendary or novelty, barring Arceus, to be handed out in the egg distribution. Details about the egg distribution are in the second post of this thread.

The criteria to look for when choosing people to nominate is based on their participation in this thread. That's all. Just participation!

How do I nominate someone?
To nominate someone you need to send me a list of names through a PM titled 'Nominations' and from there I will keep track of all the names that were sent in.

Example:
Zerxer
Big Bidoof
Jen
Darth Krytie

OR

Zerxer, Big Bidoof, Jen, Darth Krytie

Both of those ways work fine.

What do you do with the nominations once they're sent?
I put them in a PHP script that will randomly choose three winners each month.

There are no restrictions to sending nominations, so if you want to send some twice a week, once a month, or everyday that's fine! Only nominate people who are being active in this thread. Nominations from elsewhere and the IRC will not count.

In the end, this is all for FUN, so remember that! Don’t get competitive with other users, make friends instead! Besides, being angry and stressed will make you break out, and you don't want to break out, so think of your skin! Jokes aside, please be respectful of everyone around you. If something rubs you the wrong way then send a private message to the person and talk it out. Leave the drama in private, or I, or other mods that are on, will chase you with our warn sticks!!!

How to get an egg from this event

• You must keep at least one slot open in your party.
• You MUST have logged in sometime on GPX+ in the last two weeks.
• You can not be in the restricted group.

IMPORTANT EVENT NOTES

1. No, you do NOT have to be online at the time I am sending out eggs.
2. These eggs do NOT show up in the Lab for the event. They are sent out randomly.
3. There is ONE set shiny for each Pokémon, but every other egg has a regular chance of being shiny.
4. If you obtain ONE of the eggs from this event, you will NOT be able to obtain another one from this same event. This means if you get an egg on day 1 of this event, you can't get an event egg from any other day during this event. By the way, abandoning an event egg does nothing. So if you get one you might as well keep it and be happy.
5. If we find any accounts being made just to get eggs from the event then they will be immediately banned along with your main.
6. If you were a winner of the raffle, your chosen Pokémon will be spawned into your party on the day of the event. It won't be forced shiny, but there's always a small chance just like any other egg! This will not count as an event egg and you can still receive one from the event.
7. There is no guarantee that you'll receive an egg. There have been about 3k users online daily and there are only 1,750 eggs going out, so that at least gives you a little more than a 50% chance at getting something.
8. Eggs chosen will not be available to pick from again for 3 months. If x legendary was in the January egg distribution, then it can not be chosen again until May.
9. I will be aiming for 4 p.m. server time to start the event, but keep in mind that there is no set time of day these show up. I have to be online in order to run the script.

Event dates and what's being handed out

• July 3rd: Mew - Winner: Nemu - 350 eggs
• July 4th: This one Pokémon is enjoying the coolness of the southern hemisphere. ~ Articuno - 350 eggs
• July 5th: This Pokémon is enjoying three months in the heat of the northern hemisphere. ~ Moltres ~ 350 eggs
• July 6th: Deoxys (Speed) - Winner: A Serendipitous Encounter - 350 eggs
• July 7th: Bidofo - Winner: nitrodog96 - 350 eggs

Hooray for the month of June!

I bought a popsicle maker at Costco’s last weekend, so my mom and I can have some homemade popsicles while we sit and watch fireworks on July 4. Hopefully, the monsoon weather doesn’t disrupt the firework-show like it has for the past couple of years, lol.

Also, I hope I’ll be more productive this month. I was so burnt out from everything that I accomplished absolutely nothing in June. XD

Well, there's always the option to get rich off Blood Diamonds. If'n you don't mind breaking the law. But then again, WOULD you be breaking the law if the colony was yours?

And again, I need none of these Legends. Maybe I should do TBD, and attempt to finish it off this time. It's the only one I still need to complete all explorations. At least until another new one arrives, that is.

Awww... With the site being so busy releasing new things these past months, I've been really hoping that we'll see new Special Explorations for the Kalos Legendaries soon. Well, although there are no new Specials this month, the available ones really work out for me. I need Entei to have all of the Legendary Beasts and Virizion to complete the Musketeers.

