I've avoided spinning the dreidel much during past events, but I've made up my mind that this time I'm going for shiny novelty voucher or bust. What's a good amount of coins to put in so I'm not losing absolutely everything in a bad spin?

Nick has said in the past that the expected value of each spin is >1, so the optimal amount of coins to put in every spin is 30 and/or your max wager. It's of course no fun to hear that or know that when Nun comes up, but if you're shooting for a big prize with a lot of coins, you probably are best off risking volatility and wagering the max each time.

Otherwise you can arbitrarily only risk half of your daily purse on early day throws when you don't have a lot of daily net coins, & only start risking 15-20+ coins once your daily net coins are above ~50 (to prevent a total wash out), only risking the max 30 when your daily net is far above 30. But I don't think risk management makes sense with this mini game especially if you're looking for the high value vouchers & can only recommend max wagers considering we have the edge, not the house.
