So now that the starters have been released, the question is; which starter are you leaning towards?
Or are you waiting to see the final forms before making your decision?

I guess it helps to post a picture. You have, from left to right, Fennekin, Chespin and Froakie.

Personally, I love Fennekin. It's really cute and one of the best looking starters in my opinion. But I rather wait till I know all the evolutions before I chose.

I honestly like all three this Gen, but Froakie is my favorite.

This will be the first time I've gone out of my way to use the Water starter since Gen 2, which is cool. I normally use Grass.

I'm getting Froakie, I haven't used a Water starter in a while, I've been stuck in the Fire/Fighting rut for two generations, though I used Samurott for White and Emboar in White 2. A

I love the fire starter Fennekin, it looks so cute, I like the other two as well but that fox one is my favorite, and I'm not usually picky when it comes to seeing starter evolutions so I'll probably end up using each starter at some point and they will all be my favorites but right now fox is top out of the three xD

Froakie > All.

The water starters have never failed to impress me. Although I wasn't exactly too pleased with the Gen 5 Starters, Oshawott was the most bearable. These 3 are cute, though, but I prefer Froakie the best. Because frogs are awesome <3

I'll still love it even if the last evolution's name is something dumb like Toadpole ;-;

This region's starters are actually...my favorite. The only thing I dislike about them are the names, but oh well, I haven't gotten used to the peculiar spelling of "Tepig" yet anyway.
They're all pretty great, I probably wouldn't be able to decide if I didn't already have a pattern of Grass types going
when I get the game, I'm probably going to get Chespin as Grass types are the way I usually go, but that might change depending on the evolutions.

I honestly like Froakie. Fennekin is cute, and Chespin seems pretty cool, but I'm just taking a liking to Froakie. I'm not sure why, I just like him most.

Although, I'd like to see their final forms before choosing one in game.

I think all three have given me a much better first impression than what the Gen 5 starters did. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Chespin.

Fennekin is lookin good right now, but I really look forward to how Chespie plays out. Froakie's cute, but ehhhhh...

I guess I'll wait until the final evolutions are out, but I'm not certain on which I will choose at this point.

Fennikin all the way. But, Chespin looks pretty adorable, so I'll probably pick him when I start a second file. But Froakie... Are they trying to make the water types look stupid? Honestly, look at Oshawott and Piplup. I grew to love the in the end, but at the start, they just looked idiotic.

Well, my current nickname and avatar are kinda a dead giveaway of my current favorite, but it all depends on if Chespin ends up going the route I think it's going to, if he does, he'll be my first actual favorite starter out of a batch that was a grass type (Bulba was meh, Chikorita was blech, Treecko lost to the adorableness of the Kip, Turtwig lost out to Empoleon, Snivy was good but then when it turned into a snake I said forget this).

I'm hoping Chespin goes the Hedgehog route.

Right now, I like Fennekin the most, then Froakie. I didn't like Chespin though. The final decision will depend on their evolutions.

This is how my favourite starter pokemon in each generation have worked

Gen 1: Squirtle
Gen 2: Totodile
Gen 3: Torchic
Gen 4: Piplup
Gen 5: Oshawott

As you can see thats 4/5 being water types and i don't think i'm going to be breaking my love of water types this generation either,

Froakie looks awesome and is definitely my favourity, can't wait to see what the evolutions look like though

I'm probably going to be rolling with the fire-starter for the first time since the original Gold/Silver this time around. Honestly, I love Fennekin to bits.

On the other hand this is the hardest pick ever since forever for me... I think Chespin is equally adorable as Fennekin if not more and same goes for kickass-looking Froakie...

I simply don't have enough love to give for the new starters.

To be honest, I like all three of them so I can't really choose. It's the first time I've had that since Hoenn (even though I didn't dislike the Unova starters either).

But since neither my sis nor my friends who are also gonna play it are going to pick Chespin, I'll go and choose that little adorable fellow.

I'm on the Fennekin love train until we see final stages because if that furry bastard evolves into fire/fighting then I don't think I'll go with him. I'm also liking Froakie though, but I do need a break from water starters. So far Chespin is a guaranteed "no" for me.

Froakie has grown on me for the past week. I might chose it because I always pick water starters. Like everyone else, I'll have to see the whole line to decide which one is my favorite.

As it is right now, I like all three. I want to know what they will evolve into before becoming a fan, but I see myself for once being a fan of all three starters(Never had an issue with any starter overall, just generally didn't get that interested enough in them to become a fan).

Jumping on the Fennekin-love bandwagon here. Though, I'm waiting for the final evos. Froakie is a close second though, the little white "glasses" make me think of scientists and the white cloud/hair in the back kinda make me think of Einstein xP

Chespin is...meh to me. Looks too much like Oshawatt for my taste and I don't like Oshawatt.

I tend to get both versions, but Fennekin is my #1 fav of the 3, with Froakie as the 2nd.

I don't have an issue with the 3rd one, I just prefer the other two the most, but I've already worked it out with a friend to have him breed me the 3rd starter since I'll breed him froakie anyways.

