It's so PANEful..

Discussion Thread <== Plot is located there.

The day has finally arrived. It's time to start Ivan's first journey towards Furoh. But first, he had to go to Canalave City for a cruise to Port Barley. He already bid farewell to his parents before going to Vermilion City to take a speedboat. The speedboat didn’t have a license to go to Furoh so they dropped him in Canalave Port. The boat will not yet leave for at least an hour so he went to the ticketing booth to buy his ticket. He had to fall in line quickly since the line was so long. After waiting for more than fifteen minutes, he decided to ride the ferry because he was so excited in riding it. It was amazing! It was 65 meters long so you won’t get easily bored while riding and you can look around. It has an amazing view of the ocean while riding. It was also full of fun areas to pass the time like swimming pools, restaurants on boats, spas, Jacuzzis, mud baths, and even a battlefield! Of course, when there is a battlefield, there is always a pokemon center that treats pokemon when injured. The rooms were small and simple yet comfy to stay. The rooms’ key is a card that you swipe so no trespassers can steal your stuff.

“Whoa! This is amazing! I can’t believe this… It’s huge! “

Ivan was surprised to see that it was also full of new trainers ready to also start a journey. He didn’t know what to do first. So he walked around the ferry. He took a good look of the port and saw some flying Wingull and Pelipper. The pool wasn’t that big or deep. But at least it was clean and fresh. It was also good for water pokemon to play there. Of course, some just like to lie under the sun to get a tan. The Jacuzzis and mud baths are for relaxing your nerves to keep you calm and refreshed. Some pokemon can also join in. From the outside, the restaurant looks small but when you go inside, it almost looks like it was bigger than the ferry because it was full of space. It was good for live acts like singing and dancing. The battlefield is perfect for practice battles to start training your pokemon. The pokemon center was right next to it so you don’t need to rush from the other side of the boat. Actually, the Jacuzzis and mud baths were good for healing the pokemon so the center was mainly for treating the pokemon with status problems like paralysis or poison.

He went to his room and sat down for a while. He got lonely for a second and called out his pokemon.

“Go, Mao and Shivers!”

The Bulbasaur and Swinub ran around the room to chase each other. Mao chased Shivers but he cheated and used Vine Whip to grab him. But because of karma, Mao tripped and Shivers laughed so hard. They stopped and listened to Ivan for a moment.

“I’m so excited guys! This is gonna be a fun adventure!!”

Not much words, but very motivating for them. They stayed in the room and did some stuff for a while. He locked the room to make sure no one barges right in. The first room he checked was the bathroom. He styled his hair for a second and laid down the bed after styling. The beds were comfy and soft. It was so soft; he got drowsy and yawned for a moment. He didn’t notice that his eyes were getting heavy and because of that, he dozed off for a few minutes. Mao and Shivers chased each other again after Ivan spoke and dozed.

James said his goodbye's to his parents and looked at his map to see the route to Furoh. He looked at the map and it showed the possible way to get to Furoh was to go from Canalave. James was thinking on catching a speed boat but luckily one of his friends has a Staraptor, so James went to ask him if he could catch the flight to Canalave. His friend was happy and joyful to as they both hoped on the black and white bird and started flying. The day from the sky looked sunny and a great day to start his adventure.

As they arrived in Canalave James saw a Boat and a Ferry. The boat line was huge with trainers of all degrees, James said thanks and goodbye to his friend and looked over at the ticket booth. When James got to the ticket booth he purchased his ticket and stood in line. It was a long line James stood there for 25 minutes until he looked across and decided to jump onto the Ferry. He hadn't seen a ferry before and thought it was a boat with customized decorations and things like Mud Pools and a Battlefield.

James gave the guard his ticket and they let him on as he looked around at the many new trainers. He saw all types of pokemon battling and relaxing, James decided to let his pokemon out. So he grabbed his pokeballs off his belt pressed the white center button and said

"Go, Muddy and Frost."

As the red beam started to fade away Muddy a Mudkip and Frost the Snover came out looking happy. James was excited to be starting his adventure and hoped to meet many new friends and pokemon. Mudkip almost walked away looking at the Mud Baths it was funny to watch it glaring at them as it was like nature to it. So James let it go to the Mud Bath and Snover was more relaxed and wanted to stay out of the sun. James looked around and said to himself.

"Let the adventure begin!"

Canalave. The city of canals. The city of dreams.

At least for Alexander Wells anyways. He was on the final stretch of his trip to Furoh, like most of the trainers here. This city was where most people got on board boats that sailed to Barley Port, known as the "Gateway to Furoh". What lay beyond Barley Port was said to be a land of wonder unlike any other region. Contrasting climates of desert, forest, mountain, and industrial zones were said to exist in this region, making more appealing to any adventurer. Furthermore was the fact that there were only four gym leaders to beat, making this region appealing for trainers who are just starting out.

