I was looking at the leveling system and it, well, confused me immensely. Maybe i'm just stupid, but someone is gonna have to explain to me in a really simple way. When you get a#/15, do you just add/distrubute the amount of levels to the pokemon? like;
6/15 Torchic +3 levels Hoothoot +3 levels ? -------------------- Ahem... Er... Click please? I'll really try to click back. But you know how many of those there can be... Technically, the mods are supposed to distribute the levels for you, but I only see users do it these days.
But yeah, you have it right as far as I can tell . -------------------- PANE Mod PANE x2 (click to show ) Credit for 2gamer's Seel of Approval (click to show ) |

That's exactly it. The mods give you total levels, up to 15. You decide where among your team that gets placed. There's more that has to do with evolutions, but that's explained pretty well in the RP Grading original post.

I'm not sure how the whole evolving thing goes, really.
All i understood was that you mutliplied something by something else and then, i was lost. I'm just a loser that way. The things i don't get are; -Evolving -The multiplying thingy If you could explain Mr. Nye, that would be nice. -------------------- Ahem... Er... Click please? I'll really try to click back. Bill: Officially, yes, you are. But it hasn't happened ever. We've always just did our own.
Darci: I'm really not good at explaining this, I've typed it out several times and just erased it because it was confusing. But basically, if your pokémon evolves at a level, there's a modifier you have to use after that level is reached. For example, my ralts evolves at level 20. Once she reaches twenty, whether I choose to evolve her or not, I have to modify her score by .8. So, say she's level 20, and I earn 10 points to level her with. 10 x .8 is 8, so she goes from level 20 to level 28. Depending on how many levels evolutions the pokémon have, there are other modifiers. If the pokémon is part of a 3 evolution line it will have a .8 modifier for the levels between it's first evolution and it's last, and a .5 modifier for all the levels after it would evolve the second time. If it only evolves once, it will have a .6 modifier after the level it would evolve in. If never evolves, then it aways has a .7 modifier. We haven't yet decided what to do with stone, trade, and friendship evolutions, so until that's decided. they take the modifier after the evolution is RPed. -------------------- |

Wait...so the multipliers still apply even if you don't evolve the pokemon in question?
I thought the multipliers were a way to stop strong pokemon, like pokemon on higher tiers of evolution or the already strong pokemon that don't evolve, from leveling fast? There really isn't anything strong about a Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Chikorita, Tododile, Cyndaquil, Ghastly, Pidgey, or any other first evolution pokemon. Unless you're allowed to RP a pokemon that you want to remain on the first tier of their evolution cycle as being as strong as the further tier versions...something seems off about that. Then what happens with Pichu -> Pikachu? Pikachu is still incredibly weak (like a Pidgey or any of the others I already listed) so slapping a .8 modifier on a Pikachu's level gains is kind of a bit much too unless you are allowed to RP your Pikachu as being as strong as an Ivysaur, Charmeleon, etc. It's entirely possible that that's the case and I just missed that part of the story since all of the information is kind of jumbled up on this site, but I guess I'll just cope if choosing not to evolve something results in both a weaker pokemon and slower level gain. On the subject of stuff being jumbled up though: I noticed that all of the rules aren't collected into one thread or anything...which makes for a lot of searching around everywhere when you're just starting out. What I mean is there is an FAQ located in the RP School section, two rule threads in the actual Rules section, some more pertinent information in the Grading thread located in the Discussion section, and it seems there is a rule or something about posting current levels in another thread located in the Discussion section. Then having the profile template and the starter pokemon in the same topic seems to make sense to me since you'd probably need to access both at once anyway. -------------------- |

We're supposed to distribute them? ...@_@. Never knew that. Actually, it was you who asked this question in the first post of Questions As They Come. See Falkyn's answer in the next post. QUOTE Wait...so the multipliers still apply even if you don't evolve the pokemon in question? I thought the multipliers were a way to stop strong pokemon It is, which is why it applies even when you don't evolve. Otherwise, you could easily bypass all the multipliers by evolving a squirtle at level 35. Ah! I knew I must have been missing something. That rule still kind of stinks for those who do not plan to ever evolve their pokemon, but I guess there's no real way around it unless you can PM a mod and tell them you won't be evolving your pokemon (and note that they cannot be evolved in your profile). -------------------- |

Uhhh...
Okay... I think i sorta kinda get it... I"m sure i'm gonna get a PM about RP failure when it comes to this x.x So example: 8/15 3 evolutions - 1st stage - lv. y + 8 3 evolutions - 2nd stage - 8 x .8 = 6.4 - lv. y + 6 3 evolutions - 3rd stage - 8 x.5 = 4 2 evolutions - 1st stage - lv. y + 8 2 evolutions - 2nd stage - 8 x .6 = 4.8 - lv. y + 4 1 evolution - 1st stage - 8 x .7 = 5.6 - lv. y + 5 Is that it? what happens to the .4 in 6.4 Is it ignored and discarded? -------------------- Ahem... Pretty much, except you're rounding off wrong on some numbers. 4.8 would be 5 and 5.6 would be 6

So:
8/15 3 evolutions - 1st stage - lv. y + 8 3 evolutions - 2nd stage - 8 x .8 = 6.4 - lv. y + 7 3 evolutions - 3rd stage - 8 x.5 = 4 2 evolutions - 1st stage - lv. y + 8 2 evolutions - 2nd stage - 8 x .6 = 4.8 - lv. y + 5 1 evolution - 1st stage - 8 x .7 = 5.6 - lv. y + 6\ ? -------------------- Ahem... The last I read, they decided there is no rounding. I will see if I can find that ruling.
Edit: Here it is. Currently rounding IS done, but it might be changed. This post has been edited by Hungry Hungry Houndoom: Jun 28 2009, 09:27 PM -------------------- |

Hmm. No evolution is .6? That's a bit low, I'll bump that up a bit and make an announcement.
And even when I was but a member, the former generation of moderators didn't assign levels. Hmm. This gives me an idea. -------------------- |

a non-evolving pokemon is at .7
And yes, I read the rules and it says you were supposed to divy points, but no one had done it before you. This post has been edited by Hungry Hungry Houndoom: Jun 29 2009, 12:38 AM -------------------- |

Question:
If you have a Pokemon like Scyther, what modifier does it have? It only evolves when exposed to a Metal Coat, so in theory it could never evolve, or it could evolve immediately. The fact that mine's shadow complements this further, since it gains it's levels all at once during purification... EDIT: Oh! Right. Just noticed it's been answered. Carry on. While we're on evolution questions...
What about pokemon like Mamoswine, that don't evolve until they learn a certain move? Can those evolve or they like ones with stones, friendship, and trade evolutions that can't evolve yet? This post has been edited by Dragon Maiden: Jul 31 2009, 07:22 PM -------------------- |
