Heey, hope it's alright that I'm creating this topic here, but it's just that I thought about having a place to talk about the Marvel comics and stuff! Since I'm a huge fan of them xD We can talk about the actual comics, or the upcoming movies, or the already-existing movies... Anyway, I don't think I've seen another topic about this, but if there is, I'm sorry! ><

- If it is okay to share this too, we can get excited about the Thor 2 release, in November. 8D I don't think I can get more excited as I already am.

So... Marvel fans, ASSEMBLE! awesome.gif

*Steps up*

yhhi.

*ahem*

Mmm, first off, not too sure if I'm going to like the movies Marvel's putting out this year. I mean Iron Man 3 was alright, it was better than the 2nd movie and felt like a throw back to the 1st which was nice. That stunt they pulled with the Mandarin had me howling with laughter, but as for the other two movies they're putting out this year...well, I'm cautiously optimistic about The Wolverine. I mean I hope it's way better than that previous-disaster-that-shall-not-be-named, but so far the trailers have stricken me as another generic flick with copious amounts of gravity defying action. As for Thor 2, I'm not sure if I'll go see it. I don't dislike the Norse God or anything, it's just I've never been a fan.

Then on the other side of things, what's been going on with the comics? That whole 'Marvel Now' thing's been an unmitigated failure in my eyes. It's like Marvel's answer to DC's 'New 52,' & in that similar thread, they've literally gone and said a big 'screw you' to former plotz. I'm not buying this change at all.

I fell out with most things after The Avengers movie landed and basically changed everything (I mean a new 'black' Fury, really?! ) and I used to only keep tabs on Uncanny X-Force, but since that relaunched and the buck was past from Rememder (a legend <3) to Sam Humphries (p#%&k), I'm finding it really hard to like the new team. (Fantomex... sad.gif ) I haven't checked out Marvel's latest event, 'Age of Ultron' yet so I'm going to hold myself from looking into that for a rainy day. But last year's Avengers vs X-Men was good...until the fall-out came and basically changed the majority of books. Psh.

Oh hey, thanks for coming here! grin.gif

Well, it always gets a little 'tense' when new movies and stuff are about to come out, there's always a lot of doubts and discussions, but I think that before we jumped into conclusions we should actually PRAY for them to be good. LOL I don't really have a negative view on some movies, but I do understand what you mean. Many people disliked Iron Man 3 -ESPECIALLY because of the Mandarin - but me, myself, I quite enjoyed the movie. I mean, it wasn't 100% perfect, but which actual comics-movie is? I enjoyed watching it, there was action, fun, suspense and classic Tony humour so it is a good movie to watch. cat.gif Now the X-Men franchise... It's... A little more complicated. noes.gif I loved how you used the "previous-disaster-that-shall-not-be-named", it made me giggle. xD But, I'm afraid that if they plan on recovering from the so spoken failure, they'd had to do a GIGANTIC and MARVELOUS ( no pun intended ) work.
Well, I've always been a fan of Thor and Norse Mithology myself, and I'm really excited to see what they will come up with, but it's alright that you don't precisely 'like' it, everyone has their opinion and I'm glad you're sharing yours with me! cat.gif

Ah... How I dislike all those drastic changes... I agree with you completely, and like it wasn't bad already having to follow EVERY single plot and universe they've made. LOL My brain is complaining.

I like the Avengers as a whole but I do again understand what you mean. It was a radical 'change' and many people have the same point of view as you. But then again, I enjoy it a lot and I look forward to what they will do next based on that theme. But there's always that chance of failure xD
Anyway, sorry to hear things haven't been so satisfying to you overall! It must be a real bummer. ;^;

I have to say I'm super excited for Thor 2. I'm keeping my expectations low and my hopes high, and hopefully it'll fall somewhere between the two. happy.gif

As for comics, I've been getting more into them but, well, without a comic book store nearby there's only so much I can do. I've read the first Thor 2 prelude comic, about half of the new Hawkeye from Matt Fraction, and Kid Loki's Journey into Mystery run (and then a bit of Marvel Now's Young Avengers following that) so I can't really say much about what they're doing/changing. But I can say that I'm still upset about that JiM run. It was great, but I am emotionally scarred. :|

@Arkie: Hey there! x3 That's good, it's the same way I'm feeling! But I'm pretty sure that movie will be the end of me. I just don't know if it's in the good way, or bad way

Aaah, same here. noes.gif There's no Comic Book Store here so I just rely on some books my uncle has, but that's kind of not enough for me xD I'm hoping to get a job soon so I can start buying comic books like crazy. I want to see EVERYTHING of Kid Loki's Journey into Mystery and also the classic Avengers. xD I own a issue #1 of it ( but it's sort of a re-posting, same drawings and all but with shading and stuff ) and I need to have the others aaaaaaargh. I dream of having an Spiderman comic collection too. *-*
Oh my o_o Now I'm scared. XD

Well so far I enjoyed X1 & X2, X3 was a mess but the series redeemed itself with X-Men First Class. Ah, good, I do aim to please! From what I heard, they're basing it on Frank Millar's limited run, which I own and have read, along with lots of other 'retro' wolverine stores. But straight away I can see them drawing from other stories and mixing it up a little (I saw elements of the limited series 'Logan,' but Mariko's father never appeared in that, also Silver Samurai's a mech? Really? And I could go on...), which, in small doses, can be nice. Ah, well, only time will tell, and if anything draws me to this up-and-coming-flick it's the supposed cameo of Jean Grey. (Wowza!)