Alexander Wells was one of those trainers. He was heading to Furoh to begin his own journey, and to obtain four badges from each gym leader. However, unlike other trainers this wasn't his main goal. He wanted these badges so he could go home. It may sound odd, but it made sense when you know where Alex came from. Alex was from the Battle Frontier of Hoenn. His goal: To be able to challenge and beat every frontier brain, including his former master, Noland. But in order to do that, he first had to compete in a pokemon league. And so began Alex's journey.

Alexander presented his tickets to the man taking them, a short man in uniform. He punched a hole in the tickets and motioned for Alex to get on board the famous "S.S. Lady of Furoh".

The ship was fairly large for a six hour trip when Alex first boarded. He guessed that this was the extra he had payed for. The boat had amenities such as a pool, private cabins for all trainers, complimentary seasickness bags, and a battle arena for those who wanted to test their skills. Alex knew this had probably cost more than he had needed to spend, but it was well worth it. Besides, the trainer's discount had made it somewhat less of a monetary loss.

Alex walked to the bow of the ship and leaned forward. He watched Wingulls glided along the sky, clouds drifting slowly in the air. It was a still day with little wind, but it wasn't sweltering either, making it perfect for Alex. He hated hot days, and if it had been warm Alex would have probably camped out in his cabin, which was odd since the Battle Frontier held a warm tropical climate. However, since Noland was an indoor guy and held all his classes in side the air-conditioned Factory facility, Alex didn't have much of a problem with this. The only times he ever had a problem was when he ran the ice-cream cart on weekends to make money for his trip. It seemed as though nature purposely made it as hot as possible on those days so Alex would fry in the sun. What was worse was that company policy said he could only have one ice cream cone per day in order to keep himself cool, which forced him to ration a single cone throughout the day. He also had to consider his pokemon, who he brought with him since his mom and dad required him to take them outside every once in a while. Sharing what he could with them, he often was left with only a few bites for himself. He didn't mind this, but he wished the company had alloted him more ice-cream for those hot summer days.

"Oh, right!", said Alex, remembering his pokemon. He had forgotten to take them out on the boat so they could see it.

"Come on out Treecko!", he said, opening up a large red and white pokeball. The green grass gecko stretched, letting out a small "tre, treecko!", before looking around at the boat.

"How do you like the boat?", asked Alex, pointing at the various things they could do.

"Treecko! Tre!", said treecko in happy response, smiling at it's trainer.

"OK, Mudkip, Makuhita, you come out too!", Alex said opening up two more pokeballs. Mudkip and Makuhita both poured out from the red light, stretching as well.

"Now, this is a pretty crowded boat, so I'll allow you to play, just as long as you stay close, ok?", Alex told his pokemon. They all nodded before they began to play with each other and search for other pokemon to play with.

"Ah, now this is the life...", Alex said, smiling. He looked out at the glistening ocean, and prepared himself for his first pokemon journey.

PANE Pokemon

"There, that should be the last of it," Twila said as she shoved the last of her tools into her bag. Merle, her Makuhita, was running around the room excitedly, tripping over his feet now and then. Twila giggled at him, then looked over to her Nidoran, Kimber. She was sitting by the bedroom door, glaring at Twila like she was going to maul her if she didn't hurry up. Twila frowned at Kimber, then shouldered her charcoal grey messenger bag and opened the door. She ran down the stairs, with Merle and Kimber close behind. She walked into the kitchen, only to trip over a small little Turtwig, who gave a small startled yelp. "Dusk!" Twila yelled at her little sister, "Keep better track of your Pokemon!" Dusk was at the kitchen counter, having a bowl of breakfast cereal.

Seeing her Pokemon sprawled out on the floor, Dusk gasped and cried, "Silverwood! Are you okay baby?" She picked up the small turtle and hugged it tightly.

"Oh no, I'm fine. Don't worry about your big sister or anything..." Twila said sarcastically as she got up from the floor. She didn't fail to notice a certain blue rabbit grinning at her from the hallway. She made her way to the kitchen and poured herself a bowl of cereal.

"So, you heading out soon?" asked Dusk, who had set Silverwood back on the ground.

"Yep. Gonna catch the ferry over to Furoh so I can find that plant to cure Mai," Twila said between bites of cereal, her mood darkening a little as she thought of her Ralts. She shook the thoughts of her poisoned Pokemon from her mind, then turned to her sister and asked, "What about you? When are you leaving?"

"A few hours," Dusk said, "I have to wait for Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Kevin to get here and take over the PokeMart before I can leave." She grimaced at the thought of having to converse with their negligent relatives.

Twila put her finished bowl of cereal in the dishwasher. She was glad that she wouldn't have to stick around to say hi to their guardians ('Yeah, right. Guardians.' Twila thought to herself.). She grabbed her bag from the floor, then went to stand next to her ten-year-old sister. "I'm going to miss you."

