Ahh, metal. I was raised on my dad's cassettes - early Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc. I kinda stopped listening to it during my middle school years, but started listening to metal again when I started high school and heard Iron Man. It took some time to fully come into it, but once I did it was wonderful. I've considered myself a passionate metalhead for about five years now and am always discovering something new and great to listen to.

My top five subgenres are folk, power, thrash, death, and black metal, though of course I don't limit myself to those.

A few of my top bands/tracks, in no particular order:
3 Inches of Blood - 4,000 Torches - Metal (just got my 3IoB shirt today!)
Amon Amarth - Victorious March - Melodic Death Metal (the band that opened my eyes to extreme metal)
Timeghoul - Rain Wound - Death Metal (very underrated, amazing band)
A Band of Orcs - Adding Heads to the Pile - Death Metal (a band with a cool gimmick AND good music)
Abyssal - Swansong of a Dying Race - Black Metal
Agalloch - ...And the Great Cold Death of the Earth - Atmospheric Folk/Black Metal
Artillery - By Inheritance - Thrash Metal
Bal-Sagoth - Enthroned in the Temple of the Serpent Kings - Symphonic Black Metal
Be'lakor - Countless Skies - Melodic Death Metal
Bathory - Enter the Eternal Fire
Deströyer 666 - I Am the Wargod (Ode to the Battleslain) - Black Metal
Enslaved - Loke - Progressive Black Metal
God Dethroned - The Lair of the White Worm - Death Metal
Heidevolk - Gelre 838, Wychaert - Folk Metal
Legion of the Damned - Into the Eye of the Storm - Thrash/Death Metal (in love with this song)
Vital Remains - Forever Underground - Death Metal
Morbid Saint - Lock Up Your Children - Thrash Metal
Nekromantheon - Rise, Vulcan Spectre - Thrash Metal
Rebellion - Thor - Power Metal
Sinister - Cross the Styx - Death Metal
Sabaton - The Lion from the North - Power Metal
Suffocation - Infecting the Crypts - Death Metal
Summoning - Mirdautas Vras - Atmospheric Black Metal (written in the Black Speech of Mordor)
Suicidal Angels - Armies of Hell - Blackened Thrash Metal
Tantara - Human Mutation - Thrash Metal
Terrorizer - Fear of Napalm - Death Metal (amazing riff)
Vader - Amongst the Ruins - Death Metal
When Woods Make Graves - My Eyes Close as the Maw Absorbed Her Madness - Atmospheric Black Metal (I love that they used Beksinski for their album cover)
3 Inches of Blood - The Goatriders Horde (once more because I love them)
