Posted by: Dark Knight Jul 17 2007, 04:22 PM

Harry Potter is complete crap. The only reason they're not on my list is that I could only stand to watch one and a half of them.

In the 4th HP, they made the plot much more obvious (i.e. The use of Pollyjuice Potion) and left out important parts (The chapter describing Picori Incantatem, etc.).

. Various crappy films we used to be made to watch at school

Posted by: Richarizard Dec 11 2008, 11:48 AM

Off the top of my head probably 'Leon' would be my favorite film - Gotta' love big scary itallian assassins.

And as for my least, it would have to be "The fifth element"...
That movie made me want to punch people. ]:

Posted by: Flamer Dec 11 2008, 04:17 PM

Had some mates round at the weekend and we watchedCloverfield. Bit of a weak plot, with loads of gaps, (how the hell did the monster get there in the first place was probably the biggest), but it was still very enjoyable. Really clever how they did the whole thing through the video camera. When first heard about it I thought it would be insainly annoying, but it was really well done and added to the whole tension and that kinda stuff. I think one to add to my faves list happy.gif

Posted by: Pumpkin King Jan 13 2009, 04:03 PM

Here's yet another revision of my favorite movies. The first two are my absolute favorites, the rest are other favorites in no particular order.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

Edward Scissorhands
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
Big Fish
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
James and the Giant Peach
Pirates of the Carribean series
Hairspray (2007)

Yes, I do like Tim Burton. Yes, I mean the new Chocolate Factory movie. If I meant the older one, I would've typed "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." No, Tim Burton did not ruin it. His film should not even be compared the older movie. And yes, I will probably revise this list for a third time.

Reason for edit: I misspelled "Tim." >_>

Posted by: Pixie Feb 19 2009, 07:23 PM

My favorites are, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Hero, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Memoirs of a Geisha. I don't have any movies that are my least faves that I can remember.

Posted by: mauser Feb 21 2009, 08:53 AM

i like older movies, particularly british cinema and film noir.

http://www.listal.com/list/favorite-movies-mauser, hosted by the wonderful website http://www.listal.com/.

to put a few here, my top favorites are: the ladykillers (1955), brazil, being there, the lavender hill mob, night and the city (1950), kind hearts and coronets, blade runner and the original pink panther movies.

my least favorite films are remakes, particularly of "classics". ugh nononono.

Posted by: Luukas Apr 1 2009, 03:13 AM

I'm not gonna explain why I like my favorite movies, because there are so many it would take me ages.

Favorites: Brokeback Mountain, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Boondock Saints, Go, Fight Club, The Blues Brothers, From Dusk Till Dawn, Reservoir Dogs, Shoot 'Em Up, Sleuth, Four Rooms, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Road to El Dorado, Cursed, Deep Blue Sea, Dead Silence, The Blair Witch Project, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Moulin Rouge!, Amélie, Army of Darkness, Small Town Folk, The Mummy, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Hellbent, Rest Stop, The Breakfast Club, Doom, Die Hard, Stranger Than Fiction, Rain Man, Grimm Love, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, The Brothers Grimm. I could add even more to the list.

Least favorites:
The Exorcist. I don't like it, because I've heard so many people say it's the scariest movie they've ever seen, and I just can't see anything scary about it.
The Crash. I don't really hate this movie, but it's one of my [few] least favorite movies because it won the Oscar for the best picture over my number one favorite movie, Brokeback Mountain, so when I was going to see it for the first time I was really exited 'cause I expected something super amazing. So watching this movie was really disappointing. I found it way too predictable, and there were too many characters so I didn't feel like I knew them, and therefore I couldn't relate to them.

Posted by: Blackie Apr 1 2009, 10:40 PM

-Psycho
-Aliens
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (my guilty pleasure, and the movie I grew up with as a child)

-Napoleon Dynamite (I just... don't get what's funny about it)
-Eragon (They destroyed the book. Destroyed it.)
-The third Pirates of the Caribbean movie
-X-Men 3

Off hand, my favourite movies are...