"Oh, don't be a drama queen," Dusk said, play-pushing her older sister, "We'll see each other again. And don't hurry back here either! Have fun over in Furoh, and kick some butt at those gyms!" They laughed and hugged each other, the bittersweet moment of goodbye lingering long after Twila left the house and headed for the city's port.

Canalave's port was full of people, the line for ferry tickets was as long as she could ever remember. Being born in a port city gives you an instinctive love for water. Twila used to love going out on her parents' boat, before they died. She looked down at the ground, suddenly depressed. Merle looked up at his trainer, and seeing how sad she looked, took her hand in his small glove-like one and smiled at her. Twila smiled back and patted his head. Kimber just rolled her red eyes.

Finally, after a 20 minute wait, Twila got her ferry ticket and proceeded onto the boat. It was huge, much bigger than the ferry that went back and forth from Iron Island. Twila looked around her in awe, marvelling at all the different activities and accomodations. She smiled happily and headed towards her cabin to set down her stuff. Her room was cozy: a small room with one bed, a TV, a nightstand, a closet and a private bathroom. Twila smiled contentedly and set her bag down on a chair. Then, she flopped down on the bed, revelling in its softness. Seeing how relaxed his trainer was, Merle decided to hop up onto the bed and try it out for himself. He sighed contentedly and snuggled into Twila's side, making her giggle slightly. Trainer and Pokemon quickly fell asleep on the bed, leaving a certain female Nidoran free to sneak out of the cabin and look around the boat by herself.

Alexander Wells let his pokemon play for a while on the boat, and he watched his pokemon have fun with one another. It seemed both Mudkip and Makuhita looked up to Treecko like a big brother, since he was the most experienced of the three. He kept watch over the two younger pokemon while they played, and made sure they didn't get into any trouble.

Alex observed the pokemon and the different things they did for fun. He watched them as they played different games such as tag. The pokemon ran back and forth, circling around and around. Alex smiled, amused by this.

While the pokemon relaxed and played, Alex looked at his watch to check the time. It was 9:50 AM, and the boat departed ten minutes from now. The boat's ETA was around six hours from then, around 4:00 PM. After they got off the boat, Alex would then head over to the Barley Port Pokemon Center and call it a day.

"Hey guys, want to see our cabin?", asked Alex. The pokemon stopped playing for a moment and payed attention to Alex. They then smiled and nodded, eager to play inside the room and bounce on the beds. They lined up behind Alex, and Alex made sure he had everyone.

"Are we good?", he asked. The pokemon nodded, and Alex headed off to his room.

Walking inside to the cabin, Alex consulted a nearby map, and navigated his way to the room. White light illuminated the cool hallways as Alex walked through the boat. He was impressed by the intricate patterns on the carpet and the paintings of various scenes. One painting that caught Alex's eye was one of a pod of wailord's swimming into the sunset. The water shone a mixture of dark blue and ocean, with the shading and lighting in the painting done amazingly. The mom, dad, and child swam together in this awe inspiring and touching scene, which made Alex think of home and his parents.

"I'll make you proud mom, I promise", he said to himself, continuing to walk towards his cabin.

As he walked by, he noticed a door cracked open. Before he could make anything of it, a small pokemon, probably a Nidoran scurried out through the opening and ran down the corridor.

"The trainer must not be watching it or may have fallen asleep. I'll just leave it alone", Alex said continuing down the corridor. Alex soon found room 107 right next to the person with the open door, and used his card key to open the door. It took about 3 tries before the card key finally cooperated, but when Alex walked in he smiled.

It was perfect. The beds were neatly folded, the bathroom extremely clean, and an HD television hung on the wall. A print of a deep-sea photo hung on the wall, and fresh-cut flowers sat in a vase on the side near the lamp. A brochure with room service numbers and prices could also be found near the lamp, but Alex knew better than to ever do anything with room service.

Alex set his bag on the bed and flopped onto it. He noticed it was a "Swablu-pedic" bed immediatly due to it's softness, and the pokemon soon found their way onto the beds as well.

"So, let's watch some TV and wait until the boat leaves, ok? After that we'll go outside and have some fun", Alex said, grabbing the remote. He immediately turned on the television, and flipped channels until he found the Trainer Channel. The channel was broadcasting a Furoh Pokethelon match, which Alex watched as he waited for the boat to head off to Barley Port.

It's so PANEful..

"HOOOOONK!"

The boat was finally ready to leave. One of the crowds smashed a bottle when it left. It was actually its first cruise to Furoh because they used S.S. Iron Moon for all those years. They used that ship whenever it doesn't need to go to Iron Island or FullMoon Island. Ever since an engine exploded a few years back, the management decided to build a new boat. And they named it S.S. Lady to Furoh since it was designed to go from Canalave to Port Barley. Although the engine of S.S. Iron Moon was fixed, they only used it for travelling to Iron Island only.

