Well, let's start off as this. Which is, in your opinion, better.
STATISTICS
A Garchomp | B Salamence
HP: 108 | 95
ATK: 130 | 135
DEF: 95 | 80
SPA: 80 | 110
SPD: 85 | 80
SPE: 102 | 100
Would you rather choose:
A. Better speed, less attack
B. Slower speed, more attack
These sweeping giants have marginally separated stats, but that is all that can make a difference.
(assume all this as a neutral natures) Garchomp has faster speed, so it can KO salamence OHKO or 2HKO. But, if salamence manages to survive the hit, using Draco Meteor can possibly OHKO 'chomp giving his higher special attack.
Also, please discuss if mence or chomp should switch places in their catergories (OU, Uber).
Personally, every time I've used Garchomp against Salamence, even matching the level, Garchomp has managed to succeed, suffering heavy damage though. Garchomp is faster, so with a good placed Dragon Claw or even another move like Outrage would put Salamence down in one move, or it would possibly take it in two. Either way, because of Garchomps defence stats as well, it could stand up and defend itself against the flying dragon Salamence.
Personally, I think Salamence doesn't stand a chance against Garchomp but you never really know until you put them face to face to see who's the better dragon.
i think salamence is better
type-wise, salamence has a huge advantage over garchomp since salamence is flying and garchomp is ground. plus, i think salamence can learn much more type variated moves
Salamence. Parlty due to Aesthetic appeal to liking the more dragon-like form.either way, these pokemon anr powerhouses.
This is a bit of a toughie, seeing as both dragons are pure monsters. I'd have to side with Garchomp, seeing as Salamance's Flying Type causes it to be crippled by strong rock attacks due to its poor defenses. Plus, Sand Veil beats Intimidate every time.
Battling wise, its really tough one to call. Suppose it largelly comes down to which trainer has superior ability.
But looks wise, it has to be Salamence. Garchomp is ridiculously ugly.
ehh, not sure...
I'm going to have to go with Garchomp just because of his speed and almost always OHKO move against Mence.
I like Salamence because it's more powerful, and because he looks cooler.
I think Garchomp is better, because he resist stealth rock instead of being weak to it and is immune to the common sandstorm, I also like the fact that hes immune to twave. They are both pretty got at breaking walls, Salamence because he can go mixed and Garchomp because of sword dance. The good think about Salamance I guess is intimidate which kind of makes up for his lower defence, better mixed attacking and harder to revenge kill with Dragon dance but most team back a pokémon with a priory attack (especially Scizor). But I still think Garchomp is better overall, but I dunno if he really deserves to be Uber..
Well, I like Salamence more, but Garchomp is faster, and with a strong enough move, could probably defeat Salamence, unless there was a Focus Sash on Salamence, then it would probably be able to take down Garchomp in one hit. I'm going to go with Salamence.
I'd go with the slower but more powerful pokemon.
i like salamnce. if you give a few extra ev's in def instead of speed on mence them you can survive a hit from chomp and completely take out chomp in one hit.
If Salamence is EV trained in the right stat, then it's a complete powerhouse pokemon. However, I suppose the same could be said for Garchomp.
I'm going to have to decide on the basis that Salmence looks cooler. Garchomp scares me.
:/ I dunno...
I think Garchomp would OHKO Salamance, since it's faster, and speed can make all the difference.
Cant decide. I like them both. But I voted Salamence.
I think Garchomp. If it hits first, and OHKOs, then less attack isn't necessarily as important :P
Obviusly the winner would be Garchomp
In the battles that i have had with Salamences some are faster but with equipment a Garchomp can beat a salamence even if he gets damaged too much.
So i go for Garchomp
It's a shame Garchomp got bumped to Uber, cause I prefer him way more than Salamence. Although in a battle, Garchomp's attacking spree can but halted due to Salamence's Intimidate, unless of course Garchomp switches into Salamence.
My vote is still for Garchomp.
Garchomp doesn't have the raw attacking power of Salamence, but it's a lot more bulky and because of that, it was bumped to ubers. I'm personally against this. I've used both Garchomp and Salamence and honestly, neither seem to be much better than the other. They both have their roles and they play it nicely, but they're definitely not broken. I prefer Salamence mainly because of it starting with a base 135 Attack stat and base 110, which allows it to do plenty of mixed sweeping right when it hits the floor.
If you pit them both against each other, I'm pretty sure the faster one would win. In this case, Garchomp. One Outrage is all it takes from either side.
I'd have to give it to Salamence. Salamence has a better Attack and a much higher Special Attack (so if the player teaches moves more from the special category instead of physical, you can take a better stab at the Special Defense, which in both cases is much lower than the physical defense). Move-wise Salamence also has an advantage, as it has a broader range of elemental moves to choose from than Garchomp. Intimidate also puts Salamence up a cut higher, as both pokemon rely more on physical attacks if moves are only taken from level ups.
One of the main advantages I can see with Garchomp though is if it keeps Sandstorm, as it has a higher evasion during Sandstorm, but my vote still goes with Salamence.
Salamence. Didn't really care for the stats ether way, I much perfer the aggressive sky dragon look of Salamence as one of my faves over the still appealing landshark look of Garchomp.
Salamence would kick garchomp!! It would be close though...
How is one even supposed to decide on a choice this difficult? Both Garchomp and Salamence are complete beasts but in the end I went with Salamence due to the fact that just maybe one with EV training in DEF might be able to outlast the faster Garchomp...But meh, it could go either way in my opinion
Oh boy, that's a difficult one.
I guess I'll go for Salamence as I like Green shinings
Garchomp because I use to own with it back when it was still considered OU instead of UBER.
one on one garchomp wins against salamance...but in a team salamance is more versitile since it does have a high sp.atk along with a high atk as well but garchomp provides electric immunity which makes it easier to sub in. Both are good but i say garchomp...i prefer a pokemon with more bulk
Hmm....I'd pick Salamance.
Salamence, not because of stats or any of that. But because Salamence looks better.
Taking into account they both are x4 weakness to Ice type moves they're both even.
But Salamence can have a higher range of moves IF bred correctly.
So I chose Salamence cos it can learn Fire Moves, Water Moves, Air Moves, Dragon Moves (Duh), Ground Moves etc.
Garchomp, partially because it's very powerful, partially because I think Salamence is kinda stupid looking, but mostly because IT'S A FREAKING LAND SHARK and how is that not awesome?
Salamance is the better pokemon in this Bout
as much as i adore Salamance - i think Garchomp has the upper hand. mainly 'cause of its speed; sometimes, one hit is all you get in a battle, and first one wins.
still a difficult choice and close battle.
Garchomp would win. Salamence is out-sped by Garchomp. I haven't ran the calculations yet, so I don't know if Garchomp can land a 1hko on Salamence after factoring Intimidate.
probably salamance for looks and garchomp for battling
it a tough call, they're both 4x weak to ice, I don't really care all that much for Dragon types but if I have to choose....
-flips a coin-
Salamance
I like Garchomp more
Garchomp for both looks and stats. Honestly, how can you not like land sharks?
I really like both of them, but Garchomp takes my vote.
Salamence. Favoritest Pokemon ever.
Garchomp, I don't like Salamence
