Jay was running full pelt through the growing darkness. The ground was wet from rain earlier that day, but he knew that had been just the beginning. Life on the streets had taught him to pay attention to the clouds. When the previous shower had woken him from his sleep, he'd noted they looked much too ominous for the minor downpour. He looked up for a brief moment and noted that it was much darker than it should have been at that time; the clouds had decided to stay.

Jay heard a distant rumble of thunder as he turned a corner. This final warning from the sky got him running with renewed speed. He needed shelter, and he knew where to find it. Every step he took brought him closer to his sanctuary, and every second brought the storm closer to unleashing its untamed fury. Allowing his feet to guide him to his destination, Jay simply focused on keeping his pace.

The storm let loose just as Jay closed the door. It was large, about a kilometre long and half that wide, and consisted of a single concrete room. There was no light source, making it hard to see, but Jay was used to moving around in darkness so it didn’t bother him much. There were also many pillars and empty crates scattered around the building. Jay couldn’t help but think that it would be a great place for a game of hide and seek.

After he regained his breath, Jay moved to a small fortress of crates he’d formed during an earlier visit to the building. He wasn’t entirely sure why he’d felt compelled to build it, but he had. He pulled out some non-perishable food items he’d hidden there earlier. He was about to dig into a makeshift breakfast when he remembered that he hadn’t let his pokemon out yet. He grabbed three red and white balls and threw them, causing them to release their contents.

First emerged his sneasel. At first, she seemed rather eager, but upon noticing that they were not in the streets she instantly became dispirited. She grabbed some food and shuffled off to one of the corners of the fortress to pout. She wasn’t the kind of pokemon to sit around for a night, but Jay knew from experience that she’d be even less happy if he’d stayed outside in the storm.

Then came Trapinch. The laid back pokemon was ecstatic, but he didn’t show it much. He hated life on the streets, and tonight was one of the few times he could escape that. He ravenously started to eat before lying down and falling asleep.

Finally, Bwoop emerged. Like always, the misdreavus didn’t show any emotion, but Jay got the feeling that she liked this place as much as Trapinch. She didn’t take anything to eat, but instead floated off into the darkness. Chances were that she wanted to try and find someone else taking shelter from the storm and do what misdreavus do best; scare them.

Jay smiled, they were all so different, but somehow they managed to get along. He imitated Trapinch, taking some food before taking the chance to relax for the night.

"Agh!" Miles yelped in suprise, as he was pelted with raindrops that came down like bullets. The stinging sensation was nothing new, they had been having alot of storms lately. Miles took off at full speed towards the general direction of his grandmothers, but was eventually slowed down by his waterlogged clothing and huge puddles forming in the middle of the grimy roads.

Miles quickly trurned around, hoping to find an alternate route, but to no avail; he was stuck in the middle of the road until he had the energy to keep moving. after standing in the soggy, wet darkness that had overcome the city since the sunset for a quick rest, Miles grabbed Mel's pokeball and tossed it out into the murky waters. Mel loved swimming, and besides that, Miles was hoping Mel could help find a detour.

"Pom!" Mel jauntily as he did a breast stroke in the deep puddle.

"Mel! I need your help finding a place to dry off!" Miles yelled over the roar of the pounding rain.
Mel didn't respond, but quickly jumped out of the water on the other side, and dissapeared around a corner, reappearing a few minutes later.

"Aii! Aii!" Mel screeched, pointing around the building he dissapeared behind.

"well, I can't get any wetter..." Miles grimaced, as he jumped into what he thought was a fairly shallow puddle

he sank like a rock to the bottom before being able to push off, and start swimming to the other side. He pulled himself up onto the bank and rested a few seconds before Mel brabbed his sleeve, screeching some more and pointing at the building, forcing Miles to get up from his rest point and break out at a brisk job the 50 or so meters to the building's doorway.

this place was huge, it seemed to be a warehouse of sorts that might have been abandoned. Every five feet or so he would run smack dab into a pillar, or trip over a wooden crate. he tried to maintain quiet, but this place was so big that every little noise made an echo that sounded like a gunshot. eventually, he found a nice corner that had some sort of material laid down, like some one was here previously. it didn't matter to him, he was just going to get dry and leave. but as he and Mel sat down, they started to drift off into unconsciousness until....

"DREAVUS!" A high pitched shrill pierced the quiet, moist air, causing Miles and Mel to jump up in fright.

"wh...who is there?" Miles yelled, frightened.