The people watched as the boat leaves slowly while some of them were screaming "Bon Voyage!”. The bridge was lifted after the S.S. Lady to Furoh moved forward. It moved faster as it gets closer to the ocean. The boat finally sailed normally as it left Canalave City. Since it was brand new, it was actually quite faster than other ships.

“Huh? What?!? Are we there yet?”

Ivan was startled after the boat honked. He woke up instantly; he looked like he woke up from a bad dream. The bed and his hair became messy because he moves a lot when he sleeps. The first thing he did was styling his hair again, and then he fixed the bed.

Meanwhile Mao and Shivers were still chasing each other. They chased each other for more than a few minutes now. After all that chasing, they sat down, breath deeper, and rested. Ivan noticed it for a second, and then he chuckled and grinned.

After all that chasing and napping, they decided to go outside the room. They went to the end of the ship to look at the view. The currents below looked strong, but the mass and velocity of the boat didn’t stop them from moving forward. The skies were cloudy and a bit windy; perfect day for sailing. It was also a good day for swimming. So he went to the pool and swam for a while. Before that, he told Mao and Shivers to stay close so they won’t be lost.

“Don’t run away guys, I‘ll have a hard time looking for you and you’ll have a hard time looking for me. So stay close okay?”
“Bulba! Swi-nub!”
“Okay guys, have fun!”

Since those two were tired because of chasing each other, they sat down and relaxed near the benches. The pool was a bit cool because of the weather but not that cold. The pool was only 4’6” deep so it was only good for playing. He watched the other water pokemon play. The Squirtle splashed water on the Piplup and it used bubblebeam to get back on him. The Piplup missed and instead, the Totodile got hit. The Totodile got angry and he charged on the Piplup. Instead of hitting the Piplup, the Mudkip was bitten. They all got mad at each other and they started a quarrel with each other. The water was not calm anymore and the trainers called them back to their pokeballs.

Ivan got bored after watching them so he lay down on the bench next to his pokemon and he tanned his skin for a while.

As Alex watched TV with his pokemon, he took notes about the strengths and weaknesses of each pokemon. He had developed a habit of taking notes ever since Noland had begun to train him. This notepad was new just for his adventures in Furoh, but he had his old notepad in his bag as well, with notes on each pokemon type. The match ended right around 10:00 AM with the Turtwig surprisingly beating it's opponents in a Speed Competition.

"That's a pretty fast Turtwig", said Alex, amused by the irony. It just went to show that with good training a pokemon could do anything.

"HHOOOOOONNNKK!!!!", then roared a horn outside. Alex, startled by the horn, fell off the bed and flat on his face.

"Ooow...", he said silently, picking himself off, "Man that horn is loud!"
----

As he had promised to his pokemon, Alex soon made his way to the pool. Walking through the hallways in his Battle Frontier-patterned swim shorts, he soon found the glistening blue pool and water pokemon playing around it. Mudkip jumped up and down in excitement, looking at Alex for permission to jump in. Alex smiled and gave him the sign that it was ok for Mudkip to have some fun. Mudkip cried in happiness and dashed over to the pool, jumping in with a splash that wet 20% of the sunbathers near the pool. Treecko and Makuhita followed, making sure the other 80% got wet as well. Finally, Alex set down his towels on a bench and jumped in last, making a large splash that probably ticked off more than a few passengers. Alex ignored the upset glares he was getting from the older trainers and continued to have fun, splashing around the pool with his pokemon like a five-year old hopped up on chocolate. Mudkip sprayed water guns left and right, wetting Alex and treecko. Makuhita, not to be outdone, punched the water making a huge splash that wet them all. Alex laughed and splashed around as well. It was clear he would never get tired of this.

Meanwhile he overheard a conversation between a woman and a ship employee. The woman had a worried tone in her voice as he spoke with the employee, who tried to calm her down.

"My wallet, my wallet has gone missing!", she said in panic. The employee tried to help her by asking questions such as "Could it be in your room?", or "Did you leave it on your chair? The lady shook her head and said "no", and the man told her that the staff was searching for it as they speak.

"Odd", said Alex, curious as to how a wallet could just disappear. He shook his head then, saying to himself that it was just a matter of a lost wallet and it didn't matter. He turned back to his pokemon then and continued to play.

As the horn sounded the boat started moving, James was ready to start his adventure he decided to go check into his room so he called his pokemon

"Muddy, Frost come on let's go check out our room."

As the Mudkip and Snover followed James he looked at his room card and the number was 106, as James and his pokemon walked to the room they saw a Nidoran run by. James guessed it was Male and didn't chase it because he didn't know the owner. As James arrived at his door he put his card in and turned the handle and it opened. The room was bright and looked beautiful. It had a great picture of Water pokemon like Totodile and Krabby's at the beach, it also had a tropical plant in a pot plant in the corner and a large HD TV on the wall and of course his bed. It looked soft so he jumped onto the bed and Mudkip and Snover followed.

