I always wanted to ask this around on multiple sites..... so what is your favorite music type.
Mine are Modern Rock and Clasical
My favorite is country.
Let's see.......
I like almost any kind of Rock. And I also like Pop.
Heavy Metal and Rock.
I like bits of everything. Metal is cool as long as the singers don't shout their heads off
I love Japanese singers and music, it's so fantasy-like.
I can listen to certain rock and pop singers too and classical doesn't kill me either.
I love gosple . also hip-hop & rap
I'll listen to pretty much anything with a beat, but classic rock is my favorite. I grew up with my parents' music, although I think I ended up knowing more about it than they do. >_> I like glam metal too, but to a lesser extent.
Most types of Metal.
Classical and Jazz.
Anything with a decent beat.
Yet I mainly follow the Mainstream Pop
K-pop.
I like a fast beat. Most k-pop songs have that.
Rock, Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, and a little bit of Emo.
Heavy Metal and Metal.
Meh, My favorite style of music would be between Alternative Rock (Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin alternative, not Killers and Metro Station) to Metalcore. I somethimes delve into the land of pop(ish), as I like a lot of The Rasmus and Nine Days stuff.
I despise rave and rap. Generally, if its too mainstream, I probably wont like it.
I would have to say country and classic
Rock, Alternative, Heavy Metal, and whatever else I decide I like that's on the radio. >>'
I really love most forms of music with the exception of the extremely explicit rap song or Jazz or whatever it is that Sting plays. (I loathe Sting.)
Heavy Metal, Hip Hop (sometimes), Rock, and Alternative Metal
I like a lot of different types, but I'm really into all rock and 80's music, rave and punk and techno =D
whoa you guys attually listen to metal. Personally i think its rubbishhh.
I like Hip-Hop and R&B most and bits of Pop and Rock (Muse are awesome)
I listen to a lot of Pop. Also Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, Electro, and video game music.
Metal and it's sub-genres, thrash/groove, death, prog, etc.
Anyone can tell you my music taste is wide, varied, and unpredictable.
But overall, I probably listen to the most Rock.
- Metal and any other variation of Metal. (Mainly Alternative though)
- Rapcore
- Rock and any other variation of Rock
- Pretty much anything that doesn't make me want to puke my guts out.
- Rock
- VG
- J-Pop (oh lawd don't start me on how much i hate american pop)
- Metal (only sometimes)
It varies. Usually it's alternative, but lately, it's been Lady GaGa. (yes, she gets her own genre.)
Alternative Normally, but I can also be Brit-Pop and Rock.
For me it varies but at the moment it is mostly rock - for example rammstein!
Pop,rock,reggae,classical,Indian music
I like almost every kind. But my favourites are Gothic Rock, Gothic Metal, Punk... ^^
I love country and will listen to light pop but not much
Mostly Pop, Rock and Metal. I like a bit of classic too
J-Pop & J-Rock, love 'em ^^ I like a few anime songs too
I only listen to German polka.
I love listening to country but I allso wil listen to low key pop. "edit" oops never realized I already posted here.
Hm, guess my interests are changing. I used to love Metal/Hard Rock, but now I really enjoy Techno and just plain Rock.
Just anything based around the Rock genre, really.
Anythin with the word metal in it (Heavy Metal, Death Metal), punk rock, alternetive, rack , screamo...basically if you can mosh to it im there \m/
My favorites are Techno and Rock (J-rock, Alternative, Classic, any kind is good).
Well I like metal songs and groups and rock whenever I feel like listening to them ^^
I listen to a lot of ska and ska punk.
1. J-R&B
2. J-Pop
3. J-Rock
4. Anything in English that sounds lovely.
Definitely rock and pop. >3
So like several metal songs too though. Kinda varies, as long as it's no hiphop, rap, country or teh grunting stuffs. xD
Folk Metal!
Metal and rock, mostly the stuff from the 60s-80s.
Mainly Rap/Hip-Hop
Although I listen to mostly all genre's.
Rock and Punk. I cannot STAND pop. AT ALL.
I like pretty much any of the genres that are in the electronica genre, but I like all of the various trance genres the best. Only music I really don't like are songs that consist of people screaming or all of the rap that has lyrics on topics I don't care to hear about.
I like alternative, rock and an extremely small selection of rap hah about 4 songs I usually HATE rap as much as I HATE what is supposedly "popular" like lady gaga and that crap
edit: I can't believe I forgot the blues! hah I love that classic raw sound its awesome!
I don't know.. I look at the music that I like and it tends to be quite varied. I guess the blandest cover is "rock", but i do have a rather large collection of 80s pop music.. and i'm not sure where pop ends and rock begins, anyway. Fun Boy Three? The Teardrop Explodes? David Bowie? Bonzo Dog Band? I've not a clue what that'd all count as.
