"The daily server filesystem and database backup starts at 3:30 AM. At some point thereafter, the database is backed up during which it is locked, to preserve its consistency, during which the site would consequently be unaccessible." ~ from the help.
It's now 3.35am server time and it still hasn't been unaccessible to me at least. Has the time changed or did it just simply not happen today? --------------------  |

I've been getting timeouts around 4am every day instead for the past little while. I thought the time had changed, too.

I did see the "some point thereafter". Before that it happened at 3.30am server bang on in the past.