James grabbed the remote and looked for a channel to watch. As he was flicking through the channels he saw the Trainers channel so he stayed on it.It was in Furoh a Pokeathlon was being held there. James was looking forward to letting his pokemon go to the Pokeathlon when he arrived. He looked at his watch as it said 10:05 AM. The boat had many hours before it arrived at Barley Port as James kept on watching he fell asleep and Snover did to but Mudkip was still awake and didn't want to sleep so it saw a small pokemon hole in the door and ran out. James was asleep while Mudkip was adventuring.

PANE Pokemon

"HOOOOONK!"

The deafening sound of the ship's horn startled Twila from her nap. So much so, that she flailed off the bed, Merle following close behind. "Oww...." she complained as she rubbed her head. Finding her legs again, she stood up and went to her bag. She was feeling like going for a swim, so she picked out her favorite swimsuit: a green and yellow bikini that was patterned to look like an Electrike. As she slipped it on, she looked around the room. It was the same as it was when she fell asleep...except. "Where's Kimber?!" Twila asked, panic quickly rising to the surface. She looked behind the bed. No Kimber. She looked in the hallway. Still no Kimber. "Oh, come on!" Twila yelled at the ceiling, not caring who or what heard her. She ran out onto the deck, wildly looking left and right. She focused her hearing, trying to listen for a hint of the blue rabbit's call, but all she could hear was some lady panicking about her lost wallet. Groaning, Twila ran round the corner, the ship's pool coming into view. That's when she saw her. Kimber was sitting by the pool, conversing with a Totodile. Twila breathed a sigh of relief, then stomped over to the blue rabbit.

Kimber glanced up at her trainer, then resumed her conversation with the little blue Pokemon. Twila huffed, put her hand on her hip and shouted, "Don't you ignore me Kimber!" Startled, the small Nidoran looked back up at her trainer, eyes wide. "You can't just run off willy nilly like that! Suppose you got hurt, or fell overboard? Don't you scare me like that again!" Twila yelled. Kimber looked down to the ground in a sincere, apologetic gesture. Seeing how sorry she looked, Twila smiled at her and said in a gentle voice, "Hey, it's okay. You just really worried me, that's all. Come on, let's have some fun!" Then, she promptly jumped into the pool, getting Kimber soaking wet (which she did not appreciate one bit). The dark haired trainer giggled as she beheld her Pokemon's bedraggled appearance.

"Maku! Makuhitaaaaaa!" Twila turned just in time to see Merle get a running start at the pool. Her eyes widened as he leapt into the pool, getting the apparently already wet sunbathers even more soaked. Twila giggled at the little Makuhita, then noticed that they weren't the only ones in the pool. A boy and his Pokemon were in the pool too, splashing around and laughing. Twila suddenly became very quiet, and proceeded to stare at a spot of color on the pool's floor. It was a fascinating spot, really...she just hoped that she could stay quiet enough so the boy wouldn't notice her... She always got so tongue-tied around guys. It really embarassed her...

It's so PANEful..

Ivan overheard the conversation of a missing wallet. At first he thought to himself:

"Why would anyone steal a wallet in a much secured ship? Hmm… this guy’s good. Better watch out for him.”

Ivan would’ve helped but he had a lackadaisical attitude because of his trip. On the contrary, he heard one of them saying that the staff was going to search for it.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Ivan got wet after a Mudkip splashed. Mao and Shivers got wet as well. His relaxing moment was interrupted and glared at the pokemon who did it.

”Relax.. Let it go…”
“It’s just a little splash…”

Good thing Ivan was in a good mood. If not, he would have caused a war. Mao looked at them, and then turned back. It was like nothing happened to him. Shivers shook him to make his fur coat dry. Shivers never bothered to attack back. Because he was so tired due to the chasing he did a while ago.

Since he heard a trainer laughing with his pokemon, Ivan got jealous that they were having fun while he and his pokemon sit down quietly and doing nothing. The jealousy of their actions was the result of his ennui. So he jumped into the pool and shouted:

“CANNONBALL!!”

Ivan asked if Mao and Shivers wanted to join him. Unfortunately, Mao can’t swim and Shivers is a ground-type pokemon so hated the water. Some people in the crowd glared at him too but not that much since it was not that strong. At least one or two of them got splashed. One of them didn’t mind but the others wanted to get him back. Ivan went to the corner of the pool because he wanted to hide from the swimmers and corners were his favorite pool spots. But he hates looking at the corner. So he laid his back onto the corner and thinks about some stuff. For a teenage boy, he likes to think more than speak. Usually, teenage boys like to talk about some things. Sometimes, they don’t think about what they say so some of them end up hurting people. He thought about what’s going to happen on his journey, or he thinks about what kind of strategies he is going to use in his battles. But this time, he thinks about what kind of pokemon he is going to catch first.

