Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ News and Updates _ Month of December (2016)

Posted by: Darth Krytie Nov 30 2016, 04:20 PM

Wow, everybody~ It's December already! How did we get to the end of the year so quickly? This year seemed to be fast-paced! Is everyone enjoying Sun and Moon so far? We sure are. We're working hard toward getting Sun and Moon Pokemon ready for the site. Though, please don't expect a full Gen 7 drop too soon. We want to give time for people to enjoy the actual games before putting them here (and give time for our Spriters to do their magic).

Congratulations to Malachite for winning last month's SWSH! And congratulations to everyone who completed their shiny hunts! We hope everyone enjoys their prize.

This Month's Explorations:

Summon the Hero: Zekrom, Reshiram
Finding Your Muse: Meloetta
The Three Singing Chatot: Bird Trio (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres)
Diamonds are Forever: Diancie

December means December trinkets! I'm still accepting more December trinkets, if any Trinket makers care to submit them. As a reminder, the first box you open every day will have a guarantee of four December Trinkets.

Happy Birthday to: Glitch The Noivern on December 18th, and Rhapsody on December 30th.

We've got some fun stuff in store, so keep an eye out!

Please head on over to Jen's https://forums.gpx.plus/index.php?showtopic=74461 for fun and conversation!

New month, new goodies. Yay! Birds and Zek for me

Posted by: Asbel Lhant Nov 30 2016, 11:56 PM

December already, too scary.

Going after Diancie and Zekrom/Moltres this month. Can't decide which xD.

Posted by: Earth Nov 30 2016, 11:57 PM

2 Gen 6 explorations eh? Great!

As I remember, lots of crazy stuff happens in December. Looking forward to it.

December, whaaaaaaaaaaaat. How why when where etc.

Guess I'll go for Articuno and Zekrom, assuming I finish DotW on time.

Posted by: Shadow Fennekin Dec 1 2016, 12:04 AM

Hm.... who to go for, I only need Virizion at this point so trying to decide which legends have the best shinies to try for

Posted by: barryhill Dec 1 2016, 12:09 AM

Got my prize, thanks guys!
Can't wait for more Gen 7's to pop up, as I would love to Hunt for a shiny Stufful.
Now, onto my new quest: Grabbing a lovely new Reshiram.

Posted by: The Yatagarasu Dec 1 2016, 01:39 AM

Can't believe it's already December, wow. I'll probably be going for the bird trio and the R/Z explo this month.
EDIT: Oh neat, awesome prize!

Seems like I'm already pretty set on the legendaries for this month, think I'll probably be spend some time on more Item Explorations and the like. And of course glad to see Alola making it's way here!

Also glad to finally see an "original" Bug-Type Novelty! I never really saw Bidofo Bow Form and Fossil Anorith as true "Bug Novelties" since they're part of sets, and aside from that all we have is Pink Caterpie, who was based on the Anime. Neat to see something a little more "unique"! Though odd that it apparently doesn't evolve - though I suppose that's not all that dissimilar from some other first-stage novelties we've gotten recently. Either way, glad it exists!

Ahhh I get what you mean, to me it's like July was only a month ago.

I'm a fan of both Diancie and Meloetta so I guess I'm going to try to do both (and finish my current exploration)

As for Moon and Sun, I'm really enjoying it due to all the new interesting Pokémon and new routes to explore.

It is going be interesting have 2 different Winter Vulpixs and Winter NineTales on GPXPlus. (GPXPlus' Winter Vulpix & GPXPlus' Winter Ninetales and the 7th Gen Vulpix and 7th Gen Ninetales with their Alola Form.) when the 7th Gen Vulpix line is added to GPXPlus sometime in the future.

The Pokemon Company must have loved the idea of GPXPlus' novelty Pokemon, Winter Vulpix and Winter Ninetales that they made Alola Form Vulpix and Alola Form Ninetales which are their (The Pokemon Company) own take on Winter Vulpix and Winter Ninetales with different sprites.

So a GPXPlus novelty became a non-novelty in the 7th Gen.

It's a very common idea. I doubt they got it specifically from GPX+. Though maybe Winter Vulpix itself is not that common, but pokémon similar to GPX's novelties can be found everywhere.

uhhhh I hate Gen VII they changed the whole designs of ninetales and such

I love Ninetales. Now the new design is equally beautiful but less Ninetales-like.

Yay, it's my birthday month. I get to become older.

I picked Popplio for my prize. If I can unlazy myself I might embark on Meloetta, but who knows. I've been really bad with explorations as of late. dry.gif

Posted by: InsaneMoments Dec 1 2016, 01:39 PM

Congrats to the winners! I think I'll be doing for Di and maybe one of legendary birds for this months explorations. I like shiny zen and rest but they just don't appeal to me as much as the others sad.gif

I've been super lazy with sun/moon so I'm glad I can focus on that a little more then trying to get her new Pokémon here already ha

Posted by: Leomon2004 Dec 1 2016, 05:33 PM

I had to buy my Voucher, only had enough points for one. sad.gif

I hope people start breeding the starters so I can get the other two.

Posted by: Sundaisy Dec 2 2016, 01:49 PM

nice, congrats happy birthday to you, : Glitch The Noivern and Rhapsody. good luck. happy.gif

Posted by: uchihax Dec 2 2016, 08:26 PM

is there going to be an exploration for volcanion egg anytime soon? The only way to currently get it is the monthly legendary egg distribution.

