I came back here after a long time of doing other things, and when I went to the forums, saw the six year anniversary message. To think that 6 years ago I got on here for the first time... that blows my mind. So I wanted to have a thread to circlejerk over discuss the various changes that have taken place on GPX+.

To start this off: Back in my day, you didn't need a forum account to play on GPX+. There was this time where they decided people needed forum accounts, so they announced a couple weeks in advance that they would be releasing all the pokemon of the people w/o forum accounts to the shelter. I think that was the first time I ever saw pokemon in the shelter. They didn't split it into the eggs and pokemon then.

I bet the change was that you can't see them on berry feeder pages, so you don't see them while mass clicking.

Yes, but they don't go away now, so you'd see them when you go back to your party or elsewhere.

Anyway. I remember when I cliked individually on each party of the users who clicked me, to return the favor.
And when there was no safari zone. Still remember the Electhor I missed, a pokémon among the eggs... it was very rare at this time.

Back in my day we didn't have this newfangled Berry feeder. We fed berries by hand, and opened multiple tabs to mass-click. And summon items were hard to find. No explorations to help get them.

I remember back when Arceus thrasher (now Gambrinous Antiscian) was banned, but then unbanned when he posted his method of mass clicking. It was a lot more tedious than button-mashing the 1-5 keys, that's for sure.

Also, I remember how easily we missed treasure chests, Missingno, and Manaphy because they only stayed for one page.

EDIT: Oh yeah, back in my day, people actually cared about Slime Slugma.

Back in my day, there wasn't any sort of shop. You just had to hope you found the needed item for evolving a Pokemon. Also, there was only one Novelty.

I remember the huge drama about 1 clickers and people actually using their journals because you had to go to a user's profile to click their party (no Berry Clicker to massclick). I'm sure there's people who still use their journals obviously but journals back then were more widely read by others because it was right in your face clicking parties.

Oh man...I recently got back into this game after a long hiatus and..It's changed a lot!! I just wanted to make a thread to try and remember how the site ran when it was fairly new! I joined March 2009 which was a awhile ago so I am sure I am missing a few details to feel free to jump in!!

-There was no such thing as a berry feeder. You used linkclump and abused ctrl+tab to mass click and prayed your internet wouldn't crash when you opened up those separate tabs

-There were no explorations. Legendaries were given to random (active?) players and you prayed you were picked that month. Donators I thiiinnnk were given something automatically..?

-One of the main ways to get a novelty was to snipe it off of the shelter (and everyone and their dog wanted one GOOD LUCK)

-There was no Safari Zone. Pokemon and Eggs used to be in one place

-When One Clickers were very frowned upon (are they still?)

-When some people clicked back according to the percentage their own party was clicked

-Ditto was very, very, very hard to get. (didn't have an exploration you had to find one)

-When there wasn't an "one hour hatch" mechanism implemented yet (think perpetual +hatch)

-No pokechests, shinerecorder, vs seeker, underground, pass powers, shop, battles, trinkets, Pokewalker (BLESS THE POKEWALKER)

-I think at some point achievements were also new and not a part of the first year of the site?

The list can go on!! Feel free to add to the list if you can think of anything I missed, or correct something I didn't remember correctly. !

Mega kudos to the programmers, mods, and everyone involved with keeping this site on its feet and moving forward. Absolutely fantastic job, and I look forward to seeing what else you guys have planned!

I remember getting my first Darkrai this way. It was ridiculously exciting, because I love Darkrai!

No. With the way the site is now, it's hard to hold a grudge against anyone who one clicked you. Or to even one click at all. hah!

- Everyone's journal entry had a rant about how one-clickers were the spawn of the devil and/or the "I licked an X and now I'm Y" meme.
- To get a Ditto, you had to hang around the lab nearly 24/7 and hope that you were lucky enough to see one spawn and grab it before someone else did.
- There was a reminder from Professor Cypress to feed her party that was sometimes replaced by a sprite of her head on top of Chuck's body. It was accompanied by the message, "RAWR, I'M PROFESSOR BENCHPRESS! INTERACT WITH MY POKEMON OR I'LL INTERACT MY FIST WITH YOUR FACE!!!"
- All achievements you had were displayed with little icons. Nowadays you can only choose about 10 to show off. *old lady grumble*
- Legendary/novelty eggs were given out through events and you had to leave a slot open in your party if you were hoping to get one.