”Hmm… I should really catch a water pokemon, so whenever I go to a beach or pool, he could play with me.” “On the contrary, dragon-types are stronger…” “Nah, water’s the best choice.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Meanwhile, another valuable item was stolen.

“Oh no! My pocket watch! GONE!!”

The wealthy man’s watch was stolen after eating in the restaurant. Not much details of the story but he explained that he brought it with him before leaving his room. Then after eating at the restaurant, it disappeared. Obviously, he blamed the waiters for this but they interrogated everyone who worked there. And none of them had any clue of what happened. The staff noticed what was going on, and they knew that a thief is on board. So they announced it to all the passengers on what was going on and started another search party.

“ATTENTION: A thief is on board. So please watch over your valuables and card keys. That is all.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Ivan listened to the announcement. He grabbed a towel and ran to his room and he checked if it was locked.

“Whew. That was close.”

The Bulbasaur and Swinub didn’t notice Ivan running so they continued on what they were doing. After rushing to his room and back, he immediately told his pokemon to watch over is bag that has his card key. Luckily, they listened to the announcement too so Ivan didn’t need to explain much.

“ATTENTION: A thief is on board. So please watch over your valuables and card keys. That is all", came an announcement over the intercom system. Alex became nervous hearing about this, so he looked at his bags, and rest assured they were still there. Getting out of the pool for a second, Alex placed his bags on a chair nearer the pool so he could monitor them.

Soon Alex found he was not alone in playing in the pool. A dark-haired girl, obviously older than him, came in after him. Her splash wet a pokemon consulting with a totodile, which Alex then remembered as the Nidoran that had escaped earlier. Another boy also splashed into the pool, with his pokemon playing on the side of the pool.

Alex was more concerned with the girl however. She was being fairly quiet, and she wasn't enjoying the time in the pool as much. Alex knew she was probably just starting on her training journey as well, and was nervous about how things would be away from home. Alex decided he would try to cheer this girl up, most likely with a little help from his pokemon.

Alex swam over to the side with his pokemon, and tried to have a bit of fun with the girl. Alex's Makuhita was happy to find this trainer had a Makuhita as well, and Alex's Makuhita quickly swam over to the other to play with him. Alex smiled at this, happy that he wasn't the only trainer with one. Alex swam over to the girl, and then tried to make light conversation.

"So", he began, "What brings you to Furoh?"

'Oh no. He's coming over here...' Twila thought. Merle turned and glared at the male trainer, then forgot all about the trainer when he saw the other Makuhita in the pool. Merle squealed in delight and swam over to play with the other Makuhita, leaving Twila all alone. To make it worse, another boy had gotten in the pool, making her even more nervous. Kimber was on the side of the pool, still quite soaked, grinning at Twila's discomfort. Twila shrunk back into the corner of the pool as the boy came closer.

"So," Twila heard him say, "What brings you to Furoh?"

Twila's face turned a bright red as she said, "W-well, I'm t-trying to f-f-find this p-plant to cure m-my Ralts M-m-mai. S-she got poisoned by an-an Ariados, and the p-plant will cure-cure her." She heard Kimber snicker at her as she stumbled through her explanation. This only made her turn an even darker shade of red and turn her eyes back to that spot on the pool floor that she found so fascinating. 'Such a nice spot...' she thought, hoping that this would somehow make her invisible. She just hoped the other boy in the pool wouldn't decide to come over and try to talk to her too. She couldn't take trying to talk to two boys at the same time. She'd probably hyperventilate or something.

Unfortunately, through all of this, Twila failed to hear the announcement about the theif on board. Luckily though, her room was closed and she had left her card key with one of the lifeguards (although she wasn't sure why the shallow pool needed a lifeguard, not to mention two).

"W-well, I'm t-trying to f-f-find this p-plant to cure m-my Ralts M-m-mai. S-she got poisoned by an-an Ariados, and the p-plant will cure-cure her", the girl said with a nervous stutter. Apparently she was embarrassed about it, because she was blushing deeply. Alex tried to make the conversation easier, so he continued to talk with her.

"Well, that's interesting", Alex replied interested in the story, "An Ariados, huh? Guess it must be pretty powerful if an Antidote won't do the trick. Where you from?"

Meanwhile, Treecko noticed the Nidoran from earlier chuckling at it's trainers shyness. Treecko, sort of miffed that a pokemon could get it's sick humor out of watching it's trainer's nervous reaction to other people, decided to enact a sort of vigilante justice upon this Nidoran. Climbing out of the pool, Treecko made it's way to the Nidoran. As it pretended to pass Nidoran, it gave the pokemon a light kick, pushing it into the pool. As Treecko continued walking as though nothing had happened, it got into the pool with Mudkip, the pokemon giving each other a high-five.

