Is there a way to buy items from players? I would like to buy 2 fresh waters. If there isn't I guess I just have to wait until the shop rotates things out.

If you have the key to the back room, which is a purchasable account upgrade, you can get items that players sell.

You can't directly buy items from other players, but if someone has sold an item, it will appear in the Backroom of the shop. If you can't find the item you're looking for there, you can go to the Pass Powers section of the shop and get the Purchase Power for 20 pass orbs to get every item stocked in the Main Shop. Of course, if you aren't in a hurry, it will cycle in and out of the shop with time as you noted as well.
