You can interact with people's Pokemon by going to the Users tab, then clicking the button that says "Open", next to the number 25. You can change this number to any number between 1 and 300, and you can also change the kinds of users you interact with, the number of users you interact with, etc.
To interact with their Pokemon you can click one of five berries on the Pokemons' page, or you could alternatively press 1 - 5 on your keyboard, but not on your numberpad. I hope this makes sense.  Just as a tip, I have mine as "Viewing 1,000 (who) are currently online", and I have set it to open 300 at a time, so I can get the most out of it that I can.