At first sight, I really liked Fennekin.
Then I took a closer look at Froakie, and liked that one a lot, too.

And now Chespin is starting to grow on me as well. =_=

As always I'll probably get both games so I get two starters to chooe out of the three! At the moment I'm leaning towards Chespin and Fennekin. Not a fan of Froakie really but like everyone said, that might all change when we get a look at the evos

I don't like Chespin at all. It looks like they took Dewott, switched a few things around, and called it a starter. Though I suppose I might end up liking its evolutions, if it ends up going grass/dark like some people are speculating.

All of them are cute/cool, but Fennekin caught my eye. Normally, I would use Grass or Water type as my starter, once I used a Fire starter I ended up restarting the game (don't know why, lol), so goin' with a Fire one would be a change for me.

I'm still looking forward for their evolutions, though. I think they'll be awesome.

They all look nice, but most unevolved starters look rather cute. It's only later that they evolve into ugly monsters So wait and see.
My other thoughts:
- yet another fire fox/ Let's see how they will make it stand apart from Vulpix and Flareon. It might have some unique typing, since it certainly doesn't look like it's going to evolve the fighting way, so that would be good.
- Froakie looks ok. Now let's hope it evolves into something awesome and not a Poliwrath lookalike (I like Polywrath, but I like unique pokemon even more)
- Chespin has the most unique design of these 3 starters, in my opinion. So I'm very curious what they will come up with for its evolutionary line.

At first I liked just Fennekin, but now Chespin's growing on me. I think this gen's the first time ever where I really don't like at least the initial look of the water starter; dunno why, but to me Froakie is just... ergh. That might change once I see all three final evolutions, though.

I'm a dedicated Water Starter kind of girl, but it really depends on final evolution AND secondary types. Secondary typings will really depend on how I want my team to play out in Gen VI.

But for now, leaning towards Froakie.

I actually like all of them this gen.
I go with Grass starters normally (with the exception of Hoenn, Mudkip is still one of my favorites), I doubt this will be any exception.
Chespin I'm not so sure about at the moment, if it turns into a mole that'd be great.
But I still hate Oshawott and there's no need for another "Oh look at me I'm a cute otter" Pokemon.
Fennekin has great potential too, I'm looking forward to finding out it's secondary type. (If there is one.)

So I'll almost certainly go Grass for X, and if I get Y that's when I'll actually have to decide on something.

I dislike chespin. It bugs me. It's too cute.

I usually go with the water type for my starters, but X + Y might break the mold... I might just choose Fennekin (as long as it doesn't evolve into the infamous Fire/Fighting type).

Oddly enough, I like them all - Chespin isn't that interesting to me, as I'm not a fan of grass types, but it can potentially evolve into part dark porcupine, and that would be awesome. Armadillo would be even better.

I'll choose the fire starter though, as always. It will be great if it really is part psychic, because that's a type I rarely use and now there's a chance to cover this weakness of my team.

I'm leaning towards Froakie but my final decision will be based on their final types/final evolutions. Froakie appeals to me the most 'cause I love frog pokemon, but Fennekin looks great too. Chespin looks like it's from Happy Tree Friends. I hope they make the types Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic and Water/fighting. That would make it much harder to choose.

I've hopped on the bandwagon for Fennekin. Foxes are my favorite animal and to see a fox-starter setting there made me quite pleased. As long as it doesn't end up Fire/Fighting for the fourth time in a row...

Though I do like all the starters for this gen! For all I know something might have me change my mind later on.

Fennekin is my likely choice right now, since it's been a long time since I've even been remotely interested in the fire starter, but I actually really like Froakie's design. Chespin's cute, but to me it feels too much like a re-typing of Oshawott. Overall though, I like all three of the starters, something that hasn't happened since Gen 2, so unless they ruin it entirely with their final forms, I'll probably come to love all three.

Since we've gotten pics of the first evos for the starters, I have to say I'm still fond of Fennekin. Braixen is awesome.
Quilladin just screams "WTF?" to me and I think Froakie looks so much better upon evolution to Frogadier.

Depending on just the designs of the starters, I absolutely loved Fennekin (+1), Chespin was the meh-in between starter (+0) , and I wasn't exactly a fan of Froakie ( -1) . <.>

Now, with the release of the stage 1 evolutions, Quilladin... just no (-1). I'm okay with Braixen's design, but the stick poking out of its tail fur kinda annoys me and I personally believe it got way too feminine (+0) --but I am a female so that doesn't bother me too much ^^. Finally, the master of the stage one sixth generation Pokemon starters: Wait for it... wait for it... waaaaiiit fooorr iitt. Frogadier. It really improved on Froakie's design and just looks cool (+1).

So, now for the final tallies: Chespin/Quilladin is at the bottom of starter pool with a -1, Froakie/Frogadier is up next with a 0, and Fennekin/Braixen with a whopping 1 point!

I believe I'm going with Fennekin for Y, X is undecided.