My favourite band at the moment is probably James, so.. that's.. rock, according to wikipedia, so that's nice.
So.. yeah. Most would be filed under "rock".. whether it's a bit poppish or skaish or punkish, but the compilation of songs I love does include all sorts of odds and sods. Unfortunately I'm not very good at being up-to-date with music-- BBC radio one doesn't quite appeal to me, specifically the DJs, ha-- so I very frequently fall in love with a song which was all the rage six months ago, but that everyone now hates even more than they did when it was plastered all over the airways.
Not very fond of.. drum and bass or rap or that kind of hippity hoppity music, I'm afraid. Unless it's bizarre, in which case it may well just be fantastic. Bizarre is good.
Oh, and I've rather a soft spot for European industrial metal.
nu metal,rock,indie that kiinda stuff
Hevary metal,punk rock,alt rock,rock, and J-pop.
Hard rock all teh way! :ninetails:
J-Rock, J-Pop, Gothic, Black Metal
Curtis: Dance music FTW
Metal and rock period.
Rock, pop, Bollywood, OSTs.
Steampunk, Indie, Metal/Screamo, Retro(see Black Moth Super Rainbow), Jazz, Zen, Electronic/Rave, Whatever-Pogo's-Genre-Can-Be-Called
I'll listen to rap if it's not about sex and money. Trust me, I've found a few awesome ones.
I mostly listen to classic rock, hair metal, and punk rock (preferably of the pop subgenre)
First, I must correct that title; it's music Genre, not type. I listen to Rock, Classic Rock, Punk Rock, Alternative Rock, Heavy Rock, and just about every type of rock.
About all types of Rock (Yes, Punk Rock too) and some Pop. (Well, actually jackson- Pop.)
Mostly Alternative Rock, Punk, Grunge. Although I do listen to some country.
techno! :D
Hip Hop and R&B
Pop, country and R&B.
Mainly 90's pop though. Yeah, I'm not current, me. xD
I guess I would have to say Hard Rock, to Heavy Metal, to even Power Metal.
Mine are Funk, Disco, Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, Independent Rock.
Death Metal, Viking Metal, Trance, J-Core, Gabber Style (Techno), J-Rock, Techno, Hardstyle (Techno), Piano Core, Classic (Pianos).
Modern rock, folk metal, power metal and a bit of hip-hop
Rock
Electro - Dance
I like counrty :P
Haha, I love some good jazz
80's stuff. Don't know what you guys categorize it these days.
well i would say rock is my favorite. mostly the modern kind ya know? i also like various songs from other types of music as well. however, i rarely enjoy country music and i really dont like rap songs. will smith is okay though. he earned my respeckt. X3 so um yeah. FOZZY RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!
All forms of Rock really, but I find myself liking anything that's fast and loud.
Synthpop. Specifically synthpop from the 80's. (Do they even call it synthpop anymore? I seem to remember my friend calling it electronic music or something like that, but then again she's not really that into it.)
I like rock, country, and pretty much anything else. I'm open to all types of music, even screamo and rap. Lol. I even like music from other countries.
R&B, no doubt.
metal and rock, but i prefer j-rock better :p
Metal,Most defiantly.
christian rock, though i'll pretty much listen to anything.
stoner/doom metal, brutal/tech death metal, sludge, crust, hardcore punk, powerviolence, grindcore, noise rock, prog, experimental/avant-garde, jazz, hip-hop, industrial (the noisier side of it a la einsturzende neubauten anyway, not too fond of the synthier side of the genre.)
Melodic Death Metal and Black Metal, mostly. I do like most sub-genres of Heavy Metal but I mainly like Melodeath & Black.
^man i've wanted to try getting into melodic death metal for a while but i don't know where to start. any artists or records you can recommend from the genre?
I love rock, mostly I like Guns N' Roses.
^hell yes to GnR. "appetite for destruction" is so good.
I'm, before anything, a fan of classical music -probably because I play a couple instruments myself ><;
but I also like to listen to anything that is... listen-able really. I mostly preffer metal and rock though, if nothing because they actually sound like music unlike most newer genres. That doesn't mean I don't find the work of other artists that focus on other genres impressive as well.
My favourite artist is Chopin (always) but as for more modern-age ones I like Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Wintersun, the GazettE, Akira Yamaoka, Porno Graffitti as well as some amazing Greek artists many people won't have heard of; Trifono, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Alkistis Protopsalti, Haris Alexiou...
Anything but Classical, Rap and Techno for me
Indie/Folk is how I roll now. I hear too much of about rock, so that ruined it for me..
I love listening to different music than everyone else, makes me feel different, and I like being different.