Well, at least for now I'm going to delve into older avengers tales. Secret Wars I is always a big favourite of mine. Back then Marvel actually knew how to make an excellent 'event' happen.

It is, but as ever, there's no point in lamenting what's been done. It's a matter of 'like it or lump it.'

Have you considered buying digital comics? There's no comics store near me so I've had to buy all my stuff digitally if I wanted to check something out. Comixology has a very good digital store, and it's always updated early on the day of release of a comic.

I know that they're making an 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' movie currently and that the person who plays mystique gave up on making the third hunger games movie to make it. I don't know where it fits into the X-Men film-verse though...

QUOTE(ThunderFox)

If you can, you should get it! I'm sure there's a TPB out that collects all the 12ish issues. It's a real treat to read and one of the after affects was Spider-Man donning the black suit for a spell. It's very text-heavy though but it certainly was the better of the two 'Avengers vs X-Men' clashes.

There's also a Secret Wars II out althought that was more about Nick Fury taking a group of heroes to Latveria and going at it with Doctor Doom. I can't remember much more than that but I really loved the artwork. The same art style was used again in X-Force; Sex & Violence, and I do love the artist so.

Wow, I had heard something about a sequel and such but I didn't know Jennifer Lawrence gave up her part just to make it! Wow! She must really like playing Mystique! But I liked her acting as her, so YAY! xD

I think it was more to do with schedule restrictions. She's an actor in high demand these days~

Well, defo get it at any rate.

Though, I have to correct myself. I've been mentioning 'Secret Wars II' this whole time when I really meant this. Do get this if you can, too. It's worth it for the art and for seeing Wolverine getting his heart blown up! cackle.gif

What other storylines do people enjoy?

Another classic fave of mine is 'Avengers: The Crossing' wherein Tony Stark becomes a reaaal mean guy. The ending may have sucked serious eggs, but that time when you saw that 'dark side' to Tony was both shocking and interesting. I mean he even kills a person outright, and things only get worse from there. The event has one of my favourite panels in a comic ever and also features one of my favourite versions of Stark's Armour ever. For better and worse, I really liked it!

Also, has anyone checked out that Deadpool game yet? I know it's early days yet but so far I've heard it is really short and has some really short cutscenes. I know this is Deadpool and all, but I'm going to wait for a price drop before I even consider getting it. I had it preordered but then I switched my preorder to getting AC IV for PS4.

Woah, just because I was complaining about not having a comic book store nearby I found some Marvel comics on a Library/Book store near my house! WOW! I never knew they were there, or they just started selling them there now... Either way, the only thing left to do is to get some money! x'D
But yes, I do want to have it <3 Even though I found those comics, I was still thinking about buying some on the internet as well... Or even finding a place to read them online. You're really making me curious about it! XD But OMG poor Wolverine! LOL

I've heard about that "Avengers: The Crossing" too! And how Tony gets bad XD But I'm sure it gives a pretty cool experience of seeing his 'dark side'! And wow... That panel is just epic!! *-*~ If you liked it, I'm sure I will do so too!

Oh, I know about that game! Even though I don't own it, I've heard about it too. People say it's short but it's cool and fun, too xD And that there's even a song for him? Lol
I see! xD I understand, I'm also working on getting some money to see if I can get Kingdom Hearts III. >u<

I kinda wished she stuck with Hunger games for the last film of the trilogy. Sure, the book ain't as great as the other two & I still haven't finished it but we've waited this long for another X-Men movie, so if they had put it on hold I wouldn't have minded in the slightest.

I haven't been to a library near my house outside of my school's library in years. But, the last time I was there they had some manga in stock but no comics. Ah well.

Comixology, Midtown comics, and about a half dozen more, most of which are stateside are sites that sell both hard copies and digital editions of issues. However, I've only ever bought digitally from Comixology, though.

It pleases me to know that, haha.

It is when it gets to a stage where it's him verses everyone else. but, like I said before, there are parts of the event that are either strange, random or simply lame. Take everything with a piece of salt, I recommend.

There's plenty of easter eggs galore, I've heard. Yup, it's in the end credits. Sounds like a throwback to retro action movies.

I don't think she's leaving the hunger games movies, as all the articles about that were written on April 1st.

I'm not a comic reader, but I'm anxiously awaiting Thor 2. Like some girls, I became one of those Loki obsessed ones and can't wait to see what happens next. ;-; I'm hoping it won't be as disappointing as Iron Man 3.

Dammit, why didn't I look at the date... >>;;

There's no question that Tom Hiddleston is a fantastic actor. He made me grow to like the character a lot. Mmm, given the trailers, I wonder why Thor would go to him for help.

I had the privilege of watching it the MINUTE it got released, along with a bazillion people from Tumblr who were waiting along with me. xD I surely had the most intense goosebumps. In every Loki part. SQUEE!

My mother even thought I was having some kind of anxiety attack for the way I was squealing and screaming and muffling my screeches x'D I have no regrets

...But, I know what you mean. ç.ç It'll be a pain to wait until November now. Cry with me?

As with any Marvel movie, I'm so very excited! I loved the first one and I'm hoping Thor 2 can match up with Iron Man 3 because I fangirled so hard during that lol. I'm dying to see this and also Kick Ass 2, which is out soon-ish I think.
