Paul looked at the Ninetales sitting waving it's tails majesticly.

"Your in for it now." The trainer told Kishk, Daniel and Paul.

"Be careful Mareep, that Ninetales is very powerful." he warned his Mareep. I better not engage it in direct combat. Who knows what it's cappable of. "Use Thundershock!"

"Quick Attack then Fire Spin!" The Ninetales dogded out of the way of the Thundershock with incredible speed then fired a massive stream of fire out of it's mouth at Mareep that circled around it.

"Mareep!" Paul shouted worriedly. When the fire cleared Paul saw that his Mareep had fainted. "Oh no!" Paul set the Eevee down and ran up to Mareep. "Are you OK?" The Mareep nodded slowly. "Alright, good. You take a nice long rest." Paul took out Mareep's Pokeball and called it back.

[Kishk]

Kishk cursed quietly when he saw that the Mareep had fainted. Thinking things through quickly in his mind, Kishk decided on a plan.

"Pidgey, circle the Ninetales and use Gust around it!" he ordered.

If Pidgey can take the beating, then the others might have a chance to inflict some serious damage on that Ninetales... Just... HANG IN THERE PIDGEY!

Kishk yelled out his last four words, his hand already inching towards Pidgey's Pokeball in case anything happened.

"Perfect." Daniel thought to himself, "Now that Pidgey is distracting the Ninetales, Max can increase his attack power a bit more."

"Max, I need you to use Howl a couple more times and then go in for a Bite." Daniel said to Max.

Max duly howled another 3 times and then ran towards the Ninetales whilst Pidgey was distracting it. He then delivered a super powerful Bite to the Ninetales chest.

"Yes! Great job Max! That'll show him!" Daniel shouted jubilantly.

The trainer looked annoyed then shouted, "Ninetales, use Quick Attack on the Pidgey!" The Ninetales quickly shot up at the Pidgey knocking it out of the sky. "Now use Flamethrower on Poochyena!" Ninetales then shot a hot jet of flames at Poochyena.

"Dodge it!" Daniel yelled as Poochyena jumped out of the way. But the flames just kept going and they were going right at Paul. He jumped out of the way landing face first on the ground and slightly burning the back of his shirt.

"Well that was close..." Paul said as he felt the burn on his back. Then he heard Eevee growl and looked up to see it tackling the Ninetales.

"So your baby Eevee wants to play hero huh? Use Flamethrower on it to!" The Ninetales fired another massive Flamethrower from it's mouth and Eevee quickly dodged it.

Paul got up and ran back over to Kishk and Daniel. That Eevee is fast, and it seems it wants to help me. Maybe it'll listen to me? "Eevee, use Tackle!" The Eevee tackled the Ninetales again. Looks like I have a new friend. Paul smiled.

Don't worry, I got permission to use the other characters.

[Kishk]

After receiving that powerful Quick Attack, Kishk knew that Pidgey was out for the count, and immediately returned her to her Pokeball.

You've done really well, thanks... But now it's time for Growlithe to get a piece of the action!

"Go! Growlithe!" he said, throwing another Pokeball into the air. Once Growlithe had materialized, Kishk gave him his instructions. "Alright Growlithe, dash up behind the Ninetales while it's busy with Max and the Eevee, then use Growl, and follow it up with Ember!"

Growlithe dashed nimbly through the Ninetales' legs, and used Growl, reducing the Ninetales' attack. Growlithe then proceeded to Bite the Ninetales in the left back leg, and he held on ferociously, digging his sharp, pointed teeth deeper into the Ninetales' skin.

"Yeesh... That is one hot Flamethrower..." Daniel said jumping back as another flamethrower flew past him.

Daniel watched as the Eevee Paul had been carrying, tackled the Ninetales on it's own.

"That is one tough little Eevee you've got yourself." Daniel commented to Paul.

"Thanks. I'm quite surprised at how tough he is." Paul replied.

Daniel turned back to the battlefield and saw Eevee dodging another Flamethrower.

"Right Max, while Eevee is distracting Ninetales, I want you to go round to it's side and hit it with the best tackle you can muster!" Daniel told his Poochyena.

Max quickly ran off towards the wall to the Ninetales left and then almost as soon as he got there, charged straight into the Ninetales with enough force to send it flying into the crates to it's right.

"That should take care of that." Daniel said confidently.

"Hmph" the trainer grunted as his Ninetales got hit. "Fine, Ninetales, use Fire Spin on them!" he said pointing at Daniel, Kishk and Paul.

As the Ninetales was about to launch its attack, Paul told the Eevee, "Hurry Eevee, use Sand Attack!" Eevee spun around so it's back was facing the Ninetales then started to spin its tail to create a small wind picking up dirt and sending it flying right a Ninetales getting in it's eyes. Impressive. Paul thought to self. "Face it, you've lost. Call back your Pokemon."

By now, Max was pretty exhausted. Daniel couldn't blame him considering he'd had the most to do.

"Max, return." Daniel said holding out Max's pokeball. Max disappeared in a beam of red light, and Daniel placed the pokeball back in his pocket.

"Lily, you're up." Daniel said throwing another pokeball out. In a flash of white Lily the Treecko appeared, ready for a fight.

"This fight isn't over yet." The trainer said with a smile. "Ninetales, Fire Blast!"