Fed all the suffering Pokemon posted here, which reminded me this is the first time I've not finished a Special Exploration within the month. It's not that I was incapable of getting it done, I was just being lazy (and spending most of my free time on my tablet instead of my computer). So glad I have until the 14th to get it done, though I'll probably be finishing it before I go to bed anyway.

Well, actually, I think I did go over the limit for a Special Exploration years ago, before my 2-year hiatus. It may have even been because I went on hiatus that it wasn't finished in time. Pretty sure it was the Regigigas one.

I'm not too excited for this month egg distribution. I'll probably try to get Deoxys since it prevents me from doing another exploration. Already have a Mew and I'm trying to get Perfectionist through the birds exploration.

On another note, I helped a bit and Prize+ is now at 80%.

Did you give vitamins to a stat that was boosted by its nature? That nature boost can bump up the stat one after the 6 vitamins.

Oh June... you were such a good month to me.

Oh July... the monsoon's that you stir up!

Happy Canada Day to all you true northerners.

I shouldn't be surprised that the new thread is already 4 pages into it before my day even gets jump started. LOL There is nothing like the excitement of new things coming out to get the conversations flowing. Which event day to aim for.... which... event.... hmmmm....

I do have the listed Pokemon so I may well try to remember to be free on the mystery days. I'm thinking of conquering this hotful humidity with some nice coolness. But yeah, I'll probably vie for one of the two mystery Pokemon days this month. And just having re-read the event day script... it does seem to suggest that on the first day there is the one Pokemon. But on the other... we might well have a choice. That one sounds intriguing.

Currently I'm still taking a seriously casual stroll through DotW. This one might take me through the rest of the month at this pace! But with the work distractions and such it's ok. At least I'm still enjoying it. Sadly that might mean I have only one of the special explores I can do for the month so I'll definitely have to choose carefully. *eek*

Kudos to our winners from June though! You three were definite talkers last month and I like the Pokemon you chose, too! Honestly, no matter what Pokemon I hopefully get this month from the event... if I get one that any of you picked, I'll be happy with it. After all, if the true object is to capture them all [in shiny form] then yeah. I'll need one of each.

Anyone have any hunches yet on what the mystery giveaways will be?

My best guess is something along the lines of Winter Vulpix/Snowy Girafarig and Summer Swinub/Magma Totodile, given the cold/heat references as well as the hemispheres (since the northern hemisphere is now in summer and the southern in winter). Can't figure out what the bolded numbers have to do with anything, unless it's that Snowy Girafarig is a one-evolution line and SS/MT are three-evo lines? Or I could be totally wrong altogether, lol.

I just skimmed through the thread here (instead of clicking... sheesh! what's wrong with me!!) and saw we were briefly talking about The Walking Dead. *shivers* I did try to give that show a go, but it wigged me out too much and I had to stop. My oldest watches it though; I think she was playing ketchup through Netflix. My latest guilty pleasure show has turned me into a Whovian. Yup. I am watching Doctor Who. I never understood it before, but watching it from the first episode (beginning with Eccelston that is) I guess you can stay I'm totally a Whovian now. Last night's episode we ended with was "A Good Man Goes to War". Dang! I never saw that plot twist coming!!

Ah, Ebay, Vande. Yeah. I don't do that site at all. Kudos on getting your Splatoon guy though.

VK, you and I both know the nature oughtn't affect the total IV count. If I feed it 6 vites, its IVs should go from 142 to 148, not 149 :P

Except that the Natures function as multipliers to whatever stat they affect. If you add 6 points to the stat with the vitamins, you're increasing the number that the nature is multiplying. Say you have a Jolly natured Pokemon with 100 speed. If you add six vitamins to its speed, it goes to 106, multiplied by 1.1 equals 116.6, which rounds up to 117.

I've done this several times. I'm surprised you didn't know this.

I'm collecting different possibilities, but everything I hatch has some crap IVs. The only thing with halfway decent ones I found was a Safari Zone poke x.x

I think you misunderstood, VK.