~Iron Man (Stark is so damn hawt. Dx.gif)
~Transformers 1 & 2 (Featuring transforming robots that smash things, it's just bound to be epic.)
~Ghost Rider (Lulz, Grim Reaper Caijin style.)
~Snakes On A Plane (I loved it whenever the coloured cop dude got pissed off)
~Dodge Ball (So bloody funny, full to the brim with good jokes & gags)

And ones that I would absolutely hate would be:

~War Of The Worlds (Newest version. I hated when that young girl kept fucking screaming EVERY FIVE FRIGGIN' MINUTES!)
~The Day The Earth Stood Still (Your typical Adam & Eve story with over-the-top special effects thrown into the mix.)
~Cloverfield (No. Just no. An epic fail of a Sci-Fi horror. Let's just leave it at that.)

Posted by: Doozydoe Jun 19 2009, 06:25 PM

I watch a lot of movies, but it's hard for me to sort which are my favorite from the movies I just like right now.

Movies I hate
The Dark Night: Batman Begins was much better. The only performances I really liked in the movie were Ledgers and Eckharts(IMHO he was underrated).
Watchmen: I had high expectations for this movie; the graphic novel is probably the best I've read. The movie(theatrical release at least, not sure about the directors cut) was a bastardization of the GN. It should have been made into at least two separate films. Probably would have been 10Xs better.
Juno: Simply didn't find it funny.
Cloverfield: Bored me to death
X-Men Origins: Wolverine: Bored for a good portion of the movie, and whatever they turned Wade Wilson into made me wanna cry.
Most Pixar movies(Love Toy Story 1&2, Monsters Inc, and The Incredibles): Different reasons for each, I prefer not writing them all down.
Most kids and horror movies: Read Pixar
Most musicals or dance movies: I hate the singing and dancing.
Don't feel like writing anything else down.

Mind you, the classic Disneys are much better, but Pixar brought a new wave of movies to Disney. Pixar didn't kill Disney considering that it's still running very strong and it's still at the top. Disney Channel killed Disney.

I love movies and try to watch at least one every night. My most recently viewed was The Invention of Lying, which had an Edward Norton cameo (favourite actor, yay) so that was fun. :P It was also hilarious.

My favourite movie of all time is Fight Club and it is not to be outdone by any other. However, there are some close ones, just under it...

V For Vendetta
Sunshine (the one with Cillian Murphy and Chris Evans)
X-Men Series
Star Trek 2009 (mostly because I am in love with Zachary Quinto)
Star Wars Series
Batman Begins / The Dark Knight
Zardoz
Dune / Children of Dune (miniseries)

My favourite actor is Edward Norton, as stated, and I also love Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, Hugh Jackman, Zachary Quinto, James McAvoy, James Marsden, Famke Jannsen, and Paul Rudd... so I tend to watch a lot of movies with any of those people in them. :P

Likes: Harry Potter 1-6, although with number 6 they added a part in the middle that shouldn't have been added
Also: Mulan (which our school is doing a production of), Pokemon 1 and 2 because they have Misty, who rules, and the Avatar the last Airbender TV movie, because I am obsessed with that show.

Dislikes: Eragon, because they completely, totally, and 100% RUINED the book! Eragon's gedwey ignasia should have been a silvery patch on his hand, not a scar that looks like a coiled dragon in the shape of an "e", Arya was supposed to have black hair, pointed ears, and green eyes, and be passed out from poisoning when they found her, not able to walk, talk, and help with the campsite, Saphira was supposed to have wing membranes, not feathers, Urgals were supposed to have horns, there were supposed to be dwarves in the movie because they play a tremendous role in the second and third books, the Ra'zac were supposed to have beetle-like faces, not beetle-covered faces, and Galbatorix was not supposed to appear at all! I had to stop three-quarters of the way through because I just couldn't keep watching it! Thank you for letting me rant a bit, I just do not like that movie and I extremely discourage anyone with any plans to read the book from watching that movie.

I'd have to say The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride and the Star Wars saga. Those would have to be my absolute faves. Speaking of which I can't wait until the newest version of Alice in Wonderland comes out, Tim Burton is directing it this time! grin.gif

Posted by: Lanee Dec 18 2009, 10:59 PM

Any classic Disney movies (Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, etc.), the Star Wars Saga, PotC, Robin Hood and the Prince of Thieves (the Kevin Costner/Morgan Freeman movie, not BBC series), Harry Potter (for the most part - the only single movie that I would count as one of my all time faves is the sixth one).

As for least favorites...

TWILIGHT. GARGHHHH.
Eragon.
I actually don't think I've watched any movies I just downright hated... I'm sure I'll think of some later.

Let's see...

