Well, you can use the Iv Calculator on Serebii or Psypokes. Also, Iv's are determined at Hatch and Catch, you can't change them no matter what. Iv's help determine your Final stat with Ev's.

But, to use a calculator like this one, you have to know the EV's of a pokemon first. Or if you just got it, put in 0.

QUOTE To calculate IVs in Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed, all you have to do is follow a simple equation: ((Math.Ceil(Stat / Nature) - 5) x 100 / Level) - 2 x Base Stat - Math.Floor(EV / 4). Math.Ceil means to round up. Stat is your current stat number. Nature is the nature's effect on a certain stat (Adamant is 110% Attack, 90% Special Attack, so if you wanted to calculate Special Attack, you'd put .9). Level is your current level. Base Stat is a Pokemon's base stat of a certain stat (Shuckle, for example, has 20 Base HP). Math.Floor means to round down. EV is your current EV investment. So, if I were to attempt to calculate my Garchomp's IV in speed... Garchomp, Jolly nature, 252 EVs in Speed ((Math.Ceil(333 / 1.1) - 5) x 100 / 100) - 2 x 102 - Math.Floor(252 / 4) ((303 - 5) x 1) - 2 x 102 - 63 298 - 204 - 63 = 31. There you have it. My Garchomp has 31 IVs in speed. Hoo-rah! To calculate HP IVs, you have to use a different equation. ((Stat - Level - 10) x 100 / Level) - 2 x Base Stat - Math.Floor(EV / 4) Again, stat is your current stat number, level is your current level, and...I think 10...is a number (inside joke sorta). Base Stat is the base stat of the Pokemon (look at the bottom of any Pokemon's 'dex entry on serebii.net to find out its base). Math.Floor means to round down. EV is the amount of EVs you put into that stat (in this equation, it'd be HP). So let's do Blissey with 252 HP EVs. ((714 - 100 - 10) x 100 / 100) - 2 x 255 - Math.Floor(252 / 4) ((604) x 1) - 510 - 63 604 - 510 - 63 = 31 Yes, it's confusing. You need to know your Nature, any EVs (you can use the EV-reducing berries to bring everything back down to zero and try to calculate it there), and your Pokemon should generally be at least Lv. 50 before trying to calculate it due to how the equation works. It can be lower than Lv. 50, but your results won't be as accurate. Of course, being Lv. 100 always yields 100% correct results. -------------------- |
