The Dragon’s Lair



Welcome, mortal. Enter the Dragon’s Lair, if you dare. Don’t worry; we only bite when angered.

We at the Lair are a dangerous lot; ferocious, fire-breathing, and merciless towards intruders. So what brings you to our home, mortal? Here to steal a golden egg? I wouldn’t advise it. Here to slay one of us? Keep dreaming. Or are you here to join us in our quest to dominate the sky, land, and sea? If so, then let me show you the Dragon’s Lair.

Laws of the Lair

1. Uphold the Golden Rule: treat others the way you wish to be treated. Flamers will be expelled from the Lair.

2. Members of the Lair will be awarded DP (Dragon Points) if they fulfill certain duties. For each Basic Pokemon (such as Bagon or Dratini) that a member recruits, he/she will earn 1 point. He/she will earn 2 points for each Stage 1 Pokemon (such as Gabite or Shelgon) that he/she recruits. And for each Stage 2 Pokemon (such as Charizard or Dragonite), he/she will earn 3 points. A member can also earn points by creating banners or graphics for the Lair. Legendaries are worth 4 points each, and eggs are worth 1 point each.

3. All submitted Pokemon should be in badge form.

Welcome to the Dragon Lair's Training Academy. Here you will learn all of the skills needed to become a soldier in our great Dragon Army. Everybody begins as a trainee, but once you think you are ready, you must make a choice: to join the Land Force, the Sky Force, or the Sea Force. Choose carefully; once you decide, you cannot change which Force you are in.

A team of Galactic Grunts warily makes its way through a narrow mountain pass, pillars of rocks towering above them on either side. They are sweating profusely in their silly Spandex outfits, and their arms are tired from carrying around their silver suitcases all day. Unbeknown to them, an elite Dragon Land Force squad is quietly creeping along behind them; Bagon, with their hard skulls, are fearsome foes, and Gabite and Garchomp are masters of earthquakes. They size up their enemies, and then strike! After only a few moments of a barrage of Earthquakes and Dragon Claws, the Team Galactic members are sprawled on the ground unconscious, having no idea what had just hit them.

The air above Blackthorn City is filled with the droning sound of helicopters as a fleet of them flies past, towards the mountains. The red Team Rocket insignia is painted on each. They are on a special mission: set up a Team Rocket base just north of Blackthorn City, and build up their forces until they are ready to invade. Giovanni, far away, watches them on a television screen in his office. He smiles smugly; this mission can't fail. He has his best men on this mission, and not even the Elite Four, should they arrive, would not be able to defeat them. Suddenly, a shadow passes over the fleet, and then another and another. Giovanni frowned. What could this be? From above comes a great many Dragonites, Salamences, and Altaria! Giovanni gasps. It's the Sky Force! The dragons rip through the entire helicopter fleet with Twisters and Aeroblasts. Giovanni roars in anger: this was the third time this month that his plans have been foiled by the Sky Force!

Through the salty waters tears more than twenty formidable battleships. Team Aqua leader Archie surveys his fleet from the deck of his ship. Today is the day that Team Aqua would secure the floating town of Pacifidlog, giving them the perfect launching pad to take Slateport City, and then all the seas of Hoenn! Archie smirked at his genius. Suddenly, a crew member cried out “Look! There in the water! Something’s moving!” Archie peered into the murk. All of a sudden, a huge Whirlpool erupted from below. Archie’s ship lurched towards it, and he clung to the banister for dear life. From the water leapt Dragonairs and Kingdras, blasting the fleet with Dragon Pulses and Hydro Pumps. Archie watched as his ships sunk one by one, and he cursed the mighty Sea Force for once again foiling his plans.

Metakeru l Kisa l Schala

Each Top Three Member will have a Party Pokemon of their choice featured in their Force. The Pokemon must relate to the Force (i.e. Sky Force featured Pokemon must be able to fly, Sea Force must be able to swim, etc. If the member has no such Pokemon in their Party, they may choose one from their PC). Until a Pokemon is selected, the slot will remain empty. All Top Three Members should PM me their chosen Pokemon, and/or any questions pertaining to this.

In The Dragon Lair, we award special badges to those of us who go above and beyond in group activities or in dragon recruitment.

= The Charizard Challenge-Winner Badge: Awarded to members who have won at least one contest.

= The Legendary Master Badge: Awarded to members who have recruited a legendary dragon Pokemon.

= The Arceus Artist Badge: Awarded to members who have created banners or graphics for the Lair (contest entries do not count).

= The Palkia Penmanship Badge: Awarded to members who have won a Dragon's Lair writing contest.

EVENTS

These are activities that the Lair often holds to entertain and challenge its members. If one is lucky, skilled, or intelligent enough to win an event, they will be showered with DP and may even increase in rank.

The method of prize-giving has changed! There will now be a Pot of DP. For most events it will start at 3 DP and increase by 1 DP for each person (other than the first person) that wins. So if there are 2 winners, the Pot is 4 DP, and so on.

The first person to win will receive half of the Pot, and all subsequent winners will split the remaining half amongst each other.

For example, if the Pot started at 3 DP and there were 4 winners, the winner would receive 3 DP and the other three would each win 1 DP.

For mathematically-brained people, here are some equations:

Everyone Else's Prize = (t+p)/2/(p-1)

Well, recruits, it’s your first day on the Force, and to prepare you for many battles ahead, you have been presented with a training mission to defeat imaginary enemies and make-believe damsels in distress. However, the mission is interrupted when suddenly something terribly wrong happens: real baddies show up!

Write a short story about your first mission! Be sure to include things such as where you are, what you’re doing, and who you’re fighting! I’ve given you a basic plotline, but the sky’s the limit with your imagination! Be creative!

Rules
1. The story must be at least 1000 words long (don’t worry, that’s not a lot!).
2. You must write about the Force you are in! So if you’re in the Sky Force, create a training mission built for flyers!
3. Proper grammar and spelling is a must! Those are the basic rules of language, and you should know them!
4. To submit your story, post it in the forums in spoiler tags, like this:

You will have one week to write and edit your story! On July 20th (at 1:30 pm server time), no more entries will be accepted. I will review all of the stories and choose the best two. The members will then be able to vote on their favorite! Voting will end July 27th at 1:30 pm server time, at which time I will announce the winner and award them 15 DP!

Welcome artists!
Because the Lair is still relatively new to GPX+, this event celebrates youth and promise! So, I issued a challenge to all artists in the Lair: draw the egg of any dragon! It was a long fought battle, but the winner is…

Question: Where are wild Feebas located in Sinnoh and in how many tiles can you catch them in?

The answer is that Feebas ( ) are found in Mt. Coronet and on only 4 tiles (which change every day!). Three members got the correct answer. ^^
