Is it just me, or does this decoration (called a Retro Pipe) look like a Mario reference?

It looks like that in the DS games too. So it weren't the admins who possibly could put there a Mario reference, but Pokemon creators.
Maybe it looks a little like a pipe from Mario, but it's not that similar. This post has been edited by Retheba: Mar 27 2011, 02:46 PM -------------------- Are you a fan of Love Live, Cardfight!! Vanguard or Future Card Buddyfight? Feel free to talk to me about it, either on here or on my Tumblr. |

With the exception of the 5 Christmas decorations and the Jack-O-Lantern, every accessory can also be found on the Diamond, Pearl and Platinum games.
A vertical Green Pipe would add a nice touch now that you mentioned Mario. =P |

Yeah, it could be. It also appears in the DPPt dress up collection. Maybe it's just a gimmick item that Nintendo decided to put in for fun.

It's an accessory found in DPPt, not anything added by the admins.
Also certain it wasn't a reference by the creators, they've long since stopped putting references to other games. |

That looks somewhat like those sideways pipes you can walk on in the Mario games.
Also certain it wasn't a reference by the creators, they've long since stopped putting references to other games. It's a shame they did. I would have liked to see more cameos and such. -------------------- |

Both are part of Nintendo, right? So I wouldn't doubt it, it's like Spongebob's pineapple in an episode of Jimmy Neutron.

Nintendo does more than distribute Pokémon. They publish it and own it. Game Freak is the developer, but that company creates games exclusively for Nintendo, so Pokémon is still a part of them. Anyways, as said already, we didn't create those dress up items; they're part of the games themselves, therefore I feel it's necessary to either lock this or retitle it and move it to General Pokémon (I'll just do the latter). -------------------- Want a rotating avatar like mine? It's a pipe. There are a lot of those in Mario, but I doubt it's a Mario reference simply because it's not green.
I'm gonna say "yes" anyways because of what it is called. -------------------- |

'They don't put references in their games anymore'? Have you guys even played B&W yet? If you guys listened to the sound 'Thrash' makes, you'd find a very odd reference to Super Mario World.

RETRO Pipe?
Yes. Soooo obvious. Why else would they put a pipe in there? P.S. I got a kick out of that "Thrash" thing too. -------------------- |

Happy April Fools Day! I think that it is SO a reference to Mario. Retro Pipe? That's an OBVIOUS spoiler already! The shape, and the other stuff - Definitely a reference to a Mario.

It is a pipe. A normal pipe. nothing else. It might look like a Mario-pipe, but Mario-pipes is also supposed to look like normal pipes, so yeah.

Oh. It's Nintendo. Oh well, it's still a Mario reference. Cool how Nintendo puts references to their other games. :P

The fact that it is called RETRO Pipe leads me to believe that it is a reference. If it were called Blue Pipe, it wouldn't.
