Hello all!
This event has been a blast! Loved seeing the talent and imagination our wonderful members possess. Thank you so much for joining in this really fun event.
Some entries were funny! Some were absolutely gorgeous! Some were amazingly inventive. Even the entries that had similar themes were handled in different and interesting ways by our entrants. In particular, the top ten (five voted by our members and five voted by our staff) were amazing and created a bit of a difficult decision.
However, in the end, there was one design that spoke to me on a fundamental level (given my love of both Psyduck and football), so I'd like to thank trixie for submitting the winning concept:

i can't believe it, thank you! the competition was amazing, there are so many talented people on this site, and so many great ideas came out from this.
most of all, just, thank you to Darth Krytie, who does so much for the site, and it just an awesome person. i was glad to just participate in 'making you' a pokemon.
i'm glad there are still surprises in store, too. thank you once again!!!!!

The Platypus was one of my personal favorites so I'm glad to hear that the designer of it will also get a surprise

I was super shocked when I came back after voting and saw mine was in the top 10, thank you so much. :>
I'm really happy that y'all liked my design, it was fun learning about the Pokemon and Chinese mythology surrounding it.
Can't wait to see our little football player onsite.

I'm super glad to have been in the top ten! I was super scared to see the platypus design going so far XD (I had a concept legit identical and scrapped it thinking "NAH no one would like that! its dumb" and the egg was on my face hard XD) As for the other milk shake I'm sorry Mr Spaz!!! don't be salty! I didnt want to give away being in the top ten so I couldnt say sorry sooner!!!!
Congrats to Trixie!!! I'm glad your design won. though I didnt vote for it, hearing the reason it won makes much more sense for it to become the novaltie of Darth Krytie! Because all the admin novelties have a little of each one! and its awesome~~~

It was really fun being able to see all the designs people came up with for the contest. My favorites were Sundae Altaria, Cosmic Altaria (constellation neck), Simock, Rainy Altaria, Messenger Altaria, and a bunch of the storm Altaria concepts.
Can't wait to see what the prizes will be!

Yeah. Sorry I despise the New England Patriots. Any other NFL team. ANY. Hell a college team or a made up one, but not New England.
I can't stand them. I really can't. Belichick is a cheating, lying pos and Tom Brady's as personable as a telephone pole.
And no I'm not a Colts fan either because I'm a Seahawks through and through. Beliechick is gross, knew about him back in his days coaching up and down the Midwest. Pos all the way.
I was hoping PlatyPsyduck cause it was neutral and cute as a button.

I had fun organizing it, too. I'd never done a thing like this on the site.
I intend to do more events like this in the future. ^^

Congratulations trixie!!! I'm so looking forward to seeing the new novelty Pokemon, Psygronk, available on the site. That's totally awesome that you'll be getting the first shiny of it. Well deserved and earned for sure!
I also want to, again, congratulate all the top 10 entries. This was definitely a tough competition and you all earned those two fabulous prizes! A heart voucher and a shiny leg voucher! Dang!! Sweet!! Kudos!!!
I feel like I can name my top two concepts now and would like to acknowledge Rabies Girl for the cute Vanillishake design. I just adored how it was a milkshake and yet, you had the faces in the glass. It was great! You should be real proud of that design.
Secondly, I want to acknowledge festivalfriday. I really, really, really loved the Sundae Altaria from the first time I saw it on through. What a beautiful drawing and unique (so I thought) concept. It was absolutely precious and adorable! Great job!
As a special mention, I wanted to offer two final shout outs to An Elric Brother for the Simock concept. What a unique compilation! That was so freaking out there it was awesome! Also, to Laikari for the gorgeous Cosmic Altaria drawings. Those two were so beautiful!
In closing, I want to say how I thought all the designs were incredible and I was green with envy as I have no artistic drawing concepts whatsoever. You all are amazing and so deserve these fantastic prizes. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your talent with us!

My concept was Celebrataria. I misunderstood the rules and posted about it in the community thread (edited my post later) after I failed to pass round 1, so some people might know that already.
Oh yeah, my favorites from the top 10 were Platypus Psyduck and Vanillishake!

