I prefer the term "Shining"... more official ground in terms of canon.
I've only obtained a Shining Whismur in Gen3, and I kept it Whismur up to level 100. Gold and Silver was way different, I have 8 Shining Pokemon sitting on one of my games (I have a game that I don't restart, and one that I do). --------------------  |

I got a shiny Poochyena and Lugia in Emerald and shiny Pidgey in FireRed. Now I did a new game on FR and I'm trying to soft reset for a shiny Lapras... No luck yet. xD

The only shiny I ever caught was a Rhyhorn in the Safari Zone. And it was brown and ugly.

I caught a shiny Whismur once in my h4x Sapphire (action replay was my friend). Then I used my billions of rare candies to level it up to a level 100 Shiny Exploud.