The stats THEMSELVES didn't rise wonkily, the IVs did >.>

Like, I gave 6 vitamins, but 7 IVs were given. 1 IV may not equal 1 stat point, but 1 vitamin's supposed to equal 1 IV, right? My Dragonite got 7 IVs boosted, not 7 stat points (I didn't count them).

I believe that would happen unless the vitamins took the IVs to 31. The bonus point would be applied as an extra IV point.

Vitamins don't round up like that (1 vitamin = 1 IV no matter what), so it seems to be a glitch.

Besides, man, I'm worried about the IVs themselves, not the nature/stats. After all, IVs aren't multiplied by nature in any way (since they can reach 31 regardless). It's a flat increase: 1 vitamin = 1 IV, which may or may not = 1 stat point. I get that. MY question is, why did 6 vitamins get me 7 IVs? My Dragonite started with 142 IVs, but after 6 vitamins, it reached 149. THIS is why I'm saying I think it's a glitch. and it may have used a seventh vitamin on its own, but I can't be 100% certain.

I'm actually a little confused about the random egg distribution...how does it work? Is it just random if you've been online or do you need to do something to qualify for it? Heading back to Gotham now. Only have Riddler left to do... and anyone who has played these games know how awful and tedious this bit is. >: why not just make riddler optional, rocksteady ughhh

Also, I can't stand the walking dead. Very poor writing in the first three seasons, especially when it came to the females.

I definitely got them all. Now, I'm just working on getting the Mega Stone. I seem to be good there, but there's still something like 5 days left, so I can still drop out of the running. {When I looked earlier after I played my 5 shots, I was still in the top 18,000.}

And also. To whoever {whomever?} was commenting upon having a choice for the Mystery egg, I doubt it. Especially if it IS Moltres, one of those Spanish birds. As was mentioned, uno = one, so likely Articuno, and tres = three, so likely Moltres.

To be totally honest, I'd keep looking...:/ Based on the last several weeks as evidence, I have a hunch this will end badly. 157 IVs iirc. But yeah, you're right. Common rarity + only 7k egg steps + male, I wouldn't be very confident with that. :/ It would probably need more than 160 IVs.

You're not supposed to want anything you don't want! One of the wonderful things about looking at gender outside society's narrow norms is that it's entirely up to you — you don't have to prove anything to anyone and there's no checklist you have to fulfill. You can identify as whatever you feel is most comfortable for you.

Also, the more you read up on gender theory, the more discussion you can find of less-mainstream identities and orientations that people have given names to. I decided to play Mario Galaxy 2.

I forgot how evil the purple coin stages were.
When you have to collect 100 purple coins within a time limit, dodge about 10 shadow Mario/Luigis, and have platforms that disappear after you have stepped on them, it gets very annoying. Especially when you have to go to one side of the stage to collect the coins then go all the way back to the beginning of the stage to grab the star.

One time I had collected all the coins, but I didn't know that I had to go back to the other side of the stage to grab the star, so I didn't have much of the disappearing platforms left. I ended up dying on the way to the star.


Finally beat the freaking stage, though.

Apparently "autochorissexual" is no longer politically correct. I think people replaced it with aegisexual or something... which right now only makes me think of Aegislash. AEGOsexual. Whoops. I don't remember what the source I was going to link was, though. Sort of sucks because along with demisexual, I've been sort of using autochorissexual/aegisexual as my label.

... seriously, it says you're supposed to want people to call you a different name?

If you do want to look into labels or something, http://gender.wikia.com/wiki/Gender_Wiki isn't the best place because some of the entries are based on troll posts or are different words for something else, but it's a decent place to read up on some of the common labels (agender, demigender, bi/trigender, etc) and see if you feel 'em or not

God dang it. Why'd did I have to choose to play Mario Galaxy 2? That game gets on my nerves so bad.
I got to another freaking purple coin level. Again, I had a time limit, which is something that I hate. But also, it chose to do a stage that I didn't even like BEFORE I had to collect the coins and such on it. I have to be on one of those balls that you need to balance on and has terrible controls. Not only that, but it has slides, so if I miss a purple coin on those I can't go back to freaking get it.


I'm a little ticked right now because of this game.