I remember join in 2011since I lost yahoo email here with first user name then I join again this year with new user and email. I been here for since 2011 long time o. And I sometimes on and off with busy and etc. Also lots change since now like adding new pokemons and etc. Good luck you guys. 😃

I personally have no idea. I think it just happened.

Some users liked to keep their favorite Pokémon in their parties 24/7. They were dressed up, had nicknames and long descriptions, and were level 100 from spending all the time in their owner's party.

A few people still do this, but the trend mostly died off because of the inconvenience of having one of your party slots semi-permanently occupied.

Back in my day, I was called Captain Epic xD That changed when I eventually made Emmagurd my online name everywhere a couple of years ago.

Also, clicking had to be done in individual tabs. And you could see the progress of eggs (like physical appearance of a half hatched egg) in the shelter! When you summoned a legendary, it was literally a free-for-all! There was none of this pass power stuff or the rule where only you can see it for the first 5 mins. Literally anyone and everyone could grab it xD

Joined in '09, and I remember when BELDUM was difficult to find. Yeah, a friggin' Beldum. And everyone would craze over Dracowymsys, and man, opening 200+ tabs to click the berries by hand. Ugh, the amount of time I wasted doing that!

Back in the day, we had SO few Novelties that were actually hard to find! I loved the challenge of trying to find the handful of them, but now there's too damn many! Dracowymzy, derp, zergoose, EB, and Slime Slugma were THE goal of novelty hunter, and as someone who is a big novelty hunter these 100 or so novelties kinda irritate me now xD

Back in my day, GPX+ had...

-no safari zone, but pokemon in the shelter, among the eggs. A few, and I wanted to adopt them all because they were so sad

-the only way to get a mew was with an egg distribution event.
-Bidofo was a pure rarity.
-I had to open 100 tabs to click and then my computer froze because it couldn't stand the loading, so I tried less, and the only way to not freeze was 15 tabs, pretty slow... xD
-egg events were at reset time
-ditto was impossible to find 8D
-5G new pokemon eggs were on the dream world, a zone next to safari and shelter, eggs were without colors, so we picked up eggs without knowing what it was.

Scavenger Hunts were introduced before Pass Powers, so there was no Influence Power for tasks that required a Pokémon with a specific nature. You either grabbed a lot of eggs and hoped one popped out with the nature you wanted, or said, "screw this, I'm out".

Haha! I see Im not the only one . I joined in April 2009, played for a while when indeed, Dracowymsy's and Dittos were rare, and hunting in the Egg Shelter was the way to get Novelties. Just reading through all the posts here made me remember the things from way back when ^^.

I recently started playing again after a friend of mine accidentally clicked the quicklink in my Firefox (said link has been there for the same 6 years) and I figured 'Oh, I might as well check it out again.'

So there is such a big load of new stuff I'm feeling a bit , but it's also really cool to see. And I like the increase in novelties too , I loved those when I played ages ago.

Onwards to exploring and learning about all the (for me) new things!

I remember the first time I saw a lot of hatched Pokemon in the shelter (when we had no safari zone) was that massive ban drop. That was super weird back then. Now we always have that many and no one cares anymore.

I remember when Arceus weren't everywhere. Seriously, it was an incredible feeling to get one. Of course, I never got one, but it's fun to dream.

Also, Megas being RIDICULOUSLY rare. Back in '14 you only had one or two, maybe 3 mega stones. I think someone was getting a bunch of Mega Charizard Ys and releasing them for everyone, like a Mega factory or something.

That said, back in my day, I had two Slime Slugmas and bred them and I felt like the coolest kid on the block for having one of five novelties as a breeding pair. And I opened everyone's eggies and Pokémon in new tabs AND I LIKED IT. (old person screams at cloud)

Remember when Professor Cypress used to breed random legendaries? I was lucky enough to snatch one from the Shelter one day - a Deoxys whose heritage page is a broken link now. Still one of my favorite Pokemon that I own.

The other thing about Lab is that if you wanted to summon a legendary you just needed to put a word 'bizzare' and you will find your egg cause it was highlighted!

Right now egg description is an image so you can't do it no more


EDIT: And that monthly distribution which was the only way to get a non-summonable legendary Pokemons! There were so many emotions during that thing haha! I remember being happy as I got my Entei back in 2010, and what's better, IT HATCHED SHINY!