That's not quite true. It appears that a cloakless form was seen in the anime. I don't recall ever seeing that episode, so I don't know for how LONG it was cloakless, but it seems to be like the Pink Cater[pie you originally mentioned and have ties to the anime.

And also? I'm wondering when the December explorations {12 Days and the Christmas Carol ones} will return to active status. I had both of them completed by the 8th last year, but this year, they're still listed under the Inactive tab.

Posted by: Foxfire Dec 8 2016, 04:24 AM

well, the GEN VII release has its own perks...

PAIYU PAIYU

(in case you don't know Gichu Paiyu is my plush bird that looks a lot like Rowlet so I call Rowlet 'Paiyu')

EDIT: Happy Birthday to me on 28th!

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 15 2016, 09:51 PM

Diance, which I will then evolve into a Mega Diance.

Posted by: DarkStar519 Dec 18 2016, 08:11 PM

Now, that a new generation of Pokemon is being added, has any thought been considered for adding a few more (5-10) PC Boxes? They can be like the other extra PC Boxes and obtainable through Prize Points if necessary.

The amount of Pokemon on GPX is constantly growing, and I know some people were requesting boxes when Kalos was added. Now, another whole 80+ Pokemon are being added so long time players are running out of box space. Having just a few more boxes available would be quite helpful as the Alola Pokemon + other Novelties are added.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 19 2016, 05:45 AM

I can't tell what will happen. Currently my live-dex takes up about 47 boxes (not finished yet though; come on, Mew-two exploration) and I've still got 14 Ultra boxes to go which I buy every million points. I don't want to be spending my Prize Points on boxes.

It's a decent point, but IS there anybody who has the full quota of boxes and has ever filled them all up?

Posted by: pumpkinking0192 Dec 20 2016, 11:49 AM

From what I've heard (although I've intentionally avoided reaching that point yet, so I can't say firsthand), having most/all of the boxes with most/all of them full causes heavy lag on the PC page and in extreme cases can even make the PC page impossible to use. I suspect the staff may want to overhaul the PC page to fix this problem before adding even more boxes.

That's not how that issue worked. The isse was that when you had "too many" pokemon, the achievement check would run out of resources, and whatever page you were loading wouldn't load. The temporary fix was to go to the pc, which would still load. The isse was also fixed by giving your browser more resources to work with, which doesn't really scale well, so yeah, putting in more boxes isn't really a simple thing to do.

By the end of this, having pc space is really all about prioritizing what you want to spend the space on.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 21 2016, 05:43 AM

As long as there are enough PC boxes to have a live dex (a popular desire) then theoretically we have enough PC boxes.

Posted by: ApocalypticA Dec 23 2016, 10:41 AM

Does anyone know why I can't submit my shiny Ninetails for the Secret Santa giveaway? The option doesn't appear in the drop-down menu.

edit: wrong thread, sorry ^^'

I hate the RNG that is the Dreidel. And do you know why? Because despite everything, Tyranisaur's got over 600 coins in this one day, meaning he must have been spinning the doubles just about every time, and while dropping 30 coins each time.

Doesn't feel like RNG to me.

Another reason I hate RNG is that there's no skill in it. I get an awful lot of Nun, and especially when I gamble high, it seems.

Posted by: Tyranisaur Dec 23 2016, 07:59 PM

Ok, so about one fourth of my coins today came from the dreidel. Furthermore, I only bet more than 20 coins four times, and got Gimel on about half of my rolls. Honestly, I suspect that other users had higher profits off of the dreidel than I did.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 23 2016, 08:13 PM

I don't mean to accuse - luck is luck - but how'd you get a third more than the #2 if you don't win the Dreidel with a Gimel (or Shin) just about every time?

Apart from anything else if there's a trick to it, it sure would be nice to know...

Posted by: Tyranisaur Dec 23 2016, 08:33 PM

It's hard to tell where Sam had his profits compared to me, maybe he will shed some light on it tomorrow.

Coins don't just come from the Dreidel. It's very possible he just hatched a lot, lot, lot of eggs. With Honey+, it's easy to grab the correct eggs if you're hunting mostly/only Gen I Pokemon.

Posted by: Tyranisaur Dec 26 2016, 08:19 AM

I just noticed there are new December trinkets added to the set.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 26 2016, 08:30 AM

Honestly, it's like the Dreidel has a mouth, and it's spitting into my face.

"Ha ha! Accept my spit! How I loathe randomness! You will have no good spins! Only my mocking saliva!"

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 27 2016, 05:35 AM

If you corrupt an egg you KNOW will become shiny (say, you traded a shiny Pokemon) it will hatch in its corrupted form shiny, like my Zergoose egg (that I traded a shiny Dracowymsy for) becoming the Shiny Zergoose Feral. So it is worth having a Shiny Miltank or Shiny Pidgey.

Posted by: x Sam Dec 27 2016, 12:00 PM

In regards to my own profits with the Dreidel, I've just been lucky really. I've been betting 30 at a time and most of the time I've lucked out and it has landed on Gimel.

That being said I've been hatching gen1 eggs with sprite power tier 3 which, if I lose my coins, I can easily get them back after a couple of batches of eggs. Lots of Magikarp to hatch. Most of my coins have come from hatching eggs and lucking out with sprites.