Also I feel you about game ticking off. The Lost Vally keeps killing my crops with storms. 2 storms in 4 days and they auto kill over half my crops each time. I swear it's doing this for me actually doing too good, I didn't have this crap on my other file...

Well, you have to take into account the fact that you can only purchase two of any summoning item at a time, as well. Plus, there's the fact that if you DO summon them, you could potentially miss grabbing them, if they don't happen to appear in your Lab before your, I'm guessing, 10 solo minutes are up and it's fair game for anyone.

I say, save up for the Darkrai. At least THAT one is added to the Party directly. No worries about losing it.

Speaking of which, I should probably use some of mine to buy a Legend Plus voucher. I still need all of the Kalos legendaries. Is there a prize point Achievement like there is the Pass Orb one?

What would I want MOST? Tiger Raikou. But it's a special explo anyways. And, if you think about it, in order for Darkrai to win out, my want for it would have to be SEVEN times the combined want of Palkia and Fake Groudon in order for me to be swayed...which it isn't...so now I need to figure out how many of each to get. Thinking 4 Palk, 3 FG, but I also got to time it when I have some Corruption Orbs from the backroom. Not too difficult a jaunt.

Lol, when you txt your manager to ask if she's still cool with you going home an hour early and she thinks it's 8 A.M.

This poor girl. She's 22 and she's at the store practically 12 hours a day. It's really bad. She's been working less opening shifts and I think it's working out a little bit better for her though, since she can actually get some sleep. I covered for her on a day I was supposed to have off for a few hours and she was late (because she was sleeping, haha), and she called the store and was like "I AM SO SORRY I JUST WOKE UP" and I went "Yeah, I knew that, that's why I was txting you." So that's why I'm going home an hour early, she felt guilty. Considering I'm opening for my store the next three days (and have to be there at 3:45 A.M.), I sure as hell am taking that extra hour.

I know. When I was younger (and not very competitive), I used to love the rainbow road stages due to their appearance.
But now I get pretty aggravated on some of them. I think it was the SNES one that I really like. I played it a lot of Mario Kart 7 and I actually enjoyed it. I got used to it, so I don't really fall off of it much. I was happy that it was added on to Mario Kart 8. Same goes for Neo Bowser City.

I think after the dlc, Mario Kart 8 has all of my favorite tracks from Mario Kart 7.

Okay. That is ironically weird.

Today at work, someone purchased a paper with a Saint Bernard on the cover, so I made a comment about it being a big and fluffy dog. And that Great Danes are big but not fluffy. Which led to a "discussion" about Scooby-Doo being a Great Dane. And of course we know Scooby talks, which in turn led to ANOTHER talking dog, Astro, from The Jetsons. And I was wondering what breed Astro was. And I said that maybe Astro was a descendant of Scooby since they could both talk.

Just now, I Googled them both and it seems people believe Astro was also a Great Dane, even if it was never specified in the series. But that's not the weird thing. What's "weird" is that they were, at one point, voiced by the same voice actor. So, it could be possible for Astro to be a descendant of Scooby after all. {Not that I expect that to ever be proved or disproved.}

But they are both Hanna-Barbera shows, so take that as you will.

Likely? Neither. There will probably be an overabundance of Deino line pokemon entered. Which means you'd need better IVs than that to place in Rank 1.

Now, if you're not attempting to get Rank 1, say, if you're trying to get the Pikachu cosplay boxes or the Achievement for entering a shiny into the weekly hunt, that's a different story. But unless you ARE going for the shiny Achievement, the higher-IVed one would be a better option, imo.

Go to your Pokedex, select the type that you want and choose Rare rarity (and check the Incomplete box). Anything there is worth a try. Dratini, Bagon, Gible and Deino are usually the most submitted in dragon type hunts. +140 IVs is enough to get rank 1 with Dratini and Bagon, a little more for Gible and +150 for Deino.

Either the Gible or Dratini lines, since they're both Rare and have 10K steps. As previously mentioned, the Deino line will likely be oversaturated, so you'd need a higher IV from them than the other rares. Goomy, at uncommon, MIGHT be a good choice, depending upon how many are entered, but you might also need a higher IV on them, as you would with Deino.

