Nice! But the problem with starters is they dont have very high stats but i like how you put a little diversity in the moves especially in typhlosion Especially considering that he can't even use Ice Punch. ._. I'll be blunt; the movesets are basically terrible. Let's start with Sceptile: leaf storm Dragon tail Frenzy plant agility item:miracle seed Agility is a decent setup move, making him incredibly fast after just one turn. But all three of his other moves contradict it. Leaf Storm cripples him, forcing you to switch out next turn. This is bad. Frenzy Plant leaves your frail Sceptile vulnerable to attack for a turn. This is very bad. Dragon Tail has low priority, which means the opponent get to attack first regardless of Speed. This is really bad. Try something like these: Special: Timid Sceptile @ Life Orb/Choice Specs/Scarf 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP Giga Drain/Energy Ball/Leaf Storm (with Choice Specs/Scarf) Hidden Power Fire/Ground Dragon Pulse Focus Blast Standard special sweeper Sceptile. Hits pretty hard, and has perfect coverage with the moves listed. Shedinja can slip through if you don't use Hidden Power Fire, but other than that you're good. Grass STAB is Grass STAB. Pick whichever appeals most. Dragon Pulse is coverage against Dragons. Focus Blast hits Steel, Ice, Rock, Dark and Normal types, and has pretty much perfect coverage alongside Dragon Pulse, and Hidden Power is Super Effective coverage against a specific threat, usually. Fire for Scizor, Forretress, other Grass types, etc. Ground for Electric, Poison, and Heatran. More reliable than Focus Blast, so it can be used on Rock and Steel types too. Physical: Jolly Sceptile @ Life Orb/Expert Belt 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP Swords Dance Leaf Blade Dragon Claw/ Crunch Brick Break/ Low Kick Physical Swords Dancing set. Not as immediately powerful as the special sweeper, but catches a lot of people off guard, when they expect Specially based Sceptile, and can potentially force two switches, which works to your advantage, not to mention working off of Sceptile's much more plentiful physical movepool. Leaf Blade is a powerful STAB, Dragon Claw and Crunch are for almost perfect coverage with the Fighting-type move. Brick Break offers constant, reliable damage, and is more recommended in UU, due to things being lighter there on average, whilst Low Kick tends to be more successful against the bulk and weight of OU (Think: Tyranitar). However, if you have troubles with Dual Screening teams, Brick Break is also perfectly viable, for obvious reasons. There are mixed Sceptile sets, but they can be considered difficult to use by lesser experienced players. Next up: Typhlosion moveset: Blast burn Thunder punch Ice punch Fire punch item: charcoal Eww. Typhlosion doesn't really like any of these moves, if we're honest. Blast Burn is the same deal as Frenzy Plant, and Fire and Thunderpunch aren't very powerful. He can't even learn Ice Punch. I'm rather against even using him, as he doesn't really have much to go on. However, the Specs set hits like a dumptruck, so let's go with that. Timid Typhlosion @ Choice Specs / Wise Glasses 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def Eruption / Overheat / Fire Blast Hidden Power Ice/Grass Focus Blast Extrasensory/Nature Power Wise Glasses is to bluff the Choice Specs, and is best used with Eruption. This is about all of Typhlosion's special movepool thrown into one set. Fire STAB is STAB. Choose accordingly. Eruption is goddamn powerful, but will require hazard and weather removal, as well as likely Wish Support, due to it only staying powerful if Typhlosion's HP remains at full. Overheat also hits extremely hard, but cripples the user after one turn. However, if you simply switch out after melting whatever you just Overheated on, that's no worry. Finally, Fire Blast is a reliable STAB that doesn't alter its power. Flamethrower's also viable if you want accuracy AND reliability. Hidden Power Ice and Grass are for coverage. Ice is most recommended, for Dragons such as Altaria and Flygon, but Grass covers the ubiquitous Water/Ground types that lurk around in UU, like Whiscash and Swampert. Typhlosion will have severe trouble with them otherwise. Focus Blast is Typhlosion's 'best' coverage move. Although it's about as reliable as winning the lottery, he doesn't have many other options. But it hits plenty of Rock and Normal types that he wouldn't hit as hard otherwise, as well as having very good coverage alongside Hidden Power Ice, hitting nearly everything for neutral. Extrasensory and Nature Power are the dregs, and will likely never be used. This spot can also be used for a