Name: Daniel Worthington
Age: 15
Hometown: Gigarte

Appearance: Daniel is a charming young man, tall for his age and slender. He appears awkward, but he almost always has a mischievous smile on his lips. He has a head of short brown hair, which he keeps neatly brushed. His eyes are also a deep brown and his skin has a warm caramel colored complexion. Unfortunately, he is at that age where zits become a nuisance, so he usually has one or two red blemishes on his face.

Daniel is always sensibly dressed. He doesn’t like fancy clothes or shoes. Unfortunately, Daniel is colorblind, so he had a difficult time matching his clothes. As a result, he simply tries to keep all of his clothes roughly the same color (as far as he can tell). He mostly wears blue jeans with a T-shirt or hoodie. His top will usually be a dark green, a dark blue, or black. He wears a pair of running shoes almost all of the time.

Personality: Daniel often appears to be laid-back and carefree and usually he is. However, if something is bothering him, he isn’t likely to speak up. He hates to make people feel worried, especially about him. He really enjoys being around other people and is always eager to make friends. He can sometimes get in trouble by being a little too friendly, and allowing others to use him as a doormat. Daniel also really likes girls, but has no idea how to talk to them. His personality changes a lot when he is around girls, often changing from easy and outgoing to nervous and quiet. Daniel is quite intelligent, always making As and Bs while he was in school. However, he can also be very naďve since he has lived a very sheltered life. He sometimes tries too hard to impress others.

Biography: Daniel was born and raised in the underground city of Gigarte. His mother and father, Marie and Victor Worthington are both very wealthy because his father is the owner in charge of one of Gigarte’s largest construction companies. Needless to say, Daniel never had want of anything growing up. He was good at school, he played sports, and he had lots of friends. By the time he and most of his friends were 10 years old, some of them became very interested in pokemon and began venturing off on journeys once they befriended or caught their first pokemon.

While Daniel wasn’t necessarily a stranger to pokemon, he never felt especially interested in such a journey. Since the city of Gigarte is so big on keeping the environment clean and natural, the children in school were required to learn rudimentary environmental care, take nature classes, and volunteer time with the organization of one’s choice. Daniel decided to do his volunteer time at the Pokemon Center. That is where he first learned how to care for Pokemon, and how to love and respect them. It was here that he first met Hercules, his Machop. Hercules had been a wild pokemon who ended up venturing too close to a construction site and he became injured. Daniel worked with the Pokemon Center’s nurse to help heal Machop and then stayed by his side as he recovered, often bringing him snacks and playing music for him on his ipod. Daniel felt somewhat responsible for Machop’s injury since it was his father’s company that had been doing the construction. Even though the company works hard to maintain Gigarte’s standards in respecting nature, accidents could still occur. Machop grew to like Daniel very much and at the nurse’s suggestion, Daniel took Machop home to complete his recovery there.

Machop made a full recovery under Daniel’s care and was soon perfectly comfortable living with Daniel. Daniel’s parents were supportive, but there was something thoughtful in the way that they watched Daniel and Machop together. Daniel named Machop Hercules for his strength.

Having grown fond of Hercules, Daniel decided that he wanted to pursue a career in pokemon care. After school hours, he began volunteering at the Pokemon Daycare. He enjoyed this job in part because it allowed him to meet many new trainers and pokemon and also because it allowed him to bring Hercules with him to work. It was with a conversation with one of these trainers that Daniel learned what it was that he must do.

“It’s all well and good to be interested in pokemon,” the trainer told him with a smile that exuded wisdom and confidence, “but if you really want pokemon to be a part of your life, a part of your career, then the best thing to do is to leave home and explore a bit. That’s the only way that you’ll be able to really get to know your pokemon and what they can do. It’s also the only way that you’ll be able to meet many other pokemon and trainers. The more people and pokemon that you meet, the more chances you’ll have to sharpen your skills.”

It also happened that day that the owner of the Daycare approached Daniel with a Nincada, explaining that its trainer had left it and never returned. Daniel took pity on the poor insect and agreed to care for it himself. When he arrived home that day, he announced to his parents that he wanted to leave on a pokemon journey, one where he could travel and explore the world. His parents, seeing Daniel arrive home with two pokemon now, simply nodded sagely and said their goodbyes. It was as if they had been expecting it to happen and were resigned to that fate.

Now Daniel is on his own, away from his parent’s diligent care. For the first time he must earn his own way and prove himself in the world. It sounds intimidating, but Daniel is not too worried. He considers this his pokemon internship. And who knows? Maybe he’ll meet some cute girls along the way.

In game history: Daniel's debut adventure took place in Castle Vonmoto. There, he met many other pokemon trainers and even engaged in his very first pokemon battle. Everything at the party was going well until a freak avalanche occured, burying the castle and leaving the trainers to fight their way out. With the help of some friends, Daniel managed to escape through some flooded corridors and face some angry ghosts that were bent on blocking their way. Just when all of the trainers were heading to the helicopters, another avalanche occured, burying all of the trainers hopelessly under the snow and ice. It took a miracle for everyone to escape, and afterwards Daniel went back to Gigarte to recover.

Since Vonmoto, Daniel has been struggling to leave Gigarte and begin his pokemon journey. However, things just keep popping up! Daniel postponed his departure at first to help investigate some rumors of a polluted cave affecting part of his town. After discovering some dirty little secrets, he was laid up in the hospital for a period of time. Now he's been summoned by Officer Jenny to help reveal some more of the mysteries surrounding the polluted grotto.