"Well, that's interesting," the boy replied. He seemed genuinely interested in her story, "An Ariados, huh? Guess it must be pretty powerful if an Antidote won't do the trick. Where you from?"

Twila's face remained a beet red color as she said, "Well, it was really big, and it had yellow eyes instead of blue ones...I mean, maybe that's why the Atidote didn't work?" Twila looked everywhere but at the boy. She was so frustrated that even trying to talk to a guy made her so nervous. "I, um, am from Canalave city. My aunt and uncle and I ran the PokeMart there and- " A shriek from Kimber made Twila turn around. She had somehow fallen off the pool deck and into the pool. Twila giggled as she clambered out of the pool back onto the side, her fur all soaked and dripping, a look of disgust and shock all over her face. "Maybe that'll teach you not to make fun of me," Twila said as the small rabbit glared over at the Treeko who she swore had pushed her in. Twila giggled as she saw the Treeko and Mudkip exchange a high five. It was then that Twila remembered that a boy was right beside her. She turned back around, wide eyed and beet red again. "I...u-um...I.." she stuttered, trying to find something to say to drag attention off of her red face.

Kimber, on the other hand, was sneaking towards the Treeko and Mudkip. She krept up behind the two Pokemon, then put her front paws on their shoulders and yelled "NIIIIDOOOORAAAAN!" in hopes of scaring them.

Merle, on the other hand, was still playing with the other Makuhita, splashing and chasing it around, the occasional gleeful shriek coming from him.

Alex nodded taking in the information as the girl talked. She described that the Ariados was much larger in size than other pokemon of it's kind, and that it's eyes were yellow instead of blue. She also told him that she was from Canalave, an area where that pokemon isn't fairly common

"Hmm, that's quite the story there", Alex said, "maybe it's trainer left it there or something, because otherwise it would be impossible to explain how a pokemon native to Johto made it's way to Sinnoh."

Alex then looked over his shoulders and saw Treecko's prank unfold. The girl giggled a little, and Alex joined in. He had always been impressed by Treecko's antics, and they had often been the subject of stories he would tell to others.

"Maybe that'll teach you not to make fun of me", Twila said while smiling at the little prank.

"Oh, so that's your pokemon", Alex said then, "I saw it sneaking out when you left your door open. Your staying right next to me it seems."

While Alex had been speaking, the girl had tensed up again.

"I...u-um...I..", she then stuttered, clearly red with embarrassment. Alex smiled a bit, finding it kind of cute. After all, he was the younger one, he was talking to a girl WAY older than him.

"Hey, relax", he said to her, "have a bit of fun. We have six hours on this boat before the REAL journey begins. After that, bye-bye HD TV, bye-bye air-conditioned room, hello sheer wilderness!"
---

As Alex continued conversing with the girl, Treecko and Mudkip played together in the pool. They didn't notice the Nidoran swimming underwater bent on revenge. As it neared the two, it rose up from the water, grabbing onto their shoulders and surprising both. While Treecko only took light surprise from this, Mudkip screamed at the top of it's lungs and swam rapidly to Alex, clinging to his back for protection. When it saw what had scared it, Mudkip merely sunk into the water in embarrassment.

Alex had seen all of this, and broke into sheer laughter. It was amusing for him to see his pokemon's reaction to everything that had occurred.

"Anyways...", he said, regaining his breath from the laughter, " your a trainer and I'm a trainer, so, you want to test our pokemon's skills? My pokemon could use some practice."

PANE Pokemon

"Hmm, that's quite the story there", Alex said, "maybe it's trainer left it there or something, because otherwise it would be impossible to explain how a pokemon native to Johto made it's way to Sinnoh." Twila thought about that. It really was strange that an Ariados would be in Sinnoh if it was wild. Perhaps it was angry that its trainer abandoned it and was taking it out on other humans? It was possible.

The thought that this guy was in the cabin right next to hers was a bit of a shock. She didn't know whether to be even more nervous or to be relieved that it was someone who seemed so nice and friendly. Perhaps if she talked to him enough she could get over her nervousness around guys, at least with him. When Alex asked if Kimber was her Pokemon, Twila replied, "Well, yes, she is. Professor Rowan gave her to me, but she's kind of stubborn, and doesn't really listen to me. Professor Rowan said that I'd need to earn her respect before she'll respect me. Although I don't really know how I can do that..." Twila then realized that she had actually spoken a whole four sentences without stuttering. A realization that made her clam up instantly.