secondary Fire STAB, for increased flexibility. However, Extrasensory hits the Poison and Fighting types that lurk in UU. There's a lot of them. Nature Power turns into Tri Attack on pokemon online, if I remember correctly, and that can also be used for... reasonable coverage. Next up: Empoleon moveset: Flash cannon hydro pump Hydro Cannon dig Item:mystic water Also horrible. Nothing against Hydro Pump, except for its inaccuracy, but Empoleon has no business using the other moves. He wants an offensive set, such as SubPetaya, Special, or Swords Dance. SubPetaya: Modest Empoleon @ Petaya Berry 12 HP / 212 Spd / 252 SAtk / 32 Def Substitute / Grass Knot / Hidden Power Electric Agility Surf/Scald Ice Beam / Grass Knot / Hidden Power Electric One hell of a sweeper, once set up. Technically impossible to get right now, thanks to Game Freak removing all accessibility to Petaya Berries in B/W, but still useable on PO, iirc. Substitute can be dropped for an Agility three attacks set if you'd prefer. This means you can also change the Petaya Berry to a Life Orb or something. Agility boosts this Empoleon's Speed to 418, which outruns every Heatran, even Scarfed ones. Surf is reliable STAB, although Scald has been used in this set, to cripple things and keep the sub intact. Risky, but it pays off if it works. The final move is for coverage. Ice Beam for Dragons and Grass types, Grass Knot mostly for Quagsire and other bulky Waters, and Hidden Power Electric takes care mostly of Gyarados, although it's more reliable damage against bulky Waters than Grass Knot. Special Attacker: Modest/Timid Empoleon @ Choice Specs/Scarf / Life Orb / Expert Belt, etc... 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Def (bulky) OR 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP (Choice Scarf) Surf / Hydro Pump Ice Beam Grass Knot Hidden Power Electric/ Flash Cannon Utilises basically all of Empoleon's special movepool. Surf and Hydro Pump are powerful STAB. Ice Beam hits Dragons and Grasses. Grass Knot hits other bulky Waters, and Hidden Power Electric does basically the same thing, but does more against Gyarados. Flash Cannon is there as a backup STAB if you feel you don't need Hidden Power Electric. Swords Dancer: Adamant Empoleon @ Life Orb/Leftovers 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Def Swords Dance Waterfall / Aqua Jet Return / Rock Slide Aqua Jet / Earthquake Physical sweeping set. A +2 Aqua Jet hits pretty hard. Normally better left to Feraligatr, but Empoleon's different typing gives it a couple of niches over Feraligatr. Superior special bulk is also worthy of a mention. Waterfall is a more powerful STAB, if you don't wanna rely on Aqua Jet for it, whereas Return's there for pretty epic coverage if you're using both Water moves. The same applies to Rock Slide, which hits almost everything for neutral alongside the Water moves, with the bonus of hitting Flying, Ice and Bug types for Super Effective. Earthquake's in the final slot to round off Rock Slide's coverage, should you not want Aqua Jet in this slot. Bear in mind that Aqua Jet doesn't have to be used at all. It's just the main reason to use this set. Aren't really many Speed points worth mentioning for the Swords Dance set, seeing as Aqua Jet bypasses the Speed differences anyways... and finally, Flygon: sandstorm fly Draco meteor U-turn Item: Draco gem Whilst the Draco Meteor/U-Turn combo IS a good one, it's better left to Hydreigon, who has a far superior Special Attack stat. Flygon tends to look like this: Jolly/Adamant Flygon @ Choice Band/Scarf 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP Earthquake Dragon Claw / Outrage U-turn Stone Edge / Rock Slide / Fire/Thunderpunch Standard physical sweeper. Was OU before Hydreigon appeared. Earthquake is for reliable STAB, as is Dragon Claw. Outrage if you want power at the risk of being forced to Outrage into a Steel type. U-Turn is for scouting, keeping the momentum on your side, and dealing some pretty hefty damage to lurking Celebi. Generally the primary move until you know what you're up against. Finally, the fourth slot has coverage. Stone Edge hits Gyarados and Skarmory hard, but at the cost of accuracy. Rock Slide is more accurate, but less powerful. Fire Punch hits Steels, and Thunderpunch hits both Gyarados AND Skarmory Super Effectively, as powerfully as Stone Edge would hit them, with perfect accuracy. Doesn't offer much other coverage, though. Fire Blast is also useable in the final slot, as it generally hits Skarmory and Forretress harder than Fire Punch would, unless you're using the Choice Band set. ...and that should help you a little. Come back with two more team members, huh? -------------------- |
