After being out for several months, I am finally going to be able to grab a 3DS and Pokemon X. On Saturday, I will have bought my 3DS. Any thoughts on what I should do before I begin my journey? Got any tips, tricks, battle strategies, you name it! Just post it here if you would!

When you have the chance, catch a Honedge. Aeigislash is a great battle Pokemon. Also, hunt shinies!

I was thinking of getting a Aeigislash, my friend has one and says they're great! Probably not gonna do that much shiny hunting. (Only ever got one shiny legit. Most of the ones I have are from trading with other people online and ingame events, like my shiny Haxorus, Alduin.)

In-game shiny hunting is a lot easier in X/Y. You should check out the fishing chain thing they added (where you fish and the same spot over and over and your shiny chances increase) and the Pokeradar (which was in D/P/Pt). I've gotten a shiny Octillery through chain fishing.

In terms of other stuff, I can also say that the Honedge line is amazing. The game is not super hard overall (even the E4 is kind of easy). You should definitely take advantage of the Battle Chateau and the GTS. Plus, you can now search for Pokemon on the GTS that are not in your Pokedex yet.

We should trade friend codes when you get it, by the way. happy.gif

Thanks for the advice! I do know a lot about the game already though due to my friend already having it and watching a couple of LP's. And yes, I will be posting my FC and my Friend Safari type once I get the game.

My own advice:

I use Doublade instead of Aegislash. I give Doublade an Eviolite, give it Swords Dance, then troll with Shadow Sneak.

The shiny stuff is dead on too. However, even the odds for encountering shinies by just wandering around has increased as well. cat.gif

ALSO: Try to get a Froakie off of GTS with the Protean ability, which changes Froakie and its evolution's type to the move it uses. It ALWAYS gets STAB, and has incredible defensive capabilities as well!

Nope. I'm not the kind of person to do that sort of thing. Besides, my Pokemon are already in the 70's. I'm not gonna release 'em if they faint.
@Doom Hunter - I got a Froakie with Protean relatively early. I still had a Frogadier when I got it. I also got a Fletching with Gale Wings. Both were from Wonder Trade, too.
(BTW, my FC is 1950-9577-7656 and my friend safari type is Poison)
