So it looks like the 5 minute protection for summoning a legendary in the lab has gone.

Here are some examples of eggs being summoned by other people and then being adopted within the 5 minute window when the protection should have applied.

Has this been removed on purpose or is it a bug?

I'm not sure but I'd guess that the "someone else" who summoned them refers to someone other than their current owner, and all of them were adopted from the Lab and then released by Phanta, so it could just be that he also summoned all of them, and it only says "someone else" because it's no longer Phanta who owns them. I'm not aware of any intentional change to summoning.

Normally if you summon and you catch an egg yourself it just says "egg summoned" and "Egg adopted" without names.

Some examples:

Yes, but all of those Pokémon are still owned by their original summoner. What I think is that it changes to "someone else" after the original summoner releases it and someone new grabs it (as in all your original links). You would need to find a Pokémon that was grabbed by not the summoner less than 5 minutes after it was summoned, and never released.

Or instead of me going through millions of pokemon perhaps a member of staff can confirm or deny? Just want to check before summoning any more pokemon.

What Cyclone said is indeed the case. I'm currently hunting Lugia so I release any fails. Some examples of my recent summons that I obtained and then released:

I am a member of staff... When I say I'm not aware of an intentional change in summoning, I mean that we have not decided to change it. There could be a bug, but only Zerxer can look at the code and given there's no example here of summon protection actually not being in place, and plenty of counter-examples (thanks Level-X), I'm not inclined to try and get him to look. I'm in fact confident in saying you can just go summon without worrying! nod.gif