Favorites:
Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Transformers (2007)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) <-- I see a pattern here. laughing.gif
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Wall*E

Least Favorites:
Spider-Man 3 (Emo dancing Spider-Man. Why? Just why?)
Mars Attacks! (It was a bit too repetitive.)
Cool World (A poorly done Roger Rabbit knock off. Just no.)

On the Fence:
Cloverfield (Great movie, but I had vertigo for weeks after watching it. Watch it at your own risk.)

Likes: Ice Age (1-2-3); All pokémon movies; Toy Story; MIB (1-2); Gekijouban Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann: Guren-Hen and some other those I can't remember the name right now ._.

Dislikes: All Disney Movies made for teenagers those have the same story, EVER.

And I think I won't like The Lightning Thief. I've read the series until The Titan's Curse (The fourth and fifth book haven't been published until now), and the movie has a lot of errors, like Annabeth's hair and weapons (in the movie she has black hair and an arrow-launcher, and in the book she's blonde and has a knife), and the fact that the movie has the Hydra, even the fact that Hydra just appears in the second book. noes.gif

Tropic Thunder. Won a HMV voucher in school yesterday and decided to buy the movie along with Transporter 3 with it. It is so stupid it's actually quite funny. And Downey's hilarious as a black dude. xD

As per usual, I'm going to be updating this list with new movies.
I'll try to go in order from greatest to least.

Favorites:
1. Memoirs of a Geisha
This is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite movie. I love it. It's so well-done, everything is so beautiful, and it features a culture few outsiders have ever experienced. Rob Marshall is my favorite director.
2. Chicago
As stated above, Rob Marshall = love. And this movie was the last great musical movie. The first Best Picture winner since Oliver and the last musical to win Best Picture. The cast was perfection, and it did great justice to a Fosse classic.
3. Beauty and the Beast
To this day, this movie is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I loved it when I was 3, and I love it now as an 18 year-old. The transformation still sends shivers down my spine.
4. Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
It's the prime 70's cheesy movie that you love. It pays great homage to my favorite musical and Ted Neeley is God.
5. Rent
Rent still is one of my favorite Broadway shows, and it was amazing to see almost the entire original cast return. It certainly wasn't the best movie made but it did great justice to the show. I disliked Adam Pascal's long hair, though, but it was amazing either way. And the alternate ending made me cry. Fact.
6. Angels and Demons
I never read the book. But I loved the movie. Tom Hanks is amazing. Ewan McGregor is amazing. Hans Zimmer is amazing. I love this movie.
7. Aladdin
My second favorite Disney movie of all time. I love every song, I love every character. And I love Lea Salonga.
8. The Picture of Dorian Gray
It's interesting to see someone as popular as Angela Lansbury before she was popular. This movie is a timeless classic, almost as timeless as Dorian himself.
9. The Nightmare Before Christmas
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Enough said.
10. The Godfather
The first is the best and has always been the best. I love this movie. I love the series, but I love the first in general because it shows the slow descent of Michael Corleone into madness.

Least Favorites:
1. Watchmen
I hated the movie. I hated it. I hated it. It was a combination of big blue penis, unnecessary gore, and oversexed superheroes. It was the most painful movie I ever had to sit through. And it was too long.
2. Napoleon Dynamite
It's so high because it's got such a cult following but it was such a godawful movie. It wasn't funny, it was pathetic. Jon Heder is not that funny.
3. Stranger than Fiction
Everything about it was just pathetic. I can't stand it.
4. Borat
Same with Napoleon Dynamite. It wasn't funny. It was pathetic.
5. All the Pretty Horses
It paid no homage whatsoever to the book. I love Matt Damon and I love Penelope Cruz but this movie was just awful. Not to mention the substitute teacher the day we watched it was reading aloud even though we all read the book. He only stopped when he got to the sex scene, thank God.
6. Any Disney sequel not named Toy Story
The Disney sequels that weren't from Toy Story were just plain awful. Poor plotlines made them unbearable. Especially the Beauty and the Beast one.
7. Madagascar
I can't even explain how awful it was. I didn't laugh. At all.
8. X-Men: The Last Stand
Hi, thanks for murdering the Dark Phoenix storyline.
9. Facing the Giants
This should be higher. The acting was awful and the plot was predictable. Not to mention the STONE WALL! STONE WALL!
10. Couples Retreat
It was not funny. At all.

