If I met a Pokemon in Dream World (their dream), would it be possible to understand them even with no psychic powers?

Hmm...
I think, if we're going by what the games say, you can't understand them directly. However, I think that, since the whole concept is that you're going inside the pokemon's mind and seeing a visual representation of their thoughts while sleeping, that's about as psychic as you can get. So, I think that the "Psychic Rule of Communication" applies to all dream world pokemon, since you're using a psychic medium (Musharna). Basically, you're not so much communicating with the pokemon, you're communicating with the Dream World medium, who understands the sleeping pokemon. -------------------- [spoiler=PANE - Justin Smart] Justin Smart Profile Current Level Post Wiki Currently In: Zoobreak! I have a few questions before posting my profile.
1. Can a Pokémon have its Dream World ability, and if yes, are there special conditions to obtain it? My character, Millie, will start with a Darumaka, and, depending on its ability, its evolution has drastic changes. 2. Can my character's family come from another foreign country? They live in Castelia City, and my RP character is born there, but have French origins and names. Same concept as Fantina in D/P/Pt. -------------------- |

I found this on page 21, second post. It goes over DW abilities but it's regarding swapping already defined abilities of a Pokemon that was around before the whole Dream World abilities. My guess is that it's completely fine to have them from the start but I'd wait for a mod to reply first.
As for the second question, pretty sure that's allowed. Kamaitachi's second character has a Spanish theme going on, if I'm not mistaken. (I'm not particularly familiar with Cesc, so sorry if I broke something, Kamai) -------------------- |

Don't forget, the character Fantina had a French accent, so it is clear people got their own foreign backgrounds to countries that don't exist.
And an ability is an ability. They don't really care, just some ways you can perform on getting butter, but the getting is ascetics XD -------------------- |

Dream World abilities are fine, and you don't need to go through a plot event to uncover them (unless you want.)
As for foreign countries: That's fine. So are accents and such. However, I think it would be best to keep our world and the pokemon world separate universes. I'm uncomfortable with France existing, especially as a country on the same earth. -------------------- [spoiler=PANE - Justin Smart] Justin Smart Profile Current Level Post Wiki Currently In: Zoobreak! There is a precedence set for the existence of the countries on the same world we're playing, in the game, anime, and in PANE. However, it's glossed over so that it's implied someone who speaks Japanese or French or calls themselves something like that is only using that as a name and not a place.

Quick question: what's the deal with dead RPs? I mean... well, I hate to seem greedy, but the real question is twofold:-
1) What are the criteria for deadness in PANE's... sparse RPing environment? 2) If an RP dies, are levels still allocated to its participants or are they rendered void as punishment for letting the RP die? I just worry about things, is all. My parents are trying to push anti-anxiety drugs at me, the thought of which makes me very nervous... -------------------- |

Well, to me, "dead" means the players have became inactive themselves, or if they have acknowledged quitting the thread. A lot of times you need o be patient.
As for rewards, it depends on how fardown the lie theRP went when it died. Normally, a page or two of posts is considered a good sized RP thread for a small group, but no matter how you look at it, 5 posts is not enough. At most, you may get a generous grader who can offer you participation points. -------------------- |

How reasonable would it be for a Pidgeotto to "fly" someone? I'm guessing it would be like the Hoothoot from the anime that has to grab onto the person, and I'm also guessing it would only be for very short distances that involved elevation or not very far gliding, but I felt uneasy without clarification.

profanity (click to show ) not profane (click to show ) The mechanics of 'Fly' are always confusing. I think it's okay for this, especially considering that Joey is not that big a person. If it were, say, both Lori and Joey at the same time, I'd have questions. I can't imagine Claw would get too much altitude or speed for the short distance, but it should be fine. -------------------- Song Stuck in My Head:~*~Blank Space - Ariana Silvanas (Postmodern Jukebox Cover)~*~ Pane (click to show ) Uprising (click to show ) |

How cheesy/silly/legal/acceptable would it be for Adelaide to build a biotech death ray over the course of a future RP using only the contents of a garden centre with attached Mart and some Grass-types' DNA samples? I want to check in case it can be used further down the road, you see...

Quick question, I've been inactive before recently returning and was wondering if I could change some things about my character? Like making him 2 years older, adding 2 inches to his height, and 30 pounds to his frame?

@Colourcodedchaos: While the idea is a snazzy one, a death ray is something that's pretty much overpowered. Typically, killing doesn't occur. A death ray would be very out of place and very overpowered.
@DJSanders: As long as the changes are purely aesthetic, I don't mind. -------------------- Song Stuck in My Head:~*~Blank Space - Ariana Silvanas (Postmodern Jukebox Cover)~*~ Pane (click to show ) Uprising (click to show ) |

To add to Kam's line, however, not everything called a Death Ray is one... and it would be hilarious if her "death ray" caused her opponent's pokemon to get an attack boost instead...

Indeed.
Adelaide used Death Ray! Opponent's stats all rose extremely high! Both sides are confused! Adelaide and Opponent fainted While I'm here, I have a quick question myself. In a contest battle against the Contest Hall leader, does the challenger still need to stick to the beauty/smart/cool/cute/tough move line for maximum points, or can they use anything if it gives a good appeal/knockout? -------------------- Pane (click to show ) Percentages and Truths (click to show ) |

I understand. This wasn't exactly what I meant, and death ray was almost certainly the wrong term. I should have explained better, so please allow me to do so.
You can't be a proper mad scientist without a ray gun of some sort. It's a union thing. Adelaide is currently sans ray gun, which reminds her of just how far away from home she is. Let us say she is in a garden centre with attached Pokémart, and within its boundaries she finds a... let's go with a Sunflora. Now, during an attack by some particularly brick-thick members of Team Deception, for the sake of argument, the Sunflora uses Giga Drain on an opposing Pokémon during the fight while in the outdoor toys section. Adelaide sees this, takes a DNA sample from the Sunflora, grabs some liquid plant food from the garden centre and some Elixir from the Mart, puts all three things in a big ol' Super Soaker, runs a wire to the barrel/s from the DNA Chamber, plugs the barrel/s up with Blu-Tak or similarly non-conductive material, makes sure the wire is exposed, and bam! Instant Giga Drain gun. Of course, the design will need some refinement before it can see wider use (current issues with the prototype include but are not limited to extreme inaccuracy, inability to inflict status effects, propensity for attack not to trigger, and fragile, unreliable construction), but as far as a proof of concept goes it's solid. With other sample chambers, there could be many other stored moves in a revolving chamber. The weapon in question would have to be rather large to function properly and power requirements might be an issue, as would weather... that's a point, how would one replicate beneificial weathers? Sunlight's easy, put a UV striplight above the chamber, but what about rain, hail, or sandstorms? Maybe I'm just crazy, I don't know, but I think that given how reluctant Adelaide is to just sit on the sidelines like a beached whale with a headache, such a thing would fit her character and allow her to actually be useful as a combatant rather than a pure strategist, unlike most Trainers. Extra firepower is always appreciated, after all... -------------------- |