Something in the corner of his eye caught Mile's attention. it was a small object, floating around in the darkness... he couldn't make out what it was, but it was moving away from him at a fast pace. Miles ran towards the object as fast as he could (which still wasn't that fast) and caught up to the object, which seemed to dissapear behind what looked like a fortress made of crates...

The rain slammed its way down to the ground violently. This wasn't much fun for anybody walking down the precipitated roads. Not much fun for anyone else, mind. And certainly not fun for Amber, who was sitting underneath the shelter of an apparently abandoned mansion, where the noise of the rain was deafening as it hit the roof. And the fact that she'd been there for the day didn't help. She was bored, wet, cold and irritated. That last one doesn't mean that much. There's not really a time when Amber's not irritated, whether it be because of some person, herself or noise. Right then, it was all three. Some idiot had gone and trod on her fingers as he dashed into the large house; she was mad at herself for even wanting to stay underneath that house and the pitter-pattering of the rain was making her eardrums throb.

A loud screech filled the air. An odd ghostly shape appeared and cackled, but Amber took no notice. She knew what it was and what it was doing. A Misdreavus trying to scare her. More like she was going to scare the stupid Misdreavus. Only her own Misdreavus was any good. The ghost gave a wail that would scare a Spiritomb, but apparently not Amber. At its fail, the Misdreavus flew right into her face and shrieked like a person being shot.

"Push off," Amber said irritably. Then she kicked out at the troublesome thing and it melted away into the air, cackling, off to haunt someone else. Then, not wanting to have any more time wasted on silly ghosts, Amber stood up and entered the building she had been sitting outside of for so long. She didn't know why she hadn't done it sooner, because it was obviously more sensible than sitting around in the cold and wet.

"Whatever," she thought. "The point is I'm actually not being stupid anymore by staying outside and I'm away from that damned din."

However, things weren't really going to go as Amber thought...

The Team of Rock

Finally the clouds gave way with a crash of thunder. This moment had been looming for a long time now. The rain fell to the earth slamming the hard, concrete sidewalk. Harper looked at her Growlithe, he cowered from the thunder, ears back and tail between his legs. The water soaked into his fur. All this in contrast to her Dratini which seemed to be enjoying herself thoroughly, its body flowed gracefully as it moved along the path. Harper had set off that morning thinking about how nice the day would be, the sky had been crystal clear, not a cloud in the sky. A small drizzle had started earlier, but it had ended as soon as it came. She knew it couldn’t have been over, but she hadn’t expected this.

“Danny,” she spoke to the plucky, little Growlithe, “wanna join Tuck?” She pointed at a pokeball at her waist. The Growlithe nodded in agreement. Harper recalled the soaked little thing. She knew she needn’t bother asking Dratini the same question, she knew the answer. Harper’s clothes were beginning to drip, she needed to find shelter soon.

Harper ran with no direction, looking for any open door, she had been staying in the pokemon centre, but that was on the other side of town. She needed to find some shelter soon. Door after door, nothing was open in a city like this. She ran for five minutes until she came to a door slighlty ajar, Harper looked down and saw muddy footprints leading their way inside, someone was inside. She felt uneasy entering, but what choice did she have.

Finally, she walked inside, the little Dratini followed closely behind. There was no light, it was a little hard to make out, but it looked like she was in a large Magma storage facility, there were steel shelves with large wooden crates on them as far as the eye could see, which in the light wasn’t very far. The crates were all branded with the same insignia, the Magma insignia.

‘Ugh, Team Magma’, she thought to herself, they made her sick. When she thought about it, this wasn’t where she had expected to end up when she had set off that morning, she had wanted to contact Team Aqua and join up, but obviously, with Magma in control Aqua kept a low profile, making it hard for her to even find them.

Just then she heard a ghostly holler of what sounded like a Misdreavous. It sent chills down her spine, but she thought she’d better not show her fear in front of Dratini.

‘CRASH’, a loud sound echoed through the room, as Dratini knocked over one of the crates, food, water and supplies galore fell all over the floor. She couldn’t help feeling that someone, or something had heard her and was getting closer...

Sweet Nightmares

Boom, crash, boom. The thunder overhead rang in her ears and Hailey tried to find a safe place for now, maybe she shouldn’t have gone out today like her Grandmother told her. She was soaking wet now, and Hailey just couldn’t find a place to stay till the rain blew over. Unlike Hailey, her Croagunk, Dart, seemed to be the only one enjoying this rain.

“Come on Dart, now isn’t the time to be playing around in the rain.” Hailey told her Croagunk as they ran down the street. Her Combee buzzed in agreement, she didn’t want her wings to get wet in this pounding rain.