Favourites;
- Spirited Away (I've loved it ever since the first time I watched it. I've seen it several times and I still love it!)
- Happy Feet (It's just so cute, and a great story despite some of it dragging on a bit.)
- Surf's Up (I love the mokumentry feel, and the humour! The jokes, followed by serious moments, are great.)
- March of the Penguins (Alright, I'm probably showing how much I loved penguins here. I've never loved a documentry as much as I loved this one!)
- Avatar (I don't care if it's overrated, I don't care how similar the plot is to Pochahontas. I just love the special effects, the characters... -sigh-)
- Toy Story 1/2/3 (One of my big childhood loves, I was so satisfied with the ending of #3! I thought they would butcher it making it so many years later, but I still loved it.)

Least Favourites;
- Harry Potter , Goblet of Fire onwards (I loved the books. I didn't mind the first two movies, and the third one was alright. From the fourth one onwards, it lost it. The changes, the darkness... I even managed to fall asleep during the sixth one!)
- The Lord of the Rings (EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to watch them I either fall asleep or lose interest. Same thing with the books, actually.)

That's all I can think of right now happy.gif

Toy Story 3 - So well made, just awesome
American Pie Series - Funny as
Tears of the Sun - Very sad movie of war in Africa
Freddy VS Jason - Yay horror villians killing each other.
Avatar - Dont need to explain
Vacancy - Such a sick minded horror. Scaring people half to death then filming it into a movie with them getting killed in the end for years and years is just sick. Love the characters though. So well acted out.
The Grudge 1,2,3 (Yes I like my horror) - Just a perfect creepy ass movie.
28 Days Later - I was going to put Dawn of the Dead, but this by far had the best and most realistic story line. A must see zombie movie!

And I cant remember anymore

Likes:

Star Wars episodes IV, V, VI before they were redone. God I hated the way they replaced the way Anakin Skywalker's ghost originally appeared with how he looked in Episode III. I can understand smoothing out the F/X, but there wasn't any real need to add some of the scenes.

Most of the Harry Potter movies
Gone With the Wind (long but amazing film).
Blazing Saddles - sadly a movie like this could not be done today because a lot of it is not "pc." What many people don't seem to realize is that it makes fun of racism and stereotypes (think "All in the Family").
Fanboys - makes fun of Star Wars fans; my 8 yr. old son is addicted to SW to watching this cracks me up.
40 Year Old Virgin
The Hangover

God, there are so many others I can't think of.

Hates:

Twilight. Sorry, I didn't like any of the characters, the acting overall wasn't very good, too many plotholes, and vampires that sparkle makes me cringe.
Napolean Dynamite
Land of the Lost
Legion - worst movie I've ever seen. We went to see it because Avatar was sold out. Two of us fell asleep.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Try to stay away from movies I'll hate/dislike or whatever. As such only one comes to mind for that category: Punch Drunk Love - gawd awful boring. Superman Returns - literally fell asleep half way through (never fell asleep during a movie before or after that). Oh, and Napolean Dynamite - couldn't even watch a third of it before I was done.

I don't really like watching movies, but my favorite movie is The Clique. I like it because it's the movie for my favorite series of books. I watched The Clique so many times when I borrowed it from the library. I even memorize some of the lines they say. I want to get it again sometime soon and watch it. I don't have any movies I dislike since I'm not really a movie watcher.

My absolute favorite movie forever is Call of the Wild, the old anime movie. Other movies that I've liked over the years are Robin Hood (2010), Gladiator, Gake no Ue no Ponyo, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, the Others, Inception, and Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer. I recently watched both The Last Unicorn and Plague Dogs which also were brilliant. Oh, and the Watership Down is awesome too.

I'm sure I forgot a big bunch of the movies I like. I often first remember the animated movies and the others comes later in my mind. :'3

Finding Nemo will always have my love.

17 and still love it.

I'm actually so so so excited because apparently there's going to be a Finding Nemo 2, Monsters Inc 2 and an Ice Age 4! grin.gif I love 2012.

Last time I watched Monsters Inc was... Idek. My brother ruined the disc when he was younger -_-2.gif much love for Boo + Dory.

I also love Toy Story a lot... Mainly because I grew up on these films as a kid. Makes me feel old because Toy Story 1 was 1995 or so, Toy Story 2 was like 1999/2000 or around that sort of time. No joke I loved Toy Story 3 so so much grin.gif It kinda annoyed me with the whole kids "oh mommy I wanna see Toy Story 3"
Move out of the way kiddies I was born and grew up with Toy Story you don't know nothing!

