So in an attempt to possibly stir up activity here on the music section and get closer to my fellow member, I really want to hear GTS+; what are the crowning musics of awesome, in your opinion? Just post the song and MUCH preferably a link to the song itself. I'll post my own in this post and continuously edit to update stuff I consider to be just awesome. This will help serve in not only increasing my personal repertoire of music, but also to increase yours based upon everyone's input here. After, how would you be able to stand music if you can't mix things up every so often?
The idea was inspired by a tvtropes article, but frankly I found it all to be too subjective there. Not that it won't be here, but I want to listen to some new music that could just be considered awesome, if you know what I'm saying. Furthermore, don't just list EVERY good song you think exists -- I think a LOT of songs are "good" but I want to know just what's "awesome". Believe me, I almost fell into that very trap posting here! I just want this to be different than every other thread, and differentiate it from a "list of favorite music" thread if that makes sense. If it ends up diverging into that -- then I'll simply unpin this thread. I'll sort mine by general genre, but I'll update ferociously as I think of more stuff that I simple adore musically. Rock Vehicle -- Ides of March Love Song -- The Cure as well as 311's cover Gallery Piece -- Of Montreal An Eluardian Instance -- Of Montreal In Loving Memory -- Alter Bridge Concert Band/Wind Ensemble Russian Christmas Music -- Alfred Reed The Inferno -- Robert W Smith The Ascension -- Robert W Smith Paradiso -- Robert W Smith Vesuvius -- Frank Ticheli Blue Shades -- Frank Ticheli Tempered Steel -- Charles Young Arabesque -- Samuel Hazo Video Game Crimea Marches -- Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Congregation of Ambition -- Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance DON'T BE AFRAID TO POST HERE! I WON'T JUDGE! So long as i know you aren't deliberately posting for +1s. -------------------- |

Awesome Epic Songs
Iron Maiden - Rhime Of The Ancient Mariner (So Epic It Doesn't Fit On One Youtube Video) Machine Head - Halo Metallica - Fade To Black (More Epic Live Version) Black Sabbath - War Pigs Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird (Again, Epic Liveness) Blind Guardian - Valhalla (Music Is SO Much More Epic Live) Six awesome epic songs, in my opinion anyway. Aqueous Transmission by Incubus. Not exactly one of my personal favorite songs, but it stirs up lots of emotion- either that or calms it. Usually it's a very calming song for me.
And also quite a few songs by Angels & Airwaves. I haven't listened to them lately, but their music was intended for a spacey, universe type feel and it accomplished just that. (Or, at least, their earlier music. I-Empire album I believe) One song I'd suggest from them would be "Everything's Magic". It has an upbeat sound and it's really inspirational. Also the song "A little's enough". I believe it's talking about the second coming of Christ or something, but also talking about sharing that experience with a lover... or I don't know, but I feel strongly about this song and I even sang it to my girlfriend once and it made her cry ;A; but yes, these are just a few of my suggestions... I'm not entirely sure these will fit your music tastes, but it doesn't hurt to try. I might update later with more songs as I find them again, but this is what came to mind at the moment... -------------------- Hi I love shiny giratina ~THE FAST AND THE FURRY~ I-I'm too lazy to put something here yet... But hey look it's my party and yes I drew my own avatar |

yeah, i hate angels and airwaves but the point of this topic is that you're not trying to appeal to my own music tastes or anyone else's, either. in fact, i think i'd prefer you post stuff like angels and airwaves even if i think they're shit because at least i know you're posting stuff you genuinely like and not trying to format your post to how i'd like it.

Ah, then that's good! Haha, and I understand that much. The singer's voice is one of those "acquired taste" sort of things... at least in my opinion.
Some more good music I personally love would be anything by Imogen Heap (or her band "Frou Frou") She has a sort of delicate voice that I'm not entirely sure many would like, and her songs are sort of strange (along with the music videos) but she has some really great songs... Some I would suggest would be "Must be dreaming" and "breathe in" by Frou Frou (her old band) and some of her solo songs (just Imogen Heap herself) would be "Headlock", "hide and seek", and lastly "speeding cars" Some of her songs are inspiring, some are... a bit vague, and some are downright creepy, but regardless they sound pretty nice (at least in my opinion) Another notable thing is she did a nice cover of the song "Hallelujah" -------------------- Hi I love shiny giratina ~THE FAST AND THE FURRY~ I-I'm too lazy to put something here yet... Rime of The Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden is my favorite Iron Maiden song, along with Wrathchild. Hmm...i want to post songs on here, but theres too many epic ones, and thinking of that just unmotivates me..lol..too lazy..BUT i will post this.. alright everyone, prepare for a pretty long song..probably not the longest song you have ever heard, but how does 42 minutes and 4 seconds sound? alright:) this song is called Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence by Dream Theater, but the song itself it chopped down into 8 chapters. here ya go (i hope the poster after me actually listens to it) EDIT: damn jewtube didnt have all 8 chapters..not even one actually, but i found it live:) Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - part 1 out of 4(live) Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - part 2 out of 4(live) Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - part 3 out of 4(live) Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - part 4 out of 4(live) Metallica: Fade to black (My favorite suicide song. MUST BE PLAYED AT MY FUNERAL) Metallica: The unforgiven 2 The whole St anger album (Also metallica) Metallica: Turn the Page Thanks for reminding me that they're still sell outs. why the fuck does it matter if a band sells out? unless their sound starts to outright suck (which metallica's didn't until st anger) it really shouldn't matter at all considering i don't give a shit what a band stands for while i listen to their music.
also, rise -- sam hazo sevens -- sam hazo -------------------- |

And well, it matters to me, maybe not to you, then again, you wouldn't understand, so please, don't try to understand, because you won't. Some more music: Firewind - Fire And The Fury (Amazing performance by Gus G, as always ) Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears (This is my favorite song overall, this song changed me and inspired me to play guitar, bass and drums, back when i was 10. love this song) |

i don't think your saying "you wouldn't understand" will ever help me understand, at all. it's at least worth a shot, after all, especially considering my intellectual capacity is above that of a turd.
also, i have a mars volta song on my itunes that's 31 minutes. 40+ is ridiculous... but oh well, i'm not a metalhead anymore. -------------------- |

it wasn't at all, though. i don't see why you wouldn't reply to it unless you really have no way to justify why it matters why bands sell out.