“Murkrow!” Dracula shouted fly toward an open door. There was an old run down building, probably a storing space when it was still new. It was the only place Hailey could go for now, since her Grandma Pearl’s house was on the other side of town. Quickly, she ran inside of the old building and made sure all three of her pokemon made it inside. There where muddy footprints leading into the building, although she didn’t know where they lead to since it was to dark to see in the building.

“Dart, Dracula, Honey, stay close and do not go wondering off.” Hailey whispered to her pokemon as a bone-shilling screech ran through the building that made a chill go down Hailey’s spine. A Misdreavus gave out that call, Hailey knew for sure. Besides, old buildings are mostly places where you would fine one anyway.

‘CRASH’, a loud crash could be heard through out the building, and it sounded close. Mentioning for her pokemon to come, Hailey and the three of them crept slowly toward the noise…

The rain was more of a blessing for some. Vale kept his head down and moved quickly down the alley, keeping as dry as he could with the heavy rain pounding down on his fedora and back. Any normal person would move quickly in the rain so he needn't look suspicious as he removed himself from the scene of the crime quickly. Normally he wouldn't need to vacate with any sort of haste, he liked to consider himself, if nothing else, a competent thief. Chance, luck, fate, whatever you want to call it, hadn't been on his side tonight though and the loud claps of thunder made it hard to make out just what was being yelled behind him. At this point he didn't know if he had been seen or if they had just heard him leaving. It was fortunate that he had been on his way out when they showed up, else he'd have been in a stickier situation.

"Lier?" He hissed quietly without breaking stride, wondering where his Sneasal had made off to during the commotion. He was answered shortly as the dark creature jumped out ahead of him, waving a wallet between the claws of one of it's hands. He'd really need to remind that pokémon that there was a right and a wrong time to pick pocket people.

"Come on, we need to find a place to lay low." He continued as he shifted his head up to glance around at his surroundings, there had to be something he could use, somewhere he could stay out of site for a while. It was already getting dark if he could find somewhere to stay for the night as well it'd be a bonus at this point.

"Sneas, Sneasel!" Lier called as he went bounding up to a doorway on the wall of what appeared to be an old warehouse of some kind, it looked abandoned or at least a warehouse didn't normally contain a lot of people anyway so it should be a good place to hide out. Now there was just the issue of the door. Lier moved out of the way to give Vale enough room to check it but, surprisingly, it opened with a little force.

Vale froze for a moment, considering what it meant but given how the interior was pitch black and that he was running out of time to decide he entered the building, closing the door quietly after Lier had slipped in behind him. No sooner than he had closed the door, a loud crash resounded through the building. Vale paused again, listening closely. Either something had fallen or the place wasn't as deserted as he thought, either way anyone in here wasn't looking for him so he'd rather take his chances. Reaching out a hand in the darkness he waited for Lier to hand over the wallet he'd taken which was quickly pocketed. With the wallet safely tucked away he began to advance into the darkness carefully, making his way towards whatever it was that had crashed.

Lier moved forward in front of his trainer, jumping up on boxes to gain a height advantage, managing the feat surprisingly quietly thanks to the great deal of practice he'd had at needing to move with as little noise as possible. Lier ended up a fair ways in front of Vale quite quickly, not having to move around the various boxes and crates like his trainer. It wasn't too long before he came upon the Dratini that looked to be the cause of the crash and another human. Easy pickings he thought as he remained perched on a crate, watching the two from the shadows.

“Geez, if anyone’s in here they definitely heard that.” Harper sort of spoke to the Dratini, but really was talking to herself.

“Man, I’m going crazy; I’m even talking to myself.”, again speaking to nobody but herself.

She shuffled round through all the supplies and found a bit of “PokeBitz”, ‘Growlithe will love these!’ she thought to herself, she continued searching through the things on the floor and found two bottles of water, a flash light and some rope.

“Dang, I was hoping for night-vision goggles.” Harper spoke in a sarcastic voice.

Dratini was still cowering from the crate that she had knocked over.

“It’s okay, seriously, its fine.”

The Dratini came out looking pretty happy, glad that her trainer had forgiven her, even if Harper was never angry. Harper finally remembered to let Growlithe out. She took a pokeball from her belt and pressed the button on the front of it, a flash of light burst from the pokeball like lightning from a cloud and a plucky, little Growlithe materialized.

“Growl!” He was obviously happy to get out, he never liked his pokeball much.