/totally not a crazed fan of Disney films

I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine, and he shall be my squishy.
Best quote ever. Best film ever aaaah <3

Never watch 'The hole'...

first I was like "Oh my ******* god" because it really scared the living daylights out of me, whoa that's not really hard me being the scaredy cat of the family, but then somewhere near the half of the movie the youngest brother starts fighting his fears (that being clowns) so this really scary puppet clown wants to kill him but the kid fights back...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsfQKbOrtIU and then the movie only got worse. At the end it made me think of a bad spin off of Final Fantasy (I really love FF so when I mean bad its like REALLY BAD)

MY conclusion

I'm going to do this with the director of The Hole (click to show)

I'm assuming I can still bump pinned topics, because I have not updated my list of films in a long time. My taste's changed a lot since I first made this list years ago, hahaha.

Anyway, here's a list of my current favorites, in somewhat of an order:

There's a lot of movies that I do enjoy that, of course, aren't on this list simply because it would be ridiculously long otherwise.

Oh my God, last week, my boyfriend showed me Despicable Me.

Not the sequel that came out a couple of months ago. The first one. I'm ashamed to admit I've NEVER seen it before this! And I have been missing out because it was AMAZING. Usually kids films are horrendous, and the jokes all too cheesy... but the minions... THE MINIONS.

Ahem. So, because we had watched the first film last week, I forced him to go to the cinema with me to watch the sequel. I needed to see it that bad.

... THE MINIONS.

So yes, Despicable Me 1 and 2 have now become two of my favourite films ever. It's very difficult for a new film to get into my favourites.

Some of my old favourites are Titanic, Thir13en Ghosts, ALL of the Harry Potters, Mrs.Doubtfire, Gremlins 1 and 2, The Pirates of the Caribbean (All), Shrek, Watership Down... good Lord, the list could go on.

But yeah, Despicable Me 1 and 2 are now on my favourites list grin.gif

(Sorry, if this counts as necroposting, I did read the forum rules and it does state that it's allowed as long as I have something worthy to say x_x.gif )

- Girl, interrupted (1999)
- Brick (2005)
- Kids (1995)
- Only lovers left alive (2013)
I recently watched two movies that i realy like, but it's hard for me to say they are one my favorites
1) Another Earth (2011)
2) The Zero Theorem (2013)

Movies I can't stand to watch are:
- All Fast&Furious movies
- I hate movies which don't make me think after I watched them.

Favorites :
- DEFINITELY The Hobbit Trilogy!!! [Bagginshield 4lyff, also Kili is super hot]
- Working through my LOTR marathon now, and I'm definitely loving what I've seen so far [terrible effects but who can blame them, that was like 10 years ago]
- Star Trek into Darkness [mainly because. Benedict Cumberbatch. hah]

In terms of animation,
- Mulan
- Tangled
- Toy Story movies
- Despicable Me [how could you not love it omg the minions are SO CUTE]

Least Favorites :
- The Last Airbender [animation was epic, but the movie version destroyed any essence of the child in Aang]

Pacific Rim

I literally fell in love with this movie. I'm so excited for the second one.

Posted by: The True DragonForce Jan 30 2016, 08:33 PM

My favorite movie is definitely Full Metal Jacket. It's like a comedy and drama all rolled into one. As for my least favorite, that award definitely goes to Super Cyclone. Worst movie I've EVER seen in my life, with its abysmal acting and eye-gougingly bad SFX to its Swiss cheese plot and the fact that the creators charged people money to see this amalgamation of unparalleled lack of skill in any of the departments movies are graded in.

In terms of animation, I have to say my favorite is a tie between Grave of the Fireflies and Summer Wars. My least favorite is probably any Dreamworks movie ever.

(more) Favourites: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Last Unicorn, Little Shop of Horror, How to train your dragon, Spirited away, Anastasia, The Treasure Planet
--> I also like animated movies, musical movies and fairy tales^^ Disney and Ghibli are both nice, but I like not all of them

Least Favourites: The Last Airbender, Dragonball Z, The Smurfs (I hate those things, they give me goosebumps all over *shiver*), Relic (the movie itself isn't bad, but it's a crappy film adaption were they even cut out the main protagonist for the book series to follow! Poor Pendergast, my dear....)