All of a sudden a blast of red hot fire came hurtling towards the group of trainers.

"Hit the deck!" Daniel shouted. All three trainers hit the ground as the fire hurtled over them, just singing the top of Daniels hair.

When they looked up they found that the trainer and his Ninetales had gone but lying on the ground was the Vulpix Max had taken out.

"Damn.... he got away... But... why did he leave this Vulpix?" Daniel wondered out loud. "No matter... if he's abandoned this Vulpix then i'll keep it, but first it would be best to get it to the pokemon centre."

Daniel picked up the Vulpix and returned Lily to her pokeball. He then waited for Kishk and Paul to do the same.

[Kishk]

As Kishk got up from the floor, cursing at the fact that the Trainer had escaped from them, he realized that his Growlithe was missing.

"Growlithe? Growlithe!" he shouted, searching for the Pokemon which had been biting into one of the Ninetales' back legs. Suddenly, he heard several whimpers coming from a pile of wooden and cardboard wreckage. Digging frantically through it, Kishk finally found his Growlithe, still whimpering. "Growlithe! That Ninetales must have thrown you off before escaping... Oh well... You did really well!" he said, returning the Growlithe into his Pokeball.

Kishk glanced up at Reeves and Paul.

"I guess we did it, eh guys?" Kishk said, limping towards them. "Besides the Trainer getting away of course." he added. A small sparkle caught his eye. He crouched down and rubbed some soot off of a small metal object. Once it was clean, Kishk held it up to the light coming through a crack in a boarded-up window. It was a small Team Magma badge.

"Hey guys... take a look at this!" he said, showing them the badge. "He must have been a Magma... But he wasn't wearing their uniform... Perhaps he was attempting to prove himself worthy?"

"Hmm, dunno." Paul said as he brushed off the dirt on his pants then looked over at Eevee and Cyndaquil to make sure they were OK and walked over to Cyndaquil and Eevee. "You guys must be pretty hungry." he said as reaching into his pocket to grab some Pokemon food. "Here you go." He held out barely a handful of food. "Sorry guys, it's all I got." he told them as they ate it up.

Paul got back up and looked at the burning crates from Ninetales' Flamethowers. He looked at Kishk, "Don't you have a Totodile? We should probably put those crates out before the whole building goes ablaze."

[Kishk]

"Oh! I forgot!" Kishk said, reaching for Totodile's Pokeball. "Come on out, Totodile!"

The red beam that came from the open Pokeball materialized into his tired Totodile. It looked at him as if to say 'Not again...'

"I know, I know, but you just need to put out a few crates with your Water Gun. C'mon, then we can go back to The Sanctuary, rest, eat and sleep!" said Kishk, urging the Totodile forward.

With a final glare and a comical snarl at Kishk, which answered him with a giggle, the Totodile began putting out some of the fire's that had started on the crates around their battle area. Once they were extinguished, the Totodile ran up to Kishk and tapped the button on his Pokeball, retreating into it. Kishk smiled and patted the Pokeball.

"Now... shall we get going?" he asked the other two.

Paul crouched back down and looked at the Eevee. "You showed some real tallent. So, what do you say, you wanna come with us?" The Eevee nodded and then rubbed up against Paul. Paul chuckled as he took out an empty Pokeball. "Alright." Paul smiled as tapped the button on the Pokeball up against Eevee. The Pokeball opened and in a red light, Eevee went into it. The Pokeball shook a few times then beeped. "Looks like we have a new friend." Paul told Cyndaquil who looked happy. Paul opened the Pokeball back up and Eevee came back out in a white light. "Well, come on then, we should get out of this junkyard." he said as he got up.

"Yeah we should, this Vulpix is in pretty bad shape." Daniel replied.

The three trainers walked out of the warehouse with Paul's Cyndaquil leading the way. When they reached the outside, dawn was breaking. It looked to be a very nice day. They made their way to the Pokemon Centre and had Nurse Joy heal their pokemon.

Daniel looked at the Vulpix in his arms and said "I guess since you've been abandoned by your former trainer it might be best to come with me."

The Vulpix looked up at Daniel and gave a small smile. Daniel held out an empty pokeball and the Vulpix pressed the button with it's nose. The pokeball rocked a few times before it gave that all too gratifying click signalling the pokemon was caught.

"Come on out Vulpix." Daniel said as he held the pokeball containing the Vulpix in his hand. The Vulpix materialised in Daniels arms.

"Time to give you a name I would think. How about Belle?" Daniel asked the Vulpix. She considered it for a moment and then nodded.

Back at base the three man team made their report.

"We found out that this mystery trainer was a bit of a Magma wannabe. We suspect he was trying to prove to Team Magma that he was worthy of joining them, which is why he caused all that damage." Daniel said.

"So what happened to this mysterious trainer?" asked his Superior.

"Well.... unfortunately he got away..." Daniel replied sheepishly.

"Humph. No matter. What pokemon did he have that caused such a large amount of damage?" the Superior asked.

"It was an extremely strong Ninetales. That Ninetales is the reason he escaped. It was too strong for us to beat." Daniel replied.

"Very well. You may go. You all did a good job. This information will help some of our veterans in their fight against Magma." said the Superior.

The three man team left their superiors office and headed into the lounge area to discuss their adventure.
