Banner-wise, thanks but no thanks. I was looking for more...with borders, fancy-fonts and the like. :] Trophies are up to you...but I think we'll do medals first. I'll PM you some info with the challenges/ contests I have in mind, and maybe we could do them together. It was a basic group, basic banner. I more talented then that. I usually hand-draw banners for that matter. Sounds like a good idea. Teamwork c: -------------------- One of these days I'll get around to posting my art blog. I DON'T have a gender. It, Ze, they, or Jay(my nickname) please. |

I'd love to join! I only have one unnamed pokemon in my box, and papillon would love to be with her own kind.

Now I feel slightly stupid.
I thought that since I named my Shiny Dratini, I would be accepted. Since rule number one said, 'You must have at least one named Pokemon in your party to be accepted.' Well, I named all of them. n wn;; -------------------- |

So just to get a bit of conversation going while the Team is set up and whatnot, how exactly do you people decide on the nicknames for your Pokemon? Japanese names? Names from random shows/books/etc?
I've gone through a few different methods. First I named them simply after what their original name sounds like. Qwilk the Qwilfish, for example. Very uncreative. Then I just picked random names I thought would suit them, like Lily the Furret. And with the legendaries I picked up in the shelter drop after Star Wars characters, the Palkia I picked up are called Han and Solo, Darkrai will be Darth Vader and Giratina will be The Emperor. I dunno why xD -------------------- |

Actually, I don't think much when I name my Pokemons. I just type whichever word that comes to my mind when I'm staring at it.

No, Unmusical uses real words. She should place the definitions in her Pokes descriptions. XD
As I mentioned, I usually use the Japanese names already given to each Pokemon unless they're the same as the English version. Otherwise, I use Japanese words I take from either my knowledge or an online dictionary. Usually I put the definitions in the descriptions too. P.S. Another thing to get this thread up. We should learn each other's nicknames, or it'll be weird in the long run calling each other by their whole display name. I'll start. People out there can call me Naka for short; or Mushroom (The latter's a personal thing). Anyway, just for replies: >Torch: Relax, I know we all double-post by accident sometimes. Welcome! You've already named 22 Pokemon... O_o >Neku Sakuraba a.k.a. Rhythme: You know, I like the name 'Rhythme' better. It's all right about misreading though, sometimes I feel it's my fault for not making stuff clear enough. You're in though. Pleased to have you here! >AmethystQueen: My Butterfree would be pleased to meet more of his own kind too, the only obstacle would be to get Papillion to learn his name; Monshirochou. People on other forums simply refer to me as Gir for a nickname, for reference. :p

Mm'kay. See if anyone can guess what my name means; the definition is around me somewhere.

I used to give my pokemon fitting names like Fangsa on a poochyena but now I give names like "ILoveToFly" (No Spaces On Purpose)
Edit:When I hatch my second Magikarp it's name will be "ILoveToSplish" This post has been edited by Torch: Aug 8 2009, 08:30 AM -------------------- I joined this site on July 7th, 2009. I feel old.

You can call me Rose for short..
and as for how I name my pokes, I usually just do it by whatever comes to mind, or, if the poke is modeling a real animal (like Goldeen models a type of fish), I will google "pet fish names" and see what comes up and if I like any. That's how Chandler got his name -------------------- |

Haha. I kind of do too, it was like one of those times when you have that random urge to change your username to your current Obsession. o__o;;
I plan to change back later. xDD;; You guys can call me Neku or Rhythme. I prefer the latter...since it somewhat makes me seem more...girlish? o__o;; I abuse commas, smiles, and periods. Not that you needed to know that. As for how I nickname my pokemon. I do a little research on names (language is current obsession) then I nickname them. (Like Surskit reminds me of a water spider. I am slightly obsessed with Japan. I look up the Japanese name for Water Spider. xDD) -------------------- |

Butterfree is based on a Cabbage White Butterfly, and in Japanese, that translates to Monshirochou. XD EDIT: Anyway, I can't really tell whether you're female or male based on either Neku Sakuraba or Rhythme. Maybe you are going to be gender-confused after all. Haha! My names have come from EVERYWHERE. Fandom references, personal jokes, puns, references to the song I was listening to at the time of naming, a Eurobeat artist name generator, or some combination thereof. I can't off the top of my head think of any Pokemon of mine that got their name just because I thought the name sounded neat - they all have SOME outside connection. I think too hard about these things.
As for what to call me, it's Irk. Most people have figured that out already. -------------------- |
