Welp, we're finally starting to see more and more differences between the two games. For those of you who don't pay attention to news or just live under a rock (No offense if you do... somehow), allow me to explain the differences

This goes without saying. Every time there's a new generation, each version has a different legendary. X has Xerneas, who sports the newly created Fairy type. His Fairy Aura boosts the attack power of all Fairy type attacks on the field, including enemies!

Y has Yveltal, a Dark and Flying type based on what appears to be a Wyvern. It possesses the ability Dark Aura, which boosts the power of Dark moves on the field, including enemies moves.

In a suprising turn of events, there are TWO mega variations of certain pokemon. The X version of Mega Mewtwo gains a fighting type, more Sp and regular Attack, and gains the Steadfast ability. The Y version has a much higher Special Attack.

Charizard also has different Megas, with the X version having higher attack and replacing the flying type with Dragon type. Y once again raises Special attack. The other G1 starters may also have another version, though this is not confirmed.

As usual, each version also has different pokemon appearing. X has Clauncher, the water gun pokemon, and Swirlix, the cotton candy pokemon.

Y has Skrelp, the mock kelp pokemon, and Spritzee, the perfume pokemon.

I'm getting Y. I prefer all of the exclusives for it. That's the first time it's been an absolute wash for me.

I like the exclusive Pokemon for Y, but I'll have to wait for other version exclusive stuff to be revealed before I decide.

I looked at the official site for X and Y and found out a bit more information on Mega Mewtwo. Mega Mewtwo X adds a Fighting typing and raises both regular and special Attacks. It also adds the ability Steadfast. While the X version gives Mewtwo the ability to fight a wider variety of opponenets, Mega Mewtwo Y simply increases what Mewtwo was already known for; A ton of Special attack.

I'm going to start off with just Y (Yveltal and Mega Mewtwo Y ) , but then buy X when/if Nintendo puts the special Pokemon codes in the games (like they did with Lucario in White/Black and Hidden Ability Sinnoh starters in White 2/Black 2)

I preordered X ages ago. Xerneas looks so graceful....and I normally only pick up bird types for Fly HM fodder.

I will have to make sure and trade for Skrelp though....its adorable.

I decided to get X the moment I found out about the Legendaries. I've loved deers for ages and hey, it's a Legendary with a completely new type! Plus Xerneas is goddarn pretty to begin with~ >///<

Not to mention Yveltal looks like a dragon and I'm getting tired of all the draconic things. There are way too many of them and way too few deers (Stantler, Deerling/Sawsbuck and Xerneas are the only ones so far). ...I still want a Peryton Pokémon.

I'm going with X

My sister, Dolan The Duck, will probably get Y (though, she doesn't have a 3DS, so will probably steal the one I'm getting for my birthday in two days until she can get one herself :P), so we'll end up trading the Pokémon as usual xD

And then, if they bring out a third (or even third and fourth) game out for this generation, like they usually do, we'll get that as well xD

But I wouldn't mind getting X just for Xerneas.

Getting both but playing through Y first because I love Yveltal WAY TOO MUCH <3

I'm actually likely to get neither. I don't have a 3/2DS, so it would cost me well over £100 to get set up for either. I don't play many video games these days, so can't even argue it would be a long term investment for other games.

Don't get me wrong, both X and Y seem great from what I've seen. Mega evolutions look a lot of fun, and the whole 3D environment is beautifully done., but there's not enough to justify the £150 or whatever cost it would end up being. Plus, doing a full time uni degree and a fairly intense part time job, (and the fact I live over an hour away from both), means I really don't have 40 odd hours to be investing in a game at the moment.