And also? Pokii [Avatar] traveled to a new region and returned from the Underground with a Archipelago Flag! Can I make it a hat trick and get three flags in a row?

EDIT - ed. And with more info than mine, too. I always forget about Bagon when I'm not seeing it in the Shelter.

To top it off, Milwaukee's transit system is on strike so I pray I don't get in any accidents heading home any of those days. The people in this Union are going on strike cause they want more bathroom breaks/part time workers to ease up overtime. It doesn't sound like money is an issue. Hell, you work 20 years and you can retire with crazy good benefits! ...but it sucks with the timing with a major festival in town. ...

On the subject of PokeHunts, ever since my 165 IV Raichu didn't get Rank 1 in the Electric-type PokeHunt I am never going to enter anything less than rare ever again.

Meh. I think Shiny Gardevoir is prettier than Shiny Mega Gardevoir, but maybe that's just me.
I got Mawilite today btw.

I love spriting. Or at least I did back when I was actively doing it. I should add more of my old ones to my splice thread to light a fire under my butt and make me do more.

Concerning the SWSH...For full effectiveness, I believe we need to sacrifice one of each.

That stage still gives me nightmares. Try to get Charizard and/or Lucario and use 4 supereffective Pokemon (no megas). That's my best tip.

That's really not good considering Mega Stones can't be sold and aren't consumed when they're used. I hope you get a new one to replace that useless extra.

Well, there are 33 Mega Pokemon currently implemented on GPX, so subtract from that however many Mega Stones you have and the result will be how many you're missing.

For example, I have 24, so since 33 - 24 = 9 that means I'm only missing 9 Mega Stones. At least until they implement the other 15...

It seems I'm just missing three mega stones... Pidgeotite and both stones for the Ralts line, I think. Or just the Gardevoir one, can't remember if the Galladite was implemented yet.

Why do I not get Mega Stone banners anymore? Apparently I got a Slowbronite, but it would be nice to know that without having to go through my (admittedly short) list of missing stones.

Only missing Gardevoirite, Pidgeotite and Sceptilite now. I wonder if I can get them before the new ones are released.

As for non-internet life, it's hot here and I'm not really interested in doing anything that requires moving. I'm also increasingly pissed because I've been trying to call someone since 11 AM (it's almost 5 PM now) and phone calls are stressful and your store is open today so answer the damn phone now. Other than that, I guess I'm fine today.

Yeah, I know the show didn't begin with Eccelson as the original doctor, which is why I added that mention in parenthesis. I've been told that Eccelson was the show's "re-boot" doctor and that to watch it from the beginning I need to find it, on Netflix, classified as "Classic Doctor Who". I wasn't sure how interested I was in seeing the original show/episodes, so I just began with Eccelson and his companion Rose. Of the 3 doctors I have seen (while I have grown fond of all of them), Eccelson remains my favorite to date. Though, I'm told, that puts me in the minority of Whovians.

I have a 143IV Garchomp for my entry. I'm hoping it can place. I was pretty confident with my hydreigon last time, but he lost. (Probably because Deino eggs seem to be common...)

I'm sure you're probably right about that; all I know is that those IVs kill anything I've run across this week. Even my current Char is almost 20 points below that, but it's the best I got. Oh, and yeah. I'll be leveling him up to his mega self which puts him in the rare category, but his IVs still reek imo.

I got rank 2 with a 164 IV Florges during the SWSH, so without everyone entering the same type, the IVs aren't too bad. Though still lower, so I don't know if it's enough for rank 1.

The problem here is that the majority of the submitted mons in this hunt are rare rarity AND need 10k egg steps to hatch. Tyrantrum is common and only needs 7k. Rare 5k mons probably need +160 IVs to get rank 1, common 7k probably needs almost 170, if not more.

My two month or so hiatus really took a toll on my collection. Or did both of my two month hiatuses happen while the Mega Stones were being given out? I can't remember anything.

I was thinking about getting a Dreidel, but I have 74 Prize Points...
I guess I'll have to wait til the Poke Hunt ends.
