I've found a thread for this already but its been locked and I don't fully understand how to use it.
From what I've read from another topic your egg has to have full maturity before you can use the flame orb. But If it is at full maturity doesn't that mean that you can hatch it normally anyways? --------------------  Clicking my eggs and pokemon will earn you clicks back  PETS (click to show)  Quizzes (click to show) |

Eggs need to exist for an hour before you can hatch them. If your egg is fully cracked but hasn't existed for an hour it wont give you the option to hatch it until it is an hour old. But if you have a flame orb then you can hatch it before it's an hour old.

Its been over an hour but I still don't have that option. In fact its been a few days now. The option to hatch it early should be in the drop down menus right?

The egg still needs to be at full maturity. The Flame Orb is only useful if you tend to hatch eggs really fast, within an hour of them being created.

It seems like the only practical use for this item is a Magikarp egg, since it's maturity is so low...

I think he just misunderstood the "can't be bought" part of the explanation text (in the update post, iirc). But it only meant those items won't ever appear in the Shop.
