I'd still like to stick with what they have so far... I mean a caterpiller does turn into a butterfly, for a caterpie to turn into a moth is really strange for my tastes. I know it's Pokemon, but then again, Pokemon takes a lot of things from the real world.

QUOTE Wow, it actually works. I don't know what it is, but I can't see Butterfree as a poision type pokemon. But it uses poison powder. This post has been edited by Jinju: May 25 2010, 06:07 PM -------------------- |

So this summer I was out on a nature walk and we ran into the luna moth caterpillar.
Luna moth The luna moth looks like a green Venomoth, was the first thing my Pokemon-obsessed mind told me. Luna moth caterpillars, resembling Caterpie more than anything else, do nothing but eat. Luna moths, because they don't have mouths, never eat. Note Venomoth does not have a mouth. -------------------- |

I never noticed that before. I wondered why I always thought Butterfree looked off from the rest of the line. This makes it so clear

I... cannot believe I never noticed that. ._.
I can see it now, at the pokemon headquarters: "YES! The games are now out! This is gonna be huge!" "Uh, guys. Looks like these two sprites got a little mixed up.." "... Damnit." -------------------- |

This was pretty much old news to me. I've never really cared enough to think about how they might have accidentally screwed up the evolutionary lines. And the Japanese names don't really give any hints as to which would have been which, apart from Trancell to Morphon seeming to follow a pattern more than Trancell to Butterfree.
Names are not unimportant, fyi. Japanese names are still important. ;) -------------------- |

I would be with you on this... But you have to look at anime and manga too. For instance, in the one Manga book I know of that has Yellow for the main character, it's goes through the entire Caterpie chain, ending with Metapod cracking open and a Butterfree popping out. If you disagree, then you're saying they've changed everything from cards to games to show to books... Just because of one mistake they made in a simple little game that they could have just recalled, edited and put back out? I don't think Game Freak would basically completely alter the second biggest franchise in the world just because of a little mistake. Other then that, I completely with you.

Haha, saw same thing on other forum.