So I just now checked out the mid evolutions and giggled for like 5 minutes over Quilladin. Chespin went from cute chipmunky thing with hat to bloated derpy looking chestnutty thing XD

I stll like Fennikin...though I defo wanna get my hands on Chespin just so I can laugh some more.

I'm sticking with Chespin too. Not that the others are bad, though . It's just that I can download Torchic and get Squirtle. A ton of fire and water types have been revealed, but not too many grass types. My fire and water choices are pretty much covered. .

Chespin... What did they do to you?! *sniff* Seriously though GF have messed my head up wrt the starters. It started out with Chespin>Fennekin>Froakie but Froakie's evo is actually pretty cool! Never thought I'd say that since I hated on Froakie so much but the design is so ninja-cool!

Ugh, not sure what to pick for them now :S

Probably going to go with my original Chespin on Y and Fennekin on X (then replay X with a Froakie).

[To be honest though, starter selection will probably pair with whatever I make my character sprite look like XD]

I love Fennekin the most. ...I've recently been getting fanfic ideas of a male Braixen wooing a female Lucario, and the female's brother (another Lucario) getting all overprotective of her and starting a fight. XD All the while Braixen is acting all "oh, you're getting burned, old boy~". XD

I'm kind of meh over Froakie's line so far, and Chespin just makes me laugh like no tomorrow. Quilladin looks like something out of Super Mario. XD

I'd originally had them Fennekin>Chespin>Froakie, but Quilladin is actually pretty cute. Fat and round, but he's a chestnut. A hedgehog-chestnut. I might get Chespin, now, just for Quilladin, and I normally detest using Grass-types because I prefer having Water and Lightning types (can't live without Gyarados).

I can't remember if I've already replied to this or not...

I am TOTALLY going with Fennekin. I can never usually choose between the fire and water type, because they are both my favourite type of Pokémon, how and ever, Fennekin is a fox Pokémon, and everyone knows I cannot resist a fox Pokémon

(Seriously, Vulpix and Ninetales are my FAVOURITIST Pokémon alongside Mamoswine!)

I'm a bit unsure about Fennekin's evolution, but hopefully it's final evolution is something special

Since the final evolutions have been leaked/revealed I am adamant about picking Fennikin...Delphox is just lovely.

Though since there will most likely be world wide trading I'll definately be getting my hands on chespin and froakie just to check them and their movesets out

I... like them all, really. Only reason I picked Chespin was the typing. However... this is the first Gen where I didn't really use my starter. Diggersby all the way

It's actually rather funny. I did not like any of them at the start, kind of just passed them over in hopes of cooler pokemon showing up that I could replace them with as soon as possible. Well, then I saw Frogadier, and I just sort of fell in love with it, and I will admit, Greninja is my favorite end-line starter as well. I could care less for the Chespin line as a whole, but the Fennekin line has grown me quite a lot. Still, Froakie is my favorite one by now, and probably one my favorite starters of all time!

There's quite a story to what I'm about to say.

I like Chespin. Not because of Chesnaught's typing or anything like that. No, Chespin was something I just knew.

Let me explain.
When the 6th gen was first announced and they had released what the new starters were like, there were a lot of people leaning towards Fennekin and Froakie. So, I checked them out and... they didn't really "click" in my head. Sure, they looked alright, but there didn't seem to be anything special about them. Fennekin was another fire fox, like Vulpix. Froakie had me thinking of Politoed. And... he's not one of my favorites.
But when I saw Chespin, I stared at it for a bit. Now, mind you, I always go for the water starter. From Gen 1-Gen 5, I had nothing but water. I had to determine whether I was going to break the chain I had built and go with Chespin or keep to the smart path and go with Froakie. It was at this time I told myself that I was going to pick this Pokemon. This was the one for me.
I even had a nickname for it. Be it male or female, it would be named Chesapeak.
I got the game.
I got Chespin.
She was a beautiful little girl. And I fell in love with her harder than anyone has ever loved a Pokemon. I cried when she fainted, and I was extremely happy when I played with her. She was the first Pokemon I maxed out in Super Training and Friendship. She is my strongest Pokemon to-date and she has been my team's mighty wall.
I love Chesapeak with all of my heart. I loved her when she was a Chespin, and when she was going through her awkward Quilladin phase (not gonna lie, I was asking Game Freak why they couldn't make one line of Starters for any generation absolutely perfect without throwing in the WTF), and I adore her now as a Chesnaught.
She was my destined Starter.

Chespin, definitely! I got mine and nicknamed him Galahad, and I adore him. *heart* The best part is how he's a total bulldozer on the field, throwing around Hammer Arms and Spiky Shields like nada, and then ten seconds later he's all sweet and cuddly like a big teddy bear in Pokémon-Amie. D'aww.

Fennekin! It was the cutest one of the three to me~ Not super thrilled that it goes bipedal when it evolves into Braxien though. n_n Would be nice if we could have a quadripedal Fire type starter, just sayin'.
