I searched and I don't think a topic like this exists, so , in your opinion, what's the creepiest/scariest music you've ever heard in a game?

Mine is the castle music from Super Mario Bros.

That may be kinda lame, but I could not play any castle level without turning down the volume. It creeped me out so much. @_@

Hmmm... Metroid Fusion had some creepy songs, like when SA-X appeared. Probably some of the music that creeped me out the most.

Remembered another one.

The X-Files theme in the game X-Files for PS2 if I remember correctly. That song creeps me out... AND IT PLAYS EACH TIME YOU'RE IN THE PAUSE MENU. @_@

I just found my creepiest song ever.... And I'm listening to it right nooooow... It's like someone's behind me each time I hear this song.

I'm not sure if any of you have heard of the PC RPG Dungeon Lords, but...
The "tune" that plays in the town of Fargrove is creepy... It sounds like a bunch of discordant clangs and such. Brrrr.... I have a tendency to jump a little whenever I've been playing that for awhile and my parents call me. Especially if I'm playing a dungeon area. An example of a typical exchange:

Mom or Dad: *tells me it's time to go to bed*
Me:
Mom or Dad: What's wrong?
Me: You startled me! I must have been playing this for too long...

The music when you're fighting or near an enemy in LoZ: The Windwaker. Combined with the dust devil's calls, really creepy. And the Old Chateau in pokemon, sorta.

The Witch encounter music from Left4Dead, EASILY.
Combined with the sound of her crying, it just creates such an insanely tense and creepy atmosphere. XvX

Spider Queen's Extermination - Okami.
It's creepy because when you fight her it's silent except for a few windchimes and her groans, feels like something is going to pop up and attack you. ;~;

You mean the recording of "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin (apparently done with violins) that plays when you enter the lighthouse?
I thought it was kind of nice, to be honest.
I think in terms of creepyness the music that plays when you're wandering around Arcadia that isn't licensed music is a winner. I feel like I'm stepping into the nest of some sort of hueg insect whenever I hear it. It's on the OST and it's called "Step Into My Gardens".



Yesyesyes. Especially Scarlet Fitch's theme from Homecoming.

And to whoever said Fatal Frame, I'm with you on that as well. For me, it's especially bad in FF3, when most of the background music out of battle consists of either the Sleeping Priestess "lullaby" or the lonely moan of the wind.

It came on after Strawerry Fields forever, of all things. (It was in shuffle...)

Whut? No one's mentioned the Altering Cave music in Emerald? Well didn't think anyone would... seeing as no one bothers with that place anyway. But still, if you have time, fish out your old Emerald cartridge and listen to it. God, it's sooo creepy for a cave filled wit Zubat.

...Remembering the music is giving me the heebie jeebies. Altering Cave + 3:00 in the morning DO NOT mix.

The only music that ever got me the slightest bit unnerved was whatever music was playing in DMC , when the puppets just keep coming. I had my screen accidentally on dark, and I could only see when I shot the guns, so they popped up at random for me, with my only warning being that deep red opening on the floor. Playing alone, at like 3 AM, in a dark room...

Though I admit I haven't played Dead Space yet, I imagine that's pretty creepy.

The witches are hot......in a zombish way...I jsut wonder why it is only wearing a Bikini when its roaming. I mean,what it hates clothing?

And the tank theme has a right to be scary.

The tanks are ridiculously strong and hard to beat whne alone. Good luck in small area's,Solo peeps.

Going to have to agree with you on this one! Goodness, Third Eye gives me the chills. It's so suiting for such a strange, creepy character, though~ Hartmann's Youkai Girl is equally freaky, if you ask me. I love the... rhythm.


I finished EarthBound for the first time recently, and I have to say that I was really alarmed by the Giygas battle music. xD Not "Pokey Means Business", but the second and third stage themes. I guess there is a bit of a rhythm, enough to call it a song? Very good piece for such an emotional, frightening battle.
(Even if the actual battle itself was really easy. A friend said that I got really lucky. :c)

Resident Evil has some creepy stuff, as well as Dead Space 2 (got the soundtrack, yeah), and Condemned. Fuck, condemned just makes me shiver altogether. Just looking at pictures of it makes me scared.

I don't even know, but the one that comes to mind immediately is the Fire Temple music from LoZ: OoT for the N64... Listen to the song and think about it. :P

Also voting for Termina Bay and Pokemon Tower. Although Pokemon Tower isn't nearly as creepy. Probably the most creepy part is the one Channeler who says "Give... me... blood..."

Most tracks of Lament of Innocence's OST, now that I think back on it, are very creepy in game. It makes sense because it's Castlevania, but it's also chilling regardless because it's purely atmospheric music with not much melody.

It's a simple tune, and only 40 seconds long, but it's really creepy and unnerving.