R&B, Mainstream Pop, you know, Kesha.
xD Many varieties of both Rock and Metal. I listen to everything but most Rap though. Even Opera xD.
everything pretty much. im too random, it all depends on my mood. i think the biggest no though is heavy metal. screaming doesnt really do it for me so bands like slipknot and drainage x are big NO's
Everything almost no one likes or knows about. XD
Mad Caddies, Eiffel 65, Boards of Canada, Mt Eden, probably not ringing any bells. Electronic, soft/mixed ska, and some pop.
Classic rock + Progressive rock. I absolutely hate the stuff they call "music" these days-pop, rap, etc.
Metal.
Rock, Metal (old metal and death metal, none of that new fangled stuff), and electronic.
i think i've discovered the genre i was meant for.
stoner metal. sludgy, slow, low, heavy as hell, heavy 60s/70s blues/psychedelic influences, all-around badass. and it really grooves! i dig it.
imagine jimi hendrix spliced with black sabbath, soundgarden, and even a bit of black flag, then slowed down and tuned down to like drop B. awesome stuff.
I like R&B, rap, and pop
Indie (Indie Rock, Indie Folk, Indie Pop), Alternative, Rock (Soft Rock, Pop Rock, Classical Rock), New Wave, Pop, and Electronic are all genres that I enjoy listening to.
Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, aaaand Electronic. Kinda like the person above me.
Rock, techno, and video game music remixes.
Those are my fave genres.
Soundtracks(like, video game music), and apparently, The Killers is Indie Rock, Owl City is Electronic, and Linkin Park is Alternative, according to iTunes, so those
word of advice for finding out what genre an artist is: use wikipedia or last.fm, not itunes.
itunes is just weird with genres. it lumps a lot of stuff together. it classified all of my nu-metal as "pop."
i love indie, alternative, acoustic.
mostly anything similar.. o.o;
I like listening to different types of metal and rock.
Rock and alternative. None of that rap and pop shit. Rap is always either about women, cars, money, or things the rappers do with women in cars involving money.
basically i like anything other than hard rock(like those sung by metallica)....
other than that anything goes for me......
Mainly Rock and Heavy Metal(not TOO heavy), and I love some video game sountracks too. I'll listen to just about anything though...except for most rap. And Justin Bieber.
i like rock and alternative rock
I listen to the following genres: Jazz, classic rock, slow rock, alternative rock, classical, instrumental, and a little of anything that isn't absolutely annoying.
Used to just be rock/indie rock, but now branched out into a wider range of genres, namely soul, rap and electronic/dance. Mainly attribute this to listening to Gorillaz. Really expanded my muscial tastes
do i see jazz and soul in here? winner, winner, winner. indisputably great stuff.
Rock 'n' roll
Metal
Irish punk
---
I guess symphonic metal, if that's what you'd call it.
Metal, hardcore, post-hardcore, and acoutic.
Rock and alternative. <3
My favourite music type is metal. Probably death metal and melodic death metal. Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Bloodbath, Opeth etc.
^^^Opeth KICKS ASS.
My interests have changed severely over time. I've noticed that the only genres I find interesting now are Indie, Punk, and Electronic (IDM, specifically). I've definitely fallen out of love with Metalcore, unfortunately.
To be honest, it hasn't really grabbed my attention since 2009. I started a Pandora station a few months ago to see if I was just missing some good artists or some of my favorites had made anything new, but it got boring and tiresome to listen to quickly, and I didn't find anything interesting. Most of it sounds very flat and one-dimensional now. It doesn't resonate throughout my ears and sink in deeply like the songs and artists that attracted me to it in the first place. The vocalists don't deliver their soul. They just yell for no reason. Meridional was the genre's only saving grace this year for me. If I can find more Metalcore artists that can deliver their songs as emotionally charged, melodiously drifting, and with proper bouts of punctuated raging as I used to love, I'll be glad to add the genre back into my favorites.
My favourites are Rock Pop and Jazz
http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp335/Grasaldrea/ShinyGiratinaOriginanimated.gif
Metal
Rock
Alternative <333
For me, mostly Jpop, Kpop, and Cpop. Classical is awesome as well. (':
I like alittle bit of everything. I really love Country and Christian
My favorites would have to be... Either country or pop. But only certain kinds of those two genres. There are songs/artists from both that I just can't stand.
It varies a lot for me, but generally it's usually Rock, Punk Rock, Alternative Music, etc. But as of lately I've been listening to a lot of classical music.
Varies for me a little, but usually Dubstep, remixes, Trance, Techno & Club/House. A lot. Otherwise, whatever grabs my attention & is tolerable. xD
Huge fan of metal. I've got a varied taste but most of what I listen to these days is good old metal.
Korean Pop is my favorite style of music, I love the beat and the flow of the music, and the dances are exquisite
POP music, of course
Synthpop, electronica, trip hop, shoegaze, techno... those seem to be my favorites. I also love industrial, new age, various ethnic beats, soundtracks. List goes on and on.