Firstly, I want to say another thank you to Trixie for creating such a great novelty to me. I want to also thank everyone who participated. There were a lot of amazing submissions.
Secondly, I want to say while it's fine to discuss what you both liked and didn't in a respectful manner, please keep in mind to not be rude to the person who won.
Thirdly, I want to state that the Psygronk that will be on the site won't be representing any specific football team, but will have some colours I like as well as my year of birth as a number.
I'm aware that discussing sports teams can get pretty heated, but can be done respectfully and without being rude. After all, Raven and I still remain friends after all these years and we discuss football a lot.
Anyhow, we hope you enjoy the fruits of Nom's labour when you see it!

I just, wow! I never expected to make it past the first round, let alone to the top 10! Thank you all so much!
I wanted to do something unique in that instead of it being just a recolor or a small edit, I wanted a whole different side of the Pokemon. Based off two birds from different mythologies, the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roc_(mythology) and the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simurgh (hence it's name) Simock was a spur-of-the-moment creation. Some alternate names I had been tossing around were Simoc/k, Rocurgh, Somorgh, Alturgh, Roctaria, and Mythological Altaria.
The Fake Pokedex entry I had given it is:
Simock is an extremely rare variant of Altaria. These Pokemon are huge, carnivorous, and beautiful solitary birds who will prey on any Pokemon who are unfortunate to stray into their immense territory.
The two suggested typings came about because I wanted to keep Altaria's Flying/Dragon type, but I also thought the design and Pokedex Entry was quite Dragon-like with elements of Fae. (Plus the Blue/Pink/Purple coloration is very Fairy-type-esque if you ask me.)
The shiny was, for the most part, just a palette swap with some edits to better bring the colors together and make it work. I, originally, was just going to switch the Blue and the Pink and call it a day, but that felt lazy to me, and so I decided to go with the opposite color-scheme of Blue/Pink/Purple: Yellow/Blue/Green. If I were to give it a different shiny color-scheme, I'd 100% go for just shades of purples or pinks, as a kind of Mono-chromatic color-scheme.

Onto my favorite designs from the contest! I honestly LOVED bubble-altaria, and thought the concept was extremely cute. I also loved all the galaxy/spaced-themed altaria entries, and not because I am obsessed with space.
I also really liked the Platypus-Psyduck entry!
And while I'm not a huge fan of Vanilluxe, I think all the Neapolitan ice cream ideas were really cute!

@An Elric Brother: I'm kinda glad you went with the portmanteau rather than mythological altaria for the name haha. More unique.
I still think GPX should have a multiple flavor Vanilluxes/shakes next summer or something.

It was a quick piece I put together in about an hour from sketch to finish. I know the concept wasn't that great and there was a bit of hate towards it, but I'm not very good at coming up with creative things anyway. I definitely didn't expect there to be so many similar ones.And congrats to Trixie for the winning entry~

Ooh, I am glad to hear that it'll be a neutral team because I am also anti-Pats :P I do like the idea (especially as a nonexisting NFL team) though and there were a lot of really neat things this whole contest!

I think you took what I said the wrong way. I wasn't talking about my opinion of dislike of NEP but actual legal matters with the name Gronk. Save for that one joke to Kat, I was merely all talking about the legality of how the NFL is about their stuff.
The NFL is notorious about their trademarks and same with teams/players historically speaking. Doesn't matter the team. Yes I understand that GPX is skirting with Pokemon but Nintendo isn't nearly as lawyer happy as the NFL organization in general.
I worked for the online department for a nonprofit that sold donated items many, many years ago and we got handmade items with NFL stuff on them donated to us. We got a cease and desist letter even though it was just a handmade item.
The teams and NFL as a whole are particular about things and I'm saying this at a subject legal level, not out of my opinion of the NEP.
According to a legal lawsuit:
Gronk Nation LLC v Sully Tees LLC
The assignee of the trademark “Gronk,” the nickname of New England Patriots Tight-End Rob Gronkowski, “Get Gronk’d,” and “Gronk Nation” filed an infringement action against Sully’s Tees, LLC, a t-shirt seller that was selling shirts bearing the term “Gronk.” Gronk Nation, LLC alleged unfair trade practices, trade name and trademark infringement, trade name and trademark dilution, and misappropriation and unauthorized use of name, portrait, or picture. The District Court ruled for Gronk Nation.
Anything NFL related catches their eye faster than a silent and deadly fart in an air tight room. That's all.
Nothing more, nothing less. I'm talking about this in a strictly legal fashion. Not my personal opinion of the team.
This is the NFL and all teams in general.