“I suppose I should let Cyndaquil out.”

Harper grabbed another pokeball from her belt and clicked its button, another eflash of light and there stood a Cyndaquil.

“Quiiil!”

Harper never let Cyndaquil out much, they didn’t have the closest relationship, the two had never grown close, they’d been together for years, but Cyndaquil had been so attached to her brother, still, she loved him and he’d helped her out of a few tough situations. She took out a few batteries, she always carried a few spares for her PokeTech and put them in her new flash light. She put the flash light on the ground and lay on the floor. She tried to fall asleep, but couldn’t shake the feeling she was being watched...

A crash flooded the silent, stale air of the mansion, followed by the sound of a series of various objects clattering to the floor. The echoes rang again and again. Amber crept towards the source of the noise; frightened but not showing it. The noise could be anything, and if it was something she wanted to know she was going to know it, scared or not. Suddenly, someone - or something - ran in front of her. It took all of Amber's conscience not to scream.

"Jesus, is today 'Freak Out Amber Kristie Day'? First a ghost, then a crash so loud that people 500 miles away could have heard it, and now some shadow running right in front of me." Amber rolled her eyes. "Well, sorry people, no one scares me."

Even so, Amber kept precautions. She crept silently through the dark corridors with no more echoes to guide her. After bumping into 3 dead-ends, she got frustrated and started kicking the wall, which crumbled. Then she thought, "I'm being childish," and stopped.

"Maybe I would be a bit less infuriated if I could see where I was going. Why am I being so stupid today?" Amber said as if stating the obvious to herself.

Growlithe bounded out of the small ball in which it had spent the last 24 hours and more. It barked loudly and Amber kicked it gently to stop it. It looked at her reproachfully.

"Shut up! I'm not sure we're welcome here and there's been a lot of commotion. So just stay quiet and give us some light," Amber ordered.

Amber reached out of a grimy window that looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a decade to grab a stick from a nearby tree. She was halfway out the window before she could reach. Then she came back, her hand dirty but nevertheless holding a stick. It was damp, but it couldn't be helped and Growlithe set it ablaze all the same. The glow from the ember was enough to see down the hallways. Amber was content.

Suddenly, Growlithe's stroll turned to a run. It bounded down a corridor and Amber hissed at it to come back. It took no notice and ran on, eventually jumping right into a room. The sound of a collapsing box was heard, but it wasn't hilariously loud like the first one. Amber had no choice but to follow the dog.

"You idiot Growlithe!" she whispered irritably to it when she caught up. She stopped to look at the room. A split crate was laying on the floor, its contents spread all over. More crates were around, but they were just cracked. The room was large, and Amber had the impression that she wasn't alone in it. Remembering the shadow thing running in front of her, she shuddered and darted behind a crate, just in time to see something stirring...

Vale maintained his slow pace while moving through the building after Lier. He still wasn't adjusted to the dark, though it may well be dark enough that he wouldn't be able to, so he took every care to feel where he was moving first. He didn't need to add to the crashing noise until he knew just what was in here with him. If nothing else the lack of lights meant that he wasn't being followed by any law enforcement so he could rest a little easier. It would be nice to know where Lier had gone off to though, the sneasel having quickly disappeared from his sight.

After a couple minutes of making his way through the darkness, Vale decided it would be wise to make up for his currently lost companion with another. Reaching to his pokéball belt he picked off one of the balls and crouched down. Placing the ball on the floor he activated it, cracking it open to release another of his companions. The small yellow and black pokémon looked up at him with a bit of confusion until Vale brought a finger to his lips in a gesture for silence. She nodded in, her great jaw swinging slowly behind her, barely visible in the dark compared to her yellow body.

"Ly' I need you to stay in front of me a little ways to make sure I don't trip over anything, go slow." Vale whispered to his mawile, giving her a pat on the head before he stood up.

"Maw" She agreed before turning around and moving down the path between the creates, swinging her jaw slowly from side to side to check for obstacles to her sides.

Vale followed after her, a little eased with his own checking now. He still had to wonder where that sneasel of his had gotten off to though, hoping he wasn't causing him any more problems.

Lier watched as the human let out another pokémon and then laid down. He started to move over the creates some more, circling around some to get a better view. There were still two pokémon there which made things a little difficult to do any work but he figured he could have a little fun all the same. Crouching down on one crate he brought a clawed hand up above his head and slammed it down, puncturing the crate with a sharp snap of wood. With that done he moved quickly to another crate, hoping the human would take a little time to react to that sound.