According to my http://www.last.fm/user/Ataromani profile: post-hardcore, rock, alternative & metalcore.
I like alternative rock, indie rock, indie pop, punk rock, and post-hardcore. I, however, cannot stand pop punk bands... They seem too pretentious to me. And also most pop songs nowadays - they make me puke.
I like a bit of everything but mostly pure guitar music.
Here's an example of one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE7eVfIAkkE
I'm pretty eclectic in that, if I like I will listen to it, pretty much.
However, I really love Celtic and Violin music~
Heavy metal, hard rock, and the like.
i can tolerate listening to alot, but really rock and metal are the only kinds of song on my MP3
I definitely enjoy rock music and foreign language music, anything really.
Except Country and Rap... I'm just tired of those. ;;
Anything made with a set of strings or a synthesizer.
pop punk/punk rock music and some electronic music
I mostly listen to rap and electronic music nowadays, but occasionally I'll listen to indie and alternative rock, like Neutral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and others.
On a side note, I don't see why so many people like metal. It all sounds like SHREDSHREDSHREDSCREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAM to me.
Nu Disco
Rock, Pop, Metal, GlamRock, KPop, JRock and JPop.
Classical music, rock and symphonic metal.
Pop, Hip-Hop, Rap, Alternative & RnB.
I love electronic and rock. There are many different sub-genres I listen to; too many for me to recall at the moment.
Black metal by far, with death metal being a close second. Some of my other favorites include post-rock, neofolk, j-pop, and martial industrial, and I've been getting into some synthwave lately.
Pretty sure I've already posted a few years ago, oh well.
I love electronic (mostly breakbeat and its subgenres; The Prodigy, Goldie, High Contrast, The Chemical Brothers) and hip-hop, favoring more experimental artists (Run the Jewels, Deltron 3030, Death Grips, etc.). Also love a good amount of alt metal (Deftones, Faith No More, Tool) and some alt/experimental rock (Radiohead, Nirvana, Swans).
Pretty much everything. From pop to rock to metal, I can tolerate anything, though I mostly listen to pop music, as that's on the radio more often ^.^
Though at the moment I mostly listen to Eurovision songs (whether they're stuck in my head or not lol), but that's because it was on TV recently (and omg Italy <3) c:
Mostly everything but especially Eurobeat <3
I also really like Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend, and 80's Rock is always a good thing.
I listen to almost everything but country or metal.
My favorite is probably like techno or chill music. QvQ Sometimes I listen to like current pop music because it's all not that bad!
I like a variety of music. Though, I mainly listen to old Country music and rock.
I tend to listen to more classic rock or punk.
Not sure about all the genres I like, I don't pay attention to them much.
But some bands/singers I like are Weezer, System of a Down, Linkin Park, The Clash, Disturbed, Sum 41, Green Day, Gob, and Dwight Yoakam.
I have a pretty varied taste, I generally say rock is my favorite though.
Rock's really good, and folk-rock as well. I'm pretty good with anything except country and really screechy dubstep (i.e. Skrillex's old stuff).
:ooooo it's so hard to choose just one!! it's an even tie between electronic and alt. rock
Indie rock and indie pop are my two favorite genres! My favorite artists/bands are Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Strfkr, St. Vincent, and Janelle Monae.
I just listen to music, I don't much care what genre it is. Though, most rap gets on my nerves.
Examples of stuff I like, 'cause everyone else seems to be doing it:
AC/DC [A few favorite songs would be "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Thunderstruck"]
Kesha ["Die Young", "Sleazy"]
Live-action musical stuff/animated musical stuff [The entire Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, "Anything You Can Do", "Aloha, E'Komo Mai" (though the Lilo and Stitch animated series isn't really a musical, I thought I'd add that in anyway), "Toxic Love"]
Shinedown ["Sin With a Grin", "Second Chance"]
Foreigner ["I Wanna Know What Love Is", "Waiting For a Girl Like You"]
Rihanna ["Only Girl (In The World)", "Shut Up and Drive"]
Mindless Self Indulgence ["Never Wanted to Dance", "Shut Me Up"]
Imagine Dragons ["Amsterdam", "Radioactive"]
I could go on forever with these examples, but I chose to stop myself from doing that.
My favorite music type is bar none, heavy metal. Specifically, Black Metal and Melodic Death Metal. I dig old school death metal, the older tech death bands, some thrash metal, and some power metal. I can also get down with old school hardcore, punk rock, classical music, blues, classic rock, and even trance EDM.
My taste in music is all over the place. I like electronic, folk rock, classical, instrumental, indie, electroswing, rock n roll, and.. A whole bunch of stuff in between.
Post-Hardcore and skate punk... Basically everything at warped. And I like a bit of rap...
Electroswing, alternative & p much anything indie as far as genres go.
My favorite bands include Mumford & Sons, Young The Giant, etc.