Nick thought I was continuing my previous opinion, which I wasn't really save for that joke and leaving it at that. Part 2 was legal stuff. Sports teams and organizations and how they handle their trademarks is vastly different (as in universes apart) than how Nintendo feels and handles theirs. I would have said the same thing about the name if the concept was Seahawks based and the name was PsyBeastMode for example.
The sports industry as a whole is very very very very particular about any small slippage of their use. So I'm not talking out of my butt on this. People don't touch sports teams/names/nicknames and logos with a 10 ft pole for a reason. They're that stringent about their trademarks and the industry is incredibly notorious for being unforgiving in that regard. My workplace didn't know that at the time. It was just a few small minor items made by someone. Nothing that would put even a dent on their overall franchise money making power.
For example NCAA has March Madness trademarked. Super Bowl is another trademarked name. Using it for marketing will get you in trouble hence why ads use the term 'big game' or the countdown to March instead. Unless you're news/press, both organizations will not allow the use of their terms. Even a parody of a name can get you in trouble in sports. Even the Olympics is sue happy.

I think the surprise would be something else. I think the 2 cosmics would conflict. Nice idea though, who knows if something may come out of it in the future. There's gen 8 and the novelty potential for Let's Play to also keep in mind as well. The spriters are gonna have their hands full. Plus we haven't seen all the ultra beasts on site either.

I am legit absolutely content with the shiny legend voucher. My fave legend is shiny mew and having to wait for the month I can try for it...and maybe get a shiny (most likely not) was painful... I entered just about every contest since the site opened (er a couple months after it opened anyway) hoping to get a shiny legend voucher ;A; (not even wanting first place for arceus in some of the early contests before you could do the exploration) I can't imagine getting anything else from this, but will gladly accept it X3
I completely forgot to say thank you to everyone who voted for my design! I was actually hoping if I lost it would be to the bubble Altaria who was super cute and I voted for every time XD

So do the five of us who got into the finals but not top 10 not get any kind of extra prize? That's.... a bit disappointing, to say the least. Especially considering the top 10 are getting something extra too. But maybe I'm just being salty

Note: Before Nick thinks I'm being a salty crab. I'm not. This is just an explanation on how the contest breakdown was played out. Idgaf about the prizes. I like my Eevee, though she's a pain to breed. :P
The voting was for top 5 popular vote and the others top 5 staff pick (You see some entries in there that didn't make popular vote semi-finals for example). Meaning all the other semi-finalists winning popular vote up to that point doesn't hold bearing. It's a weird system breakdown from the typical ones you'll see in normal contests. There were 15 semi-finalists. So it'd be 7 semi-finalists that didn't make the cut for popular or staff and are treated as regular entries that didn't make the 1st or 2nd round of the popular voting rounds to begin with.

The start of the contest did say that only the Top 5 popular and Staff picks would be in the consideration for a novelty at DK's choice. That was pretty much it. As for prizes, that's up to the staff discretion. If they wanna throw in another surprise to the 'top 10' according to the current system then so be it.