"Hey, relax", Alex said to her, "have a bit of fun. We have six hours on this boat before the REAL journey begins. After that, bye-bye HD TV, bye-bye air-conditioned room, hello sheer wilderness!" Twila giggled at his humor, and visibly relaxed to try to make him happy. He seemed nice enough, and his Pokemon were cute and funny. His Mudkip, for instance, was now floating in the water, embarrassed that it had gotten scared by a Nidoran. It was sweet that he was trying to help her relax and have fun.

Then, Alex asked her if she wanted to battle. She hadn't really gotten to battle with her Pokemon, so the thought of a battle excited her. "Sure!" she said, hopping out of the pool. Merle saw that his trainer had gotten out of the pool, so he said goodbye to his new friend and climbed out of the pool. "I'll go get dressed, then meet you outside our rooms, okay?" She grinned at him as she collected Kimber from the pool, then went off to go change.

It's so PANEful..

“Aww man… My hair’s messy…”

Ivan noticed that his hair was messy after rushing to his room to check if it was locked. He actually cares his hair more than his enjoyment. Apparently, his hair IS his joy. So he went to the changing room to dress up. His pokemon followed him too. He brought out his clothes, bathing stuff, and… a hair dryer. Yes. A hair dryer. He wants his hair to be dry all the time because he loves to fix it and style it all the time. Although it was bad for his hair to use gel or wax all the time, he still does it and he doesn’t care. On the contrary, after all those years of using those items, his hair still looks good. Probably because of the shampoo he uses.

After bathing and drying his hair, he went to his room and dumped his swimsuit and towel in a basket to avoid getting his bag wet. After going to his room, a shady character lurked slowly in the hall and Ivan was walking faster than normal, without caution, he bumped the strange man.

“Ow. Sorry sir.”

The man looked at him and his pokemon for a second and continued to walk without a single reply.

“Hmph, weirdo.”

After that strange interaction, Ivan saw a female trainer rushing to her room to change her clothes. Then, he looked back and saw that the man looked at the trainer too when she went inside. She was so in a rush so she forgot to lock her room. Then the man went to her room without even knocking. Then came back holding a small sack with circular bumps. Probably the same size of any regular pokeball.

“Uh oh.”

Ivan knew that those weren’t his. So he called out Mao even though he was right beside him.

“Quick! Use Vine Whip to grab his legs!”
“Bulba!”

Mao grabbed the strange man’s legs successfully. He tripped and dropped the sack and fled.

“What a very strange guy. Hey wait a second! That must be the thief! Maybe he was the one who stole all the other items!”

Ivan grabbed the sack and chased the man. But he ran so fast, Ivan didn't know where he turned. So he went back to the hall and waited for the girl to come out of her room and tell about what happened while she was dressing up.

HONK.

The siren had sounded James woke up and stood up and stretched. He looked around to check on his pokemon, he saw Frost but he didn't see Muddy. He looked around the room and then saw the door and the cat hole shaped to a pokemon hole. James thought it must of gone out of there as Frost followed him out the door. James saw a male trainer standing at the room only a few up. He ran past and said

"Hi."

And James kept on running. He got out to the deck and saw a Mudkip in the pool and one in the mud bath. He automatically though it was his so he went over to it and said

"Muddy. Why did you do this. What would have happened if you got stolen or attacked. I wouldn't have been able to help you"

Muddy looked sorry but looked as though he wanted to battle. James though he might as well find an opponent to battle. So he walked back to the hallway and saw the male trainer still there and he said

"Hi Nice to meet you. My name is James. James Stanley, I overheard there was a thief on board and I think I saw him a second ago but I couldn't tell. I want to catch this guy."

James looked at him and waited for a reply.

A trainer ran past Ivan and said "Hi.". But he didn't greet him back because he was running and looking for something. But he came back and said:

"Oh hi there. I'm Ivan, Ivan Scott. Nice to meet you too. You saw the thief? Well... It's hard to catch him now because he's probably hiding somewhere in the ferry. But I'm sure that we will catch him eventually." He replied.

Soon Alex found it was time to get ready for his battle It had been a half-hour spent in the pool with his pokemon, and it time to go. Alex called back his pokemon and put their pokeballs away, walking down the corridor to his room to change for his battle.

"Man, first battle outside the Frontier", Alex said to himself, "Now's my chance to prove myself, to show what I can do to the rest of the world. This is where it all begins."
----

Alex eventually found himself in the hallways near his room, passing by two trainers, he heard bits of their conversation. Both were talking about the thief on board, which everyone at the moment was nervous about. Alex had his important stuff in the room's safe, so he wasn't worried, but he did want that thief to be caught and arrested.

Alex swiped his key card and opened the door to his room. Locking the door, he got dressed for the battle, making sure to don his Battle Frontier cap for good luck.

"All set", Alex said to himself in the mirror, "Let's do this."

Alex exited his room and shut the door tight. Stepping outside, he waited for the girl to step outside for their battle. Alex, realizing he had never gotten her name, made it his intention to ask her before the battle.