If it doesn't blow any super secret surprise, can one of the top 10 winners tell us about this Heart Voucher? Like... what does it do? I see someone got a shiny Eevee heart... but what does that mean?
As for the sports angle I really don't have a dog in many sports' battles. I like what DK said the Psygronk would be dressed as and I think that's cool! I don't know what NEP is but it sounds like trixie added that personal touch to the Psyduck novelty to score the goal. I'm just looking forward to its release and, if it comes as a SWSH prize... I'm in jeopardy of a fumble for sure. 
Get it? Fumble? 'K. I'll stop. I think I'm just cracking myself up. 
In any event... I told my youngest about this contest and I told her that I'm going to FORCE her return to GPX for the next novelty / drawing contest. She was also very impressed with many of the submissions. So whatever that 3rd prize is that you all get... enjoy and relish it. (If I haven't said this before...) you've all earned and deserve it!

As for the sports angle I really don't have a dog in many sports' battles. I like what DK said the Psygronk would be dressed as and I think that's cool! I don't know what NEP is but it sounds like trixie added that personal touch to the Psyduck novelty to score the goal. I'm just looking forward to its release and, if it comes as a SWSH prize... I'm in jeopardy of a fumble for sure.
Get it? Fumble? 'K. I'll stop. I think I'm just cracking myself up. In any event... I told my youngest about this contest and I told her that I'm going to FORCE her return to GPX for the next novelty / drawing contest. She was also very impressed with many of the submissions. So whatever that 3rd prize is that you all get... enjoy and relish it. (If I haven't said this before...) you've all earned and deserve it!

99 percent of novelties are neutral. This one was being specifically designed to be an avatar for me as Zergoose was for Nick, Bidofo was for Jeff and DracoWymsy was for Wymsy. That is why it wasn't just some random novelty and one that represented me.

I think they (Mamanator) meant about neutral- was in reference with the rest of the world not knowing anything about American Football.
It's a sport that's very isolated to a couple countries at best US/Canada (2nd tier amateur teams). China's flirting with it but ultimately won't make the dive into the sport because it disadvantages them despite the NFL's attempts at trying.
Generally if it's not a regular sport seen in the Olympics then it's biased only to a specific country or set of countries. It's like making a rugby reference in the US, which American's won't have a foggiest clue what the sport is for example. Rugby for example stopped showcasing in 1924 and only briefly made a Summer 2016 Olympics reappearance. American Football won't because not enough countries have teams established, not that they will, when Football (Soccer) is the invested sport. Hence the World Cup for soccer and not American Football, ect.
Now Soccer/Football as the rest of the world calls it is a 'neutral' sport because everybody knows what it is and everybody has established teams that participate in the World Cup. And everybody knows what it is even if they're not sports fan.
GPX has players all over the globe and the majority of them may understand English, but that doesn't mean that they'll understand anything about American Football so any reference to that goes completely over their heads. Hence the view of the novelty as being biased since only US/Canadians and those who are intimately knowledgeable about US culture and American Football would understand it.

I really like Psygronk! It makes me imagine a psyduck wandered its way into that stadium in Black/White and dressed up like the linebacker trainers.
Also I never thought the SWSH theme would be connected to this contest, but its really clever how you all did that, i love the little graphic you made.

That's quite an overly long and condescending response you've got there, you are really on a roll in this thread.
First of all, it wasn't Mamanator, and second of all, I am 1,000% sure that DK understands American Football is, well, American. Her reply simply explained why it wasn't neutral, because it's her personal novelty, otherwise we might not have done something like this.
I don't know how this could have gone over your head enough to write as much as you did trying to teach an admin how her users aren't all from the US or give a lesson on her favorite sport.

I saw one of the Kryduck eggs today in the Shelter! I didn't adopt it, and was just looking out of curiosity after their release had been confirmed. I have to admit I love the whole sports theme idea, I couldn't have thought of a better egg design myself.
I won't give spoilers as to what it looks like, but you'll definitely know if you have one!
I hope the egg I saw went to a good home, it may well be the first Kryduck on the site!
It's unlikely I'll ever get one myself as I take all of my Pokémon from the Lab (where novelties aren't obtainable) - but I know very little about the evolution line, I have my fingers crossed that you can evolve a Psyduck into Kryduck somehow, as they are aren't too tricky to find in there.
